Swiss metallers Eluveitie are the new kids on the folk metal block, but they've already made a big impact with releases such as "Slania" and their recent all-instrumental disc "Evocation I - The Arcane Dominion." The band has now released a new Celtic themed death metal experience in the form of "Everything Remains As It Never Was." While the album keeps up the epic folk elements, it focuses more on the human tales behind the stories of legend.
Front man Christian "Chrigel" Glanzmann explained, "When you are dealing with history you get hard facts like this war started then and ended then, end of story. Stuff like that is very dry but I think you should always keep in mind that in the end its people like you and me who stand behind such historical incidents and write history. That is the strong focus of the lyrics." Chrigel recently spoke with me about the many different recording studios used for the album, their recent use of an electronic bagpipe for live shows, and his own surprising taste in music. More...
MetalSucks recently interviewed Sevendust guitarist Clint Lowery about his return to the band, the chemistry in the studio, working with producer Johnny K, and what the band's new record "Cold Day Memory" means to him. An excerpt follows:
MetalSucks: How is this record different or a step forward or whatever it is? What’s the deal with this record musically speaking?
Clint: I think it has good songs. I think this is a pure Sevendust record. It’s got all the elements: LJ’s vocals, my vocals, Morgan’s vocals, our kind of riffs, when it’s melodic it is really melodic, and when it’s heavy it is really heavy. I think it is one of the stronger “song” records that we have ever put out. All the songs mean something. There are no filler songs. It’s a real potent record, I think. I think it summarizes everything that this band is.
MetalSucks: What’s your goal with this record? Are you guys trying to accomplish anything in terms of touring or musically speaking? What is the big plan?
Clint: We’re just trying to expose more people to the band, and the people who are already exposed, win their love again. We just want to be a successful band; whatever that means to us. Success means surviving, paying our bills, having people come to watch our shows and enjoy it, and giving the fans what they want. It’s a bunch of different things like that. To us we don’t have to sell a billion records, we just want to be able to survive, and we’ve been able to do that.More...

German metallers Through The Ashes have officially called it a day and disbanded. The various members of the band have stated they will still be continuing on with other musical projects. The following statement regarding the break up was also posted on the band's MySpace page:
"That's it folks...hey! TTA has been buried yesterday. The reasons for this are complex (time, tastes, etc.), what's important is simply that we are not broke up the battle! All members will of course continue to make music, both within existing bands, as well as new projects! Thanks to all who have supported us in any way, and celebrate with us!"
There are still several Through the Ashes tracks available for streaming online at this location.

The new release is the follow-up to the critically acclaimed debut by the band, "A Manifesto For Domination." It features the debut of new vocalist Steve Braun (Ashent, Siloam) , as well as a guest appearance by Pamela Moore of Queensryche fame.
The album was produced by Lasse Lammert (Alestorm, Svartsot) and guitarist Jon Bodan. Drums were engineered by Mike Froedge (doubleDrive, Bloodsimple, Speed X) at Open Sky Studios in Atlanta. Lammert is mixing the album at his studio, LSD-Tonstudio in Germany.

The song comes from the bands forthcoming new studio album, "Exhibit B: The Human Condition" which will be released on May 7th through Nuclear Blast Records. Speaking on the song, guitarist and founder Gary Holt stated:
"We decided to put up an early rough mix of ‘Hammer And Life’ to give everybody a little taste of the new record. The really fast songs you'll get soon enough! This song is inspired by the one and only [original vocalist] Paul Baloff, our ode to him. Paul was always the hammer in EXODUS and he lived for metal more than anyone I've ever known. R.I.P."

Greek metallers Nightfall have issued the following statement about the title of their new album:
"As said in previous post Tyrants represent the punishment accrued from our own actions, the allegoric way. But what about the first part of the title, Astron Black? The Astron refers to the bearer of light, the sun, life itself and phos that allows no secret to remain hidden for ever, the hope, the hunter, the ray slashing the monotony of nothing, the effort to breathe to cry to understand to communicate and ultimately to create, the god, the gods, the man!
"The Black refers to the endless, the eternal warm nest either within us or far above, the mystery, the epitome of arcane that asks to be conquered and the challenge that cannot be regretted, the deep, the soul attractor and fears the force’s being made of, the vessel of creation, the goddess, the womb, the woman!
"Astron Black is a fiction persona in human like body shape. Moving throughout centuries, being inspired and eventually driven by its needs and wills, this beast-cum-beauty and vice versa creature moves violently in harmonious circles known as Time. That Aenaon creature symbolizes the opposite natures in universe, the duality that characterizes every form of life and action whose motion generates aural waves, inking the pages of collective subconscious chronicles."

Canadian extreme metallers Kataklysm have completed the song writing process for their new album entitled "Heaven’s Venom." The album is tentatively scheduled for a fall 2010 release via Nuclear Blast.
Vocalist Maurizio Iacono commented: "It’s done after two years of hard work! We really made sure we had every element covered, going over all the riffs and arrangements hundreds of times to make it the best it could be. Our fans have given us so much over the years and it was time for us, without any label pressure or time limit, to give back with the album they have been waiting for. We think we’ve accomplished something special, but we are not going to say this is the heaviest or best Kataklysm and all that stuff. The fans will decide that. I just know the mission is accomplished when all of us have big cheesy smiles on our faces!
"We’re going to take a little break now and hit the road with Kreator, which should be a lot of fun! Come party with us and hang out. As soon as we are back we will give the album one last check up and then start recording this beast. Should be warped up and mixed by this summer. Next year it will be the bands 20th anniversary so you can bet that we will deliver the goods. We promise! Lots of cool surprises ahead. See ya!”
Some tentative song titles appearing on the album include “Soul Made of Shrapnel,” “Blind Savior,” “Hail the Renegade” and “Push the Venom.”
"Heaven’s Venom" will be Kataklysm's follow up to their 2008 release, "Prevail." Guitarist J-F Dagenais (Malevolent Creation, Misery Index ) will once again handle the recording process, while Tue Madsen (The Haunted, Suicide Silence, Winds of Plague, Dark Tranquillity) will handle mixing duties this time around.

"Once again the same old problems arrive and Antifa [Anti-Facism Network] try to get as many gigs on the European canceled as they can with their terrorism. It is apparently irrelevant what we do or say when they have already decided what we stand for, and as anyone can tell, HORNA has always had big political messages, symbols and pictures in our releases and live shows... or quite the opposite!! A big fuck off to Antifa and their fascist intolerant propaganda!! HORNA has never been a band with NS message. We are satanist, religious, devil-worshipping, alcohol-consuming occult bastards and our band has NOTHING to do with NS."

"With everybody’s commitments to work, family and other things, we have decided that it is best that we do not commit to any deadline for the next album as we wouldn’t want to rush and deliver a record that we are not 100% happy with. Song writing will continue as and when we can but we honestly couldn’t say when we will be ready to go into the studio to record again, it will definitely NOT be in 2010. Please rest assured that it will happen but sometimes it is better to stop and think of what is best for Orange Goblin as a band!"

The network, however, remains committed to reflecting both genres throughout the schedule as part of its core music offering. We would very much like to thank Bruce Dickinson for the hard work and commitment he has shown to 6 Music over the past eight years."
