This song was already all of ours personal favorite during the final stages of writing 'The Collective.' We felt this song was a great first release since it has a little of everything; melodic, aggression, great solos, clean jazzy vibe, and a very chill outro. Hope a lot of you out there really enjoy it and that it gets you guys even more excited for the release of 'The Collective!'"

It was reported last week that Vince Neil (Motley Crue) owes 1 million dollars in taxes. He has since denied this report, but I’m assuming one of his many business ventures will cover the expense if needed. If not, expect a hat to circulate the crowd during this year’s Crue Fest…
Bret Michaels (Poison) continues to recover from heart surgery. The surgery was originally to fix a hole in his heart, but turned into a much larger procedure when they found an actual VH1 cameraman wrapped around his aortic valve…
Warrant has hit a new milestone with allowing their ballad “Heaven”, to be used in a commercial by the laundry detergent, Gain. Given eighties rockers seem to resonate with the forty something MILF (and non-MILF) crowds could we be seeing the start of something new? How about Skid Row’s “I Remember You” for PMS medication for that special time of the month? For men, well I can’t think of a better song than Def Leppard’s “Rocket” to sell penis enlargement products. Public service announcements for STD prevention? Motley Crue’s “Red Hot” works, of course, “I Remember You” may also work here as well… More...

Original Trouble drummer and Retro Grave mainman Jeff "Oly" Olson recently conducted an interview with Brooklyn Militia drummer Joe Cangelsoi (Ex-Whiplash, Kreator) for the "Heady Metal With Jeff Olson" radio show. The two part podcast is now available in its entirety at this location. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.
Cangelosi on recent departure of Whiplash:
"I'm happy I've got a band (Brooklyn Militia) together now. You know I've put so much work into Whiplash and I want to thank all the fans out there. I've met a lot of contacts and so many cool people everywhere. I'll never forget it.
"I'm just going to continue on with my own thing, but it (Whiplash) was a strange situation. From out of the blue I got a call from Tony (Portaro) saying that he's getting Scaglione back in the band. There was no falling out or anything... I figure it's not my choice. Whatever. I'm shocked, but whatever. I see now that Scaglione is out of the band..."
Cangelosi on new band Brooklyn Militia:
"Brooklyn Mitilia was formed about maybe eight months ago and this was at the time that me and Rich Day were still in Whiplash. There were some personal things going on in the band where we couldn't play and we had to wait. Basically, me and Richie were left waiting around and we're like, let's keep playing and do something...
"We hooked up with Paul Bento. Paul is from Carnivore. He's a killer musician. He plays sitar fluently and he did some sitar and guitar work on some of the Type O Negative records... The last Whiplash record was called 'Unborn Again' and we did a Montrose cover called 'Ive Got The Fire' and Paul use to come up on stage and play that with us. We then started writing songs together... so that's how we met and how Brooklyn Militia happened. Now we're in it to win it."

Believer has issued the following comments about the band's upcoming album, which is set to be released through Metal Blade Records:
"We're pleased to announce that mixing and mastering for the upcoming album is complete. We decided early on in project that we wanted an outside person to mix the record so we could spend more time writing and recording. Kevin Leaman (Believer guitarist) recommended Kevin Gutierrez from Assembly Line Studios for mixing this record. Leaman had worked with Gutierrez previously and said that he was really easy to work with. From the first telephone conversation it was clear that Gutierrez understood exactly what we were looking for sonically and he seemed really interested in helping us achieve that.
"We let Kevin know we wanted this album to sound very musical; not just be heavy. We wanted to use the whole frequency range and not have all the mids scooped out so that everything going on in the tunes was audible. Most importantly, we wanted to keep the dynamics. We were a little nervous about not being there physically for the mix, but we spent so much time tweaking in the sounds for tracking that we were confident he had good stuff to work with. The rough mixes we made for ourselves already sounded pretty decent.
"Kevin was fast and efficient. He'd send us reference mixes as he completed each song and we'd be emailing/texting comments back and forth at all hours of the day and night. He was very responsive to our change requests and was really helpful in setting up the mastering session and communicating what we wanted to Maor Appelbaum of Maor Appelbaum Mastering. More...

"Ave! First of all, I would like to thank all the people who wrote to us the last month, thanks for your support and dedication! As many of you have noticed, our website is down for the last days and there has been not so many news or activity through this MS profile. The reason is simple, we are facing some problems with our provider and as far as Myspace is concerned, well, since the interface was changed more and more people are leaving MS for obvious reasons!!
"As far as Enthroned is concerned, we are at the moment very busy writing new material and also with the recording studio. Many bands are showing up, which is a good thing, Phorgath and Neraath are as well currently recording the new album of Emptiness and I'm also spending some time working on some artworks for several bands.

"After their appearance at the W:O:A, their guitarist George P. departed from the band. This was the moment when they realized, that the the situation has passed to a higher, more professional level.
"The pre-production of the debut album was done by the very same members of the band in the studio that Insidead own, a studio where they are currently composing new, fresh material for the next album.
"The recordings were done in the summer of 2009 at Encore/In The Core media studio by Labyss Kastanas while the mixing and mastering was completed by R.D. Liapakis (Mystic Prophecy, Suicidal Angels, Eldritch) and Christian at Prophecy and Music Factory Studio in the winter of 2009/2010. The art design of the album was made by Meran Karanitant who has worked with great bands in the metal industry such as Hatebreed, Six Feet Under, Mystic Prophecy and many others. L.A. based act Bitch (led by front woman Betsy Bitch) will do a short tour of 3 countries in Europe this spring, culminating in the band's featured appearance at Germany’s Keep It True Festival on April 29th, 2011. Anger As Art will support as both warm-up act on a few dates, and as Betsy’s backing band in Bitch (Anger As Art will not be performing at the Keep It True festival).
"Planning this tour has been bitter-sweet" says Betsy. "We lost our drummer/founding member Robby Settles to Leukemia last year, and it took the wind out of our sails. We already had KIT booked before Robby passed, and other members were less than enthused about going over to play the show. When I spoke with our bassist Steve Gaines, he had just played Keep It True with Abattoir in 2009, and was adamant that it was an opportunity that shouldn’t be missed. Steve offered that if we couldn’t find anyone to fill in that Anger As Art would be honored to perform as Bitch. The rest is history."
Says Steve Gaines: “Bitch was a huge influence on me, and I have been honored to be a member for the past 5 years. Needless to say, this has been a very hard time with Robby’s passing. However, I can say that there are no better guys to ‘be’ Bitch than AAA. We all used to see each other at Bitch shows in LA back in the 80’s, and respect Betsy and their heritage – and that is what we plan to do. Give metal fans in Europe Bitch in full effect.”
Also on the tour package will be Netherlands based metal band Persistense. The dates are as follows:
Friday 22 April: Little Devil, Tilburg - Holland
Saturday 23 April: The Rambler, Eindhoven – Holland

They called me to take part in this show in my home town city, São Paulo! It’s clear that I immediately said 'yes!' We are talking about Kamelot! One of my favorites metal bands ever! For those who don’t know, Casey recorded the drum parts for the first Almah’s CD in 2006 and since then we have become friends even more. And especially due to this fact I will do my best in order to give to all Kamelot fans an unforgettable night! I’ll put my heart on it! See you there soon!"
Kamelot's Thomas Youngblood also added:
"I am very pleased to have our good buddy Edu Falaschi (Angra, Almah) joining us on stage at the São Paulo concert this April 9th! We ran into each other recently in LA and that’s when the idea to sing with us in Brazil came about. It will be a night to remember!"

Absentia Lunae will be heading out on a European tour later this month with Glorior Belli. The band has now issued the following announcement about being banned from playing in Frankfurt at the Welt in Trümmern festival:
"We’ve been banned from Frankfurt due to the threats received by the organizer of the Welt in Trümmern festival (the closing date of our European tour together with Glorior Belli, Horned Almighty and The One) by antifas. The German Police warned by antifas and Frankfurt’s city council has been forced to issue a ban against us.
"Not respecting the ban would mean the cancellation of the festival. As a matter of respect towards our tour comrades and people attending the show we accept the situation as it is, we will be there but the won’t play. Usually to this kind of news would follow one of those statements that a lot of bands/labels/organizers/individuals issue to try to get rid of those ignorant rioters that antifas are.
"If you’re expecting this from us then make yourself comfortable, since you’re going to wait forever. We feel that we do NOT have to say sorry to or justify ourself with anyone. The contents of our music (both visually and lyrically) are public and anybody with a working brain can understand what Absentia Lunae are about. We lack the capabilities, time and interest to remedy to some short brained individuals with self-evident reading/understanding problems.
"From our side we take this with irony since it’s quite funny to see how antifas work very well together with the establishment that they want us to believe they’re against. They’re the most zealous political police of a status quo we consider the enemy. Nothing more than conservative puppets. More...
