Hydrogyn has posted their fourth video diary for their upcoming album "Judgment." They're "Preparing for tracking final rhythm guitars, Guitar set-up tips, Amp profiles, etc." Watch their video where Megadeth "So Far So Good, So What era" guitarist, Jeff Young discusses his gear for his part on the album. Also, it was revealed that James Lomenzo has six tracks already recorded.
Florida’s INFERNAEON have completed writing their upcoming album for Prosthetic Records and are entering Safe House Production studios to work with legendary guitarist James Murphy (TESTAMENT, OBITUARY, DEATH), who is working with the band from pre-production through mastering.
The band has also to announce the addition of guitarists Taylor Nordberg and Steven Harger and bassist Mike Poggione. Frontman Brian Werner had this to say about the new members:
“It is a real breath of fresh air getting these three in the band. Taylor and Steve are both young, 18 and 19, and hungry and their talent and work ethic are second to none. We’ve accomplished more in three months than I’d ever been able to accomplish in a year before! I spent time with Mike Poggione in Monstrosity and he’s really helping us out in our bass player’s absence. Also our drummer Jeramie Kling (The Absence) has really stepped up his game, and in my opinion he could be the next Derek Roddy or Tim Yeung. He has really come into his own as a drummer and it’s an honor to still be working with him. The end result is an absolutely amazing sounding album one that I’m proud to be a part of.” More...
Florida death metal band MALEVOLENT CREATION has just signed a management deal with Extreme Management Group (SUFFOCATION, ORIGIN). The band has also confirmed April 5 as the starting date for recording their new album with Eric Rutan at Mana Recording Studios (CANNIBAL CORPSE, VITAL REMAINS, GOATWHORE, etc.).
MALEVOLENT CREATION comments, “After over 20 years in existence, and now having the most solid line up in years, we really wanted to make sure that with this new album we elevated the band in every way. Getting good management was crucial and EMG has a great track record. Erik had been talking to us since Doomsday X to record us, and with Gus Rios (drums) being the band full time now, we didn't want him to have the responsibility of producing the album as well as writing and playing. Erik really understands what we are about, and has all of the same thoughts about recording as us. It really couldn't be a better working situation. We've said it before but this album really is without a doubt is the most relentless, focused and brutal MALEVOLENT CREATION album ever! We really went back to our roots, not only as a band, but as fans of metal. We wrote an album of songs that we as fans of brutal music would want to hear.” More...

We've been talking to bands and fans everywhere to get their favorite mosh pit stories. This week Johnny K from Vancouver's Omega Crom shares a pair of stories from shows he's attended:
Cannibal Corpse at Studebakers, some dude grabbed my friend Angel's tits, she was getting pissed off so me and my friend Ryan were moshing around and came down the stairs from the bar with our arms locked together and clothes lined this dude and bent him backward over the edge of the stage, needless to say he didn't bother her again. Later on I was headbanging forward as the guy in front of me was headbanging backward and I bashed the bridge of my nose off the back of his head, ouch.
Megadeth at Studebakers the first show they played without Marty I was in front row and center. This nice girl comes up before the show and says you look strong you should protect me. So I put her between my arms. When Megadeth came out the crowd pushed forward so hard I couldn't hold the weight and I was being crushed against the rail and this girl was getting crushed by me. After Holy Wars ( the first song) the bouncers clued in and pulled her outta there, never saw her again. I stayed there the entire show and my ribs were broken afterwards, it was worth it.
Omega Crom is currently touring Canada and will unleash their debut album "Blood, Steel & Fire" on April 5th via Reversed Records. You can download a free MP3 of the song "Battlefield" off the new album here.
Check back every Tuesday for more tales from the mosh pit.

Swedish death metallers Daemonicus have issued the following update about parting ways with their drummer:
"Our drummer and good friend Magnus Boström have decided to leave the band. Magnus was asked to fill in for two gigs in the summer of 2006. We asked him 3 weeks before the gigs if he was up for it and he accepted. And has been our sick and twisted drummer since then. But now he decided that the time has come for him to pass the torch. We wish him all the best with his new projects and we are sure that we will see him drinking beers in our bar... Puss på morkan grisnacken."
Magnus Boström also issued the following statement:
"After 4 years of pure fun and old school death metal mayhem I've decided to leave the band. My time in the band has really developed me as a drummer and as a person and we are still the best of friends. I wish all our fans the best when Daemonicus is moving on to the next level. I will continue playing in some new projects further on."
Bay area thrashers Death Angel have posted a new recording blog through Decibel Magazine. An excerpt from the blog follows:
"Three weeks into recording our new album and we are right on schedule (so far!) with all the rhythm guitars, drums and bass tracked. We work at a pace that is not for the faint of heart! Go and stop, stop and go, hurry up and wait, vibe out then attack. Not to mention, we are the night owls! I don’t think a note has been recorded before 4:20 p.m. yet. Looks like everyone is on Rob time. Or am I on Suecof’s time?
"That said, we are progressing in a big way! Seems like yesterday when I flew from San Francisco, CA to Orlando, FL to begin the recording process at AudioHammer Studios in Sanford, FL. I came out here a few days before the rest of the guys to work out the (nearly) final arrangements and detail some parts, riffs and harmonies with Jason. We spent hours just hanging out listening to the songs while getting acquainted as this was the first time we actually met in person. It’s necessary to break the ice before attempting to dive in and collaborate on something so intense! When we settled on all the structures, I recorded scratch guitar tracks for all the songs. Katatonia's Jonas Renkse has posted a new tour blog online through utlimate-guitar.com. The blog can also be viewed below:
"Manchester – March 9th. We leave Belgium, happy with all the shows so far, and are heading into the UK. The bus ride is interrupted early morning at the ferries by UK customs who thinks we're too slow and even heads into the bus to chase us from bed. We give 'em passports and red eyes and then go back into our bunks. Next morning we wake up in Manchester where we have a day off. The peeps at the Academy venue are kind enough to let us use the toilet and shower facilities. The venue is located in a university area and the weather is surprisingly mild so we have a little walk around and eat kebabs at excellent Abdul's. Next day is gig time. We played this venue with Paradise Lost back in November. It's a nice small place with an ok stage. The gig is great, place seems packed and the audience is enthusiastic. Some of us go to a nearby bar afterwards, but I was better off watching movies in the bus. More...

"Hello metalheads, rock maniacs and Shadowside dwellers! First of all, it SUCKS that many of you didn't get to watch the concert last Saturday (March 20) that was being streamed live. The Dillinger Escape Plan released their fourth full-length album "Option Paralysis" today, March 23rd, 2010. Vocalist Greg Puciato issued the following statement about the album:
"Here we are. Four months after we finished recording, a year after we started writing, and twelve years into our existence, we are proud to bring you our fourth full length album, "Option Paralysis". We put, to use a cliche, our heart and souls into this album, driving ourselves as individuals to the brink of insanity and as close to the line of personal destruction as possible to get the most out of ourselves as possible as artists. This is the ten songs that came out. We started with a title, a theme that resonated with us all, Option Paralysis, before one note or lyric was written, and now a year later with the physical release, it is still only part of the process.
"While you're listening and digesting, we'll be coming to every city that'll have us, getting to know you guys up close and personal in dark sweaty venues around the world, for the next year and a half or so, chasing after the muse that keeps us doing this year after year. If you like our record, and like what we represent as a band, please pick up a copy and help shine a light on, support, and build the culture that you and we want to see. With all the chaos that has happened in the last decade or so, the tearing down of old norms, it is time for a new renaissance, a new enlightenment, where artists and creators and human beings looking to connect and enrich their own and one another's lives can thrive and develop. It is only by choosing, supporting, and acknowledging as important those things that we want to see thrive, that we can reshape a better and more fruitful culture for ourselves. Please remember to support all art you love, not just ours, but independent quality of any kind, whether it be local stores and mom and pop shops, organic local grown foods, organizations you believe in, or a killer band you just discovered, or have loved for a long time. Project Zooom has issued the following statement about streaming a new song titled "Inflicted" online:
"Inflicted is a new instrumental that features a mix of riffage and shredding that was inspired by some of my favorite guitarists. It's a ode to their skills and intensity. The lead was recorded in one take. I wanted to capture the feel of a live performance without the use of tweaking software. It keeps the music honest. Special thanks to Gerardo of Industrialized Metal Webzine and Kiko Sandin for their time and input."
The new song "Inflicted" can be heard at the Project Zooom MySpace page.
Chicago's Against the Plagues has issued the following update about parting ways with their guitarist:
"We would to clear the air and clarify all the rumors regarding our lineup changes. We had not yet posted any official statements regarding these changes because we had been busy with all our label-negotiations (re-mastering our self-released album) along with preparing for our upcoming video. Now, we feel that it is time to officially announce that our original guitarist Adrian Adamus is no longer member of Against the Plagues. In short, Adrian had decided to part ways with the band (and extreme music) right now in order to focus on his personal/family life. We respect his decision and wish him the very best.
"Now, we are extremely proud to announce that Marco Martell (Malevolent Creation, Divine Empire, Cult of Azazel) is handling the guitarist position now and will be participating with the song writing process for the next album. Marco is an accomplished guitarist with the versatility, speed, and skill that the 'ATP style' demands. We are very excited about the 'official' release of our debut album along with the new material that we have planned. We would like to thank all the fans that continue to support our endeavors despite this harsh, economic state."
Against the Plauges is currently completing a music video for the song "Great are the Eyed" filmed in February in Miami with directors Eduardo and Gregg Alvarez from Elephas Productions. The song comes off the band's new album "Decoding the Mainframe" which will be officially release in Europe in March 31st via Vic Records. The clip will make its online debut next month.

Once we finished that night, Girardo from Nuclear Blast came out to meet us. We just talked about metal for about 4 hours. Seriously felt like I've known him for Eons. It was very cool and I felt like we made a great decision! We also watched the documentary part of the Exodus DVD. That was great! Fucking A if Gary and Tom are not on Fire! The whole band is, but those two are my role models for this genre! Get 'em fuckers!!! It's funny, Girardo was there all that time, and we didn't play him a thing. Dicks!" More...
