ASSAILANT, the Umeå, Sweden-based band featuring guitarist Oscar Norberg ("little brother" of Emil of PERSUADER/SAVAGE CIRCUS fame and Nils Norberg of NOCTURNAL RITES), has posted two songs from its sophomore album, "Wicked Dream", on the group's MySpace page. Check out the tracks "A Day Tomorrow" and "Wicked Dream" at this location.
Due on March 24 via Dockyard 1, the CD "is not only more mature than its predecessor but it shows a band that has clearly found its own path in metal, very melodic yet really hard, sprinkled with influences of rock, death metal and thrash," according to a press release. "Crown of the album is the ballad 'Eternal'."
ASSAILANT recently finished filming a video for the song "A Day Tomorrow" with Owe Lingvall of Village Road Film.
The band's debut album, "Nemesis Within", was released in 2006 via Dockyard 1.
Speaking exclusively with Sunday News from his Los Angeles mansion, Ozzy Osbourne, the star of the hit show "The Osbournes", said he'd grown to hate reality TV.
"I'm sick and tired of it," Ozzy said.
"I don't like being on the TV we learned that the hard way with having cameras on us 24 hours a day from "The Osbournes" show.
"It seems that every time I turn on the TV they've got another bunch of celebrities with cameras in their faces following them around for a new show and I can't stand it.
"The only good reality show I can think of now is taking a whole bunch of kids, a wild animal and a bucket of dogshit," he laughs. "That's what I think of the whole thing."
But despite his growing disgust with the star-struck brand of reality TV he pioneered with his wife Sharon and kids Jack and Kelly, Ozzy has again found himself in front of the cameras.
Jack Osbourne has been following his heavy metal father around for a documentary on the legendary rocker.
"I knew nothing about it and I turned around one day and he had a camera on me, so I thought, so be it," Ozzy said.
"My son's like me in that way. He'd rather be behind the camera than in front of it."

On March 18th, Prosthetic Records will reissue TESTAMENT's First Strike Still Deadly. Originally issued in 2001 on Spitfire Records, the updated version features new artwork (pictured). The official press release reads as follows:
While revisiting the band’s first two albums, Testament, rather than remastering or reissuing, the classic pairing of Chuck Billy, Alex Skolnick, Eric Peterson along with metal legends Steve DiGiorgio and John Tempesta re-recorded what the band calls ‘their own greatest hits’ collection from the era. With updated production values, Testament staples like 'Into The Pit', 'Over The Wall', the album’s pseudo title track, First Strike Still Deadly both offers longtime fans a welcome addition to the catalog and newcomers a fresh introduction to the classic sound of thrash legends… albeit a bit updated with a heavier sound, slicker production and crisper packaging.
Also, making an appearance on First Strike Still Deadly are two tracks featuring original vocalist - in the days when Testament was known as Legacy - Steve Souza (Exodus, Dublin Death Patrol) on 'Alone In The Dark' and 'Reign Of Terror', as well as artwork with increased imagery, as was intended to be used on the initial release of First Strike Still Deadly.
While others from the mid- to late-80s thrash scene may have compromised their sound, integrity, or both as years passed by, Testament can be proud to wave the flag for an uncompromising honesty over the years in keeping true to the cause. Only getting heavier, faster and more brutal as time passes - the exact things that make First Strike Still Deadly an essential listen for seasoned metalheads and the freshly initiated alike - Testament has solidified their place in metal history as one of the legends, last long beyond formation and still remaining fresh and engaging 20-some years after forming in the bustling Bay Area.
Following the Prosthetic reissues of the brutal Demonic and The Gathering, self-admittedly Billy’s favorite Testament release yet, earlier in 2008, the reissue of First Strike Still Deadly makes a perfect companion to the upcoming release of Testament’s first new studio album in almost a decade, The Formation Of Damnation, which will see an April release.

Swedish doom metallers MEMORY GARDEN have issued the following update:
"We have decided that Johan Fredrikson will be the new bass player in Memory Garden. Johan did a hell of a job at the Swordbrothers Festival in Germany and we have continued rehearsing with him after that. Now we want to take the opportunity to welcome Johan to the Garden camp! Will be a blast mate!"
GUILLOTINE, the reunited Swedish thrash metal band featuring Nils Eriksson (bass) and Fredrik Mannberg (rhythm guitar) of NOCTURNAL RITES, has issued the following update:
"So — Fredrik has finished about seven songs of guitar now [for the new GUILLOTINE album]...and everything sounds awesome! We are so psyched about the new songs. The material feels really diverse and aggressive. The album will be awesome, no doubt. We will be starting to record bass during next week and hopefully move into vocal recordings by the weekend. That's when the fun starts. Fredrik's voice sounds amazing. I don't understand how he sings better now after 10 years of NOT singing."
GUILLOTINE recently posted two newly recorded demo tracks — "War" and "Blood Money" — on its MySpace page.
The band's debut album, "Under the Guillotine", was released in 1997.
In a 1998 interview with Chronicles of Chaos, Eriksson stated about GUILLOTINE, "GUILLOTINE plays music that is much more back to basics and rawer than NOCTURNAL RITES. It is so different. I feel that both bands are so far apart from what style and sound they deliver. It really isn't a task to be a part of both outfits. Making music is what I do and being in both bands keeps me busy. And when I'm busy, I'm one happy musician."

Nocturno Culto from Norwegian black metal legends DARKTHRONE has issued the following update:
"Darkthrone has completed four new songs for the new album, and will record a couple of new ones in a couple of weeks. Ah, and I have to tell you about the new box set from Darkthrone, Frostland Tapes. It really came along better than I hoped, it's nice actually. Three discs, containing all demos, including Land Of Frost of course. Rare original rehearsal tape, Goatlord, plus live from Denmark, drum solo by Fenriz (!) and so on. We can now, simultaneously grabbing our balls, say that after this box, we have no more 'rare' stuff to offer. Frostland Tapes is all of our early history. It's the right timing for it as well actually, since some clever fella has started Gylve Records to release a demo, to put it mildly, the man himself is not very pleased of this shit."

German melodic hardcore band I Defy is breaking up after nearly ten years together. Here's a statement from the band:
"We had great and unforgettable moments and many, many great shows in the last nine years. But due to personal priorities and responsibilities we feel that it is unable for us and unfair and unprofessional to the rest of the world to maintain a band status while not actively pushing this band as is necessary.
"We would like to thank all the people who in one way or another took interest in our music and helped us along the way, supported us while playing and putting out our records. Many thanks to Reflections Records without whom we would have never started this band, Muttis Booking for booking and also Andy at Thorp Records. Last but not least - the kids!
"As we are all involved in other projects (They Want A Flughafen, Guts N' Glory) we will be around in one way or another. Stay in touch and watch out for new band-projects!
"We will play a farewell show in Hannover at Mephisto on the 30th of April with Society's Parasites and Short Fuse. Make sure to make this an unforgetable event!"

"Serenity", the new video from KOTIPELTO, the band led by STRATOVARIUS singer Timo Kotipelto, can be viewed here. The performance footage in the clip was shot in Buenos Aires, Argentina on September 29, 2007.
KOTIPELTO's third album, "Serenity", entered the Finnish national chart at position No. 8. Released in Europe via AFM Records, the CD was recorded at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki, Finland and was mixed by Mikko Karmila. The album's first single, "Sleep Well", entered the Finnish chart at No. 5. The track is also included in the Finnish movie "Vares 2", which had its premiere in January 2007. "The song is a main theme and can be heard when the credits are scrolling at the end of the movie," said the band's leader, Timo Kotipelto. "The music video include[s] clips from the movie. Shortly before Christmas, German power metallers RAGE shot two video clips from their new album, "Carved in Stone", for the songs "Lord of the Flies" and "Open My Grave". According to the band, "while 'Lord of the Flies' is a dark and occult clip with a lot of actors and guests (like singer Jen Majura), 'Open My Grave' presents more the musicians of the band on their instruments. The location was a very old basement cavity from the beginning of the 18th century, which is located under a whorehouse! You can imagine, that the boys had a couple of guests while their stay. The clips were produced by Katja Piolka, who had RAGE in front of her lenses already before."
Watch both videos below.
An orchestral version of the RAGE song "Lord of the Flies", which also appears on the German group's new album, "Carved in Stone", will be featured in the new computer game Windchaser, due in May. According to the band, the new version of the track features "a bombastic arrangement and a great number of top-class guest musicians. With a well-rehearsed, classic team, the Lingua Mortis Orcherstra from Minsk, which [previously made an appearance] on [RAGE's] 'Speak of the Dead' album, and which supported RAGE at various gigs, this special orchestra version of 'Lord of the Flies' sounds like [it is being] played by a 50-member-strong rock band with classic instruments! The recordings took place in January 2008 at the Inspector Studio in Minsk (Belarus), homeland of guitarist Victor Smolski, who is responsible for arrangement and mix of the song." More...
Chicago's NOVEMBERS DOOM will film a video for the song "Rain", taken from the band's latest CD, "The Novella Reservoir", on Sunday, March 9.
Commented singer Paul Kuhr: "This is something we have been talking about doing since recording the CD, and we finally have things ready to do so. We have chosen a specific style and look to this video, which should should be visually interesting to watch. We'll make this available to see on the web soon after editing is complete, and it will also be included on the upcoming DVD 'The Novella Vosselaar: Live in Belgium' later in the year."
NOVEMBERS DOOM has confirmed its appearance at this year's Graspop Metal Meeting on June 27-29, 2008 at De Boeretand in Dessel, Belgium.
Said Kuhr: "This is an absolute honor to be invited to perform, as this is one of the largest music festivals in Europe (quite possibly the world.) Last year's attendance was just over 120,000 people. The opportunity for us is simply amazing, and we're looking forward to playing in Belgium once again, being a part of this stunning lineup!"
In other news, The End Records will reissue two of the earlier albums from the band this spring, both with new artwork, remastered and with bonus tracks. Many of the songs had never been performed live before. Davis took out a five-piece band that included current KORN touring guitarist Shane Gibson and the band's touring keyboardist, Zac Baird.
Davis recorded a live CD/DVD at a private show for friends and family on November 8, 2007.
Jonathan Davis took part in a three-song acoustic performance on the "Kevin & Bean" morning show on the Los Angeles radio station KROQ on November 7, 2007. Watch some of the performance footage below. More...

"We have a tremendous amount of artistic freedom now," explains drummer Dave Chavarri of the band's new label home. "We're able to express ourselves without boundaries on 'Enigma'."
And that new-found freedom is evident from note one. "Enigma" is a much more natural-sounding album than any of its predecessors, with Latin rhythms and Spanish vocals snaking in and out of the more traditional numbers.
Starting with over 30 songs, the band took their time in choosing which tracks would make the final cut. "On past albums we spent about four months to record, mix and master. On 'Enigma' we spent almost seven months, as we wanted to make sure everything was the best that it could be," Chavarri notes.
After the music had been laid down, vocalist Cristian Machado set about penning the lyrics to bring the true identity of each piece.
"It's really about the deterioration of our planet and the policies that have contributed to the current situation of the world," Machado explains of the lyrical bent of "Enigma", "It's a story about destruction and consequence. Life and death. Elemental fury and spiritual awakening." And yet for all of its scathing indictments, the album is one of both anger and beauty. "Ultimately I think our message is a positive one. We promote self-awareness and individuality."
In addition to a new album, April also sees the band returning to the UK for a five-date tour. "We're finally coming back to Europe, all of us in ILL NINO cannot wait to get back and rock out. Visiting Europe and the UK is always an amazing Experience!!"
ILL NINO's UK dates:
April 26 - UK [to be announced]
April 27 - UK - London - Islington Acadamy
April 28 - UK - Wrexham - Central Station
April 29 - UK - Birmingham - Academy 2

Behind-the-scenes footage from the video shoot for MUDVAYNE's "Dull Boy" can be viewed below. "Dull Boy" is the only brand new song featured on MUDVAYNE's 2007 collection of fan-selected rarities, titled "By The People, For The People".
Although MUDVAYNE completed most of its new album last summer in New Orleans, the group will now do some additional work on the project this spring. There's still no official release date for the disc, but drummer Matt McDonough told The Pulse of Radio that he's really anxious for it to come out. "Yeah, it is kind of weird, you know, 'cause I want to share it and for me as an artist, you know, there's this sense of resolution," he said. "You know, I want to see it out there, and the fans' reception of our work is kind of that period at the end of the sentence. Now it's kind of like the sentence has been said, but no one's heard it yet. So it's an exercise in patience, that's for sure."
MUDVAYNE's fourth studio effort will follow up 2005's "Lost and Found".
The new recording work will take place after singer Chad Gray and guitarist Greg Tribbett finish touring with their other group, HELLYEAH.
MUDVAYNE was initially rumored as one of the big acts on this summer's Rockstar Mayhem tour, which is already confirmed to include DISTURBED and SLIPKNOT on the bill, but the band's tour plans are yet to be determined. More...
Rob Zombie has issued the following update;
"Well, yesterday I started work on my next full-length studio album. We wrote a ton of stuff on the last tour and are finally putting it down. I don't have a release date yet. I'll keep you all posted as things progress. That's it."
Rob Zombie called the record labels "dinosaurs waiting to die" in an interview in the March issue of Metal Edge magazine. Zombie said that the labels "all have a defeatist attitude. And that's why in another couple of years, they won't exist...They're just overpaid and lazy, and it's all crumbled around them. But the art is not going anywhere. You go out there, and there's more tours than ever, the shows are bigger than ever, the crowds are crazier than ever, the fans are younger than ever; there's no lack of demand for the music or the bands or anything. It's just that the record labels are these overstuffed, overpaid dinosaurs. They're gonna die. The music's not going anywhere."
Zombie said in a recent conference call that he's not sure what future music distribution will look like. "There's got to be something else you can do because CDs, we know that's done," he said. "That's just done. And a download is just not that exciting. There's something missing when you — you can't walk up to someone and go, 'Oh, can you autograph my download?' There's got to be something else that can then happen. I just don't know. I mean, we're certainly trying to figure out what it is, because I want to figure out something special for the next musical release, whatever it will be."
Zombie, who is also a feature film director, also told Metal Edge, "The problem with the record industry is that they've tried to emulate the film business. The film business is very much about the opening weekend...But with a record, it used to be that you'd work it." He added that with his recent concert CD, "Zombie Live", "They put it out there, they put, like, five minutes of work into it, and they're, like, 'We're done'...They say 'No one buys CDs,'so they don't bother to sell them."
Zombie recently confirmed last week that his next live-action feature film will be called "Tyrannosaurus Rex". Reportedly a biker flick and not about dinosaurs, the film is set for release on August 28, 2009. It will follow his hit 2007 remake of the horror classic "Halloween" and his upcoming animated film, "The Haunted World of El Superbeasto".
Century Media has announced this press release:
EMBRACE THE END have returned with their sophomore album, "Ley Lines", which was produced by the acclaimed Zach Ohren (AS BLOOD RUNS BLACK, ARSONISTS GET ALL THE GIRLS) with artwork courtesy of Paul Romano (MASTODON, TRIVIUM). Once subjected to the apocalyptic abandon these Sacramento natives churn forth, it's clear they're going to be annihilating the audience and their contemporaries alike. "Ley Lines" is set for an April 15 release and the vicious new track "Denim On Denim Hate Crime" can now be streamed at the band's MySpace page and the page now features a new theme reflecting the album's cover art.
With a sound inspired by both metal and hardcore alike, EMBRACE THE END proves to be uncompromising in aggression and unmatched in their sound. Using a deft fusion of scathing blast beats amid a torrent of seismic breakdowns their musicianship is supreme and devastating. The group will join up with HEAVEN SHALL BURN and THE GHOST INSIDE for a nationwide trek this April, which will lead them immediately into a run with ANIMOSITY, FIRST BLOOD and FOR THE FALLEN DREAMS. Feel free to visit their MySpace page for their complete touring schedule.
Jesse Alford (vocals) states: "We are absolutely thrilled that this record is coming out on Century Media. The CM family has had out back for a few years now and after working our asses off by making the most boss album imaginable, it feels good. Century Media is a legendary label and we feel privileged to be a part of it. Working with Zach Ohren was the smartest choice we could have made and coupling that with the amazing artwork that Paul Romano created, is a record we can fully stand behind. Expect to see us everywhere in 2008 and we look forward to seeing you all soon."
