Nine Inch Nails mainman, Trent Reznor, issues the following update on his official website:
"First of all, a sincere THANK YOU for the response to 'Ghosts'. We are all amazed at the reaction for what we assumed would be a quiet curiosity in the NIN catalog. My faith in all of you has been restored - let's all go have coffee somewhere (my treat)!"
"Today we announce the expansion of the 'Ghosts' project into the visual world. This record began as an experiment with us using sound as a means to describe visuals. Early in the project we thought it would be interesting to see what the community could create / collaborate on as a reaction to the music we were making. We wanted to keep the canvas as blank as possible for you, hence the lack of descriptive song titles and the primarily textural artwork and packaging." More...
Audio samples of all 12 tracks that are set to appear on "A Sense Of Purpose", the new album from Swedish metallers IN FLAMES, are available for streaming at Play.com. Due on April 1 (April 7 in most of Europe via Nuclear Blast), the follow-up to 2006's "Come Clarity" was recorded at the band's own IF Studios in Gothenburg, Sweden and was mixed by Toby Wright (METALLICA, SLAYER). The group received assistance during the vocal-recording sessions from producer Daniel Bergstrand, who previously produced the vocals on "Reroute To Remain", "Soundtrack To Your Escape" and "Come Clarity". All artwork for the album was created by Alex Pardee for ZeroFriends. Alex also created the artwork for the first single, "The Mirror's Truth".

Dark new Day, the band featuring Clint Lowery (guitar; ex-KORN touring member, SEVENDUST) Troy McLawhorn (guitar; EVANESCENCE, ex-DOUBLE DRIVE), Clint's brother Corey Lowery (bass; ex-STEREOMUD, STUCK MOJO) Brett Hestla (vocals; ex-CREED, VIRGOS MERLOT) and Will Hunt (drums; EVANESCENCE, ex-SKRAPE, TOMMY LEE) has called it quits according to a blog posted (which is now deleted from their MySpace) by drummer Will Hunt. The end of the band is apparently due to their label, Warner Bros., not being able to make a timely decision on the band and the release of their new studio album.
The band completed their second album in December and had been reportedly "working on a release date" in January.
In May last year Evanescence "borrowed" drummer Will Hunt and guitarist Troy McLawhorn to tour with them. Vocalist Clint Lowery also did a stint as a touring guitarist with Korn later in the year.

The trek, also featuring CINDERELLA, will launch at the Rocklahoma festival and will also include an appearance at the Rock Fest in Cadott, Wisconsin on July 17.
Regarding how it feels performing with Jani Lane once again, Sweet told the Artisan News Service, "It's freaking bizarre." Allen added, "It's like a time warp." Sweet continued, "It brings back a lot of memories obviously. Joey and I have been back in the band for the last three years without Jani, so it's like a new old thing again."
Asked if the band has plans of getting back into the studio together to write new material, Sweet said, "Not immediately, but we're already working on new ideas and probably by the end of the year, once things slow down with travel, that we'll get back in and start putting some things down."

Reuters reports: Actress Valerie Bertinelli has said her ex-husband Eddie Van Halen is not in rehab, but she declined to say exactly what is ailing the rock guitarist, People.com reported on Wednesday.
"The reports about him being in rehab are wrong. Eddie is sober," Bertinelli said at a New York luncheon hosted by cable TV's Hallmark Channel, according to the Web site of celebrity magazine People.
This month rock band VAN HALEN, which Eddie co-founded with his brother Alex, canceled it's tour dates until April 19th and said the 53 year-old guitarist is undergoing medical tests. But the band has not divulged details of his illness.
In the 1990s, Eddie Van Halen had hip replacement surgery and was treated for oral cancer. He also has battled alcohol abuse with a stint in rehab, which led to current speculation about a return to treatment.
Bertinelli on Wednesday said "he's being proactive about his illness" but declined to be more specific.
Van Halen had a string of hits including 'Runnin' With The Devil' and 'Panama' starting in the late 1970s. In August the group unveiled plans for its current 25-city North American tour that began in September 2007.
In its first week the new Nine Inch Nails 36-track instrumental album "Ghosts I-IV" had a total of 781,917 transactions, which includes free and paid downloads as well as orders for the physical copy, resulting in $1,619,420 USD. The 2,500 copies of the ultra deluxe edition of the album, which sold for $300, sold out in three days.
"Ghosts I-IV" will see a physical release on April 8th.

Texas black/war metal cult BAHIMIRON have just finished their second album (and first for Moribund), "Southern Nihilism". Reports drummer Blaash, "I am pleased to announce that Bahimiron's Southern Nihilism is now entirely recorded, with nine tracks clocking in between 40-45 minutes. We still need to mix and master it, and this should be done by the end of next month at the latest, barring suicides/homicides/nuklear carnage. As a band, we are very content with the amount of depression and violence this album conveys - we have a wide mangleation of material from a six-minute droning suicide song to a three-minute cut-your-goddamn-gutz-out type of songs, and all the blood and pukeage in between."
