Ex-TTEOTD Singer Joins By The Sins Fell Angels

Former Through The Eyes Of The Dead singer Anthony Gunnells has apparently joined Georgia metal band By The Sins Fell Angels. Formed in 2003, the group will soon begin recording new material. In the interim, you can check them out here.

Gunnells recently left Through The Eyes Of The Dead under bizarre circumstances while the band was in the studio with producer Erik Rutan (Hate Eternal, ex-Morbid Angel) recording 'Malice,' the follow-up to the band's full-length debut on Prosthetic Records. No reasons for his departure were mentioned.

Through The Eyes Of The Dead is currently seeking a professional, dedicated vocalist willing to tour the world and able to relocate immediately.

Desaster Finish Writing For New Album

DESASTER have finished the songwriting process for their upcoming, sixth studio album “666 - Satans Soldiers Syndicate”. This time around the German black/thrashers will be heading over to Holland to record at Harrow’s Studios in Losser. “Bands like the legendary death metal gods ASPHYX and other fine bands like SOULBURN, OCCULT, MELECHESH and FLESH MADE SIN have recorded their albums in this studio. Quite a good selection of bands we’d say”, comments the band. The album will be mixed in June and DESASTER are looking into an August/September release.

“The new songs are a strict continuation of the last few albums, which means NO COMPROMISE! If you are expecting innovative, ambitious music you are 666 % wrong. DESASTER stands for traditional riff metal – thrashy, black and full of blasphemy!”

Song titles include a. o. 'Fade Forever Flesh', 'Razor Ritual', 'Hellbangers' and 'Tyrannizer'.

Thyrfing Lose Singer and Guitarist

Sweden's THYRFING have issued the following update:

"After a decade in the band, both (singer) Thomas Väänänen and (guitarist) Henrik Svegsjö have decided to leave Thyrfing. They have informed us that they lack the motivation needed for another album.

We have split ways on good terms, and would like to thank them for all these great years.

With this being said, we hereby welcome Jens Rydén to the band as new vocalist. Jens is best known as founding member and ex-vocalist of NAGLFAR and recently also for his one-man army PROFUNDI.

We all feel very enthusiastic about bringing new blood into the band and it will be very interesting to write and compile the next Thyrfing album together.

For the time being we will go on with one guitar player, and time will tell what happens to the second guitar position…"

Vader Enter Studio For 25th Anniversary Album

VADER entered Hertz Studio in Poland on March 15 to re-record 25 of the best songs from their entire discography for a 25th anniversary release, to be issued in 2008. The set will also include a DVD containing tons of bonus features, such as archival recordings, live shows, video clips and other special material.

Commented frontman Piotr "Peter" Wiwczarek: "Me and Daray [drums] arrived to the Hertz Studio on 15th March to start recordings of an album, which is very special indeed. This is gonna be 25 songs taken from VADER's early records. We [are focusing] mostly on 'The Ultimate Incantation', 'De Profundis', 'Black to the Blind' [and] 'Litany' [albums], [and] also [the] mini albums released in between.

"2008 [marks 25 years since] VADER took its name and started to exist as a band...

"With such unusual material we'd like to enjoy the anniversary and close up the early days of VADER to the newest generation of our die-hard fans. For the first time, the songs from such differently produced records will be available on one album. All the songs we will [record] from scratch, so they'll sound more fresh [but will] more or less [be] re-arranged. Of course, we're gonna put some never-before-released very old stuff but... this is 'top secret' at the moment. Interesting might be also guests from world's metal scene, who will appear on the album on various songs. They are our friends and brothers-in-arms, who already made a lot for metal. What can I add is that we plan to do special edition of the album, including video shots from very early days or photo album with never released old picturies specially chosen for this anniversary release.

"Lotsa work, lotsa memories... but first of all — a lot of total massacre from over two decades of creation of unholy metal madness!!!!"

VADER's "Impressions in Blood" album entered the Polish national chart at position No. 8. The band's video for the song "Helleluyah (God Is Dead)" has been posted online at YouTube.com. The clip was shot with director Andrzej Wyrozebski, who is said to be one of the leading movie producers in Poland. Janusz Król (known from the Polish fantasy movie "Wiedzmin") was responsible for all special effects and the whole set design. Slawomir Panasewicz (who has worked on over 140 video clips!) was a cameraman.

"Impressions in Blood" was recorded at Hertz Studio in Bialystok, Poland and features artwork by Greek artist Seth (ROTTING CHRIST, PARADISE LOST).

Perth, Australia's Soundwave Festival Report

The SoundWave Festival rolled across Australia this southern hemisphere summer with dates in Brisbane, Sydney and Perth. While billed as an "all day rock and mayhem experience", headliners Deftones and +44 (a band made up of former members of Blink 182) meant the festival was always going to attract a diverse audience. The inclusion of Suicidal Tendencies, Hatebreed, The Bronx and Terror in the lineup ensured a healthy metal contingent was in attendance.

The official web site stated that the capacity of each venue was around 10,000. If this was the case, the Claremont Showgrounds, where the Perth show was held, was not filled to capacity. This meant that the crowd around each of the three stages (one indoor, two outdoor) was quite small - more so considering the licensed areas were fenced off some distance from each stage. The thin crowds meant members of some of the bands playing early sets could be seen wandering around throughout the day, chatting to fans and checking out the other performances. More...

Royal Hunt Vocalist Leaves Band

ROYAL HUNT has issued the following statement:

"Royal Hunt and [vocalist] John West have decided that at this time (after numerous albums and concert tours) they are no longer able to contribute creatively to each other’s future musical development. It’s been a hell of a ride, but both parties feel like it is about time to move on and explore different musical paths - therefore, they mutually agreed to part ways as of March 16th, 2007 .

“We’re not ruling out possible future collaborations for a joint venture or a side project” – André [Andersen, keyboardist] and John state - “but it won’t be under the RH moniker.”

John had joined Royal Hunt in 1999 during the recording of the Fear album and he worked with the band until our latest release, the live CD/DVD Royal Hunt 2006. We’d like to express our gratitude to John for a great eight year run and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors."
