Portland, OR's Across The Sun has checked in with the following recap of recent activity and announcement about lineup changes:
"Hey everyone! We've been promising you an update on the band as well as the status of our upcoming album. The last year has been a crazy one, so here it goes!
"Since the release of our album, Before The Night Takes Us, Across The Sun has been, not unlike many other bands, experiencing our fair share of ups and downs. During our tour with Attila and Our Last Night, our keyboardist and good friend, Shane Murray, announced to us that he would be leaving the band. We were sad to see him go, but understanding of his reasons for such a decision. We redeveloped our live show and began playing to a metronome and live keyboard tracks to compensate for Shane's absence and to ensure that our live sound is as sharp as ever.
"Earlier last year, the band made yet another lineup adjustment when we parted ways with our former vocalist, Brandon Davis. Brandon is a talented vocalist, and solid performer, however, his time with the band ended duplicitously. Sam, John and I felt it would be best that we replace Brandon with someone who is dedicated to his craft, honest in his dealings with the band, and passionate about the music that ATS creates.
"Replacing Brandon, is our close friend, and accomplished vocalist, Marty Wormley. Marty has completely improved the way that we write as a band, and we cannot wait to share these amazing tracks with all of you. Nearly half of the album is written, and we hope to start tracking this Spring or Summer.
"We sincerely feel that the band is as strong as ever, and we know that this next album will prove that."

Every week Metalunderground.com checks in with rock and metal acts from across the world to find their best mosh pit stories.
Vocalist Bryce Lucien of Texas act Seeker today shares a story of an out-of-control Daughters show (Daughters being no stranger to live antics). Bryce tells the following tale:
There are very few pits that have stuck with me. Years on the road have left me desensitized to most of the ridiculous happenings at shows, but there is one experience that was so extreme in its GG Allen-esque awesomeness and so relentless in its lack of fucks given that it will forever be seared into my memory...
This was 8 or 9 years ago now... Daughters and An Albatross were in town and me, being the total grind fanatic that I am, was obviously beside myself with excitement. I got to the show early, made sure I was front and center, and prepared myself for what I was sure would be the most wonderfully abrasive and debauched show that I had ever attended. After suffering through two despicably awful locals, Daughters finally took the stage and began sound checking. Their singer was nowhere to be seen. The band yelled for him over the PA and minutes later he finally walks onstage, scowling, glossy eyed, beer in hand... he was so fucking cool. The band launched into their first song and the crowd exploded. I was shoved into the stage, punched, jumped on, and I didn't care. I loved it.
However, through all the mayhem I noticed that their singer wasn't singing any of the words and there was a gagging sound coming through the speakers so I looked over and realize that he is standing on the lip of the stage, deep throating the mic, and flipping off the crowd. He then pulls the mic out of his mouth and projectile vomits all over the stage. As he does this I feel a pair of shoes connect with the back of my head. I turn around and see the crowd surfing girl momentarily get sucked back into the sea of arms before being thrown at me again. I duck and the singer of Daughters grabs her left shoe, rips it off, pours his beer into it, chugs it, throws the shoe back into the crowd, falls off the stage, and finally screams his first line...
This all happened in less than 2 minutes. The rest of their 10 minute set was just as insane. This is probably a really horrible reflection on me, but that night totally solidified my love for this lifestyle and my desire to tour...oh well. Fuck it.

Gaytheist, the band that About.com called “the musical version of Shark Week” and the Portland Mercury deemed “capable of leveling a city block,” is downright thrilled to announce the group will be heading out on a short tour in support of third LP (and first for Good To Die Records) "Stealth Beats."
The band will be venturing from its homebase of Portland, Oregon down to Albuquerque, New Mexico and back, leveling the Western states with a hyper-charged musical attack and leader Jason Rivera’s pithy, political, and pansied lyrics.

Transcendental drone/rock outfit Darsombra will take its sprawling audio/visual live act on the road next week for the twelve city "Southern US Wintour" 2013.
Touring in support of the "Climax Community" LP, released in October via Germany’s eclectic Exile On Mainstream, the Wintour 2013 is set to embark on February 15th, with shows confirmed throughout Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas and Tennessee.
Decibel Magazine is streaming "Climax Community" in its entirety at this location. The following press release was issued about the album:
"The three tracks on the LP traversing forty-five minutes of the outfit’s unique, slow-building, organic transcendental rock. Brian Daniloski, a veteran of heavier, sludgier, grittier rock bands such as Meatjack and Trephine, controls the sound of Darsombra, alternating between mammoth vocal swells and soundscapes and searing guitar riffs, leads, loops, and samples, combining elements of metal, psychedelic rock, experimental/drone, prog and krautrock. But there is more than just Daniloski’s sonic world at play here as video artist Ann Everton takes his work to the next level by bringing her Darsombra-induced visions to the stage through her kinetic psychotropic video projections, creating a constantly shifting backdrop to Daniloski’s live performances." British rockers Voodoo Six are excited to announce they will release new album "Songs To Invade Countries To" worldwide on April 29th via Universal Music, before embarking on the biggest tour of their career so far as main support to metal legends Iron Maiden on European dates. Prior to their dates with Iron Maiden, Voodoo Six will also be heading out on a run of headline U.K. club shows throughout March and April. Full details are available after the jump.
Iron Maiden founder and bassist Steve Harris comments: "I've been keeping an eye on Voodoo Six for a while now and they've produced a cracking new album with real promise. It's great to support true British up and coming talent such as theirs and it'll be a pleasure to have them out with us on tour."
Voodoo Six vocalist Luke Purdie adds: “This is a huge deal for us and an amazing opportunity to support arguably the most iconic band in metal history. We came up with the album title ‘Songs To Invade Countries To’ ages ago since we’ve been wanting to get our music across to European shores for a long time - but it’s been made a reality now that we’ve been chosen to support Iron Maiden on these dates. It’s going to be a very exciting year!”
"Songs To Invade Countries To" will consist of 11 tracks mixed by Tony Newton & Pedro Ferreira (The Darkness, Enter Shikari, Therapy?) and mastered by Ade Emsley (Iron Maiden, Steve Harris). Arizona death metallers Lago have just released a new demo entitled "Tyranny." This new demo is the follow up to the band's 2010 debut EP "Marianas," which was released on Pale Horse Recordings.
"Tyranny" consists of two songs and is a taste of the more matured, brutal, and calculating death metal compared to the "Marianas" EP. The main driving force behind Lago, Cole Jacobsen and Andrew Breshears, comment:
"Tyranny is just the next step in what Lago wants to achieve. It's a very focused, in your face, balls to the wall style of old school death metal. There is no over the top 'I bet you can't play this' riffing going on that will lose you. We're still doing what we do best. The harsh in your face death metal approach combined with a dark black metal melody. It's our goal to make sure every song has a life and a story of its own. Lago now has a strong and steady line up ready to put out our debut LP, to deliver our music up close and personal to death metal fans everywhere."
Check out the tracks below. The "Tyranny" demo was recorded at Arcane Digital Recordings (Exhumed, Phobia, Landmine Marathon) in November of 2012. Lago will be hitting the studio in late Spring to record a debut full length. More...
The driving forces around acts Artension and successor Angel of Eden: guitarist Roger Staffelbach, keyboardist Mistheria (Angel Of Eden/Rob Rock/Tommy Vitaly) and vocalist John West (Artension/Emir Hot/Ex-Royal Hunt) have joined forces to form the new band Artlantica. Joining them are drummers Dani Löble (Helloween) and John Macaluso (Malmsteen/TNT/Ark) along with former Artension member and bass Icon Steve DiGiorgio (Sadus/Testament) and guest guitarist Chris Caffery (Savatage/Trans-Siberian Orchestra). The band is set to release the debut LP "Across the Seven Seas" in the USA on May 21st, in Germany on May 24th and in Europe on May 27th as CD and download (incl. 1 bonus track).
"Great vocal melodies with anthemic potential, virtuoso guitar and keyboardpassages including spectacular solos, in addition to a blistering rhythm section which gives the songs their pace, groove and dynamics: the very ingredients which guaranteed seven brilliant releases in ten years from the American-Swiss cult act Artension and caused a global stir on 'The End Of Never', the only album by Artensions successor Angel Of Eden."
Staffelbach describes the result as...:"powerful, heavy occasionally majestic, grooving, melodious and timeless. Each instrument has its place, none of them sounds too dominant, everything has only one purpose, to serve the song."
The album consists of ten tracks and was mixed and mastered at Tommy Newton's (Helloween, Gamma Ray, among others) Area 51 studios. More...

After recently signing with WormHoleDeath, Libria has now unveiled the cover artwork for debut album "Immortal Daughter Of Aesthetics." Check out the art below. Band mastermind Marianna Alfieri stated:
“Immortal Daughter of Aesthetics cover artwork shows a decisive scene during the after-death experience of a soul. In a futuristic scenery, the three lifts in a dark blue hall symbolize the paths disclosing to a soul at the end of a long and distressing journey begun soon after its death. According to an ancient esoteric tradition, this is called 'the Particular Judgement,' when the destination is established among Heaven, Purgatory, Hell and Earth. Since the cover and the whole concept of the album have symbolic references to the experience of a specific person, Hell is not considered. ” More...

Nuclear Blast Records is more than happy to announce the signing of Germany’s authentic and passionate psychedelic hard rock act - Kadavar. The label comments:
"It was already with 2012’s eponymous debut album 'Kadavar' that the three-piece from Berlin casted a spell on all fans of solid riff-driven yet doom-like 70’s hard rock à la Black Sabbath or Pentagram.
"Marrying this with the spacy psychedelic approach of early Hawkwind and mixing in a distinct own touch while preserving their icon’s warm vintage charm can doubtlessly be considered the trio’s key to success – astoundingly high vinyl sales and support shows for bands such as Sleep, Saint Vitus, Pentagram, and Electric Wizard well as stunning festival gigs at Stoned From The Underground, Yellowstock, and Fusion Festival, among others, underline Kadavar's status as one of the scene’s most exciting acts to watch in 2013!"
Nuclear Blast’s Head of A&R Andy Siry comments on the signing: “We’re delighted to bid Kadavar welcome to the Nuclear Blast family! It was with great interest that we’ve watched their first steps from the founding of the band to the release of their debut record. Eventually, the last-mentioned tipped the balance and led us to offering them a record deal, as we truly believe that these three gentlemen are masters of their craft and can righteously be considered the leaders of the German occult rock movement. We’re looking forward a lot to seeing what the future will bring for Kadavar!”
Regarding the signing with the Swabian label, drummer Tiger states with a wink: “Even though the relationship between people from Berlin and Swabians is usually considered rather… uneasy, we’re taking the first step to reconciliation: We’re very happy that our second studio album will be released via Nuclear Blast, who can look back on an impressive history. After an eventful year, we’ve locked ourselves up in the studio for the past two months in order to work on said record. The result elates us – we can’t wait ‘til the release date has finally come!” More...
