New Jersey power/progressive band Symphony X just announced that drummer Jason Rullo was admitted to the hospital for heart failure. He was released has underwent a rehab program that will see him out of action for 3-6 months.
The official announcement reads: "World Management and Symphony X must unfortunately announce that last week, Jason Rullo was admitted to the hospital for heart failure. Jason spent a week in the hospital, and was released last week; he has started a rehab program, and has been told that his recovery will take a minimum of 3-6 months under doctors’ care. We are all hopeful that J will be back soon!"
Rullo commented “I would just like to say that I am happy to be home with my family after what was quite a week. We had a few scary days in there but I made it through what was hopefully the worst of it.
"Doctors say I have a very good chance for a full recovery so I plan to be back at 100% even if it takes awhile. I will go through cardiac rehab so I can be monitored while returning to form, so that I’ll know when it’s safe for me to return to drumming the way I always have, if not better.
Thanks to my friends and family for the support, and to the fans, I love you all! - JR"
Speaking exclusively to Terrorizer magazine, British extreme metal legends Carcass have revealed that their new album title will be "Surgical Steel." This will be their first album since 1996's, "Swansong" and the first not to feature drummer, Ken Owen, whose place will be taken by Trigger the Bloodshed skinsman Daniel Wilding.
Guitarist Bill Steer told Terrorizer: "I found myself playing riffs that sounded like Carcass. This was after the band had finished the whole reunion cycle of shows and festivals. So officially I would have been playing with other bands and stuff, but for some reason whenever I picked up a guitar at home I was coming up with riffs that sounded like Carcass.
"I got on the phone to Jeff [Walker, bass/vocals] and said, ‘We could have a crack at writing a couple of tunes and seeing if they’re strong enough and take it from there’. We also agreed, if it didn’t sound like Carcass or have that kind of vibe to it, we would just drop it. So that was the thing, we got together and started working on some stuff and just immediately got the excitement back very quickly."
The album will contain fifteen tracks, and while the final tracklisting has yet to be confirmed, the names of the recorded songs are as follows:
"The Master Butcher’s Apron"
"The Granulating Dark Satanic Mills"
"A Congealed Clot Of Blood"
"A Wraith In The Apparatus"
"316l Grade Surgical Steel"
"Cadaver Pouch Conveyor System"
"Captive Bolt Pistol"
"Intensive Battery Brooding"
"None Compliance To Astm F899-12 Standard"
"Mount Of Execution"
"Unfit For Human Consumption"

Destroyer shares his take on over-produced metal ("We were looking for a really raw and organic sound that would match the wilderness of ATF Sinner's lyrics"), and also discusses the album's themes of humanity being enslaved on multiple levels. Wilson will be embarking on a tour with Gwar and Warbeast this coming April, with dates available below. The following press release was also issued about Wilson:
"The growl of chain saws making firewood of fifty foot pines. That's Wilson. The howling of a pack of wolves battling a rabid moose. That's Wilson. The panting, gasping breaths of a smoke break 'nooner.' That's fucking Wilson. The citation for a noise violation... that's just where the party begins.
"If all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, then all party and no bullshit have made Wilson juggernauts. For the past few years Wilson has transformed shows into parties, and concerts into riots throughout the Midwest. Wilson has not only held their own, but raised the bar for how much fun live music can be.
"Now Wilson is ready to take their party to the road, heading out on the 'Fate or Chaos' North American tour with Mutant Overlords GWAR and Warbeast. The tour is set to kick off April 10th in Tucson, AZ and will run through April 25th in Jacksonville, FL. Tickets for all the dates are on sale now."

Trinakrius will be releasing "Seven Songs of Seven Sins" this coming April 9th on End of the Light Records. The artwork and track listing can be viewed below, and the band also commented on its history:
"The Trinakrius project was formed in Palermo in 1995. In 1996 we recorded our first demo tape entitled 'Intrinakrius.' It received quite good reviews in several heavy metal magazines, but despite the reasonable success and numerous performances in local pubs, we splitted up at the end of the same year. During the six years pause we all had our own musical experiences in some other bands (e.g. Holy Knights,Acacia, Synthesys, Black Twilight, and others).
"After this break Trinakrius reunited in 2002 and published the 'Inquisantism' mini concept, whereby the band signed its first contract with the Italian label Doom Symphony and shortly after the first official LP titled 'Sancta Inquisitio.' The band was in July 2006 contacted to play to the Headbangers Open Air festival in Hamburg, and during this event we presented our music to an international audience and expanded our sales of the album. After such a wonderful experience we immediately started working on our new album and we produced a three songs promo CD. Unfortunately our singer had to quit because of personal reasons and left the band.
"Then entered Flavio Rezza as new singer and in April 2007 the band went another time to Germany for the Kutten4ever Festival. After the return to Italy an Austrian label Psychedoomelic Records offered to re-release the first self-produced album 'Inquisantism' and was confirmed for the Up The Hammers Festival in April 2008 (Athens - Greece). During the whole summer Trinakrius worked in the studio on the new album preproduction 'The Black Hole Mind,' which was recorded in December 2007 and released via the german Hellion Records label in autumn 2008. Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails has released a statement via Pitchfork.com about the band regrouping to tour during 2013.
You can read the full article right here. The official statement from Trent Reznor reads as follows:
Nine Inch Nails are touring this year. I was working with Adrian Belew on some musical ideas, which led to some discussion on performing, which led to some beard-scratching, which (many steps later) led to the decision to re-think the idea of what Nine Inch Nails could be, and the idea of playing a show. Calls were made to some friends, lots of new ideas were discussed, and a show was booked - which led to another, which somehow led to a lot of shows.
The band is reinventing itself from scratch and will be comprised of Eric Avery, Adrian Belew, Alessandro Cortini, Josh Eustis, Ilan Rubin, and me. The first shows will begin this summer, followed by a full-on arena tour of the US this fall, and lots of other dates worldwide to follow through 2014. Lots of details and dates to come. See you soon.
Details on the dates will be announced as they become available. In related news, Trent Reznor also recently took home two Grammy wins for his soundtrack to the movie "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo."

Swimming With Sharks Records regretfully announces adding Forced Abortion from Palatine, Illinois to the label's roster. Swimming With Sharks comments:
"The band has been abusing ear drums and pissing people off since July 2012. The band is reminiscent of controversial grind-core/noise-core acts such as Anal Cunt (Earache Records). Most of the band’s appeal lies in their truly bizarre and often offensive album and song titles, such as the band’s 'Swastika' EP, released in January of 2013, which features song titles such as 'Acidic Cow Urine Drinking Fountain,' 'Inverted Limb Buried Beneath a Pile of Paralyzed Horses,' 'Pussy Cunt Cop Killer,' 'Insane Clown Pussy,' and 'It’s Holocaust Time.'"
The band attracted the attention of Noah Shark Robertson from The Browning (Earache Records) and owner of Swimming With Sharks Records, by sending an email that simply read, “Sign us faggots.”
Robertson comments, “At first I was thinking to myself, who the hell does that?! Once I checked out the band, I couldn’t stop laughing and knew I had to sign them to the label immediately. Do yourself a favor and add the band on Facebook! You won’t be disappointed… well, maybe a little.”
One of the founding members, Cannibal, states: “This label sucks and I want to kill myself. When I was five years old, I tried killing my two month old brother by drowning him. I have aids.”
The band's latest music masterpiece is "Violent Monkey Orgy," available through Swimming With Sharks. To find out more please visit the band's Facebook profile here.

Kingdom Come mastermind Lenny Wolf has now revealed the cover artwork and track listing for new album "Outlier," which can be found below.
"Naturally, nobody is happier than I am when my music is loved by as many fans as possible," says Wolf, "but these kinds of aspects are irrelevant when it comes to creating a new album. The only thing that matters is testing myself as an artist and embarking on new paths."
According to a press release, with "Outlier" Lenny is starting a new chapter of his diverse creative career, positioning his charismatic voice between traditional rock structures and modern sound elements, which add a third dimension to this album.
"I simply felt the need to delve deep inside of me and run riot in the infinite expanse of the audio cosmos. The result is a friction of mercilessly mechanical, heartless sound collages, combined with my typical melancholy-melodious style," Wolf explains the album's interwoven experimental approach to his sound. "A whole number of souls happen to dwell in my breast, which is why experimentation and the development of my musical existence simply belong together."
Lenny purposely takes into account that this approach may also lead to friction and requires an open mind of its listeners: "It's of secondary importance to me whether this is clever in business terms. To me, it's all about creating optimum varieties of sound signals which go through the ear straight into the heart. Some call it a vocation. Hallelujah." More...

Vivid Remorse, has posted a music video online for the track "Theory of Fear," which comes off the band's "Down the Wire" album. Check out the clip below. The band also comments:
"With this song, Theory of Fear, Vivid Remorse would like to make tribute to the innocent people who died by the bullets of the mad.
"Those mad who were lucky and decided to finish with their lives by committing suicide; otherwise, more than one would like to kill those motherfuckers himself. And they would deserve.
"Weapons never will have the right, but since there's no justice without victory, there's no victory without the death of the bastards. We honour the innocent: the theory of fear never wouldn't have been thought."

Dutch death metal warriors Centurian have officially released "Contra Rationem" in North America via Listenable Records. To celebrate the release of it, Centurian and Listenable Records have teamed with StereoKiller.com to stream the album in its entirety. Check it out at this location, or below in the player.
Main songwriter Rob Oorthuis commented on his vision about the authenticity, core and strength of the new album: "'Contra Rationem' is an adversive record in the broadest sense of the word. It lacks all the ethics of contemporary productions. Leaving only the dynamic range of decay and rats exploring your skeleton. Through the rattle of bones...One might even hear flesh on instruments. We keep our death metal under-produced. All songs were nailed with conviction, without hesitation, in one take. Guided only by tongues of fire descending upon our heads. Uncorrected. Tech/prog metal band East of the Wall has announced the details of an upcoming stateside April tour. Beginning with a home state kickoff show on April 12th, the tour will hit eleven cities across the East Coast and Midwestern U.S. Sponsored by Metal Underground.com, the trek will see East Of The Wall teamed up with LA-based stoner/groove metal outfit All Hail The Yeti for all shows, with Indiana’s math/experimental metal outfit Exotic Animal Petting Zoo also joining the tour on three dates.
