Paris-based hard rock band PYRO has announced the addition of drummer Anthony Hayet (ex-GLADBOOBY, SISYPHUS, KASHMIR) to the group's ranks. The band — Stephane Collin (vocals), Bruno Pyro (guitar), Joel Pyro (guitar), Alexander Demetriou (bass) and Hayet — is currently rehearsing for tour dates in support of its new album, "Stab in the Back", due in April via Gofannon Records/Pervade Productions. Distribution will be handled by Socadisc. Gofannon/Pervade will also re-release PYRO's back catalog, including the "Velvet Glove" and "Breaking Point" albums and the "Stop the World" EP.
PRISTINA, the new band featuring former members of 100 DEMONS, A THOUSAND FALLING SKIES, INVOCATION OF NEHEK and DRY KILL LOGIC, has signed a deal with Spare Change Records. The group's debut album, "Boner Jams (The Harpooned Heart)", will be released this spring. Rough mixes of three songs can be found at the band's MySpace page.
Commented vocalist Brendan K. Duff (formerly of 100 DEMONS): "Basically we cannot stand the mediocre hair-and-pants bands that somehow pass for metal or metalcore, or what have you these days. We identify with older greats like BLOODLET, STARKWEATHER, RORSCHACH, TODAY IS THE DAY and DEADGUY. We're definatly not for everyone, but fans of the aforementioned bands finally have an alternative to the garbage that these current bands are forcing down our throats."
"Boner Jams (The Harpooned Heart)" track listing:
01. Lady Baphomet
02. Vicodin Song
03. Fucking Destroyer
04. Trenches And Dogfaces
05. Lilith's Severed Head
07. The Rat.The Pig.The Spider
08. Day Of Days
BESIEGED have announced that Mattie Montgomery has taken over vocal duties for the band following the departure of their previous singer a few weeks ago. Formerly of the band EARTH VS. THE SPIDER, Montgomery has already begun recording vocal tracks for the band's debut album, Atlantis, due out in June.

Artists Noted Artist KRIS VERWIMP, whose extraordinary illustrations bring to life a fantasy world of proud warriors and wondrous beasts, has once again produced the cover artwork for the forthcoming release from Epic Pagan Metallers CROM.
Walter (CROM) Grosse commented "Kris is a long time friend, and we have a history of collaboration, so he was the obvious choice to produce the artwork, capturing so perfectly as it does the atmosphere created by the songs themselves."
The album, entitled “Vengeance”, is in the very final stages of completion and includes SERAPH (drums) and V. SANTURA (some additional guitars & additional choirs) of German Black Metallers DARK FORTRESS in the line up, plus a guest appearance by DAGON, vocalist from UK Black Metallers HEATHEN DEITY, performing a spoken intro on one of the tracks. Labels are currently being sought. Two tracks from the “Vengeance” album can be heard on the band website at www.croms-revenge.de.
CROM is himself a former guitarist with DARK FORTRESS and also has a Black Metal side project with DARK FORTRESS vocalist AZATHOTH. The band, SINDECADE, released an MCD entitled “Terrorcrowned” in 2006, a track from which can be heard here.
The CROM artwork can be seen here along with more examples of VERWIMP's work and designs for album covers.

Danish thrashers HATESPHERE have uploaded two new songs — "Let Them Hate" and "Floating" — to their MySpace page. The tracks come off the group's new album, "Serpent Smiles and Killer Eyes", due in Europe on April 30 (April 27 in Germany) via SPV Records. The CD was mixed by Tue Madsen at Antfarm studios in Århus, Denmark. According to the band, "We decided to focus more on getting a heavy crunchy sound this time, that would suit the somewhat slower songs on this album, and the guitars are crushing!!! 'Serpent Smiles and Killer Eyes' has taken us in a slightly different direction — of course, still with the main purpose of making your ears bleed, haha, but this time we went for a more mid-tempo approach to finetune our sonic attack." Check out the CD artwork at this location. More...

I am absolutely stoked for Dream Theater to finally play Download... In a career already filled with so many personal achievements and dreams having been realized, somehow an invitation to play Download or Donington has always eluded us thus far... After all our hard work for the past 21 years and having made so many fans and friends in the U.K., it's nice to finally get the invitation! Swiss outfit Knut has solidified its line-up in the wake of the departure of guitarist Jeremy Tavernier several months ago. First the group added a guitarist named Tim. Now, most recently, a friend of Tim's by the name of Christian has also joined the band. Here's a comment from the band:
"We found a hard-working dude willing to take the chance. His name is Christian, he's an old friend of Tim's and he seems to be working out fine. He's got his own gear, he's got a sound and can play fast. Plus he's alarmingly mellow and will be a father for a second time this summer. So it looks like we're a functioning band again, a goddamn five-piece ready to shred - live and hopefully on record before Bush gets kicked out of office..."
