The new song-material is totally fresh and energetic to us and I hope all you Thrash maniacs will dig it as much as we do! Despite the band’s line up changes, we are pretty much staying true to our traditional stylistic formula and tried to combine the best of our 80’s Thrash Metal roots with the punch of a modern production and an utterly aggressive performance! Look out!!!”

Killswitch Engage guitarist Joel Stroetzel has checked in with the following statement about the band's recent tour dates:
"Wow… I can’t believe that we made it though this one! The first week of the tour was really looking grim ... blizzards, shattered bus windshields, show cancellations ... lead singers having to leave the tour! We can’t thank our good friend Phil from All That Remains enough for coming to the rescue. Equally, we can’t thank our fans enough for coming out to the shows, being so supportive, and throwing down so hard despite the situation. Adam said this at a lot of the shows, but I would like to confirm it… Killswitch Engage does in fact have the best fans in the world! Until we meet again… Peace out!"

"The new lineup of Fatalist for 2010 is secure for now. Joining Neil and Art in the band is Sean Jessel (Mentacide) on drums, Matt Drexler on lead guitars, and Mike Deity (Carnal Deity) on main vocals. This is the lineup that recorded the Death song 'Beyond The Unholy Grave' for the upcoming movie soundtrack After Party Massacre. Our version of the song is a bit different than the original, but we kept the original feel intact. You can check out an MP3 of the song at this location.
"We also wanted to take the time to thank Marc from the band Lifeless for doing some vocals on the song as well. We are planning a few different small tours for 2010 and we will post more news when we get anything confirmed. We are working on new material at the moment for the next release that will hopefully come out in early 2011."

Norway's Devar has checked in from the road with the following tour report:
"The first two dates have gone reasonably well. First one was at the tour bus company lot, where we played in the bus washing hall. Everybody was initially a bit suspicious about the venue, but it turned out to be an OK show. Next up was Klagenfurt in Austria. A really cool looking club and everything went smooth. We're also getting to know all the guys in the other bands. They're all cool. We kinda like the vibe the American thrash bands send out on this tour. We also confirmed for ourselves that taking Imbalance with us to the homecoming gigs in Bergen is a really great idea.
"Third day became somewhat special. This is in Szerencs, Hungary. The venue seemed more fitting to host a wedding reception than a metal gig. First thing that happened was the promotors greeting everyone with a beer. Not the kind "do you want a beer?" but "Beer!" so rigging took twice as long since everyone only could use one hand (do not disturb the drinking hand). The meal of the day was a traditional Hungarian meal, which consisted of a very thin soup, and (probably) beef in gravy served with macaroni(!!). Odland demanded Obdsaija to bring out the Berzerker hot sauce, which made the meal edible. More...
New York doom metallers Batillus have checked in with the following band update:
"Hello everyone, it's been a long time since our last real update. Much has happened, much is happening, and much will happen in the very near future... This is a long one, so bear with us. First, we have a couple shows upcoming with our good friends Riff Cannon. We're still looking for a show in Cleveland on Saturday, May 1st to round out that weekend as we make our way to Chicago. If you can help out please get in touch.
"Why are we going to Chicago, you ask? We're recording our debut full-length in May at Volume Studios with the much-lauded Sanford Parker (Yob, Rwake Unearthly Trance, Nachtmystium, Pelican). We have seven songs written clocking in at nearly an hour, of which we expect probably five to make it to the final LP. After doing a pair of EPs on an extremely limited budget and a tight schedule, we're very much looking forward to taking our time this go-around and coming out of the studio with something that really represents us as a band; something that we can really be proud of. More details on the full-length will be announced in time.
"Next, we are excited to announce that we have a split 12" coming out this summer via the Berlin-based Vendetta Records. The split is with Maine's Hallowed Butchery (aka Ryan Scott Fairfield) and our side will contain three tracks previously only available on the extremely-limited (as in 75) 'Beard Destroyer Tour EP,' which is now sold out. The cover image is by Scott Irvine and the rest of the artwork and layout will be done by Fairfield. More...

Sweden's As You Drown has issued the following post-tour recap:
"Greetings, fellow primates! We're now home from our tour with Vader & Divine Chaos. Ideally we would have liked to stay on the road forever, or at least a few more months, but unfortunately everything has to come to an end. We've had an absolute blast playing shows every night, drinking with mildly insane people and causing general havoc in our wake. Videos, photos and other reports from the tour will be posted on this blog very soon.
"Fear not though, As You Drown, will tour again, soon. Right now the plan is to start writing for the next album, which we have some very interesting plans for. None of them involving monkeys. We're also scheduled to appear at Neurotic Deathfest (in Tilburg, Holland) in April and Deathfeast Open Air (in Hünxe, Germany) in June, so be sure to get your asses down there to mix your blood and sweat with ours. Excessive violence guaranteed!
"Big love and massive fuckin' thanks go out to the guys from Vader and Divine Chaos for being awesome dudes and for playing great shows every night. Hopefully it won't be long before our twisted paths cross once more. The same goes for our tour manager Darek, the drivers and the amazing crew, in form of the dynamic duo Vacek and Kuba and the soundman from hell - Oscar. Last, but definitely not least, we want to thank everyone who came out to see us play. You guys rule!"
New York's Amalgama has issued the following update about the band's recent activity:
"We've been busy the last few weeks with coordinating time to get back into the studio to finish the new EP (the drum recordings went amazingly well; we'll leave it to Justin to tell you all about it a bit later on) and re-configuring things with Nate's departure from Amalgama's ranks. Nate had been thinking for a while about changing his career path so we knew the decision was going to come sooner rather than later and we planned accordingly.
"The search for a new lead guitar player was surprisingly short because there was one clear candidate for the job: Ray Hill. We've known Ray for a while and his work in various local music outlets around the Capital District and when Nate let us know his plans and future schemes Ray immediately sprang to mind as a replacement. To tell you the truth, we didn't even really consider anyone else and it was a no-brainer from the outset. Over the past few weeks he's been working with us getting up to speed on the new material and we can't wait to introduce him to the Amalgama fans in the next few weeks via our YouTube page, onstage and on our new disc. So don't don't be afraid to send him words of welcome! More...

TEXTURES has announced that Daniel de Jongh, former front man of the Dutch metal band CILICE, will replace Eric Kalsbeek who left the band earlier this year.
Daniel had to say this about joining TEXTURES, "I am truly honored to have been asked to replace Eric as vocalist for TEXTURES. TEXTURES is a standout band and is a band which I've listened to the last couple of years, like so many other metal-fans out there. Although it was a pretty tough decision to leave my former band CILICE, this was an offer I just couldn't refuse. The guys in TEXTURES are just a great bunch of people and it is clear that there is and will be loads of inspiration for the next years to come. I also know how much Eric was respected by the fans and I hope that I can assure you guys out there that I will replace him with as much dignity as he did for TEXTURES the last 6 years. All I can say is that we as TEXTURES are ready to rock everyone out there and that the anticipation for the next album can be withhold. Brooklyn atmospheric doom metal band A STORM OF LIGHT has issued the following update:
"In just over two years since the band's inception, A STORM OF LIGHT has had the honor and privilege of playing with many great drummers: Vinny Signorelli, Jason Roeder, Pete Angevine etc. While this band is built around revolving members both in touring and recording, we've decided that a central three-piece will make us sonically/rhythmically stronger. That said, we have decided to look for a permanent drummer, one that can make STORM their primary focus, and be part of the band for the long haul."
"When: ASAP. We will be recording in early fall and going to Europe from September 28 - Nov 1."
"Where: Ideally we want someone in Brooklyn/NYC, or damn close. While we are willing to consider people outside of the area (New Jersey/Philadelphia/Upstate NY/Providence/Boston/DC etc). Please keep in mind that we are constantly writing, recording, practicing, touring, so you will have to been in Brooklyn very regularly." More...

When the atmosphere at the studio is good and it smells a bit like shit, playing is at its easiest!"
Chimaira has announced the cancellation of their Russian tour and issued the following update about it:
"Much to our despair, we’ve been denied entry into Russia to perform for our patient and metal starved fans. After having to postpone the original dates from October 2009, we’ve had plenty of time to prepare for this trip. Everything has been in place for weeks now…The gear has been ordered, the flights have been booked, and we’re HERE, on the European continent, ready to depart for St. Petersburg tomorrow morning. But to our absolute dismay and MASSIVE financial burden, the Russian Embassy has refused to issue us our visas. Nice timing right? And after our road manager spending three days at the Embassy searching for answers and resolution, we’ve basically been given the middle finger, and there’s nothing further we can do. Our biggest regret is for the fans who have been waiting months for this weekend to come, and we hope they can understand that we’ve exhausted every option to correct the situation. Please accept our deepest apologies, we’ll try to make it up to you all one day."

Watain recently announced the release date of their upcoming album, "Lawless Darkness."
"The title symbolizes the unbound chaotic potential of that which is void of light", frontman E. comments. "The light that defines, the light that shapes and restricts. The light by which the forces of law and order uphold their reign. In the absence of that light lies the wellspring of WATAIN: in Lawless Darkness.
"With this album and in all of our efforts with WATAIN we aim to capture the hungry madness and glimmering purity of darkness beyond illusion, the void that holds all yet where naught is manifest, the primordial tomb into which all the vanity of man and his creation shall collapse: indeed, The Lawless Darkness!
"Lawless Darkness shall be seen as a monument erected in honour of that collapse and a dedication to all those brave souls, who have willingly dared to venture the winding paths towards it."
"Shed not thy light on me
Get thee hence, thoughts defined
Blind me not with your bright structures
For I am of the night
"Let not thy rays caress me
Judged by them I will not be
For they are the light that governs man
And I am the enemy"
In other news, WATAIN will return to the United States once again in late May as part of the annual aural offensive known as the Maryland Deathfest, appearing with Sodom, Obituary, Entombed, Possessed, Necrophobic and countless more.
And, after completing the regular portion of their set at this year's Sweden Rock Festival in on June 12th, WATAIN will return to the stage for a unique 45-minute tribute concert featuring classic Bathory songs. The event promises to be even more special as the Bathory part of WATAIN's performance will be introduced by none other than late Bathory mainman Quorthon's father and producer, Börje "Boss" Forsberg. "It feels great to have Boss participating in a part of the show, since he, in a way, is the only living link to the Bathory myth," says E. "It will still be a tribute show and nothing else, but we are, of course, honored to be able to do it with his blessing!"
