Alice in Chains has issued the following update about rescheduling tonight's show in Charlotte due to illness:
"The flu bug has infiltrated the Alice In Chains camp and bit down hard. In light of this unforeseen situation, tonight's show in Charlotte has been postponed. Alice In Chains would like to sincerely apologize to all of their fans in Charlotte, particularly those that waited out in the snow.
"The show is rescheduled for April 20 at the Uptown Amphitheatre at the Music Factory, so if you have tickets, hold on to them. They will be honored. This means the Norfolk show at the Norva is no longer happening."
We've been talking to bands and fans everywhere to get their favorite mosh pit stories. This week AJ Jacobs of Mutiny Within tells a story that many of us can relate to, either because it happened to you or because you remember it happening to someone at a show.
"I was about 15 years old, went to see Children Of Bodom live, my favorite band at the time. So I was crowd surfing, screaming along with the lyrics, etc. Then I got into the pit, and oh man, I got my ass kicked. Not just that, but my sneaker came loose and I lost it. I had those big VANS sneakers, so it's no wonder it fell off.
"Anyway, so I only have 1 sneaker on at this point and I'm getting pushed further and further back in the venue. Then I saw an object getting thrown all the way to the ceiling several times. And of course, it was my shoe, people were just throwing it around.
"By the end of the show, I made it up to the barricade. When the last song ended and people started clearing out, I saw a bunch of random sneakers near the security guard. I said "Give me a left shoe!", so they did. It wasn't mine, but I wore it for the next week until I bought some new shoes. Needless to say, I steered away from VANS ever since."
Mutiny Within is currently touring North America with Sonata Arctica in support of their self-titled debut album, which was released on February 23rd. The band also had a track featured on the brand new "God of War III" EP. Finally, the band is only a few episodes into a 12-part documentary that can be seen at mutinywithin.com. New webisodes in the series are posted every Wednesday.
Check back every Tuesday for more tales from the mosh pit.

Ex Deo, the ancient Roman themed arsenal lead by Kataklysm frontman Maurizio Iacono, have released a teaser for their upcoming video “The Final War (Battle of Actium)." The video clip can be viewed below. The song also features a guest solo appearance from Karl Sanders of Nile. The clip will be released on March 15 (Ides of March) in honour of the god of war, Mars.
Vocalist Maurizio Iacono recently stated about the video: “After much discussion with the director Ivan Collic we decided to go with ‘The Final War (Battle Actium)’ as the next video clip for Romulus. I love the song ‘In Her Dark Embrace’, which was initially the planned video track, but we’ve decided to bring the whole production one step higher and film ‘The Final War (Battle Actium)’. The story line is amazing for this song and we will be able to capture not only Roman battle scenes and all the blood you want, but also the true story behind the war that turned Rome from a republic into an Empire. We’re going full force with this one!”
Italian metallers Secret Sphere have posted footage online of their performance of the song "Welcome to the Circus" in Bulgaria. The video clip can be viewed below.

Dutch metallers Officium Triste have checked in with the following band update about recruiting a new drummer and working on a new album:
"2010 is already 3 months on its way so it is about time to let you all know what’s going on with Officium Triste. We’ve got some bad news and some more exciting news. Let’s start with the bad news. We had to part ways with drummer Ronald Lagerwaard. Ronald simply couldn’t commit to the plans we have concerning Officium Triste’s future. Because of this we had to make a difficult decision as we really appreciated Ronald as a person and as a skilled drummer. As a band we do want to perform live on a regular basis and that simply wasn’t possible due to logistics and personal affairs. We like to thank Ronald for his time in Officium Triste.
"In the meantime we have found a replacement. After some serious brainstorming who would be an ideal drummer we decided to ask Niels Jordaan who in the past pounded the drums for the now defunct band In Age And Sadness. Since we shared the stage with In Age And Sadness several times in the past we knew Niels would be a good replacement. Niels gladly accepted our offer and we are currently rehearsing material with Niels.
"Next to the news about out change in the line-up we are working very hard on material for our new, 5th, full-length album. Right now we have plenty of ideas for 6 to 7 new songs and it’s coming along nicely. We hope to finish the album before the summer and have it released this fall. This will be our last album under the current contract with Displeased Records. At this moment we are also negotiating a couple of festival appearances later this year. More news about those performances is expected soon."
Powerwolf has issued the following update about parting ways with their drummer Stefane Funebre:
"Stefane Funebre will have to focus on his increasing religious duties in the future and will therefore no longer be able to join the wolves on their crusade. Funebre will however remain a part of the pack for life and will keep supporting us with his spiritual and mental guidance behind the scenes. As the new member of the wolfpack we welcome Tom Diener, who will take place on the holy drum seat in the future. Tom already toured with us as temporary replacement for Funebre during the last 12 months and in the meantime has become a true member of the pack and a master of the ceremony. Be sure he will unleash some great metal madness with us in the future."

Guitarist Phil Sgrosso of As I Lay Dying has checked in with the following update about their new album:
"Hey everyone, we've been pretty busy the past few months. We're about several last minute pickscrapes/thunderchugs away from finishing ALL tracking for The Powerless Rise. We've had Colin Richardson and his assistant Martyn 'Ginge' Ford out in San Diego working on mixes every day for about a month so far. It took a bit of time for us to get the guitar tone in the right place, but we've finally settled on something we all love and compliments the drums and bass quite nicely. Josh and Tim's vocals are sounding great as well. Colin and Ginge are doing a killer job!
"Besides stopping by the studio a couple days a week, we've all been preparing to start up the next tour cycle. We've got an Australian/New Zealand run in late March, the Revolver awards April 8th in LA, followed by a US headliner that'll be going on right around the time our new record comes out. It's been nice being home most of the past year but it's time to get back out there with some new songs and an entirely new stage setup to intensify the live show. I've been missing that adrenaline rush from playing to our fans and I assure you the new songs will bring our live energy to a new level. Keep an eye out, we'll be coming to you soon..."

Get ready for a much heavier, faster and more diverse sound this time around! We can't wait to show you what we've got cookin'!
"As one of the kick ass tracks on the album will be a cover of Dio's legendary tune 'We Rock.' We are also looking for graphic designers and artists for the new album's artwork. If you've got something you'd like to share with us, please send it our way! Stay tuned for more from Operatika!"
Power Quest has issued the following update about working on a new album:

"Recording will take place at Remaster Studio in Vicenza, Italy and will be produced by Nick Savio. This fantastic studio was where the majority of the Master of Illusion album was recorded. It's going to be great to be back in Italy and to be working with Nick again and I'm expecting to run into one or two very familiar faces during the recording process!
"Prior to this, the band will be demoing 3 new tracks for the record company at the end of March at Aubitt Studios in Southampton. The following songs are set for inclusion in the recordings: ‘Sacrifice’, ‘Time to Burn’ and ‘Rising Anew’."

Horror metallers Denial Fiend have issued a new statement about the band's follow up to their 2007 album "They Rise." According to guitarist Sam Williams the as-of-yet untitled album will feature eight gore-filled tracks. Onesong, entitled "Hell Asylum," will feature guest leads from Steve Swanson (Six Feet Under, ex-Massacre), Ralph Santolla (ex-Deicide) and James Murphy (ex-Death). The album is nearing completion with all of the guitars and drums tracked and the bass and vocals nearly done. Mixing is set to begin at the end of March.
Regarding the direction the band has taken since recruiting new members last year, Williams had this to say, "Whether it's the infusion of the new members and their particular backgrounds or just the way we were going already... the new album is faster, thrashier, heavier and tighter. Old school crossover hardcore/thrash meets death metal."
The band's 2010 recording line-up is as follows:
Bass - Terry Butler (Six Feet Under)
Guitars - Sam Williams (Down By Law)
Drums - Rob Rampy (D.R.I.)

Ventura, California death metallers Fatalist are recording a cover version of Death's "Beyond The Unholy Grave" for the soundtrack to the upcoming movie "After Party Massacre." The band commented on the recording:
"We finished tacking the drums tonight and now it's on to the guitars and bass. We tried recording the song using the three different tempos that are on the original recording, but it sounded weird when we did it. So after that didn't work, we decided to go with just the tempo of the intro and it seemed to flow a little better. It might be different than how Death played it, but that's why this is a cover. We are using a slightly different way of recording the guitars this time around as well. We will be using the Entombed method of using the HM-2 on the left and right channel, and a DS-1 in the center Channel. We used this setup on a demo of a new song and it turned out great."
Fatalist is currently seeking a new front man following the recent departures of guitarist/vocalist Wes Caley and drummer Tyler Castro. Commented guitarist/vocalist Neil Burkdoll: "We need someone who can handle the vocals from the debut album, 'The Depths of Inhumanity', and be able to add a new spin to the formula as well. The singer needs to be able to practice at least once a week and be able to perform live as well. Transportation and a good attitude are required."
Porcupine Tree has issued the following update about releasing a DVD of a live 2008 performance in Tilburg:
"Porcupine Tree's new live film is approaching completion and a special edition will be available in April, with a regular version to follow in May. Anesthetize was filmed live over 2 nights in Tilburg, The Netherlands in October 2008, at the end of the Fear of a Blank Planet tour. The 130 minute live film includes a complete performance of the Blank Planet album and 11 other tracks, and was directed and edited by Lasse Hoile on high definition cameras, with the soundtrack mixed into stereo and 5.1 sound.
"The special edition will take the form of a cloth bound hard back 120 page book (as per The Incident and Insurgentes deluxe versions) featuring live photography of the band taken over the last 5 years. The book will house both a DVD and a much higher quality Blu-Ray disc version of the film, as well as 2 audio CDs of the soundtrack including one bonus track not featured in the film. The book and audio CDs will not be included with the standard retail versions of the Blu-Ray/DVD. More news soon."

The previously announced Metallica concert at the Ramat Gan stadium in Israel has been met with an angered response from the country's metal fans, who feel that the ticket prices are ludicrously overpriced. Fans have expressed their outrage over social networking sites such as Facebook and many are refusing to buy tickets unless the price is dropped.
