Tracking the guitars was such a blast, as I plugged in my white-and-black Charvel, my trusty ol' MXR Phase 90 and went right into my cranked-up Marshall JCM800, entering that EVH zone and giving my all to pay tribute to one of the greatest rock guitarists ever! We had a great time with Mike Portnoy's idea to insert a medley of kick-ass VH parts in the mid-section while going into a great treat before we head back to the final chorus!”

"It's finally up after 6 months of burden, thanks for the patience and we hope it was worth the wait. CD's are priced at £5 or more, digital download is free/pay as you desire. Apologies about the shipping, Royal Mail have us by the throats.
"Major thanks to everybody who has supported us so far and especially to those of you who have bought any of our previous releases/music and came to see us at shows and to those we have already expressed gratitude to in the CD's. We'll get these shipped out mid/end of next week. All of the money we receive from our releases, including Outlier, will go towards tour efforts which we are slowly progressing with and on album expenses.
"Just so you know, Outlier is an EP, not an album and right now we have a handful of rough album demos which we're continuing to push ourselves with. If you have the time, pass this on to at least one person who you think might enjoy it. We won't be keeping quiet about this album; it will be a ferocious concoction of noise and unlike anything we have done up until now. We hope to cross paths soon. Now let your friends hear the doom."

1. Parasite 05:25
2. Trismus 03:27
3. Neverbeen 01:34

"His live baptism with The March will be on 'The Rotten Amplitude' with Forgotten Tomb on May 8th. Before that, however, we will record our new album... Needless to say that we are looking forward to the coming months with excitement - as a 5 piece once again!"

Arbogast is gearing up for a string of live actions in March and April. The following press release was issued about the impending tour dates:
"Chicago-based Arbogast’s off-kilter but seamless hybrid of extreme musical styles infiltrated the media at the turn of the year by way of a crushing debut album, simply entitled I. The trio’s slamming hooks and percussion are also fueled by sturdy societal and political standpoints.
"Following regional shows in support of the album over recent weeks, and while currently working on new videos to be released in the coming weeks, Arbogast is actively setting up shows in their hometown and abroad. Having just confirmed a new set of dates on the East Coast this Spring, the outfit will take their chaotic, genresmashing tunes to new audiences throughout the Northeastern corner of the country in early April.
"In the meantime new Chicago shows are also confirmed; the band will share the stage with Behold... The Arctopus and Murmur in mid-March, and will also storm The Burlington with Guzzlemug and Arctic Sleep tonight, Thursday, February 28th." More...

The musician collective known as Blood & Banjos is announcing the release of a full-length story
album, slated for the first quarter of 2014. The project has now launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds needed to produce the album. The campaign will run from February 28th until March 31st and can be found right here.
Blood & Banjos advances a unique genre of music called Blackgrass: a mash-up of musical
genres largely inspired by bluegrass and black metal. The project consists of over a dozen artists from across the United States and Germany. Instrumentation includes guitars (acoustic and electric), fiddle, mandolin, banjo, cello, percussion, and seven male and female vocalists. Enabled by Soundcloud, Skype, and Google Sites, the album writing process has consisted predominantly of remote online collaborations amongst the contributing musicians.
Blood & Banjos creator Mike Lindsay and many of the project’s contributors share common roots
in Michigan. In conceiving of the album’s story, Lindsay was inspired by a Northern Michigan legend of an ill-fated family doomed by its deranged patriarch. For the project, this legend was appropriately adjusted to unfold in the heart of Appalachia, a nod to the project’s bluegrass influence.
The story features the blighted Abram Stone, a once innocent mason who is consumed by the delusion that everyone around him, including his own family, is possessed by evil. In his poisoned mind, he and his 5-string banjo must prevent the coming of the Anti-Christ and the subsequent apocalypse. Accounts of murder, lynch mobs, and undead love are set adeptly to banjo plucking, 3-part harmonies, and shredding electric guitars. More...

Nuclear Blast is pleased to announce the newest addition to its ever growing label roster: Anti-Mortem. The label issued the following statement:
"Formed in 2008 and fronted by vocalist Larado Romo, Anti-Mortem’s line-up includes older brother-guitarist Nevada Romo, guitarist Zain Smith, bassist Corey Henderson and drummer Levi Dickerson. With over 300 shows to their name, these Chickasha, Oklahoma natives (aged between 18 & 22) spent their formative nights and weekends woodshedding their sound on the concert stage they built themselves in the Smith family barn (originally intended to store an old car collection).
"While Zain’s parents were away working on the weekends, Anti-Mortem would turn their barn rehearsal space into a makeshift venue and hone their chops by inviting friends and family in Chickasha over for an afternoon of gravel-throated vocals, crunch-laden riffs, thick grooves, and some good ol’-fashioned Southern hospitality." After the release of 2011’s "Break the Silence" (reviewed here) and the headlining tour which saw the band play in seven European countries, the world's only a Cappella metal band Van Canto have been dormant a while, but have now renewed their record contract with Napalm Records for the upcoming fifth release. In the interim time, band members have worked on numerous side projects – including Stef Schmidt's new Power Metal band Heavatar. The band is set to return in 2013 with a studio album targeted for the fall/winter.
Schmidt commented: "To take a break for a full year was quite odd for us. Maybe there are bands that are satisfied with releasing an album every 5 years, but for us it felt quite unnatural to stay away from the stage for a full year. We have checked out new things, and are now more eager than ever to return with Van Canto. We are happy that Napalm Records will be the partner for our fifth album. The album will be the most heroic, heaviest and most symphonic album in our discography, and we cannot wait to enter the studio. Rakkatakka Motherfuckers!"
Napalm Records A&R rep Nadir commented:
"Van Canto s innovative, unique and polarizing – that’s the best thing that can happen to a label. You must not let a band like this go, and that’s why we are proud that Van Canto continue to work with us. Together, we will shake the foundations of the Metal world!"
