As I Lay Dying vocalist Tim Lambesis commented:
“It's hard to believe that we've been a band for as long as we have yet have never released an official DVD documenting our first 7 years. As a result, we've included so much content that you hardly have to like our music to be entertained. With that said, it feels good knowing how many diehard fans over the years have supported our band and their simple enjoyment of our music has given us the chance to see the world!”
Here's the breakdown of the DVD features once more:
ADUST have signed to Glasstone Records for the release of their upcoming mini-album, "Question The Illogical."
ADUST was born and bred in Birmingham in 2007 taking influences from many bands giving them a wider range to appeal to more people and continue to write and perform the music they all love.
ADUST’s new mini-album "Question The Illogical," has a Stone Sour meets Lamb Of God meets Metallica meets Heaven Shall Burn sound.
The band shot a music video for their track "Forevermore," which gained them great exposure with SCUZZ.COM and ROCKWORLD.TV, with the video going straight to the top of the 'VOTED BEST' chart! (and to date has remained there)
You can check out some of Adust's music on their MySpace page.

Chi Cheng's mother has written a personal letter directly to her son's friends, fans and supporters. This will serve as a press release as it does offer news and updates on his condition. It also announces recent fundraising efforts launched to help aid in Chi Cheng's medical expenses and much needed therapy:
"This has been a difficult time since Chi was injured four months ago. He remains in a coma and is slowly waking up. The entire Cheng family would like to take this opportunity to extend our tremendous gratitude for the worldwide outpouring of prayers, love and support. You have opened your hearts and have been the blessings that have made our situation bearable. Your kind words, shared stories, doing the 'good deed of the day' (which I would love to start again), and most of all your prayers for Chi have kept us from feeling alone or helpless. There have been so many faces and names that would always show up when I could get to a computer. It was like going home to see you sharing and caring. More...
Anti-label Death To Music Production has released two new electro-industrial albums for free download: Onirica's "Exile" and Fluid's "Unavoidable Abuses." As usual, you need only to sign up for their newsletter to get the download codes.
ONIRICA's "Exile" sounds like Joe Meek after a marathon listening of noisy industrial music. This is a slight departure from the last Onirica release, but still with remnants of the former. This features the track "If To Smoke You Turn," as featured on last month's "F**K EM ALL; Vol 4" compilation. All music is by J. Aguila of Catalonia, Spain.
FLUID'a "Unavoidable Abuses" is a Death To Music first for multi-project musician Christophe Gilmore, the self-described aka "Post-Human Cyborg: subduxtion." The label describe this album as "Godflesh crossed with Tool and ambient soundscapes - 31st century black avant-garde music."

Metallica Blog Magnetic has posted a firsthand account of Metallica's "secret" SXSW performance:
Metallica pulled out all the stops during their spectacular set at Austin's South by Southwest Festival. Metallica was a surprise guest; on SXSW's official schedule, they were listed as Volsung, a metal band from "Somewhere, Norway."
Droves of die-hard fans, catching wind of the rumors, lined up all day outside Stubb's, where Metallica 18-wheelers parked outside.
Just before 10pm — after sets by the Silversun Pickups and a bunch of dudes who played Metallica's "Fuel" on "Guitar Hero" — the stage lights dimmed, and the speakers began to rattle the famous instrumental intro. A steady cheer began to build through the capacity crowd (and outside Stubb's, too, where hundreds of badge-less Metallica fans watched from a nearby parking garage), growing with intensity with each orchestral swell. It eventually reached a full roar, and then, lo and behold, the music stopped and there they were — Metallica, in the flesh.
Shortly after the band took the stage, frontman James Hetfield shouted "Surprise!," sarcastically referring to the not-so-well-kept secret that the band would be performing at the Guitar Hero Metallica party, celebrating the launch of their version of the popular video game next week.
"We're a young band from Norway and we want to get signed," Metallica frontman James Hetfield told the audience at the heavy metal band's SXSW performance. "This is the best kept secret in rock and roll. We thought we'd come join you for your party." James Hetfield of Metallica told a sweaty crowd of 2,000 or so at Stubb's. "Is that all right?" The roar came back affirmative.

Until now, Steven Wilson has led a life of musical schizophrenia. Best known as the singer-guitarist-songwriter-producer of Porcupine Tree, a progressive metal band signed to Atlantic records, Wilson has multiple musical personalities -- and multiple bands to house them all. Bass Communion, for instance, is an outlet for Wilson’s love of textural ambient music. Blackfield, a collaboration with Israeli superstar Aviv Geffen, affords Wilson an opportunity to showcase his pop forte in a rock context. And No-Man, a long-running project with singer Tim Bowness, creates ambitious art-rock soundscapes.
As Wilson puts it, “Some days I wake up and want to make drone music. Some days I wake up and want to make pop music. Some days I wake up and want to make progressive music or heavy metal.”
The British musician has finally found a way to reconcile his disparate identities: a solo album. The just-released “Insurgentes” (K-Scope) showcases Wilson’s uncanny knack for crafting memorable hooks even as it serves as a portfolio for Wilson’s wide range of influences. With one conspicuous exception, that is. The death-metal riffage of recent Porcupine Tree records is notably absent. “I don’t know why that is, actually,” muses Wilson, before noting, “There are heavy moments and it’s a very dark and twisted record.” More...

Italian metallers Elvenking have issued the following announcement about their guitarist breaking his shoulder in a skiing accident:
"We’re sorry to inform you that Saturday March 7th guitarist Aydan broke his shoulder in a ski accident. He’s been forced to undergo surgery in order to reduce the damages.
“I was skiing with some friends” reports Aydan “I don’t know exactly what happened but I lost my skis and jumped above, landing heavily with my shoulders and face on a block of ice hard as concrete. My shoulder was broken and I was operated on Thursday 12th. The doctors placed a metal plate fixed with 9 screws in order to maintain the bone. Pretty cool! Now I am finally back home but I still cannot move the arm. Obviously I am not able to play guitar at the moment, but I will do anything to be able to be back on stage as soon as possible”.
"Elvenking will use the services of guitarist Leonardo… replacing Aydan for the upcoming March live dates."

Megadeth drummer, Shawn Drover, has checked in with the following update from Paris:
"After 2 subsequent 15 plus hour drives, finally arriving here in Paris, France late in the day, the LAST thing I wanted to do was to go on any sight-seeing excursion - My brain is just too BBQ at the moment, so I opted to just slowly settle in and then go for a short walk (with Willie Gee, which is always entertaining for me, esp. if we stop to get any kind of food - those of you who know Willie, know exactly what I am talking about) Anyways, it was a nice afternoon, and as I write this, I am contemplating either going for another short walk, or just watching 30 Rock episodes until I fall into silent slumber - It's a toss-up, believe me.
"I have been reflecting on this current 'Priest Feast' European tour, and in all honesty, speaking for myself, this has been a career highlight for me on so many different levels. We all get along so well on this tour - Bands, crews, right down to the awesome catering, it has just been a very smooth tour for me. In my 5th year in Megs, at this point I have really seen and done alot of great things, though I constantly remind myself how lucky I am to be able to do what I was put on this planet to do, and not get jaded about it or take it for granted. The way the economy has been and knowing that old friends of mine are struggling in their respective fields, it does put thing's in perspective, believe me.
"3 shows remain on this tour, and I will make the most of it. That I can assure you."
Here are Megadeth's upcming tour dates:
Mar. 21 Paris, France - Zenith de Paris
Mar. 22 Brussels, Belgium - Forest National
Mar. 23 Amsterdam, Netherlands - Heineken Music Hall
Apr. 07 Los Angeles, CA - Club Nokia
Bay area thrashers Antagonist have issued the following update about acquiring a new guitar player:
"Hey everyone, time for another Antagonist update! We have a lot of stuff to talk about, so get ready...you ready? okay. here we go...
"First off, we'd like to say THANKS to everyone that came out to see us on these last few tours of the Northwestern and Southwestern United States! Special thanks goes out to our buddies in Last House on the Left for putting up with our childish bullshit on the road. Please check them out if you have a chance, they're on our top friends and they will rule your chonies!
"Now that we're back home, we have time to discuss a few very important things, the first one being the addition of a new member to the Antagonist family, our new guitarist and long time friend, Roland Leonard! He's filled in for the last few tours after the departure of our boy Matt Lopez, and he's done a FANTASTIC job. He was originally just a fill-in but he ended up pretty much blowing us away with his guitar playing ability AND his unique songwriting skills. And the fact that he's just a downright cutie pie doesn't hurt either! So next time you're at one of our shows, please welcome him with open arms, like Steve Perry would want it!
"Next on the agenda is our brand new online MERCH STORE!! We've been lagging it HARD on this end, but we've finally gotten around to building ourselves a sweet bigcartel merch empire (not really, but we have some shit for sale). The url for the merch store is Antagonist.bigcartel.com, and there will definitely be a sweet banner on our page that'll directly link you to the store. Right now there's only a few items for sale, including our new album EXIST, but there will be lots of other designs added as the days go by, so keep checking back! More...

Metallica has issued the following update about their upcoming induction into the rock and roll hall of fame:
"The Hall of Fame induction is just a little over two weeks away and we thought that you just might be interested to know that our friend Flea from the Chili Peppers will be joining us doing the honors of inducting us to the Hall.
"As a refresher, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place at Cleveland Public Hall on April 4, 2009, and will be televised live on Fuse and available on www.fuse.tv. The 2009 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees were chosen by the 600 voters of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation . . . and believe it or not your first recording must be 25 years old or more (how can that be?!?!).
"Our fellow inductees and their presenters are listed below: More...
Contraband Candy has posted a video interview with legendary death metal band Cannibal Corpse, who have sold more albums than any other death metal band ever.
Cannibal Corpse discusses the current death metal scene, their attitude to controversy, stuff about the latest album, their artwork policy, and what they like to do and listen to when they are not tearing up the world with their particularly vile, shock and awe metal assault.
You can check out the interview below. More...
Chrome Division, featuring Dimmu Borgir's Shagrath, has checked in with the following update:
"There's a lot of things happening in the Chrome-camp nowadays.
"First off, the live situation is brighter than ever. Two more festivals in Germany are confirmed. Details will follow later. Then the Underworld Club of London, England will most certainly get Chromed in a near future. Then there's rumours of a trip over to the U.S., more spesific Los Angeles, to show the Americans what Norwegian Doomsday Rock'n'Roll is all about.
It's then appropriate that all the guitarist in Chrome Division is newly sponsored by Peavey amps and cabs for the ultimate live sound.
"Further more, the band is busy at rehearsals making more smokin' Rock for the third release. Four songs are ready and the fumes of burning rubber is rising once again. Stay tuned."
