Jamey Jasta, the voice of HATEBREED, ICEPICK and KINGDOM OF SORROW, will headline the Monster Energy sponsored showcase at RED 7 (outdoor patio stage) on Saturday, March 15th at 4:30pm.
"So far I've only done a few solo shows” Jasta explains, “but they've been killer and the crowds have been great. It's just a fun way for me to play small clubs and bars and perform songs from all 3 bands that I’m in, as well as cover some of my favorite metal and hardcore tracks.”
Jamey Jasta and the rest of the guys in HATEBREED have taken a few months off to work on personal projects but will rejoin forces to prepare and film their highly anticipated, first ever released LIVE DVD in the band’s history by documenting their sold out show in Detroit, IL at Harpos on March 29th. In true Jasta form, he has still maintained a break neck schedule by just releasing the long awaited labor of love, KINGDOM OF SORROW (Relapse Records) self titled debut with close friend Kirk Windstein (Down/Crowbar) which entered the Billboard’s New Artist chart at #2. If Jamey’s schedule isn’t busy enough, he has recently been spending extra hours in his home recording studio working on his solo project. “I am in such a great space creatively, these days”, proclaimed Jasta, “I have been writing profusely on my solo material. I don’t have a release date in mind for this project, but my studio work is certainly sharpening my vocal and writing skills for the next HATEBREED studio album which is going to be completely next level!”
Jamey Jasta’s backing band for his solo SXSW performance will be held down by Connecticut’s own underground hardcore veterans, PHANTOMS, who will also be playing a set of their own early in the day. “These guys are insane, just a raw vicious ball of energy,” Jasta said of having Phantoms, “they are a killer band that will make this performance a special one!”

Polish death metal veterans VADER will play an exclusive show in Egypt on April 11 at La Villa Club in Kair at. Support at the concert will come from local acts WORM and DARK PHILOSOPHY. The show will be organized by Music Gates agency.
Commented Mariusz Kmiolek of the Polish booking agency Massive Music: "That will be definitely an exciting outing, Vader have never played in Egypt and frankly speaking, we feel almost like pioneers trying to put up a death metal flag on a 'no-man's-land.' We have some doubts (concerning safety and gig's organization) but hopefully the organizers of the show will do the best to make this show an unforgettable experience both for the fans and the band. We are going to play a great concert for a great audience and be back home safe and sound."
Two weeks before the Egypt concert, VADER will embark on a tour of South America, playing 10 shows with MARDUK in such countries as Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela.

Drummer/vocalist Atsuo of Japanese cult band BORIS recently chatted with Crustcake.com, discussing writing process, collaborating with Sunn O))), and upcoming plans.
A couple days before Boris' recent NYC gig, the crustcake crew tracked down drummer Atsuo at his hotel on the upper west side for a brief interview. The man was soft-spoken, very well-dressed, and extremely polite.
"There's a communal experience at our shows and I really enjoy that," said Atsuo, "I look forward to that in the future and I want people to come out and see us play and have that experience together."
You can watch the whole interview here or below.
With the framework for the Armageddon of Man firmly laid with the band’s
2007 full-length release, "Framing Armageddon - Something Wicked Part I", ICED EARTH are set to launch the next installment of Jon Schaffer's "Something Wicked" saga with the release of their new single, "I Walk Among You", in June of 2008. The full-length studio follow-up to "Something Wicked Part I" is due for release in fall of 2008.
The new single and proceeding full-length studio album mark the return to the band of longtime frontman Matt Barlow, whose dark and sinister tones are the perfect fit to narrate the intense and viscous annihilation of mankind set in motion with the birth of the story’s main character, "Set Abominae", in "Something Wicked Part II". The single will allow fans to get a glimpse of the bright future for the band, and the perhaps not-so-bright future for humanity as we now know it.
The single will feature three songs, an exclusive version of the song "I Walk Alone" and a few tracks from "Framing Armageddon (Something Wicked Part 1)" with new vocal performances by Matt Barlow. Due to the re-tracking of the lead vocals these tracks have been remixed and remastered. There will be an iTunes-exclusive version of the single "I Walk Among You" that features "A Charge To Keep" which has also been re-sung by Matt, remixed and re-mastered.
The video for "I Walk Alone" is being filmed in early April.
All tracks were recorded at Jon Schaffer's studio, Soaring Eagle Sound, and mixed and mastered at Morrisound. The single, and following full-length platter will be released by Steamhammer/SPV.
"I Walk Among You" (cover artwork) track listing:
01. I Walk Alone
02. Setian Massacre
03. The Clouding
04. A Charge to Keep (exclusive iTunes track)

SYSTEM OF A DOWN singer Serj Tankian has been added to the lineup of this year's Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival, scheduled for April 25-27 at the Empire Polo Field in Indio, California. With SCARS ON BROADWAY, the new band featuring SYSTEM guitarist Daron Malakian and drummer John Dolmayan, previously announced for the festival, it's likely that speculation will start about whether the musicians will get together for a surprise SYSTEM reunion. The band has been on hiatus since the fall of 2006, with Tankian releasing his first solo album, "Elect the Dead", last fall. The SCARS ON BROADWAY debut is due out this summer.
Malakian recently told MTV.com that SYSTEM's hiatus may be permanent, saying, "If anyone's holding their breath for a SYSTEM record, they're going to turn blue and pass out. It's a long ways away, if it ever even happens."
HAIL OF BULLETS, the new band featuring GOREFEST drummer Ed Warby, THANATOS guitarists Stephan Gebédi and Paul Baayens, former PESTILENCE/ASPHYX singer Martin Van Drunen and former HOUWITSER bass player Theo van Eekelen, has set "…Of Frost And War" as the title of its debut album, due in Europe on May 19 (except in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy, where it will arrive three days earlier) via Metal Blade Records. The CD was recorded in February/March of 2008 at Excess Studios in Rotterdam, Holland and was mixed and mastered in Sweden by Dan Swanö of EDGE OF SANITY fame.
Comments drummer Ed Warby: "The soundtrack to all-out, total war is here! If you've ever wondered what it feels like to be run over by a 50 ton Tiger tank, now's your chance..."
"…Of Frost And War" will be available as a limited first-edition digipak CD including a bonus track and special pop-up packaging. After this first edition is sold out, there will only be a regular jewelcase edition without the bonus track available, so be quick! The album will be released on vinyl, too. More...
Video footage of GORGOROTH's infamous February 1, 2004 concert in Krakow, Poland will finally will see the light of day! Metal Mind Productions will release the first-ever GORGOROTH DVD, entitled "Black Mass Kraków 2004", featuring the legendary Polish concert, on June 9 in Europe and June 10 in the U.S.
GORGOROTH drew the attention of the international media in early 2004 after their show in Krakow. They were accused of "offending religious feelings" during the gig, as well as suspected of breaching Polish law concerning the protection of animal rights by using severed and impaled heads of sheep as part of their stage design. The controversial concert in Poland resulted in the group being investigated for the possible breach of Article 196 of Polish penal code concerning offense of religious feelings (the maximum penalty for breaching this article is five years in prison).
The Norwegian band, which is widely known for its antichristian ideology, had promised on its web site that the Polish concert would be an "amazing show with lots of pyro, gallons of blood, live crucifixion and nude models." Despite this, the employees of the Krakow branch of TVP claimed that they had no knowledge of what the musicians and the promoters had in mind until they saw the actual performance. The concert, which was recorded at the studio of a TV station in Krakow, "was never meant to reach the media," according to the band’s vocalist Gaahl. "Producers Metal Mind Productions bought the sheep heads at a butcher shop. We weren't involved in animal torture of any kind."
In one of the band's first interviews after this controversial concert, Infernus told Canada's Unrestrained! magazine, "We didn't plan to really have an outcome like that, our only intent was to go there and film the DVD. All the chaos and media reaction that came from this was a surprise of sorts." Asked if they "were worried when the authorities were called," Infernus answered, "Not worried, really. I mean, what was the worst thing they could do? Destroy the tapes? I don't think they would do that and I don't think they could really do any harm to us, though they might be able to put the Polish producer away in prison for a few years. For us, this will probably help us sell a few more records. As of now, I can only think that the DVD will be put out eventually. It would be almost like they are stuck in the Middle Ages in Poland if they destroyed the tapes by burning them. I hope to get them back one day… I hope."
The "Black Mass Kraków 2004" DVD will contain the Krakow show as the main feature. Additionally, it will include bonus video material performance footage recorded live at the With Full Force Festival in Leipzig, Germany in 2000, biography, discography, photo gallery, desktop images, weblinks, Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound and more. The DVD will be available in two versions: as a standard DVD and as a very unique star metalpack DVD edition limited to 5,000 copies. More...

A late spring/early summer release via SPV is expected. Other tracks set to appear on the CD include "Shadow Sun", "At Tragic Heights", "Spring of Rage" and "Hers is the Twilight".
Metal Mind Productions will release the first-ever DVD from Polish extreme metallers DECAPITATED, entitled "Human's Dust", on June 9 in Europe and June 10 in the U.S. The DVD will be available in two versions: as a standard DVD and as a very unique star metalpack DVD edition limited to 3,000 copies.

HATEBREED frontman Jamey Jasta is currently working on material for his forthcoming solo project.
"I am in such a great space creatively these days," he said. "I have been writing profusely on my solo material. I don't have a release date in mind for this project, but my studio work is certainly sharpening my vocal and writing skills for the next HATEBREED studio album which is going to be completely next level!"
Jamey Jasta will play a solo show at this year's South By Southwest music and media conference in Austin, Texas. He will perform on Saturday, March 15 at Red 7.
Jamey previously stated that HATEBREED's next studio release will be a "covers" albums, which will include the band's versions of songs from such varied acts as CRO-MAGS, CROWBAR, D.R.I. and METALLICA.
Jamey Jasta recently spoke to Revolver magazine about the group's split with Roadrunner Records, the company that released HATEBREED's latest CD, 2006's "Supremacy". "They had a bunch of people on their label, and we felt we didn't get the publicity push that we deserved for our last record," he said. "We realized we need to go to a place where we can be the big fish in the small pond. But ultimately there're no hard feelings; the split was good on both sides."
Asked if HATEBREED is actively looking for a label, Jasta replied, "Well, first we're gonna do a separate deal for our DVD. There's always been so much red tape with DVDs, and we want to make sure we do it right. We're actually recording the majority of the footage over Christmas break during my label's annual Stillborn Fest. I'm hoping for a May or June 2008 DVD release."
