The following update has been posted on the official Helix website:
Over 630 rabid Helix fans turned out last night (at Hot Stix in London, ON) to rock on with the new line-up of the band. Thanks to the "Helix Army” we sold out the joint. It was our first time playing since last fall and we were all itchin’ to get at it, as they say. Some of the new songs in the set include 'You’re A Woman Now', 'Billy Oxygen', and 'Kiss Yer Ass Goodbye'. Brian Doerner (drums) kicked ass and I fell on my ass (twice!) during our 90 minute set. I have the walnut-sized lump on my right elbow to prove it. Watch out Alberta-by the time we get there in April we’re gonna be tearin’ it up! We now have new tour shirts and posters designed for our upcoming April tour of Alberta. Once again the shirts have been designed and pressed up by D.N.A. silkscreening in Kitchener, Ontario. D.N.A. has won awards not only for their designs but also for their quality shirts. The posters were put together by Sylvain Vallee, who also helped design the Rockin’ In My Outer Space CD cover.
To view the shirts head here.

Necrophagia frontman Killjoy recently spoke to Unholiestgoddess from The Dirt about the group's upcoming album, "Harvest Ritual Vol. 1". An excerpt from the interview follows:
The Dirt: "Harvest Ritual Vol. 1" is finally coming after a long time in the making. You've always promised Necrophagia would continue to get sicker and more vile. Describe "Harvest Ritual".
Killjoy: "'Harvest Vol. 1' is a very creepy, heavy and diverse record for us. It continues taking our base sound way further into realms of utter horror, and it's easily our best release thus far. The songs are all very catchy without losing the extreme metal roots which we will always have, but it's definitely a whole new side that will continue to be taken further with each release in the future. There's a really vile song called 'Stitch Her Further' that Joey Jordison [SLIPKNOT] co-wrote. It's just sick!!!"
The Dirt: Rumor has it that Bill Mosely, who plays Chop Top in "Texas Chainsaw Massacre II" and Otis in Zombie's "House of 1000 Corpses" in involved. How has he contributed to this project?
Killjoy: "Bill is a very good friend. I met him a few years back and we hit it off. He portrays a morbid schitzo disc jockey introducing one of the songs called 'London (13 Demon Street)' and will also be in the video for the song as well. He's truly a very talented and great guy for sure."
The Dirt: Are there any elements of this new album that longtime Necrophagia fans might be surprised by?
Killjoy: "I think by now most know to expect the unexpected. We are audio horror — a horror/gore film in music medium. We follow no guidelines, no trends. There's a song called 'Akumu', which means 'Nightmare' in Japanese, and it's kind of like a morbid nursery rhyme/song with a layer of clean vocals, which is a first for Necrophagia for sure .. ha ha... but all in all it's a very heavy, dark and creepy record for sure .. very unique."
The Dirt: What kind of bloody, violent horrors do you have planned for the stage show during the tour?
Killjoy: "We're currently having the new stage props designed now for the 'Harvesting the Dead' 2005-06 Tour. We've got a lot of sick and disturbing images, but I really don't wanna give too much away in advance. We wanna do things in a very sick, twisted and gory way without becoming a parody ala GWAR. So there is a fine line between horrific and overkill. But we know what we're doing and it's gonna be depraved for sure!!!"
The Dirt: You've spent most of this year in the studio. Are you feeling claustrophobic? Are you excited about getting out on the road?
Killjoy: "Yeah, it has been a very looong process. We've never spent 10 months recording before so it's just really insane at this point. But we're done and it was very much worth it. The sacrifice was not in vain. We've come up with something very unique, which is a rarity these days. We will never lose our roots, only expand upon them without ever losing the true heaviness and sickness which is the core of our sound."
The Dirt: How long a tour do you have planned and what areas will it cover?
Killjoy: "We are still looking at different touring possibilities. We definitely wanna start in the USA this time so we are looking at that. We might tour with Dangzig but nothing is certain. Hopefully within the next month things will be more clear and then I'll update you for sure."

Sanctuary Records have issued this press release regarding Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson's forthcoming new solo album, "Tyranny Of Souls", scheduled for release on May 24:
Bruce Dickinson is an artist who has influenced thousands of singers, musicians and fans alike in his outstanding role as the front man of legendary band Iron Maiden. He has achieved great success as a solo artist, and is also acclaimed as a Radio DJ, TV presenter, pilot, author and voice of modern music.
It has been seven years since Dickinson released his last solo album, "The Chemical Wedding," which received massive critical acclaim while exploring intriguing and dark themes. The intervening years have seen him make a highly successful return to Iron Maiden, with two huge albums and record breaking live shows and tours.
"Tyranny Of Souls," Bruce's new solo venture, sees him return once again to collaborate with guitarist/producer/writer Roy Z. The album's cover is adorned with a 15th century depiction of Hell by Hans Hemling and the music continues along this path to explore dark, apocalyptic themes. Delving into science, theology and of course, his love of flight, with thought provoking, intelligent and menacing lyrics that are sure to leave the listener's mind unsettled, "Tyranny Of Souls" is pure Dickinson. Heavy riff-laden songs and explosive virtuoso guitar work from Roy joined with the definitive Dickinson soaring vocals, makes this ground breaking album a tour de force of modern Metal. It was following on from the end of the last Maiden tour that Bruce saw an opportunity to work alongside Roy again.
Dickinson says, "With Maiden, once the band has finished up on the tours, we all tend to go our separate ways and do our own thing for a while until it's time to saddle up again for the next album. I knew I could seize the chance to work with Roy in between his work on the new Judas Priest album. We both work quickly together which I like and the recording is very organic so it came together quite easily. I'm very proud of it."
"Tyranny Of Souls" track listing:
01. Mars Within (Intro)
03. Soul Intruders
04. Kill Devil Hill
05. Navigate The Seas Of The Sun
06. River Of No Return
07. Power Of the Sun
08. Devil On A Hog
10. A Tyranny Of Souls
Polish death metal kings Vader have parted ways with longtime drummer Doc. In a press release on their official website, band leader Peter had this to say:
We have been building "the Vader's Empire" together since '88... The success of our music was no doubt the success of Doc himself. Not just a talent is but the main point of being a part of a BAND, not only musical abilities but - first of all - devotion, utterance.... We had already such a problems before (Shambo, Simon..). Doc pretty hard tried to "fight" against his weaknesses, which were troubles for all of us. Finally he had not prevail over that battle... All in all he attempted. VADER today is not just a friendship anymore - it's our life with armies of man involved in music, releases and - first of all - fans waiting for shows or new albums... This is a high responsibility, not too many know about. If a person, even the most talented one, cannot stand it - has to leave... That was Doc's decision as well. "But the world keeps turnin'..." and the same is with VADER. We were and we will be!!!
For Doc, his girlfriend and newborn son we all wish good luck and wanna thank him for all those great years, in which we were touring across the world!!!
From now Daray has been officially confirmed as a new drummer of the band. Not really brand new, he has been playing with the band since one year and recorded the latest album "The Beast".
Roadrunner Records is in the process of putting together a groundbreaking record to mark the label's 25th Anniversary. Tentatively titled "Roadrunner All-Stars", the full length release, a 'master-class' in hard rock, will contain original tracks that are collaborations between past and present Roadrunner stars.
Four central musicians will be chosen to produce and write all the songs. Those chosen thus far are Joey Jordison (Slipknot), Dino Cazares (ex-Fear Factory/Brujeria) and Robert Flynn (Machine Head). The fourth writer/producer is yet to be named. These four musicians will not only play on the songs they have written but also assemble a unique team of artists to appear on each track. In order to cover as wide a spectrum as possible, no musician will play for more than one writer/producer and each song will feature a different vocalist.
Musicians who have already recorded for this project are Dino Cazares (ex-Fear Factory/Brujeria), Andreas Kisser (Sepultura), Paul Gray (Slipknot), Roy Mayorga (ex-Soulfly), Logan Mader (ex-Machine Head), Marcelo Dias (ex-Soulfly), Dave McClain (Machine Head), Nadja Peulen (ex-Coal Chamber) and Mike Sarkisyan (Spineshank). More...
Ricardo Dias, guitarist of the Portuguese gothic metal band HEAVENWOOD, has left the band. He has also left a side project called BEYOND THE LITANY where he was playing as a guest musician. Now he is doing another new and more rock oriented project in the vein of VELVET REVOLVER, PLACEBO or QUOTSA together with Luiz, drummer from SECRECY, Fitti (former HEAVENWOOD bass player) and Diogo Viera (who was in some Pop / Electronic bands). The project still has no name.
HEAVENWOOD was originally formed as a death metal band under the monicker Disgorged in 1992. They have so far released two full-length albums for the German label Massacre Records - "Diva" (1996) and "Swallow" (1998).
UK black metallers ANAAL NATHRAKH have posted the following message:
Following the recent live session, the BBC will be taking the arguably irresponsible step of broadcasting Anaal Nathrakh playing as a full band from their Maida Vale studios. The show goes out on the evening of the 22nd of March at 1am UK time, and can also be heard through the BBC website both live and for a week or so after broadcast. 3 tracks were performed with, as mentioned, a full band lineup comprising the Anaal Nathrakh duo, Shane Embury ( NAPALM DEATH), Nick Barker ( ex- DIMMU BORGIR), Ventnor and Chemical Nova.
The recordings were described at the BBC studio as a 'grotesque abomination'. This is considered apposite by all involved.
Finland's HEVEIN have posted a sample from the group’s new single, ‘iOta’. Due for release on April 6th through Spinefarm Records, the sample of ‘iOta’ can be found here.
The single will also include the track ‘Worth Fighting For’. Hevein plan to release their debut album later this year.
Less a musician on the scene! Yngve Hanssen, the bassist player of the Norwegian Power Metal band Gaia Epicus died in a car crash on 2nd March 2005, sad to know he died so young!! R.I.P.
Germany's premier black thrashing artillery Desaster have inked a deal with Metal Blade Records. Their next album "Angelwhore" will be released on CD format via Metal Blade. The vinyl version will be released via Iron Pegasus Records.
The band is currently in the songwriting stage. The release of their new neckbreaking bonecrusher is scheduled for August 2005.
British Black metallers Reign of Erebus have posted the following:
After 8 years of fronting England's Reign of Erebus, founder member Cthonian has stepped down. The remaining members - Crucem, Xael and Ewchymlaen - support and understand his choice entirely. His decision comes during the final stages of preparing new material to record, in the interest of seeking a new label since the band left Blackend/PHD last September. Ewchymlaen (guitars) will perform the vocals for this forthcoming demo. Cthonian may yet carry on with music, possibly with a new project, but he believes he has done all he could for Reign of Erebus and his decision allows the band to find a vocalist more appropriate to the new material.
Crucem: "this hasn't come as much of a surprise to us, far too many musical differences were becoming more and more apparent, especially considering the new material that we are due to record, and we were soon to approach him about his future with the band. I respect his choice, there's no ill feeling whatsoever and we relish the thought of bringing in a new vocalist. However, we will not be looking for a direct carbon copy replacement. We think it is time to expand creatively with the vocals, something more diverse, but certainly very harsh, dark and twisted."
Contact the band at: firstname.lastname@example.org
A temporary version of Beatallica.org is now back online. The band plan to relaunch the site in its entirety once the new song (and its 13 international versions) is all mixed. There's no exact date for this launch and release, as it depends on how quickly the producer/engineer can finish it.
