The Dutch melodic metal band EDGE OF ANGER has confirmed today that they will continue under the name EDGE OF SERENITY.
Frontman Wietze Halma had this to say about this decision: "We experienced lately more and more problems, as more bands used the name Edge Of Anger, and this resulted in all kind of confusions. As a band, we felt that this was a good moment to do something about this, as we are just joined by 2 new band members ( Jaco Dekker and Noud Smeets ) and about to release our debut-album this Spring via our new label Romulus X Records. So, it was 'now, or never.' We are proud of our new name EDGE OF SERENITY and cannot wait to reveal more details about our upcoming debut album 'The Chaos Theory' and start touring !"
Metal Blade Records has announced that they have signed up Boston based group Ravage to their label. Speaking about the signing, vocalist Al Ravage said:
"Everyone in the band is thrilled to have the opportunity to have our music released by a record company that is not only one of the greatest heavy metal record labels ever, but also a label that is currently home to many of our favorite bands (such as Lizzy Borden, Cannibal Corpse, King Diamond etc). Metal Blade has released some of the classic metal albums of all time and Ravage welcomes the opportunity to make our own mark on the scene. Only Brian and Metal Blade had the guts to put this deal together with a band that has never bowed to trends or used gimmickry to fit in, a band that has always forged ahead toward fresh musical ground in the face of those who wanted us to become some sort of goofy retro-act or clone of whatever was hip. So on behalf of the band, I’d like to thank all the fans in the local scene, national scene and abroad who have stuck by us thus far, the promoters who’ve dared book us, the small labels who dared release our early work, those in the press who dared stand up to the feeble-minded trendmakers, the [few] DJ’s who’ve played us, and all the great bands we’ve played with. This is just another step on a long road as we continue our mission to put out some quality, no-bullshit, heavy metal music that real metalheads can be proud of. Keep headbangin’ with us and RAVAGE IN PEACE!!!"
Mircea Gabriel Eftemie, guitarist of Danish metal group Mnemic has checked in with an update regarding the band and its forthcoming new album It reads as follows:
"It’s been too damn long since the last update, which I must apologize for. First of all, a really late Happy New Year from the lads in Mnemic to all of you reading this. It’s about time we rise from the dormancy and break the silence to give you all an update from the Mnemic camp!
"Since we took a break from touring in 2008 - and apart from playing a few shows with Metallica (yes, I still mention this ’cause I’m damn proud of it!) - things have been quite productive. We have definitely not been lazy, that’s for sure. As we recharged our batteries in this break, we also felt the hunger for creativity and started writing new material. Already I can confirm that we have 11 brand new songs written and we are still a long way from finishing. The plan is, of course, to write as many songs as possible until we are 110% satisfied with all the material. For now, the title of the new album is set as Sons Of The System. More...

Swedish death metallers The Project Hate have issued the following update about their upcoming album:
"Yet another step closer to finishing up this album…
"Just came home from Swanö where we made the last corrections. Now there’s but a few small things left for him to fix before I get the second and supposed to be final mix so I can check everything so closely it’ll drive me insane. This will take but a few days. We came up with some fantastic shit today as well, stuff I have been thinking about for a while and now it fell into place.
"Now we are real close to wrapping this bastard up…"
Arsis guitarist Jim Malone has checked with a message for their fans regarding why the band has had to drop off their scheduled tours with Carcass and The Faceless. His message reads as follows:
"I owe more than a few people an apology at this time.
"Over the past few months Arsis has had to drop off two tours and the fault lies on my shoulders. Those who know me know that moderation is a concept that I am not familiar with. Ever since my late teens, I have moved from one self-destructive behavior to another and it has finally taken its toll on my body and mind. I seem to take everything I do to an unhealthy extreme. This leads us to the reason for dropping off tours with both The Faceless and Carcass.
"Without going into too many details, let’s just say that there is no healthy way to lose 100 pounds in 4 months, as I did late last year. To say that I have been dealing with some issues would be an understatement. These issues have not only affected the basic functions of my body, but also my mood and ability to make rational decisions. Fortunately, I have many supportive people in my life and I have been taking strides to get things back under control. I have been making my best effort as of late and I feel stronger everyday. I think I will come out this a wiser person and be able to run my life better than ever.
"Look for Arsis to be back on the road soon with a possible headliner to make up for lost time. My apologies to our booking agent, our record label, our fans, and anyone who has been effected by my poor decisions."

Tom Fischer, founder of the legendary metal bands Celtic Frost and Hellhammer, has checked in with an update on his forthcoming new band, Triptykon. His message reads as follows:
"Of course my own opinion is biased, and of course I am not really entitled to rate the results of our own work. But it is difficult not to emerge from our sessions at Triptykon's rehearsal bunker deeply intoxicated by the heaviness of the dark, overwhelming, and morbid miasma that is the riffs of 'The Prolonging'. Although the path towards completion is still significant, be it for this new song, its title and lyrics, or the album proper it will appear on, it all transpires as it should. It is as it has to be."
German thrash metal legends Destruction are currently touring North America along with Krisiun and Mantic Ritual. The band has unfortunately had to announce however, that their show in Calgary, Alberta, Canada will not go ahead as planned. A message from the band reads as follows:
"The Calgary show is cancelled due the lack of equipment. First of all the show got moved from the Warehouse to the Underground! No agreement with the band, no PA, no lights! The band is disappointed and really sorry about that situation, as everybody tried to find a solution to make the show happen. Sorry folks but without equipment a metal concert is not possible."
Frank Hannon, guitarist of the hard rock band Tesla, has revealed that he recently suffered an arm injury in Los Angeles. A message from Hannon reads as follows:
"Hey everyone, thanks for the 'feel better' vibes!! Actually, I did fall down in Atlanta and fractured the radial bone in my elbow. Luckily I have been able to do play guitar and do the Tesla shows with some pain. But the reason I was going to reschedule the Los Angeles FHB show was because the doctor told me not to lift any equipment and put extra pressure on my arm for 6-8 weeks.
"Well, there's a good possibility that the Whisky A Go Go may provide FHB with backline of Marshall amps and drums so I won't have to lift and haul my gear, and be able to play the show!! So please stay tuned there is a chance we will play that show Thursday, March 26th in Hollywood."

EX DEO’s Maurizio Iacono checks in with the following update:
"I’m now back home after quite a long journey to Canada (to record the rest of my vocals for EX DEO) and Belgium with Kataklysm for some good beers and a good time (headlining the Maximum Metal & Hardcore Festival). It was killer! Meeting up with old friends is always fun times.
"From there I flew to Belgrade, Serbia where I filmed the video for the title track 'Romulus.' The set up was extremely pro. Stanimir 'Staca' Lukic and Ivan did such an amazing job and paid attention to every single detail. To recreate Rome and the story of Romulus and Remus was a big challenge, but I think we nailed it and the ideas behind it are incredible. Expect an epic feel, like the movie '300' for the texture... A big thank you to all the film crew and the actors!
"I’m also glad to say the album is complete! J-f, Steph , Max, Francois and Jo did a fantastic job. I can’t thank you enough for the dedication for a project so close to my heart (it’s a part of us all now!). The sound is in your face, huge and with so much feeling it will grab you instantly.
"This is some of the best material we have ever written as a band and a completely different outlook and feel then what we have done before. Expect anthem after anthem!"

AVA INFERI's third album "Blood of Bacchus", is set for a May 25th release on Season Of Mist Records.
Freshly back home after a one month European tour with Tiamat and The 69 Eyes, AVA INFERI recently issued the following statement:
"The Hellhounds... Veni, vidi, vici!
"Finally back, or perhaps I should state the opposite? Although I definitely don't miss my bunker in the bus, I must say that we had a good blast over the three weeks this tour was running...a good and healthy experience indeed. I would like to thank all the parts involved, including Tiamat and the Helsinki Vampires (aka The 69 Eyes), the magnificent Hellhounds crew, all agents and organizers and obviously ALL the fans who gave us such great reception on our 1st (out of many!) tour. You all rule!
"From our lengthy (approx 47 min) start in Hamburg and Germany (eight shows or so in good old Germany!), throughout Poland (you guys were fantastic!!), Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Switzerland (Lausanne in our hearts), Austria, France and the UK, we had a respectable success, meeting and greeting with new (and old) fans and getting contacts and friends for life. Bless you all! We will be back!
"Things getting slowly back to normal here though, and thankfully it is a beautiful weather here these days so rest comes easy. This means all should be set for what seems to be an interesting and hardworking spring time for us. "Blood of Bacchus" is around the corner, and considering the feedbacks we got all over Europe on our pre-listening sessions, we are in for a bigger bang this time. It's a new dawn in the name of Gothic Doom done Ava-style.
"So when will the album be released then you ask? The date has been set for the 25th of May and we will celebrate hard on the 30th, while playing the mighty Wave Gothic Treffen in Leipzig, Germany. Join us all there for some wine and some good time.
"Well, I got things to do now, so I'm heading off into the sun for some refreshments and... oh yeah, a photoshoot. Continuing would only lead to ranting anyways ;)"
