"Fittingly titled 'Scars,' the ravaging 12-track follow-up to the last year’s Rise From Treason teaser EP (reviewed here) is an old-school death metal flashback that brings listeners to a time when bands like Entombed, Grave and Dismember proved how insanely brutal yet immensely captivating and technically adept extreme music can be.
"With a lineup as heavy as their musical adventure, The Resistance features within its ranks some of Scandinavia’s most esteemed musicians with In Flames’ founder (and main songwriter until his departure in 2010) Jesper Strömblad on guitar alongside second guitarist Glenn Ljungström (ex-In Flames), vocalist Marco Aro (ex-The Haunted, Facedown) and drummer Chris Barkensjö (ex-Kaamos, ex-Repugnant)."
“If you listen to Entombed's Left Hand Path today, it still blows everything away. And it's over 20 years old,” says Strömblad, the main musical force behind Stockholm/Gothenburg based squad. As for the outcome of "Scars," Strömblad sums it up simply: “It’s just awesome death metal!”

"The frenetic energy of the quintet’s live shows carries through on the album, the whirlwind of eclectic punk, angular post-hardcore riffage and noise rock elements infiltrated by elements of artistic Americana where mangled, wailing and mocking vocals coalesce with angst-ridden guitars and even banjo segments. 'Burnt Books' was captured at The Jam Room with Phillip Cope (Kylesa, Baroness, Dark Castle) and mastered by Colling Jordan (YOB, Twilight)."

"Hey everyone, I wanted to update you on where we are currently at with the recording of our 5th full length album. We officially started tracking about a month ago and by the end of this week we will be completely finished with the tracking phase of the album. Dustin wrapped up bass yesterday and Matt just put the finishing touches on his drums by sprinkling some overdubs (tambourine, shakers, conga, etc) over a bunch of songs. JB and Brent wrapped up all their guitars last week and Jake will be done recording vocals in a couple days.
"What does all this mean? Well, we are nearly done with the hard work aspect of this album and can get into the mixing, which is the fun stuff. While nearly all the elements are in place, the levels of each instrument are all over the place. We’ll be spending all of next week mixing the album and making sure it sounds awesome. After working on this intensely for the last few months, we are beyond excited to hear all the elements come together.
"I’m terrible at describing our music so I’ll just say that this album is going to be a really fun listen with a lot of meat to sink your teeth into. We can’t wait for you to hear it!"

"First let me say this. When Mark, Rick, and I embarked on this new venture of doing a new Warlord album, I had no intention of doing any live shows, mostly because of my health situation (as many of you know). However, when we were invited by Oliver Weinsheimer of 'KEEP IT TRUE' to headline that German festival, and when I received clearance from my doctor that I could physically endure such a trip to Europe, suddenly we were approached by Greek promoters as well. Now, Thessaloniki and Athens were on the table.
"I realized (along with Mark) that the Warlord fans would primarily want to hear 'classic Warlord.' And as you know, there is a distinction between the 'classic Warlord' sound and the 'new Warlord' sound (which will one day become 'classic' as well). Although Rick is the perfect (ideal) singer for the 'new' Warlord, I knew we had to find someone who could approximate the 'higher range' style of the early Warlord vocalists. I had heard our friend Giles Lavery sing 'Lucifer's Hammer' already and I asked him to send me an audition tape of five songs... here, you will find excerpts from that audition tape (no 20 minute trailer here), and you will understand 'why' I (we) decided to go with someone like Giles, who is not only a great vocalist in the higher range (as well as the AOR style), but he is someone who has been a Warlord fan since his youth, and is a person who understands the mindset of 'the Warlord fan.'
"In sum, 'Rick is better suited to sing the new Warlord material while Giles is better suited to sing the classic Warlord material.' So, here is a taste of Giles Lavery as the Warlord vocalist for the upcoming live shows. The other players as mentioned above will be: Philip Bynoe (bass), Paolo Viani (guitar), and Angelo Vefeiadis (keyboards)."
Giles is also slated to provide vocals on the track "Kill Zone" for the new release. For a taste of Lavery, Warlord posted his live singer audition, which can be heard here: More...
