Death Angel Drummer In Intensive Care Unit

Will Carroll, the drummer for thrash metal legends Death Angel, is currently in intensive care after friends and bandmates stated he was "very ill." Exodus guitarist Gary Holt, who himself is in self quarantine exhibiting the symptoms of the illness, made the news public recently while giving his own update. His Instagram post reads as follows:

"I remained quiet on this earlier, not wanting to say anything until I was certain it had become public knowledge, but Will Carroll, is in need of some massive positive vibes. Me, I appreciate all the warm wishes I’ve gotten, but I’m sick, nothing more, Will is in the ICU. WAY worse that anything I’m dealing with, by a long shot. Not even close. He is very ill. There are several of us that have symptoms and are waiting for test results. Will needs some healing vibes from everyone. Get well Will."

When asked if the drummer was suffering from COVID-19, the Holt stated that "tests results being done but that's probably what it is."

Elsewhere, Testament frontman Chuck Billy, who recently toured with Exodus and Death Angel with his band, has tested positive for the virus, as has his wife.

More information will be revealed as soon it becomes available.

Testament Frontman Tests Positive For COVID-19

American thrash metal legends Testament has posted a message online, confirming the vocalist Chuck Billy and his wife have been tested for COVID-19, also known as the Corona Virus. The message reads as follows:

"As many of you already know, after returning from the BAY STRIKES BACK over Europe Tour last week, some of us in TESTAMENT have been feeling unwell and have made the decision along with our Doctors to be tested for the COVID-19 novel coronavirus. As of yesterday morning, Chuck and Tiffany Billy’s tests have come back positive as well as some crew members.

"We wanted to reach out to everyone who has been supporting us and expressing concern to inform you that we are doing what’s right, and what’s safe, and have all been quarantining ourselves since our return home; since before we were even tested. We are of course concerned for our families, our friends, our crew, our fellow musicians, and our fans. We’ve reached out to support our fellow Bay Area Bands who are also being proactive in their own camps, staying quarantined and safe, and will speak on their individual situations if and when they are ready to.

"At this moment we are currently focused on staying safe and quarantined, resting, getting ourselves back to health, and of course, sending well wishes, prayers, and positive energy towards our friends who are also sick. We also want to send well wishes to all of our fans and supporters in this time of crisis. We’re taking all the necessary steps to stay safe at home and we ask our friends and fans to do the same. Please take care of each other, and stay healthy so we can continue to thrash in the not so distant future!" More...

Slayer Members Forming Band With Phil Anselmo?

There has been much speculation recently with regards to a new project hinted at by legendary thrash metal drummer Paul Bostaph (Slayer, Testament, Exodus, Forbidden.) In a recent conversation with Overkill drummer Jason Bittner, the latter affirmed his belief that Bostaph is working with his former Slayer bandmates Kerry King and Gary Holt and Down/ex Pantera vocalist Phil Anselmo. When asked by Bittner if he had any projects in the pipeline, Bostaph stated:

"Something is brewing with a friend of mine that is very familiar to you. I'll give you three guesses."

Bittner replied: "Kerry, Gary, and Anselmo. C'mon, everyone knows by now."

Though Holt has insisted that Exodus is once again his main priority, Kerry King has made it clear that he's not done with music just yet. Further updates and concrete information will be revealed as soon as it becomes available.

Dark Tranquility Splits With Guitarist

Swedish death metal legends Dark Tranquility has announced that they have parted company with founding guitarist Niklas Sundin. A message from the musician, posted on the band's official Facebook page, reads as follows:

"As some of you know, I’ve had a break from playing with D.T. since 2016 in order to focus on family life. With the “Atoma” touring cycle now completed and a new album recording about to commence, the time is right to officially announce my departure from the band.

"I’m very grateful for the experiences that the past 30 years have brought. We founded D.T. as teenagers without any musical knowledge, and somehow our songs took us all across the world, helped establish a new subgenre of metal, brought us several Grammy nominations and - more importantly - had a positive and life-altering impact on people all over the globe. This is extremely humbling, and more than what most artists ever could ask for.

"However, it's no secret that I always enjoyed the creative process more than the performance aspects of being in a band, and the required extensive touring held less and less appeal with every album. The band and the fans deserve members that want to be on the road as much as possible in order to keep the (forward) momentum going, and for this reason I prefer to step aside and direct my musical creativity towards other areas. I’ll still be involved in the visual side of D.T. and am working on the cover illustration for the next album as we speak.

"I send my warmest regards to the guys in the band, the incredible crew and of course to everyone that supported us over the past three decades. As for future musical endeavours, my electronic project Mitochondrial Sun released its debut album last month, and there are several other projects and collaborations (both metal and non-metal) in the pipeline. Onwards!"
