WEDNESDAY 13 has uploaded two new songs, "Not Another Teenage Anthem" and the title track, "Skeletons," from his upcoming CD to his MySpace page.
WEDNESDAY 13 recently announced that "Skeletons" will be available exclusively at Hot Topic.
Commented Jon Nelson, Wednesday 13's manager, "Once we decided to self-release Wednesday 13's upcoming music, the next step was to partner with a company that would be excited and support the release. Music retailers are closing their stores at a rapid place, or they are gauging the customers and jacking the prices up for a new release to $14-$17.99. There is no reason for that. We made one call to Hot Topic, and we are extremely excited about this relationship. Hot Topic will be the only brick-and-mortar store that will be stocking the CD. You will still be able to get the CD online and on tour." More...

New Jersey technical death metallers, The Binary Code, have issued the following update on their Myspace page regarding the departure of their singer:
"Woody and the Binary Code have parted ways as of February 4th, 2008. Everything was done on good terms. Woody has a life ahead of him that needed some changes, and being in a time consuming band was not on the itinerary. Woody will possibly continue his musical career at a slower pace with his original band In the Ether."
"That all being said, we ARE looking for a singer right now. We have played every show since February 4th without a singer and felt it was a success nonetheless. However, we do want to fill that position once again. A big factor in the decision made between Woody and the Binary Code was dedication. We require a sickening amount of dedication to be in this band. Many of you who know us personally already know how much we rehearse and write throughout the week. If you're interested, and want more details about future plans, possible label details, shows that aren't posted, etc, just ask us." More...

CLOVEN HOOF are doing this show as a thank you for the amazing reception the band got at the Purple Turtle show a while back. It will be an amazing night of British metal." More...

Bloodsimple frontman Tim Williams sat down with PureGrainAudio to talk about the band's new album, Vision of Disorder's legacy, and how he's managed to survive over a decade in the music business. An excerpt of the interview follows:
PureGrainAudio: In 2006 Vision of Disorder did a couple reunion shows and there was a talk of a DVD release. What is the status of that release and would you ever reunite for a full tour?
Tim: I don’t think we’d ever do a full tour, but we will probably do some major cities here and there. We’re lucky that people even want to see that band anymore, so we’re not going to milk it. We’ll look at cities that we think would be cool to play, maybe head to Japan or something, but we’re going to keep it limited. As far as the DVD, it’s just been a bitch because Mike and I are in Bloodsimple and tied to Warner Bros., so the paper work is at our lawyers but it’s taken a while to clear all the red tape. It looks like there is an end in sight, so we’re hoping to have it out possibly this summer, even though it was supposed to be out last summer.

And in their defiant spirit of overturning convention - from flying their own plane around the world on a record-breaking tour to selling over 70 million albums Worldwide without mainstream radio or TV support - today Iron Maiden announce a revolutionary new way of delivering music to their fans.
"With the overwhelming success of the current Somewhere Back In Time World Tour 08, and the recent #1 selling DVD Live After Death, which has already gone double-platinum in Canada, EMI are proud to release a very special album on May 13th to chart the first decade of the band’s extraordinary career. Manager Rod Smallwood explains the thinking behind this innovative move: More...

Myself, my wife and my youngest daughter, Mirjam, all checked into the semi-posh Commodore suites of the Silja Symphony boat, and I knew right then this trip was going to be a memory for life."
"I wasn't really nervous for our own gig, even though we hadn't played since last summer and even though our setlist consisted of a few songs we hadn't played for a long time plus one new song, 'Heir Apparent'. Savannah’s KYLESA will be embarking on a co-headlining tour in May with Germany’s The Ocean in May and early June. Also on the tour will be Lair of The Minotaur and KYLESA’s Prosthetic Records labelmates WITHERED. KYLESA continues to support 2006’s "Time Will Fuse Its Worth," which recently sent the band to Europe alongside fellow Georgians Baroness. WITHERED, meanwhile, will be supporting the band’s forthcoming release, "Folie Circulaire," which is currently slated for release in June. The effort is currently being recorded by Phillip Cope (Baroness, Kylesa, Black Tusk).
“Everything is going very well,” WITHERED guitarist Mike Thompson previously said from the studio. “Phillip has a great ear and a great vision for this album. I think it will likely exceed our expectations. Phillip has really gotten a grasp of how we want the record to sound and done a great job of getting in our heads. We were able to transform The Jam Room into our own little world. We’ve been sleeping on the floor and have completely lost track of time. There are no windows or clocks. The focus has been incredible.”
“We chose to work with Phillip because we’ve known him for a long time and his crusty background with Damad and Kylesa is something we really wanted to incorporate into the record,” Thompson elaborates. “A full tilt death or black metal production would have been the wrong direction. Phillip is also a big fan of black and death metal which gives him a unique perspective that we can trust.” An image of the band and Cope can be viewed here.
"Folie Circulaire" is the follow-up to 2005’s critically-acclaimed "Memento Mori," and will be the band’s Prosthetic Records debut. An unnamed demo song from ‘Folie Circulaire,’ along with previous material, is available on WITHERED’s official MySpace page.

Leon Macey of the UK psychedelic brutal death metal masters MITHRAS has issued the following update:
"First off, we're no longer signed to Candlelight Records. Although we signed with them for a possible three albums (of which 'Behind The Shadows Lie Madness' was the first), Candlelight decided not to take up the option in our contract for what we're just calling 'album four' at the mopment, giving the reason that we don't tour. While we're not particularly disgruntled by this, it did come as a bit of a surprise given the fact we made them aware we weren't a touring band when they signed us (and we signed as a duo). However, the music industry has changed a lot over the last few years and it is definitely a different and harder market these days. Nonetheless, it was a great experience working with Candlelight on 'Behind The Shadows...' and we wish them all the best for the future. Work continues on album four as I type this..." More...
