Bassist Andreas Blomqvist of Swedish progressive metal act Seventh Wonder posted an update on the band's Facebook page on the progress of the material for the follow up release to 2010's "The Great Escape."
The update reads: "Great fun last night! We sat down and listened through the six or so demos we have recorded to just get a feel for how everything sounded and everybody were pleasantly surprised at how good it sounded. Feels like this one will fly. We also started on a new track and made great progress. Whereas let's say 4-5 of the previous tracks were pretty much familiar territory, this new one is again something a little bit more different and it is fun and challenging to break out of your comfort zone and write new bass lines etc and I am sure the others feel the same way. Two more songs are being worked on outside the studio and bottom line is I think we are progressing according to plans!"

As most of you know we've been a band for a really long time, and we have gone through countless members for different reasons. I, and many others have put a lot of time and heart into Path to Prevail.
"I feel it is time for me to take a break and focus more on my personal life, therefore the band is taking an indefinite break. I know I can speak for the rest of the guys when I say thank you so much to everyone that has supported us over the years, attended countless shows, and made us feel at home away from our home, We love you all so much.
"I would personally like to thank everyone that has ever stood by my side on stage as a member, as a friend, and a brother. Poured their heart, sweat, and sometimes even blood into Path to Prevail, I love you all and I will always cherish our time together doing what we loved, thank you.

Avulsed is ready to hit the studios next week to record the 6th full-length in the band's career, which will be called "Ritual Zombi," which will be a conceptual work dealing with zombies. Xtreem Music comments on the pending release:
"The album will contain 9 new songs plus a cover song of Death's 'Zombie Ritual' as a tribute to the band that started it all for the real Death Metal sound (with permission from Possessed, of course!!). "Recording & production will take place in Madrid at La Casa del Ruido Studios by Dani Blanco & Avulsed during February/ March and later will be mixed in Barcelona at Moontower Studios by Javi Félez. Then it'll be finally mastered in Sweden at Unisound Studios by mastermind Dan Swanö. Cover artwork will be done by Juanjo Castellano, who did a superb work for the latest Putrevore album and this made it clear for the band that he'd be the perfect choice to conceive the most putrid transcription of the band's sound.
"'Ritual Zombi' promises to be the strongest album of the band, gathering all elements that made Avulsed's style over two decades, a respected force with thousands of diehard fans around the world, which for sure won't be disappointed with this new work, that will be another step in the band's fight to keep the true spirit of Death Metal, free of clichés, labels & trends, staying loyal to what the band has been playing since day one back in 1991, which is: DEATH METAL (in bold letters!!). As was reported yesterday, Randy Blythe from Lamb of God's manslaughter trial in the Czech Republic has now begun.
The charges of manslaughter come from a 2010 incident when a fan was allegedly pushed off the stage and subsequently died several weeks later.
Randy Blythe has also now checked in with the following comments on the trial and online reports:
I have read a few news reports of the progress of my case, and trust me - many things are incorrect. But this is the Internet, and of course things are half-baked anyway. Keep in mind that translation is difficult, and many things can be lost, for Czech is a VERY DIFFICULT language. So wait and see, as I am. It is all I can do, except be honest & fight for my freedom in my own way.
I also have heard of some people (not on here) talking smack about the Czech Republic, saying "Fuck the Czech Republic", etc. This not how it should be. This is a very sad case, not something to rage at people you do not know over. I am not angry with the Czechs at all. A fan of my band is dead - what do I have to be angry about? I am an INNOCENT man, but I am also a very sad man right now. To not be sad in this instance would be inhuman. But mad at the Czech people? Why would I be mad at them?
Here, look at this picture - a mother watches her baby. The child reaches out for something new, laughing and chasing a pretty picture in the air. It is the same here as everywhere else. Do you see?!?!? Life is beautiful. I hope to see y'all soon.
Several websites are also now reporting that the trial has been postponed and will resume next month, although nothing official has come from the band or its representatives at this point. A (Czech language) news video has also been posted online about the trial beginning, which is available below. More...

In a post on the band's Facebook page last week, Weinerhall stated:
"The Falconer is awake from slumber.
"After the darkest year yet I am once again in writing mood, and what a mood! I guess somethig good really can come out of something bad after all. After rebooting musically from a year of creative vacuum there is a fresh hunger and optimism.
"The 6 songs completed so far are harder and faster and with more of an attitude again, some of the songs sound like taken from the first album. After reading a book about deciphering and reading the language of runestones I really got some lyrical inspiration too!
"I must say that it hasn't been this rewarding and promising for many years to write for a new album, without being carried away too far.The future plan is to concentrate on writing, re-writing and rehearsing for the new album, being sure it is as good as it can and not re-using too many patterns. All songs will be in English this time.
"We are just to begin rehearsing once again after a 2 year break and I can't wait to put Mathias through some tests and find out the speed limit of Karsten.
Hails from Stefan and the falcons!!"
