Demons & Wizards Signs With Century Media

Century Media Records is pleased to announce the signing of legendary metal band Demons & Wizards for a worldwide collaboration. Founded in 1999 by Hansi Kürsch (Blind Guardian) and Jon Schaffer (Iced Earth), Demons & Wizards released two highly acclaimed albums in 2000 (“Demons & Wizards”) and 2005 (“Touched by the Crimson King”). Currently, the band is busy recording the highly anticipated yet untitled third studio album, which is scheduled to be released in early 2020.

Hansi Kürsch comments:
“It is a great pleasure and a big honor for me to finally become a full part of the Century Media family. Jon and I both feel that Century Media is the perfect match for our upcoming DEMONS & WIZARDS missions. And there will be plenty of them. Right at the moment we have not only finalized a re-boot of our first two albums, but are also working with full forces on the successor of “Touched by the Crimson King”. Good things are on its way. Expect nothing but the best and do not miss us on the road this summer, unless you want to risk another 20 years of waiting …” More...

Borknagar Posts New Album Update

Borknagar founder Øystein G. Brun has checked in with the following update:

"Friday night, I drove the 800 km from the woods of Örebro in the midst of Sweden to the shores Bergen, in one intense drive. Through the endless woods of Sweden, wintry Oslo, over the stormy (!!) mountains of Hemsedal and finally waiting my way through a billion of tunnels here in west, as many of them were under construction / upgrade work. Quite an ordeal for an tired old fart, but I was indeed smiling all the way back home.

"The new Borknagar album is finally done. I am so proud of what we have achieved musically this time around. Hard work always pays off, and this time we all pushed it to the extreme.

"I want to share my sincere gratitude to everybody involved in this production so far. First and foremost this goes to my brothers in music Lars, Simen, Jostein and Bjørn. And not to forget my always supportive family making all this possible.

"Moreover, I would like to thank Jens, Linus and Tony at Fascination Street Studio, Marius at Strand Studio and John Ryan from Cruachan. Thank you for being a part of this journey!

"Now, onward!"

Machine Head Announces "Burn My Eyes" Tour Dates

Let Freedom Ring! It is with great excitement that Machine Head announce the first leg of their 25 Year Anniversary tour for the band’s classic debut, Burn My Eyes. Check out an announcement video below.

The dates kick off in Germany on October 5th in Freiburg, and continue across Europe and the UK, wrapping in Dublin, Ireland on the 8th of November. The US leg will be announced in due course; those dates are set for November into December as the tour makes its way around the globe.

Building on their wildly popular An Evening With… format, these not-to-be-missed shows will be a three-hour musical extravaganza, comprised of two parts:

Part I - will feature a battery of Machine Head’s modern classics, such as "Imperium," "Halo," and "The Blood, The Sweat, The Tears," featuring frontman/guitarist Robb Flynn and bassist Jared MacEachern performing alongside two, soon-to-be-announced, ragers on guitar and drums.

Part II - will feature the Bay Area band’s classic debut album, "Burn My Eyes" played in its entirety for the first time ever. And if somehow this historical event could not be monumental enough, taking the stage for this part of the set will be Burn My Eyes-era alumni and Machine Head’s original drummer Chris Kontos and original guitarist, Logan Mader. The first name in death metal, Possessed, recently revealed the title of their first album in over three decades, "Revelations Of Oblivion." The album will be released on May 10th via Nuclear Blast Records.

Today, the band releases the first trailer for "Revelations Of Oblivion." Watch below as they discuss the creation of death metal.

The band comments, "Right from the get go, we wanted to create the heaviest music that we possibly could - in the world - something that represented what we wanted to hear rather than what was being sold as metal back then."

Possessed has also today announced their return to UK shores for this summer. The godfathers of death metal will play a one off show at London's Underworld on the 6th June in support of their first album in 33 years "Revelations Of Oblivion."

Harbinger of blasphemy Jeff Becerra comments "We are very much looking forward to coming back to London once again. UK shows are always something that me and my guys are excited about and to be out here touring the new album, "Revelations Of Oblivion" along with our original album material is going to be better than ever. Hoping to see all of you at our London show, up in the front row and ready to destroy! In Fire & Hell, Jeff Becerra" More...

Interview

Flotsam And Jetsam Celebrates "The End Of Chaos"

American thrash metal is truly as much of a treasure chest as the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal. Just as the new NWOBHM had it's stars, so too did thrash and both contain so many excellent bands that don't get the recognition they deserve. One of the best examples in the case of thrash, is Arizona's own, Flotsam And Jetsam. The band's debut, "Doomsday For The Deceiver" was released in 1986 and has been hailed as a true classic of the genre by those who actually know what they're talking about. Since then, the band has released a plethora of albums, with mixed results, but always true to themselves, with their latest album, "The End Of Chaos" receiving critical acclaim and delighting fans across the globe.

This past Thursday, I had the pleasure of sitting down with the band's guitarist Michael Gilbert and new drummer Ken Mary to discuss the history of the band, "The End Of Chaos," the Arizona thrash scene and much more. You can watch the interview in full below. More...
