The eclectic metal peddlers at Domestic Genocide are pleased to reveal "Ruines," the debut from one-man post-rock/post-black metal/shoegaze project, thehappymask. The album is due out March 19th, 2013. Domestic Genocide also comments:
"Hailing from Russia, thehappymask is dark, mysterious and shrouded in monochromatic secrecy. The gentleman behind the willful anonymity and stylistic runaround can be unearthed on at least one domestic social network, but even there he hides behind the moniker of 'Constantine Horizon.' Self-portraits, visual or textual, do little to increase our database of objective information. Silhouettes and saturated colors hide various faces. Obscurity offers broad appeal, in several senses.
"The only other thing these shoegazing instrumentals offer in terms of specificity is a small poem, accredited to an anonymous author and written to an unnamed female addressee. Constantine has uploaded it to one of his networking pages. Turned into English prose, it asks a reader to save 'magical beauty' from the 'illusion of those who say you’re eternal or that happiness lasts forever.' The same text also warns its addressee that perfection is an unobtainable state."
Translated from Russian, Constantine Horizon comments: “Basically speaking, this is my own, modest musical project. It came into being very spontaneously at the start of last summer, in a town that doesn’t exist. This is music written under the influence of my private emotions and aspirations, but it’s full of hope that the material will improve.”
The track listing is as follows:
1. Heavy Rain
3. Fading Beauty
4. Dead Flowers
5. Old Broken Bridge
6. Towards The Setting Sun
7. As Dusk Falls (Bonus Demo)

Los Angeles-based desert rock trio Totimoshi has revamped its lineup and will break in the new blood this week at a special hometown show.
Following latest LP, "Avenger" -- released in 2011 via At A Loss Recordings -- Totimoshi has been on somewhat of a live hiatus for the past year or so due to the partial departure of drummer Chris Fugitt. While Chris remains in the band’s official lineup, he now lives halfway across the country, so the band’s founding members -- bassist Meg Castellanos and vocalist/guitarist Tony Aguilar -- have recruited additional drummer Derrick Hostetter in the interim.
Having played and toured in Illinois punk bands in the 90’s, and having formed and played in various electronic bands in the Peoria area, Hostetter relocated to the West Coast, recording three albums with San Francisco-based band Cast Of Thousands, two records with The Bruises and Seeking Empire, as well as LA-based hardcore act Bough Breaks.
Totimoshi will perform live with Derrick for the first time this Thursday, March 14th at a hometown headlining show at the Silverlake Lounge, with support from Gaytheist, Stripper Pussy, and Dolphins n Shit.

Rock legend George Lynch and Emmy-nominated documentary filmmaker Mark McLaughlin have been working on a great documentary that is nearing completion. But they need your help, via their indiegogo page. "Shadowtrain: Under a Crooked Sky" will illuminate the cost of the destruction of the Native American community; to both the indigenous population as well as to their European conquerors.
The documentary will reveal the qualities inherent in indigenous people’s world views that should be recognized and adopted if we all, collectively, intend to not only survive, but to find a way to live happier, more meaningful lives. While engaging a wide variety of opinions from notable activists, authors, artists, elders and shaman, politicians and government officials, clergy, teachers and everyday people, the film will reveal its message through a powerful music-driven road trip.
The journey begins as renowned guitarist George Lynch (Dokken, Lynch Mob), drummer, artist and activist Vinnie Nicastro and a musical band of politically engaged musicians climb into an old station wagon in the southwest desert. They pull a vintage horse trailer, retro-fitted to carry band equipment, solar panels, generators and camping gear.
They travel the back roads, searching for a truth that can speak to power. They visit the Apache, Navajo and Hopi reservations in Arizona, Zuni and Tewa in New Mexico, Shoshone in Nevada, Utes in Utah and Colorado and then on to the Dakotas to visit the people and places that were (and still are) the epicenter of conflict between the native peoples and their European conquerors.
The film is set to feature interviews with Ted Nugent, System Of A Down singer Serj Tankian, Native American Poet and AIM spokesperson John Trudell, Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello, Philospher and Activist Noam Chomsky and many others. Watch the trailer below.
