Ann Arbor, Michigan hard rock band TAPROOT has posted a new song, entitled "You're Not Home Tonight", on the group's official blog. The track comes off the band's forthcoming album, "Our Long Road Home", due later in the year via an as-yet-undisclosed label.
TAPROOT's follow-up to 2005's "Blue-Sky Research" was reportedly produced by Tim Patalan and is the band's first album since parting with Atlantic Records in June 2006. They're also reportedly working on a DVD, but there's no word as to when that will see the light of day.
Bassist Phil Lipscomb previously stated about the new CD's title, "[it] is a unique and expressive tribute to our newly found collective freedom of creativity as a band, with no strings attached. It's a tribute to the casual and comfortable settings of being at home with friends and family — a place we love to be."

Battle Kommand Records will release GLORIA DIABOLI's "Gate to Sheol" on April 15th, 2008.
This band is the North American answer to true Satanic black metal acts such as WATAIN, OFERMOD, FUNERAL MIST, etc. The band performs a martial, orthodox form of black metal, fueled by ferocity and hellfire. Aggressive, ugly and well-recorded, this attack will yet again prove that Canada's ever-extreme Vancouver, BC-area black metal scene has spawned some of the ugliest metal of our time, and alongside countrymen BLASPHEMY, AXIS OF ADVANCE, WITCHES HAMMER, ALLFATHER, CONQUEROR, and REVENGE, Gloria Diaboli are now leaving their mark on this important regions history of violent and chaotic metal.
"Gate To Sheol" was mastered at Necromorbus Studio in Sweden (Watain, MALIGN, AVERSE SEFIRA, Ofermod, etc).
"Gate To Sheol" tracklisting:
1. The Kingdom of Filth And Decay
2. Above As It Is Below
3. Gloria Diaboli
4. Gate To Sheol
5. Liberation Unto He who Dwelleth in the Depths
6. Omega Throne
7. Oh, Great Deceiver
According to a BW&BK source, Aussie hard rock legends AC/DC landed in Vancouver, BC last night (March 1st) to commence work on their anxiously-awaited new album. The band's last album, 2000's Stiff Upper Lip, was recorded at The Warehouse Studio in Vancouver, BC with George Young (Angus and Malcolm Young's older brother) and engineered/mixed by Mike Fraser (METALLICA, AEROSMITH, VAN HALEN) - perhaps the team set to work on the band's new material?
SYSTEM OF A DOWN frontman Serj Tankian's video for the song "Money" can be viewed at this location.
Tankian recently added more headlining U.S. dates to his current tour schedule, which finds the vocalist alternating between his own shows and an opening stint for FOO FIGHTERS. Tankian's newest confirmed gigs will take him out west and into Canada during a two-week period in mid-March, before he heads overseas for a European trek that begins on April 1. FAIR TO MIDLAND will open for Tankian on the March dates. Tankian's run with FOO FIGHTERS started on February 18 in Worcester, Massachusetts and ends on March 6 in Los Angeles.
Serj Tankian recently issued "Sky is Over" as the second single from his debut solo album, "Elect the Dead". Although Tankian doesn't say straight out what the song is about, he did tell The Pulse of Radio that it comes from both his childhood memories and his concerns about the planet. "I've always thought of the sky as, like, an open canvas," he said. "When I was a kid and I looked at the sky, I always remember being able to daydream, just looking at the sky, being creative, being able to design things. What would happen if we had no sky? Where would we be? Well, obviously, scientifically, without an atmosphere, we'd all be dead."
"Elect the Dead" made the "long list" of finalists for this year's Shortlist Prize, which is awarded to an album that has sold less than 500,000 copies. The winner will be announced in the spring.
"Elect the Dead" came out in late October and landed at Number Four on the Billboard album chart.
Canadian metal legends ANVIL - who are still reeling from their journey to the Sundance Film Festival where they celebrated the release of the documentary, Anvil! The True Story Of Anvil - have confirmed a new live show in Ottawa, Ontario at Mavericks on April 4th.
EPICA lead singer Simone Simons - who is infected with MRSA (also known as the hospital bacteria) - has issued the following update:
"I want to express my gratitude to the Epica fans who have been supporting me through this difficult period. I have received numerous emails and presents. They really give me strength! It means the world to me that you care about me.
Unfortunately I am still not healed from the infection yet. I am trying my best to get rid of it but it is a real pain in the ass. I have parted ways with antibiotics and am focussing on natural medicines. The antibiotics are the reason for my disease and I have had enough of it. Most important is still to rest a lot and to crank up my immune system.
Epica and me are very sad that the Mexican tour had to be cancelled again. We really want to come over but like many of you said it is better for me to go back on tour when I am totally healed.
Overall I am positive that I will overcome this and can't wait to get back on tour. I miss singing on stage and of course your energy.
Please be patient and I hope to see you all soon!"
As previously reported, WHITESNAKE are releasing their anxiously-anticipated new album, Good To Be Bad, through SPV / Steamhammer in Germany on April 18th, the rest of Europe on April 21st and North America on April 22nd. It will be available as a regular jewel case version and a bonus CD version featuring an extra disc in a cardboard sleeve, poster, photocard and sticker.
The entire album is streaming at this location.
The tracklist of Good To Be Bad is as follows:
Disc 1: 'Best Years', 'Can You Hear The Wind Blow', 'Call On Me', 'All I Want All I Need', 'Good To Be Bad', 'All For Love', 'Summer Rain', 'Lay Down Your Love', 'A Fool In Love', 'Got What You Need', '`Til The End Of Time'.
Bonus CD: 'Summer Rain' (acoustic version), 'All I Want All I Need' (radio edit), 'Take Me With You' (live version), 'Ready To Rock' (enhanced video).
Legendary frontman, David Coverdale comments on the album: “The new album contains all the elements I enjoy about Whitesnake, and more. I can hear moments that take me back to the bluesy, early years of the band all the way through the band's musical history to fully embrace the more electric aspects of where we are now, as a band. I'm thrilled with it and can hardly wait to unleash it on an unsuspecting public! If this is indeed the last Whitesnake studio record then I'm happy to finish like this. It was a labour of love making this record...a joy... and I'm still enjoying listening to it. Can't be bad!"
The 11 new songs, written by Coverdale and guitarist Doug Aldrich (who also co-produced the album with Coverdale and Michael McIntyre) provide a good balance of eight rocking tracks and three ballads. Coverdale feels it's the first 'real' Whitesnake album in almost 20 years, commenting “It's very butch. Very muscular..."
Springfield, Virginia thrashers, Apothys, issue the following studio update on their Myspace page:
"After waiting around for two weekends in the studio and being sick as hell with mild bronchitis, I really did not battle with boredom watching the guys nail out their tracks. I realized a few musical pieces I had not heard before. On the 24th of February, I finally got to start my vocals around 9:30pm. I was hoping I was ready for vocals and not be interrupted by phlegm fill fun. As if metal was my cure, I didn't have any problems with my vocal - matter of fact, it seems my vocals had progressed right there in the booth. I finished all my main vocals for all 3 tracks of the promo. This Sunday I have to fine tune some parts and add backing vocals. I really can't wait to show everyone Onslaught. We have been waiting for so long."

Regain Records has confirmed an April 28th release date for Stockholm-based MACHINERY's new album, The Passing. The album was recorded in June 2007 at Black Lounge Studio together with Jonas Kjellgren (SCAR SYMMETRY). According to a press release, "the new album can be described as an intense journey in epic and diverse metal. An album with great songs and an unique style that covers heavy, death, black and thrash! A perfect blend of what should truly appeal to every metalhead!"
According to Sean Hamilton from the Sundaymirror.co.uk,
Robert Plant has turned down an extra £100million fortune to take LED ZEPPELIN on a world tour. The rock legend wants to concentrate on his new partnership with US country singer ALISON KRAUSS... spelling the likely end of the famous band.
Led Zep fans had been longing for a tour announcement since last year - when the 1970s superstars reformed for a one-off show at London's O2 Arena.
Surviving members Plant, Robert Page and John Paul Jones were offered a guaranteed £100m each for a tour of North America and Europe after a million fans applied for O2 tickets.
But after extensive talks Led Zep - best known for the song 'Stairway To Heaven'- decided against the moneymaking opportunity.
Guitarist Jimmy Page, 64, was keen to do the tour this year and was backed by bass player John Paul, 62.
But singer Plant, 59 - already worth an estimated £70million - wants to concentrate on his new success with US country singer Krauss. The pair's duet album Raising Sand went to No 2 in America and Britain and they are starting their own tour in April.
A band source said: "Despite the enormous offer, the decision did not come down to money. They always said they would do the one-off show and then see how they felt."

Although they had hoped to take part in their scheduled tour with Comeback Kid and Crime In Stereo, Daggermouth has now officially dropped off the tour. The band explains:
"This week has been a rough one on everyone involved with Daggermouth to say the very least. Unfortunately, we have had to cancel the rest of our upcoming tour dates. Between Nick taking some time off and a whole slew of personal and financial reasons that we have to take care of, we have no other choice. Thanks to everyone for continued love and support. We will see all of you again soon once Nick has fully recovered. Please go out and show support to Crime In Stereo and Comeback Kid, those shows will rule!"

The picture is an original drawing in the style of reneissance woodcut illustrations, and portrays the members of KIUAS as the four — or in this case five — horsemen of the Apocalypse with a dismal landscape that combines ancient and modern times."
A video for the song 'Conqueror' was shot on February 18 with Owe Lingvall of Village Road Film.
KIUAS' second full-length album, "Reformation", was released in May 2006.

March 3 sees the anticipated vinyl release of "Ill Innocence", the latest album by Japan's queens of blackened punk, GALLHAMMER. The LP will come as a double-vinyl gatefold release to a strictly limited edition. Order now from www.peaceville.com, or alternatively the LPs will be available from the band IF you are planning to come to their gigs in the UK and Norway.
Although GALLHAMMER had been known primarily as a black metal/punk act, the album is impressively diverse, showing their implementation of many influences and moods from both metal and non-metal genres. The themes are based around isolation, oppression, a world without colour, with Vivian describing the imagery like "Delirium - as being in a midday nightmare under the scorching sunshine"; all wrapped in a poetic disparity. "Ill Innocence" also features recordings of the tracks "Speed of Blood" and "At the Onset of the Age of Despair" as previewed in demo form on "The Dawn of…" The CD release of the album was met with great critical acclaim, particularly in the UK, with the band even given the honour of coverstars in Zero Tolerance, Terrorizer and Organ magazines.
GALLHAMMER will embark on a tour of the UK in March to coincide with the LP release, ending with a trip to Norway to appear at the prestigious Inferno festival, where the band headlines the Garage stage.

The DVD includes additional footage from the tour, plus promo videos, gallery, and an intriguing video interview with the band. The audio mix and production has been executed by Justin Broadrick (NAPALM DEATH, GODFLESH, JESU).

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that an insider from Albert Music, AC/DC's long-time Australian record company, has revealed there is plenty of excitement building about a possible new album from the band.
"We're very hopeful," he said, "but at this stage there's nothing official."
AC/DC's New York management is yet to confirm rumors that the band will soon begin recording another album in the U.S. "They work on their own time frame," said the Sydney source.
"When they make a record, it's because they want to."
The band itself is now international, with members scattered across the globe. Malcolm and Angus Young divide their time between Britain and Australia (with Angus also spending time in the Netherlands because he has a Dutch wife). Singer Brian Johnson and Cliff Williams are based in the U.S., while drummer Phil Rudd lives in New Zealand.
"They can all get together pretty quickly though," the source said.
Williams told Spinner.com last month that AC/DC will enter the studio March 1 to begin recording its first new album in eight years. The web site caught up with Williams at the Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp in Los Angeles, where he said, "God I'm ready."
As for touring, however, Williams was less sure about the group's intentions. He explained, "If we go out again or when we go out again, you just never know. We've been around a long time, so we're going to get together and get in the studio and I fully expect we will (tour). I don't mean to be so negative about that."
AC/DC recently re-opened its official web site for business, although the site dismissed rumors that the band was playing some secret European shows this winter.
Reports surfaced earlier in January that AC/DC was nearly finished recording its next album, but a spokesperson for the band's Australian label, Albert Records, denied the story.
AC/DC's last all-new set, "Stiff Upper Lip", came out in 2000.
