Sun of the Blind's "Skullreader," which was three years in the making and created by Zhaaral (better known or his militancy in the obscure DARKSPACE collective), is being readied for an April release via Avantgarde Music.
With Zhaaral taking care of all compositions, singing and instrumentations, it is pretty clear that Zhaaral is the raison d'etre of Sun of the Blind, although an important value-add in the last steps of his quest was provided by Roberto of Monumentum, who adorned the dark spine of Skullreader with various synthetic textures and samplings.
Two songs from "Skullreader" are now up on the band's Myspace player.

Metallica frontman James Hetfield was recently taken to hospital after suffering from a stomach bug. A message from him reads as follows:
"James here, alive, at about 80% but getting better. I want to say sorry for missing the second Stockholm gig on Sunday due to illness. The cause/diagnosis at the hospital was narrowed down to either a 24 hr virus or a bad oyster...yes, hate to admit, an oyster could have taken me down.
"I acknowledge and apologize for any inconvenience this has caused fans who had travelled near and far for the show. I had done everything possible to make it, and was at the point of falling if I stood up. On a lighter note since my illness, the support band 'Swedish Oyster Cult' will be thrown off the tour. More Cowbell?...More barf bagz!!
"Thanx for your understanding and support. It's not without notice from the whole 'Tallica Touring Family.
"With Love and Respect, James 'papa het'."

"As you all know 80% of the original MERCYFUL FATE line-up (King Diamond, Hank Shermann, Michael Denner and Timi Hansen) re-recorded with present MF drummer Bjarne T. Holm two ultimate Mercy classics for the upcoming METALLICA: Guitar Hero game. For those who aren’t into gaming it’s interesting to know that those two songs (‘Evil’ and ‘Curse Of The Pharaohs’) will be released on iTunes round mid April.
"Also interesting to know that Andy LaRocque mastered these two tracks for a possible EP-picture, released by Metal Blade and Massacre.
"At this moment we are working on both Mercyful Fate and King Diamond DVD’s. Both releases will contain two DVD’s and it will be worth the wait as it has some very exclusive content which surely no one outside the band has ever seen.
"We have been working on the following concerts. Please note content of the DVD’s might change. Concerts mentioned here might after all not appear on the DVD. More...

Lamb Of God are currently touring around the globe in support of their acclaimed new studio album, "Wrath." Drummer Chris Adler has checked in with the following message for fans:
"Tonight we are in Jakarta , Indonesia . Tomorrow is the last show of the first leg of the ‘Wrath’ tour. I can’t express in words how things have changed for us in the past 6 weeks. Wrath has debuted at #2. We are literally astonished. With the economy brittle and an abundance of copycat artists, we were able to shock the music world and pull off what no one else has done. To get a better understanding, the record industry has declined 30% since our last album, Sacrament, debuted in August 2006, yet we prevailed and outsold that record….with a new record that is brutal slap to the face of all popular music. I could not be more proud of the band for making the record we wanted, but more importantly you, the friends and family of this band, are the ones that made it a reality. The credit is yours. The revolution is ours.
"This is a triumph not only for us, but for metal. I look at it as objectively as possible - this is not about us in Lamb of God, this is the tide turning against the sing-song, look-alike pretty-boy industry. It’s unreal to be a part of, and at the moment leading, the charge in this important direction. I rejoice in the dent we have created in the establishment, but it never could have happened without you. I mean that. This is the time for us all to raise a glass to each other and understand that together we are dictating the future of real music. I can’t tell you how amazing that is to me. I now look forward to the future of music and the evolution of metal. Nu Metal is officially dead, and we can all hopefully begin look forward to cute teenage girls no longer being exploited with jingles written in back rooms by old men with music formulas. Together we’ve shocked the world, and we are proud and honored to have your support. This is your victory as much as it is ours. We are lucky you have our back!

Athera (Pal Mathieson) - vocalist with Norwegian band SUSPERIA was rushed into Akershus Universitetssykehus Hospital in Lørenskog, Norway on the morning of March 9th suffering from acute stomach pains and heavy bleeding. Initial tests revealed that the singer had suffered a heart attack caused by a damaged blood vessel. Athera is currently in the intensive care unit under close observation, while further tests are carried out. He is expected to remain hospitalized for the foreseeable future. At this moment future plans including touring commitments remain unchanged, until a full diagnosis of his condition has been confirmed.
Athera recently completed vocals on Susperia's fifth studio album, which is due for an early summer release through the band's new label Candlelight Records.
The band worked continuously throughout 2008 on the album which Athera described as "going back to the early days with the melancholic riffing and dark emotional vocals and coming all the way through to today, with a perfect blend of everything Susperia has been and become".
Korn's lead vocalist Jonathan Davis recently did an interview with the Pulse Of Radio. During the conversation, the topic of the reunion of old friends Limp Bizkit was brought up. Here's what he had to say on the matter:
"I just hope Fred just isn't an asshole like he usually is. We'll see what happens, hopefully Fred's got it together, 'cause there was one time when Fred was a really cool guy.
"The fame hit and went to his head. So I miss the old Fred," he added. "He was my buddy. So maybe he's humbled now and if he's like that then I'd definitely hang with him and be friends with him again."
Both bands will be performing at the UK's Download Festival this year and Limp Bizkit aare currently a big rumour for the Family Values tour.

A Motley Crue concert in Hershey, Pennsylvania resulted in the arrest of eleven people last Sunday night. Nineteen charges were pressed against the offenders, including six for disorderly conduct, four for public drunkenness, three for underage drinking, two for trespassing and single counts of possession of marijuana, possession of drugs, aggravated assault and resisting arrest.
After his four applications for parole were denied, Varg Vikernes (Count Grishnackh) formerly of Burzum was finally told he will be released from prison after 16 years incarcerated.
Vikerenes was serving a 23-year sentence for the murder of Oystein Aarseth (aka Euronymous), guitarist of Mayhem and owner of Deathlike Silence Productions record label that Burzum was signed to. Varg was also convicted for setting fire to three churches.
Varg says that he is "...ready for society..." and has been for many years. He told Dagbladet newspaper, "I have learned from my mistakes and become older. Now I just want to be together with my family...I have barely seen my [18-month old] son since he came into the world. Even though I hear his voice on the phone almost every day, it is very tough to not be present while he is growing up." Varg regularly left the prison for the past couple of years to visit his mother, wife, 16-year-old daughter and young son in Tromso, Norway, the town where the prison is located.
While some, like the Justice Ministry, fear that he will not be able to adjust to life on the outside, Vikerenes said, "I look forward [to] the day that I could work on my farm, create music, write books and be with my family around the clock---and live a normal life." When asked by VG newspaper about if a "normal life" involves communication with Neo-Nazi groups he formerly endorsed, Vikernes said he "...[hasn't] been in contact with them for a long time."
Varg may have been paroled earlier, but was denied the second time he applied because the Justice Ministry claimed he escaped prison in 2003.
Varg will join his family in Bo, Norway, where he recently purchased a farm. Once he has been released, he is required to check in with the authorities every two weeks, and then after some time, every month.
