Belphegor's upcoming, as-yet-untitled album has been pushed back for a worldwide release in early 2014 via Nuclear Blast Records. Founding member, guitarist, and vocalist Helmuth Lehner states:
“Drums, Bass and Guitars are all tracked. It sounds brutal, more aggressive and more Death than what was heard on the last LPs. The soundwall is massive - just as expected. Thanks to Erik Rutan for the extra motivation and forcing us to nail down tight as fukk performances.
"Furthermore I am set to lay down the vocals in June/July, the mixdown and mastering will be done in September. A tough call, but it was the best for the record to decide to delay the release date again, to unleash the album in early 2014. Be prepared for Diabolical Death Musick!”
Some of the song titles to be announced so far include "Gasmask Terror," "Rex Tremendae Majestatis," "Take Her, Lucifer!" and "The Inverted Cross." A teaser trailer will be released in April. More...

In an ongoing pilgrimage towards the apocalypse and perpetual hatred for humankind, earthmoving doom duo The Body will dispense its latest scourge upon the masses in the coming weeks, titled "Master, We Perish." The following press release was issued about the EP:
"The newest wave of abhorrence from the nomadic family, 'Master, We Perish' shows The Body’s nihilistic audio terror ever-forward with three new tunes sure to cause birds to fall from the sky and traumatize nonbelievers, once again recorded at Providence, Rhode Island-based Machines With Magnets (Battles, Daughters, Lightning Bolt, Chinese Stars).
"Blackened bursts of noise-drenched, low-fi doom are fueled by percussionist Lee Buford’s hypnotic, tribal rhythms via thunderous macaroni drums, the melee infiltrated by guitarist/vocalist Chip King’s penetrating vocal screech. The clan also recruited Leslie Weitz (Otesanek), Chrissy Wolpert (Assembly Of Light Choir) and Reba Mitchell (Whore Paint) for vocal contributions throughout the torrid endeavor adding an array of eerie dynamics to the songs.
"Saddened confessions of mental anguish are ended with a pump of a shotgun, a sludgy foreshadowing of the coming explosion of tortured screams. Feedback and noise erupt into the slow crush and the bellowing of an end to beliefs and an end to these truths... More...

Ash Avildsen, founder of Summer Slaughter, comments on this year's edition of the tour: “It's year seven and I think 2013's line-up is the most exciting and diverse yet. Slaughter has never been a one dimensional experience for fans. This year is a true testament to that as we have an amazing mix of extreme music's influential icons and leaders of the new school. Let the underground unite!"
Greg Puciato (Dillinger Escape Plan vocalist) states: “We can't wait to get back on the road! We're launching a US tour in the spring, hitting Europe for some festivals and club shows, and then hitting several more cities with Summer Slaughter all summer long. We are absolutely amped. After being holed up in the studio for such a long time giving birth to One of Us is the Killer, we are all pent up and ready to share material new and old with our supporters doing what we love to do the most. Can't wait to see and either kiss or rip off each and every one of your faces on the road with Summer Slaughter and year round, everywhere.”
Artlantica has signed a worldwide deal with Steamhammer/SPV. The debut album "Across The Seven Seas" will be released in Germany on May 24th, in Europe on May 27th, and in North America on June 4th as CD and digital download (incl. 1 bonus track "Stormbringer"). Guitarist Roger Staffelbach says about the signing:
"After all the blood, sweat and tears we've put into making that album, we're more than happy and excited to see our album getting released by one of worlds finest companies, SPV/Steamhammer. It's a true pleasure to work with Olly Hahn and all at SPV and we're confident that this is only the beginning. A big hello and thank you go out to Olly Hahn, all at SPV and Peter Knorn from our Management (UTM) for sharing our vision and making this happen."
A&R Steamhammer Olly Hahn ads: "What do we have here: great melodies, awesome guitar virtuosity and a tight band which knows how to play melodic metal how it should be. We are more than happy to welcome Artlantica to the SPV family!"
The following press release was also issued about the band and coming album:
"Great vocal melodies with anthemic potential, virtuoso guitar and keyboard passages including spectacular solos, in addition to a blistering rhythm section which gives the songs their pace, groove and dynamics: the very ingredients which guaranteed seven brilliant releases in ten years from the American-Swiss cult act Artension and caused a global stir on The End Of Never, the only album by Artension's successor Angel Of Eden, also inspire listeners on Artlantica's debut album Across The Seven Seas.
"Which doesn't really come as a surprise: after all, Artlantica features three of the most important driving forces behind Angel of Eden in guitarist Roger Staffelbach, frontman John West and keyboardist Mistheria. In addition, Staffelbach and West (Artension, Royal Hunt) belonged to Artension (together with Vitalij Kuprij (now Trans-Siberian Orchestra), among others), and Mistheria has made a name for himself with his collaborations with Bruce Dickinson and Rob Rock. All three are without a doubt real masters of their trade who have combined their talents to present ten brilliant new songs. Staffelbach describes the result as 'powerful, heavy occasionally majestic, grooving, melodious and timeless. Each instrument has its place, none of them sound too dominant, everything has only one purpose - to serve the song.' A perfect description of Across The Seven Seas." More...

Today, MSN Entertainment offers the exclusive North American premiere of Dust Bolt's "Toxic Attack" video. Check out the video right here or in the player below.
The song hails from Dust Bolt's debut album for Napalm Records, "Violent Retribution," released last August. Hailed by Metal Hammer as "neck-snapping fun" and recommended by MSN Entertainment "if you're into excellent thrash metal that honors its roots rather than sound like a limp imitation," Dust Bolt demonstrate with "Violent Demolition" that the band is hungry, bursting with energy and highly explosive.
The following press release was also issued about the band: "The love for Bay Area thrash metal is evident in the songs of the German quartet, but the use of modern elements gives their sound a highly unique character. The band even corralled Sepultura's Derrick Green to participate on the track 'Deviance' for the perfect finishing touch, with Andrei Bouzikov (Municipal Waste) providing the fitting artwork." Israel's very own Orphaned Land is in the final stages of recording a 6th full-length album. The name of the new album will be "All Is One," and it will see the light of day on June 24th in Europe and June 25th in North America via Century Media Records.
Vocalist Kobi Farhi comments about the new album and the progressive evolution of the band's music:
"I'll say it plain and simple - 'All Is One' is Orphaned Land's best album so far, I feel that we took all aspects to a new level - the way we write, arrange, play and produce. We recorded the album in 3 countries (Turkey, Sweden & Israel) and it turned out so strong, we can't stop listening to it. The album is very rich with more than 40 people participating (singer choirs, many violins, and many traditional instruments too).
"Our secret in the band was always the fact that unlike many other bands, Orphaned Land doesn't follow ONE master mind that writes everything, we work in a way that All Is One. We create our music in a perfect blend of synergy and harmony and all the band members are a part of this process, we translate the album's title and message exactly in the way we work, and we always hope we could give a bit of an inspiration to the people in the tragic Middle Eastern lands.
"We have fans all over the Middle East, we live in a place where huge amounts of people who consider themselves to be enemies still share one thing in common, they are all fans of Orphaned Land, and in these lands of orphans and bloody holy wars our only weapon is music, and hopefully we will grow to understand that All Is One." "The production was taken care of by the talented Stelios 'Stelth' Koslidis and the cover art designed by Colin Marks. This song is a brutal statement of what is to come. Look out for the band smashing the UK and Europe in Autumn/ Winter 2013!"
Zack Kinsey and Brent Hedtke are the masterminds behind the death/doom project Vulgaari. Starting out as a personal project that eventually found its way onto Bandcamp, the duo worked on collecting enough songs to put together a self-titled album late last year.
Both of them bring their own musical tastes to the band, and that makes for some fascinating dynamics at play. Hedtke’s lead work has a bluesy twist that clashes with Kinsey’s harsh background, and the harmonies the two guitarists engage in are never dull.
I had a chance to speak to both members of Vulgaari about the songwriting process for their first album and making the perfect set list for a live show. More...
