Stream Screaming Beast's Full Album

Metalunderground.com is proud to premeire the full album stream of Screaming Beast's latest, "Our New Narrative of Hate." The album will be self-released on March 23, 2018.

Formed from the depths of the much revered Manchester (UK) metal scene, Screaming Beast fuses heavy metal and the swagger of the deep south to bring you groovy and bluesy melodic metal. The band began as the project of vocalist Anton War and drummer Daniel Mucs in the summer of 2013. Once songs took shape, the band released the first EP “Blistering Lies” in February of 2014, followed by a second EP “To Assail and Conquer” in September 2015.

Soon after these releases, sights for the stage were set, and the bands line-up was solidified. Daniel and Anton are joined by Arun Kamath (guitar, backing vocals), Rory Vallely (guitar) and Jason Hartley-Smith (bass, backing vocals).

Lyrically, the band draws on a healthy mix of personal experience and outward commentary. While not wishing to preach or force a particular message upon anyone, the listener is taken on a journey through the mind-set of the songs protagonists.

After a successful live outing with the full line up in November 2017, Screaming Beast brings you their debut album “Our New Narrative of Hate” in 2018.

The track list for "Our New Narrative of Hate" is as follows:

1. This Dawn This Day
2. World with Fate
3. Giving into Fear
4. Silent Submission
5. Despair
6. Lost and Betrayed
7. This Fray
8. Society of Slaves
9. The Nameless
10. Reborn

Finland's Ghastly premiere "Death By Meditation"

The second song from Finnish death metaller's forthcoming album, "Death By Meditation" is now streaming on Metal Injection.

The album is called "Death Velour" and will the trio's second release. It will be issued by 20 Buck Spin on April 20.

Labels and critics alike seem to have trouble categorizing Ghastly's sound - terms such as "hallucinogenic", "nightmarish" and "psych-induced" are being thrown around - but they're certainly making an impression.

Listen to the first track released, "Velvet Blue", on Bandcamp. Pre-orders are also available on that site.

Sepultura Celebrates 20 Years With Derrick Green

The nineties were truly a dark time for metal music, with many bands breaking up, changing their sound or being swept aside after the explosion of grunge music. There were however a few bands who were able to break into public consciousness, such as Pantera, Machine Head, Type O Negative and, from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Sepultura. Over their thirty plus year career, the group has demonstrated a variety of different metal styles and helped pioneer some of their own, thanks to the experimentation with tribal music on the "Chaos A.D."and "Roots" albums. Co-founder Max Cavalera left the band at the end of 1996 and was replaced by American singer, Derrick Green, who made his recording debut with Sepultura on the 1998 album, "Against."

On the first date of their UK tour in Bristol, England, I was able to meet up with guitarist Andreas Kisser and singer Derrick Green to discuss the long, storied history of the group, as well as progress on the Sepultura documentary, their latest album, "Machine Messiah," why writing concept albums is like MacGuyver and whether Kisser has any plans to record another solo release soon.

On writing concept albums since 2006's, "Dante XXI":

"In a respect, all albums are like this. From The Beatles having love as a concept and "Sgt. Pepper's", which was possibly the first album to have a collection of songs become one thing, to Pink Floyd's, "The Wall" and stuff, to collect songs as a whole rather than just tracks, we like that very much. Even with 'Machine Messiah' some people are calling it prog!"

The Exploited On Health, Legacy And Brexit

Some bands wear their hearts on their sleeves. Others don't just represent their beliefs, they embody them. Manowar, it could be said, were the embodiment of heavy metal, George Clinton was funk personified and if ever there was a band that were punk incarnate, it's Edinburgh's own, The Exploited. With no less than eight stellar albums over thirty nine years, the group has given the world such anthems as, "Punk's Not Dead," "UK82" and "Fuck The U.S.A." and despite lineup changes, feuds with other bands and musicians and health problems, the Scottish legends are still going strong today. At a recent show in Bristol, I had the pleasure of sitting down with iconic frontman Wattie Buchan, as well as his brother, Wully, who plays drums in the band, to discuss a variety of subjects such as punk, Brexit, why they were banned from Top Of The Pops and what was redeeming about Margaret Thatcher "being a cunt."

On his recent health problems, Wattie said:

"I've had like five heart attacks, quadruple bypass, a gastric bypass, two hernia operations and a blood clot. I should be dead, that's what six doctors have told me but now I'm easily in the best shape I've been for ten years."

Lesser Glow Readies Debut Album, "Ruined"

Boston-based melodic post metal/doom collective Lesser Glow -- featuring former members of Black Elm, Irepress, and The Proselyte -- will release their debut full-length Ruined this June via Pelagic Records. With "Ruined," Lesser Glow rips open a massively wide and confident blend of traditional doom meets melodic metal, paired with the likes of hardcore, post hardcore, noise rock, post rock and beyond. "Ruined" will see release on June 8th on CD, LP, and digital formats. The album is available for preorder in North America here and in Europe here. Digital orders are available here.

"I was caught in a major '90s binge, listening to a bunch of stuff like Unsane and Failure, and feeling like that raw, palpable energy and songwriting was slipping away from modern heavy records," comments main songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Andrew Nault, who is not only the guitarist in LESSER GLOW, but also session drummer for electro-post-hiphop outfit Arms And Sleepers. "I was tired of genre-choked bands, and missed hearing songs instead of riff parades."

The lineup of the band came together organically, "though now the combination of individuals feels incredibly fortunate," comments Nault. The fact that all members are experienced professionals - engineers and session musicians - has certainly helped LESSER GLOW to accomplish the simplicity that makes this record what it is: Heavy.

"I tried to keep that simplicity in mind during the recording process, don't over play or worry about shredding to fill space," adds bass player Scott Conza. "Just as important as choosing when to play, is choosing when not to play."

Here's the "Ruined" track listing:

1. Ruined
2. Vacant Throne
3. Tel Meggido
4. Empty Eyes
5. Fall On Mortal Decay
6. Under The Polar Shade

Lesser Glow is:

Alec Rodriguez - vocals
Andrew Nault - guitar
Ben Gram - guitar
Scott Conza - bass
Seth Botos - drums
