The initial tour dates for Crue Fest 2 have just been announced. Produced by Live Nation, the tour kicks off on July 19, 2009 in Camden, NJ tours across North America and concludes on September 5th in Darien Lake, NY. Select dates go on sale to the public on March 20th, the remainder go on sale the 21st -- check www.CrueFest2.com and www.Motley.com for exact on-sale information and for tickets.
As previously reported, The follow-up to last summer's festival will feature Motley Crue with Godsmack, Theory of a Deadman, Drowning Pool and Charm City Devils.

On May 4th, French metalcore band THE ARRS will release their third album, entitled "Héros Assassin" on Season of Mist Records. On this new effort, THE ARRS decided to set their imagination free, creating an album without boundaries and standing at the crossroad of genres. "Héros Assassin" ["murderous hero" in French] evokes the dark side of power, its morbid fascination and its lethal impact hiding behind pomp and glory. A pure reflection of the times, this violent, somber, intense and chaotic album expresses the reproaches made to contemporary gods.
Process Records (home of Arsonists Get All The Girls, Moria and The Ninth Gate) has announced the signing of Santa Cruz, California's Heroshima. The band will be releasing their debut LP "Through Hell and High Water" on May 26th. The label will also be digitally releasing the band's hard to find 2006 EP "Tomahawks And Bear Traps Make A Mean Stew" on the same day.

Virginia death metallers, Birds of Prey, have posted a new song, "Momma," from their upcoming album, "The Hellpreacher," on their MySpace page. The Syracuse, NY quintet, UNHOLY, has posted a new track, "Seeker Immortal," on their MySpace page. The song comes off the upcoming album "New Life Behind Closed Eyes" was recorded at More Sound Studios [Ed Gein] in Syracuse and will be released on May 12th through Prosthetic Records. More...
As I approached the outer area of the arena I heard The Last Vegas playing inside and had a choice. It was early, so it was either get a beer, or catch the end of the show. The band sounded nice and loud. The beer tasted great. Maybe next time Vegas.
Theory of a Deadman followed with a short set. Being unfamiliar with this band I found myself comparing each song to other songs. One sounded like Alice in Chains, the next Nickelback, etc. Overall Theory of a Deadman sounded good, and would like to see them in a smaller venue. More...
Dutch death metallers, Rotten, have posted two new songs on their MySpace page. The songs, "Choked on Vomit" and "HeadChopper," come off their upcoming album due out this spring.
Welsh ragga metal group Skindred has revealed that they will be recording a brand new EP this year entitled, "Jumping The Shark." The band claim that they are treating the recording like a "mini album" and expect to release the record between late summer and early autumn. Stay tuned for more details.
Maryland progressive metal band, Periphery, has issued the following message welcoming their new drummer, Matt Halpern:
"We have found our drummer for good and now our lineup is now compreet! His name is Matt Halpern (formerly of the amazing Animals As Leaders) and yes he was the drummer who was filling in for us recently. When we jammed with him, everything meshed and felt just right like fleshjustice in a meatwrut, in a way that had never been felt befoooooh. He really took things to the next level for us both drumming wise and getting to know our bodieswise. And so we asked him if he would be interested in joining. When he said no, we beat him up until he said yes. Now we have a full time drummer, and Matt's mouth doesnt need to taste like alex's farts anymore!"
Periphery will be releasing their debut album this summer.
Polish death metal band Vader are currently streaming the new song "Impure" on their official MySpace page. The band has issued the following statement about the track:
"Vadermaniacs!!! As You were promissed-here is our next track recorded as pre-product In December 2008 in Hertz Studios. This time VADER not as "typical" as on "Rise Of The Undead"... Yet in this week we enter the studio to start recording the tracks for the upcoming "Necopolis". As I mentioned before-we will inform You about the progress in the studio. Swedish metallers Morifade have issued the following update about their upcoming album:
"The new Morifade album is entitled EMPIRE OF SOULS and will be a 10 track album. The album is now complete with cover and layout and will be presented to various labels, our hope is that the album will be released during 2009.
"We'll be back with cover design and also some audio clips from the album!"
Norwegian folk metal band Glittertind has announced that their new album will titled "Landkjenning" or "Landsighting" in English. The album will be released on 5/27 in Finland and Spain, 5/29 in Italy and Sweden, 6/1 in the rest of Europe, and 6/2 in North America. The band issued the following statement about the album:
"Landkjenning represents a musically mature expression loaded with blasting folk metal tunes all together presented in an authentic, dynamic production well supported by guest musicians' performance on old, traditional instruments. The thoroughly prepared lyrical concepts dealing with the christianization of Norway, takes the listener thousand years back in time where the choice of accepting the new faith or uncompromisingly fight against it was a reality!"

Shadows Fall have announced the formation of their own label in conjunction with Warner Music Group's Independent Label Group and Ferret Music. The band will release their sixth studio album this Fall. More details are coming soon.
Lead singer Brian Fair has this to say about his band's new venture:
"All of us in Shadows Fall could not be more excited about our new working relationship with ILG and Ferret Records. We have always been a band that tried to maintain as much control over our career as possible and this new deal gives us just that. British thrashers Seventh Angel have announced that they will be entering The Priory in Birmingham with Greg Chandler of Esoteric this Thursday, March 19th to record there as-yet-untitled forthcoming album. The album is set to be released sometime in April through Bombworks records and the cover art will be created by Matt Vickerstaff of Darkwave Art.
Texas based death metal band Decrepitaph are currently streaming another track online. The song "The Undead Shrines" can now be heard on their official MySpace page.
Mnemosyne Productions has issued the following update about Ihsahn's recent live show supporting Opeth in Oslo:
"We would like to share with you all some photos taken at Ihsahn’s debut show, as support act for Opeth, Rockefeller Oslo 10th of March. The show was sold out weeks in advance.
“I felt well prepared for the show, and luckily all technical aspects worked out to our advantage, so that the overall experience for me and my band was extremely positive. The feedback from the audience was amazing, and many thought that the songs gained an extra dimension by being performed in a live setting. We are all now looking forward to play Oslo Live, in front of Akershus Festning, 3rd of July”, Ihsahn says.

Swedish mettalers Inmoria have announced that their debut album "Invisible Wounds" has been mixed and mastered. The album will be released through Massacre records, although no official release date has yet been confirmed by the band.

New York based extreme metal band Burning Human, which features Shadows Fall drummer Jason Bittner, has completed work on its debut album "Resurrection Through Fire." The record will be released on April 21, 2009 via E1 Music (formerly KOCH Records). The band issued the following statement about the album:
"Resurrection Through Fire administers ten frighteningly intense tracks of underground death metal that inflict lethal doses of crushing brutality, relentless speed and blast-furnace vocal power with a surgical precision. The album was tracked at The Recording Company in New York with Tim Lynch and Rick Sullivan and was produced and mixed by famed metal guitarist James Murphy (Obituary, Death, Testament, Disincarnate) -- who also contributed a number of blistering guest guitar solos to the record -- at Florida’s SafeHouse Productions Studios. Resurrection through Fire’s artwork was designed by renowned metal artist Bjoern Goosses (Amon Amarth, Job for a Cowboy, Leng Tch'e, Zyklon)."

Welkin Entertainment reports that Empyrean and Aeon of Horus will be supporting Norwegian band Satyricon on their Australian tour this week. Empyrean will be playing this Friday, March 20 @ The Arena in Brisbane and Aeon of Horus will be joining the tour on Sunday, March 22 @ Billboards the Venue in Melbourne.
Rookwood has also been announced as the Sydney support act on Saturday, March 21 @ The Manning Bar. Perth support is still to be announced. Tickets are available from Ticketek.
The album cover artwork and tracklisting for the second full-length album from Dutch metal band CONSPIRACY's head-honcho Alex "Carpathian Wolf" (previously known as Al' Hazred of Melechesh fame) entitled "Concordat," has been revealed.

"Concordat" will be packaged in Super Jewel Box CD format and also strictly limited to 1000 copies worldwide.

Twelve more bands have been announced for this year's edition of Britain's Download Festival. New Orleans supergroup Down will be making their second appearance at the festival and they will be joined by Italian gothic metal group Lacuna Coil, legendary rockers Journey and former Soundgarden/Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell. Also added to the bill are Tesla, Papa Roach, Clutch, Black Stone Cherry, Architects, Skin, Parkway Drive and Karma To Burn.

British heavy metal masters Judas Priest will be heading out across North America once again this year for a headlining tour in support of their latest album, "Nostradamus." American heavy metal group Mastodon has posted their forthcoming new studio album, "Crack The Skye" online in full at their official Myspace page. You can check it out by clicking here. The band recently announced that they will be performing the entire album on their upcoming tour.
