Finland's Charon has issued the following update about parting ways with guitarist Pasi Sipilä:
"New decade brings changes to Charon and now it's good time to update the situation. There have been rumors among Charon fans and followers about the future of the band. Playfully it could be said that Charon was not able to escape the cold grip of ongoing recession and had to go through re-organization and layoffs.
"After taking some time out last summer we were not able to tune our engine to the needed pace for the studio sessions. We had written a bunch of new songs during the last couple of years but were not able to put them on record. After a long pondering and going through different alternatives, it was inevitable that we cannot output the next album in this mood of confusion. As a consequence guitarist Pasi Sipilä has left Charon.
"Charon will continue playing and writing songs as a quartet. At the moment we are looking forward to new working methods and finding new ways to surprise our fans and to challenge band mates with no boundaries on style or sound. We would like to thank Pasi for all his work for Charon during the years and wish him good luck with music! More...
Daemonicus has issued the following post-tour recap:
"So we finally made it home! After spending the last three weeks out on the road in Europe, we arrived safe and sound back in Umeå yesterday. So how do we sum up our very first tour? Heaven & Hell.. is a good description i suppose. We really got to experience the up's and down's of touring. But when all is said and done we had a great fucking time and we met some of the nicest people Europe has to offer. Plus we've got tons of stories. I don't even know where to start.
"The three shows we did in Romania was a lot of fun. The crowd were amazing to say the least. I felt that we were so psyched to play and have the best time ever, and we fucking did! Unfortunately Negura Bunget had to cancel some shows. Which led to the cancellation of the supporting acts as well. Then our van got broken into, and we lost all our fucking clothes and some cameras, computers, drum equipments and such. Our driver Marcus Nygren even got his passport stolen and we were forced to leave him in Greece just to be able to get back to Sofia in time to do the last gig. More...
Dark Funereal has issued the following statement about canceling their appearance at the Metalgate Festival:
"Ave to all you czech Dark Funeral fans out there! With deep regrets I have to inform you, that we have to cancel Dark Funerals appearance at the Metalgate Festival 2010.
"After the rip off with that Unholy Fest in 2009 that probably all of you know about, it's even more disappointing to be unable to give you the band you are looking for a festival show this summer. As well as the guys in Dark Funeral, I'm a man who means yes, if he says yes! Only this time I stumbled over my own feet - meaning, that I confirmed the Dark Funeral tourshow on April 4th at the Masters of Rock Café in Zlin as exclusive (!) show for Czech Republic! A few weeks after that I agreed with the Metalgate Festival on Dark Funerals appearance for 2010. In the meatime I had simply forgotten the other deal I made before...
"When the Metalgate billing was announced recently, I was reminded on our exclusive agreement by Pragokoncert, who are promoting the show in Zlin. So now I simply have no other chance than to stick to my first word. And that means, to take Dark Funeral off the bill of Metalgate 2010. I'm human. I make mistakes. Unfortunately! More...
Italian metallers Draugr have issued the following statement about allegations that their band is involved in the national socialist black metal movement:
"Dear all, recently we heard rumors speaking about us like a band involved in some nsbm movements. A repentine answer is needed! Draugr band is firmly outside from any political message of any kind, left or right winged. Lyrics, and everything about Draugr, are about Nature, our region (Abruzzo), Folklore, History and local legends, and hard drinkings too. The band (playing from years, everywhere) never had problems of any kind, especially with that, and all people we have known can speak for us.
"We were accused to be an nsbm band due to our collaboration with the underground label Christhunt Productions, that seems to be connected to some ns movement. At the time of our collaboration with the label, we didn't know these facts, and, instead, we have to be grateful to CHP because it believed us and many people know Draugr thanks to CHP. Every ns involvement of CHP is none of our business. It was said that members from Draugr are in Sturmkaiser too, and SK band is considered ns, but this is false and a complete statement about that is to be found in SK myspace page. More...

"Yeah, we are still here. Though we are almost drowned in snow here in Finland. Lately, we have been rehearsing for the gig in Helsinki. There will be - again - some new material in our setlist, and our beloved Suvi on female vocals.
"We have written new songs, which we find pretty goddamn good. Time is the crucial factor here, we should find enough time to rehearse and arrange new material so that we could enter studio to make demo versions. Then we need a record deal and so on, boring stuff... but inevitable.
"We are quite anxious to forge a new album and I bet you guys wait it like a preacher man waits for the apocalypse. But, we want it to be great with no fillers on it. Solid, catchy and strong songs. Anyway, keep your horns sharp and the scene alive!"

Austrian metallers Visions of Atlantis have issued the following update about their upcoming album:
"Hey Guys and Girls! As promised we uploaded new live pics, check them out and leave some comments. Also as promised I give you some (maybe) interesting news about our new album... The New album will be called ....... you can guess, I`m not allowed to tell you NOW, but what i can tell you is: The Album will refer to the number 'four' as it`s the fourth. And if you remember the older album titles you can see that they also referred in some ways to their number (Trinity as three, Cast Away made out of two words and EEE looking like three words, but actually being one meaning) So from now on you can guess, but no more hints from me (for now!)
"The Album will be recorded in the Dreamscape Studios in Germany again, where we also made Trinity, which was a very very good working place for us. The Producers there exactly know how to bring out the best of our work and we enjoy working together with such nice guys... Mix and Mastering is still a secret, but you can believe us that we`ll give it in best possible hands. More...

Burzum, the infamous one man black metal band formed by Varg Vikernes, has posted short samples of his new album, "Belus" online. You can catch a preview of each song by heading to Amazon.com.
Speaking on the album, Vikernes stated: "Inspiration for the album has come from a variety of sources, and I find my inspiration from fairy tales and myths, from classical music from memories of what once was, from traditional music, from fantasy, from the wind and weather, from deep forests and running water, from the sky and the sunset, from misty mountains and from yellow leaves falling from age old trees.
"My ambition with Belus is to create something I - and hopefully others too - can listen to for years and years to come without ever growing tired of it, and at the same time to share with my audience the experience of getting to know Belus, as he might have been perceived by the ancient Europeans.
"The combination of lyrics and music makes this a fairy tale different from most others, and should appeal to all those who like transcendental music and love to see different things from a different perspective.
"If I can make you dream when listening to this album, I believe I have done a good job."
Three former members of British thrash metal veterans Xentrix, singer Simon Gordon, drummer Den Gasser and guitarist Kristian Havard, have formed a brand new metal band named Hellfighter. The band also recently signed a record deal with Heavy Metal Records, through which they will release their debut album around late Spring/Summer time. Simon Gordon states:
"We're delighted to be working with such an established British label. We've known Paul Birch (Managing Director, Revolver Records and Heavy Metal Records) for ten years or so, since the Xentrix days, so it was natural for us to speak to him about Hellfighter. We're looking forward to a successful partnership."
MD Paul Birch added: "Hellfighter are in the studio at the moment and the album is sounding killer, with strong elements of the thrash sound but also some of their wider influences thrown in. We're pleased to be bringing Hellfighter to a wider audience. The album is a priority release for us in 2010, and with Heavy Metal Records celebrating its 30th year we're confident Hellfighter will help to make it a memorable one for the label."

American doom metal legends Saint Vitus has begun writing material for a new studio album, according to frontman Scott "Wino" Weinrich. In a recent interview with KTYU he was asked:
KTVU.com Any chance we’ll hear new material at this show or will you wait until its already in the can?
Weinrich: We really haven’t had all that much time to get together and do that. Vitus has a lot of material. We’ll play the gamut of stuff. People seem like right now they want to hear the older stuff. And since it’s been so long since we’ve played there, I think we’ll probably just be playing stuff from our catalog. But I think very soon, probably next year at this time, we should probably have some new stuff.

Booking for the compilation is VERY limited, the disc will be 60 minutes in length, and this release may or may not be released on a limited edition LP of 500 copies after the cd press is sold out (which may be repressed). The cost of mixing and mastering, promotion and advertising, and international distribution will be covered by the company on behalf of the bands and each willing participant to contribute towards the release will receive copies of each pressing produced. One song the label is looking to have covered is "Where Is Your God" by Infernal Majesty. If any bands believe they have the ability to perform an outstanding version of this song, get in touch immediately.
Bands who are interested to co-operation on this release, please contact the label to let them know which song you wish to record and contribute.
