Reunited Torrington, Connecticut-based thrash/hardcore act ATROCITY (not to be confused with the German band) have signed with Open Grave Records for a brand new full-length album, due out late 2007/early 2008. Earlier this year Open Grave Records released ATROCITY's "Contaminated", which featured alternative recordings from the original, "Infected" sessions back in 1990.
Formed in early 1985 by Rob Wedda (vocals), Rich Flint (bass), Scott Reynolds (guitar) and Jeff White (drums), ATROCITY had pushed out three demos ("Toxic Death", "Ravaged by Disease", "Mangled") and a self-financed seven-inch EP, entitled "Hatred Birth", by 1989. They soon caught the attention of U.K.-based Metalcore Records, a subsidiary of Plastichead Distribution, whom they ultimately signed with.
ATROCITY's first album, "Infected" (1990), is very raw and featured a very violent death metal/grind sound. The second album, "The Art of Death" (1992), saw a lineup change when Scott left the band and was replaced by Jesse Piechowski on guitar.

A final mastered track from Orlando, Florida's Dead Mens Dreams entitled "Stalked By The Dead" has been posted online. You can listen to this track on Diabolus Music's MySpace page.

OSM Records has set a May 14 release date for the reissue of LAAZ ROCKIT's "City's Gonna Burn." Originally released in 1984, "City's Gonna Burn" was remastered by Colin Davis at Imperial Mastering. The artwork was updated by Mark DeVito of MetalBabies.com. The CD will be issued with bonus tracks.
Over the course of the next year, OSM Records plans to remaster and re-release LAAZ ROCKIT's back catalog all the way up 1989's "Annihilation Principle" LP.
"Trap Them And Kill Them" has been remastered for the upcoming re-issue of IMPETIGO's "Horror of the Zombies" album on Razorback Records. The track was remastered by Patrick Bruss and can be heard on the official Razorback myspace page.
Look for the CD to be out in late April, with extensive liner notes from Stevo and more.
MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine recently spoke to KNAC.COM's Gnarly Charlie about the inspiration for the band's new song "Sleepwalker" from the upcoming CD, "United Abominations". "I was kind of getting bored with people taking snipes at me over the Internet," Mustaine explained. "I just thought it was really cowardly. It wasn't anybody famous; it was just constant stuff, especially one particular news site, in general. And I just thought, 'You know what? It would be really funny if I could go to sleep and just do astral planing and do a little ass-whooping and then wake up and not be held accountable for anything.' (laughs) You know it's kind of sad, because there are disorders where people do, like the Ambien sleepwalk. For me, a lot of it too, was some of the crime stuff that they do, you know, like the old mob movies, 'The Godfather' and stuff like that… I love '24', and I just watched this one thing where I went through every single season because I didn't even discover the series until last year and I watched the first four years all in a row, almost nonstop, with time to sleep and stuff a little food in my face. But, there was one scene where they were up on Mulholland and I just flashed back about these photographers that would say, 'Yeah, you're a model. Hey, here's my card. Let's go take pictures out in the woods.' Duh! You remember that one? He took her out in the woods and he killed her. It's so commonplace — we can identify with these tragedies and stuff like that, but when you think about how gullible a person is and the wickedness that some people have in their hearts when they take advantage of these people, it's like…first off, how could somebody be that naïve, and second off, where are the good guys that protect people from assholes like this?"
"United Abominations" is released on May 15, with the following tracklisting:
02. Washington Is Next!
03. Never Walk Alone
04. United Abominations
05. Gears Of War
06. Blessed Are The Dead
07. Play For Blood
08. A Tout Le Monde (Set Me Free) (feat. Cristina Scabbia)
10. You're Dead
11. Burnt Ice
HARAKIRI has begun auditioning replacements for singer Matt Reese, who left the band in January. The group has issued the following update:
"The search for a new vocalist is on. We've started the audition process. We have some good candidates for sure. We're hoping to wrap this up fairly soon so if anyone out there, who hasn't contacted us already, is still interested in trying out get with us asap. Or if you inquired about it but we didn't get back to you, message us again. Things were getting hectic there for a second and I am afraid some emails may have been missed.
We are steadily progressing on the writing of the songs for the new album (musically that is). We pretty much finished up another new one yesterday. We're anxious to get all this done and hit the studio and play some shows.
Anyway, we're alive and trying to push this forward as fast as we can. Once a vocalist is decided upon we'll throw up a demo track probably."
Montreal based NEURAXIS have announced that vocalist Alex Leblanc (ATHERETIC, POINT BLANK RAGE) has joined as permanent member of the band. The band comments:

American Hardcore captures the history of hardcore punk from Los Angeles through Washington D.C. and NYC, circa 1981-1986, based on the book of the same name by writer Steven Blush. Paul Rachman's documentary is a strong-willed outcry, which set a politically minded foundation for a lot of later bands.
Interviews with legends such as Ian MacKaye (Minor Threat), Henry Rollins of Black Flag, and H.R. (Bad Brain's fuel-injected dreadlock front-man) infect this DVD with power of such magnitude that you are transported into the sentiment of the time. The movie subtly points out the numbified herd mentality of the general populous, which gives the viewer a much needed kick in the arse when comparing the Reagan administration with the political state of today. Hardcore's aggression was a unified force-it didn't matter if you were a hoodlum, vegan, or straight-edge-at shows there was a sense of unity.
Edward Colver contributes a cornucopia of photos, keeping the movie true to the scene. The DVD also features live footage of Minor Threat, D.O.A, and the Circle Jerks.
I had the opportunity to sit down with Paul Rackman and Steven Blush and talk to them about the newly released American Hardcore DVD; I am grateful to bring this exclusive Q&A to longtime hardcore fans. More...
