Candiria have finished recording a good portion of their upcoming album, which they hope to release this summer. Here's an update from the band:
"It's been brought to my attention that we really haven't made any real attempt on getting concise info out about what we have been up to since the new year has begun. So here goes. This should give you a bit of an idea.
We started out writing new material in Jupiter 4 Studios during the first few weeks of January. Jupiter 4 is the studio owned and run by Ken Schalk and his brother Steve Schalk. We used the time there to write as much music as we could come up with. We then tracked drums there to about 16 different songs/peices of music. We also used this time after the drums were tracked to work out vocal ideas and let Carley do scratch tracks.
From there we took the recorded drums and went to see our old friend Mike Barile over at Purple Light Studios. We have always loved working with Mike and we new that we were going to get the sounds we wanted if we recorded with him. The combination of his gear and the gear we own is just phenomenal for what we are trying to accomplish.
We spent the next few weeks recording all of the bass and guitar tracks. Then allowed Carley some more time to work on more vocal ideas and lay down some more scratch tracks to see where we was at with all of the songs.
And that friends is where we are at today. We move on to the real vocal sessions in a week or so. And from there we are in the home stretch. I think there is a great chance of this record seeing an early summer release."
Boston thrashers CANNAE have teamed up with sponsors Unrestrained! Magazine and Galy Records to headline a string of shows throughout Canada. Dubbed the "Storming The Border" tour, CANNAE will be joined by Canadian bands BLOODSHOTEYE and 3 Mile Scream on the 15-date tour of cities throughout the provinces of Ontario and Quebec.
"We're looking forward to playing Canada again, ever since the last time we were there with God Forbid and Sworn Enemy," CANNAE drummer Colin Conway says. "It was only a short amount of time we spent in the western section of Canada, but the shows were nothing short of amazing. We have always had a great time playing in Canada, and we're hoping that these upcoming shows will be no exception in spreading the word of Cannae throughout the Great White North."
Before crossing the boarder, CANNAE will play with The Red Death in Rochester, NY. The conclusion of the "Storming The Border" tour will coincide with the band's appearance at the third Sherbrooke Metalfest, alongside Canadian natives Neuraxis and Buried Inside. CANNAE is continuing to support last year's Gold Becomes Sacrifice (Prosthetic Records).

Upon first listen, the experimental thrash metal approach of Space Coast, Florida's, Perdiem, may throw off the usual crowd that're brainwashed into appreciating only the standard blast beat, scream your guts out formula that most new metal bands use to be accepted. I was immediately intrigued by what Perdiem was doing and I'm glad to be able to open others eyes to this growing underground heavy music talent. More...
Crossover Flamenco-metalers have posted a new music video on Flametal.com. Three new songs from Benjamin Woods' flamenco guitar album "bedroom sessions" have been posted on the site as well (free mp3s).

Baltimore based hard rock veterans Dog Fashion Disco, have announced their CD release party for their new album, Adultery, March 31st, 2006 at the Recher Theatre in Towson, MD at 9pm.
The CD release party will celebrate the release of the band’s new album Adultery, which is due for release on April 4th, 2006 on Los Angeles based Rotten Records. Adultery is Dog Fashion Disco’s third album of metal, hardcore, jazz and lounge fusion. The album is the first time the band has attempted to create a concept record that takes listeners on a journey through one man’s self-destruction. The album plays like a movie with Dog Fashion Disco playing the soundtrack to one man’s demented journey.
“Adultery is about this seemingly normal guy in his mid- 30's, with a wife, kids and a good job. He starts to flirt with drugs, prostitutes and eventually gives in to his dark desires and sadistic and murderous lifestyle. This record is this guy’s life spiraling out of control into a demented and dark place,” says Dog Fashion Disco frontman Todd Smith about the concept behind his band’s latest offering. “There are so many twists and turns on this record it’s more like listening to a movie at times, but the song structure still remains.”
Recorded in the bowels of Baltimore with producer Steven Wright (Jimmie’s Chicken Shack, SR-71), Adultery is a well calculated exercise in musical fusion. "This record doesn’t follow any formula for style or genre. The record goes from jazz to metal and Ska to R&B and country,” says keyboardist Jeff Siegel. “It’s a way for us to keep the element of surprise there in every song. All the bands we love experiment to some extent."
Blood & Ink Records has announced the signing of WITH BLOOD COMES CLEANSING to their roster. Calling Albany, Georgia home, the band's well-crafted metallic sound and powerful vocal presence have helped them to gain notoriety throughout their area and elsewhere in the country. WITH BLOOD COMES CLEANSING are currently on tour alongside Pluto Records' IMPERIAL and will be doing dates in late February/March with Solid State Records' BECOMING THE ARCHETYPE, as well as appearing at Blood & Ink Fest in Virginia Beach, VA.
WITH BLOOD COMES CLEANSING plan to enter Planet Red Studios (BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, WINTER SOLSTICE, SCARLET) later in the year to record their debut album for Blood & Ink Records. In the meantime, songs from the band's demo can be heard on their MySpace page.
Mortiis will be featured on an episode of the Norwegian television show "Lydverket" on Wednesday, March 1. The subject of the program is masks and images in rock music and Mortiis' prosthetic-enhanced frontman made the band an obvious choice for the program. Noted for his unique image, the frontman of the same name began wearing a full mask in 1994 as part of the full Mortiis concept. "Lydverket" captures Mortiis years later as the concept has evolved and Mortiis has begun removing the mask during live shows.
The "Lydverket" crew followed Mortiis for nine months, filming and interviewing the band numerous times on tour in England and Norway and at photo shoots. "Lydverket" (Norwegian for "soundworks") is Norway's biggest and most respected music program with an average of 150,000 viewers and airs on the country's largest channel. The episode will also include Slipknot, KISS' first manager Bill Aucoin, and Alice Cooper, among others.
This episode of "Lydverket" will first air on NRK1 on Wednesday, March 1 at 23.10 (11:10 p.m.) and will re-play on NRK2 Sunday, March 5.
Mortiis is currently working on new material. A follow up to last year's "The Grudge" is planned for this year.
The band is also set for a debut homeland single release when a special version of "DECADENT AND DESPERATE" is released. Taken from the seminal 'THE GRUDGE' album, "DECADENT AND DESPERATE" is released in Norway on Earache on March 6, 2006.
"DECADENT AND DESPERATE" comes in three formats, all including exclusive non-album tracks. Both 7" versions feature artwork including two poster sleeves and the CD contains one post-Grudge song "UNDERDOG".

Now in it's 14th year, the Big Day Out is Australia's largest one-day music festival, travelling to five major cities in Australia as well as Auckland, New Zealand. While previous years have seen big-name metal acts included in the lineup such as Slipknot, Metallica, Hatebreed, and Soulfly, the 2006 bill was a little lighter in tone with Iggy and the Stooges, The White Stripes, Franz Ferdinand and Kings of Leon topping the list of 30-odd bands. Feb 17th, 2006 – Ft Wayne, IN – Pieres Nightclub
Well the night didn’t start out good. Besides being late and missing Halestorm and some asshole bumping into me and knocking my camera to the ground and breaking it (The reason why I didn’t photograph Seether), the night wasn’t that bad considering all I endured.
So I did miss Halestorm, although I did have the pleasure of seeing/photographing them in Detroit on Dec 17th, 2005 in Detroit. Great band with lots of potential. Look for them in your Neighborhood. More...

Arlington Heights, Illinois-based death metallers ENFORSAKEN have uploaded their cover of the PANTERA classic "Mouth for War" on their MySpace page. "This cover was supposed to appear on a Dimebag tribute album, but the tribute never happened," the band write in a statement. "This cover is raw, dirty and unpolished...just the way we like it!
