Hi to everybody. We all know that many of you were waiting for the news about our new singer and it is true that his name was supposed to be revealed right today. But as the mix of the album already started and the result of his artistic performance on ASCENDING TO INFINITY is simply brilliant, then we decided to not present our singer by simply revealing his name. Instead, with the next news of Tuesday, MARCH 27, we’ll present him in the best way possible, the one we know you surely prefer.

Said vocalist/guitarist Matt Harvey of the latest edition to their relentless 2012 tour cycle: “The hits just keep on coming for us this year. We are fully chuffed to be a part of the illustrious Summer Slaughter package. It's going to be awesome to get done playing early so we can concentrate on our true passion -- drinking! This hulking monstrosity of a traveling freakshow should be a mandatory thing for all the boils and ghouls out there, so we'll see you on the seemingly never-ending campaign for musical -- and just general -- destruction that we've been waging all over the planet since last April. Cheers!”
Exhumed today kick off the 16-date Grind Over Europe Tour with Rotten Sound and Magrudergrind. West Coast death metal pioneer Autopsy will release its 22-track collection of re-mastered classics and rarities, "All Tomorrow’s Funerals," tomorrow on Peaceville Records. The band has teamed up with Pitchfork.com to stream “Mauled To Death,” a vintage Autopsy track that will finally surface from the tomb as part of this monstrous album.
“’Mauled to Death’ is the last song from the early days that never got a proper album treatment, since it was only recorded on a 1987 demo,” said Autopsy drummer/vocalist, Chris Reifert, in a chat with Pitchfork. “Now it's got the double guitar laceration attack (the original version was from before [guitarist] Danny [Coralles] joined the band), as well as some added atmospheric guitar ugliness.”
Check out the song here.
"All Tomorrow’s Funerals" will contain re-mastered versions of all of Autopsy’s past EP’s - everything from "Retribution For The Dead" to the now sold-out "The Tomb Within" - plus four newly recorded tracks.
The track listing is as follows: More...
Tavastia is one of those legendary metal bars in Helsinki that goes all the way back to the 60’s. Hordes of metal bands have played there, and it’s one of those places that if you’ve lived in Helsinki long enough, it becomes a regular stop.
So it was much to my own amazement when I realized I had actually never been there! Truly I couldn’t have thought of a better night to be there, then when Amon Amarth would be taking the stage. More...

With six weeks to go until the release of the new album, "True Defiance," Demon Hunter is giving fans a first taste of the new set with the debut of the track "Someone To Hate." Check out the song here. The band's publicist issued the following statement:
"A circle pit-inducing rampage with a thrash backbone, the dynamic 'Someone To Hate' finds Demon Hunter taking their music's most beloved aspects and pushing them to bold and exciting extremes. The track is an apt first impression of what lies in store for fans with the April 10 release of True Defiance, the band's sixth album in 10 years."
"'Someone To Hate' feels like a perfect first-glimpse at the new record," says Demon Hunter frontman Ryan Clark. "At one point we were even debating on it being the album opener. It's definitely a thrash song, but with a Demon Hunter twist. I think fans will dig it because it has a lot of classic DH elements, but it really pushes each of those elements to the max. It's fast, it's mean, it's unapologetic... but of course, it has moments of melody as well." More...

New Jersey's With Daggers Drawn has issued the following announcement about lineup changes:
"It sucks ass to announce this, but Max and Joey are both no longer members of WDD. A few weeks ago, Tommy, Greg, and I decided that we needed to go in a new and different direction with the band. There are absolutely no hard feelings between any of us. We are all still brochachos and always will be. Unfortunately, these things happen within bands and we made the tough decision to move forward without our brothers Max and Joey.
"So, we are now on the hunt for a new vocalist! Tommy, Greg and I have already started working on new music. Tommy has a plethora of hot jams that we are going to feast on and digest into recordings within the next few weeks. Once we have a few kingly tunes tracked, we will post them up and send them out to any singers who are interested. We are looking for the right GUY OR GIRL to satisfy our musical needs. Obviously, anyone who is interested MUST have the ability to actually SING like a champion. This band is, has been, and always will be molded around melody and catchy hooks. We are not totally against screaming but it is NOT a requirement. Also, it is very important that people who inquire about the position are serious about being in this band with the goal of making it your career. We all have day jobs and transportation so that is also an important requirement. More...

"As a result, the record will NOT be available at the UP THE HAMMERS festival... This is very sad, since we've all been looking forward to it… BUT do not be disappointed since all the 7inch records are now being re-pressed and re-packaged, and a new release date will be set shortly!
"We are all really sorry for this late announcement."

February is black history month here in America, and we at Metal Underground make sure that black metal is featured to honor the tradition. This month we have unearthed plenty of lesser-known black metal acts and have delved into old school articles on legendary black metal bands like Darkthrone. In keeping with the tradition of black metal history month, let's get back to the true meaning of the phrase by showcasing bands composed of actual black musicians who play metal.
Last year, our Content Manager Ty brought some interesting black bands to light. This year we'll travel to the Caribbean, Africa and other locations to discover some bands composed entirely or mostly of black musicians - further showing how metal isn't solely an Anglo phenomena made up of just white band members. You will find metal everywhere, by all ethnicities and in countries one wouldn't normally associate with metal - by people who love heavy music. We will unearth plenty of our brothers in metal today. Just recently, Botswana's "metal cowboys" got featured at an art exhibit over at Bekris Galleries in San Francisco. This photographic montage is the work of noted shutterman Frank Marshall, who spent countless hours delving into the metal subculture of Botswana for his thesis at Tshwane University. Some of these metalheads are probably more hardcore than your average anglo devotee in the amount of hardship they endure to listen to their music of choice. Let's check in now with a few bands that we have unearthed for you today. More...
