DEVIOUS recently commenced recording their new full-length album “Vision,” to be released by DEITY DOWN RECORDS. “Vision” succeeds the band’s critically acclaimed works “Acts of Rage” (Spitzenburg Records 2003) and “Domain” (Deity Down Records 2007). The recordings will be engineered by Frank Klein Douwel and mixed by producer Jochem Jacobs (Textures) at the Split Second Sound studios, Netherlands.
Due to the departure of long time bass player SVEN VAN TOORN, the current DEVIOUS line-up consists of:
GUIDO DE JONGH (Founding member, Guitars)
FRANK SCHILPEROORT (Founding member, Drums)
ARNOLD OUDE MIDDENDORP (Vocals)
WOUTER HUITEMA (Guitars)
DANIEL CENTIAGO (Bass)
The release of “VISION” is planned for late August 2009. The exact date will be announced shortly.
Displeased Records will be reissueing EVOKEN's "Shades of Night Descending" this spring. The reissue will be remastered and include the band's Promo '96 and Promo '97 releases, containing 70+ minutes of excellent funeral doom/death.
BASTARDIZED RECORDINGS recently announced the signing of Poland's FAUST AGAIN. The label comments: "The new album totally blew us away instantly as it's definitely a huge step in FAUST AGAIN's progression as a band. We will upload first music evidence to prove this very soon."
Founded in late 1999 the band released some classics such as the "Seizing Our Souls" and "Hope Against Hope" albums on Circulation Records and toured pretty much everywhere.
FAUST AGAIN recently finished mastering of their upcoming effort entitled "The Trial," scheduled for a May 2009 release via BASTARDIZED RECORDINGS.
Vocalist Marcin commented on the signing and future plans:
"The new year brings good news and it’s about time to share them with you. We’re thrilled to announce that we just signed a deal with Bastardized Recordings from Germany. This decision was easy to make since Bastardized Recordings has been around for couple good years and you can definitely call these guys “pros”. Nevertheless the most important thing for us was the enthusiastic reaction we got from Bastardized Team after they heard our demo tracks. That’s what we wanted to achieve – to work with people who share the same passion and enjoy our music as much as we do. Our new album will come out in May 2009 and we’re already working together with Bastardized Recordings and Go Down Believing on promo tours. We have a lot of plans for 2009 so stay tuned for more butt kicking news coming really soon."

Mike Patton (Fantômas, Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Peeping Tom and the forthcoming Mondo Cane amongst others) has just completed his first major motion film score for the film "Crank 2: High Voltage" (April 17 release).
While Patton has often dabbled in film whether it was lending his voice to the creatures in "I Am Legend," his score for the indie film noir short "A Perfect Place" or Fantômas' film scoring interpretation via The Director's Cut, this marks his first proper film score.
Created during the latter half of 2008, Patton holed up in a Los Angeles studio and eliminated all other projects during the recording, a point worth noting as he is well known for being one of modern music's most prolific artists.
Patton has also provided vocals to several videogames including "Bionic Commando," "Portal," "Left 4 Dead," and "The Darkness." He also lent his voice to Adult Swim's Metalocalypse (character name: Rikki Kix). Patton just wrapped up a trek across Australia with Fantômas as part of the Big Day Out festival. His upcoming schedule includes a performance with labelmates Zu (Mar. 19 @ Great American Music Hall in San Francisco), the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 17 with Rahzel (ex-Roots beatboxer) and the highly anticipated reunion tour with Faith No More in Europe this summer.

Ontario based band Dead and Divine have issued the following statement about an upcoming album:
"You're damn right I just dropped that bomb. In lieu of my recent interest in bolding, underlining, and being obsessively organized, I feel it's only fair for me to organize the fuck out of this blog. Check it.
"This will be a lovely little cornucopia of information. It shall be a mammoth horn of fuckin' plenty. This blog is a diaper and what I'm about to discuss is the shit.
"As you may have guessed from the title, the record is titled "The Machines We Are". I'm really excited for everybody to hear what we're working on, it's heavier than anything we've written and it's more melodic and lovely than anything we've written. Hopefully you're all as stoked as I am to get it out there.
"Who's producing the record you ask? Well why don't you fuck off and let me tell you. We'll be working with a super-team consisting of the ever-renowned Garth "GGGarth" Richardson (Atreyu, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rise Against, Beloved, Rage Against the Machine, Haste the Day), and Torontonian Eric Ratz (Cancer Bats, Billy Talent, Thornley). Chris Grigg, vocalist of Philadelphia black metallers WOE, has released the following statement regarding the new "pay what you will" option on their website for WOE's debut album, "A Spell for the Death of Man:"
"Woe is not a marketing scheme or career path. It is not something we do to get famous, get girls, get friends, get sponsorships, or look cool. (A good thing, too, since it has not and cannot do any of those things!) The amount of time, energy, and personal money poured into this project for no reason other than passion for the art is staggering and, as time goes on, will continue and increase. Below, a dollar amount of your choice can be entered and, when the process is complete, you will start the download of a zip file (approx 102MB) containing the complete 'A Spell for the Death of Man' album in MP3 (320kbps) format along with the CD insert and lyrics. It is DRM-free so you can do with it as you please." More...

The new songs sound killer and they even still grow every time we rehearse. Watch out for more news here soon." More...

Oceano, who recently topped the Myspace charts, has announced that they will be filming a music video for their song "District Of Misery" today in Los Angeles, California.
The video will see Oceano playing the song alongside a twisted photographic interpretation of each lyrical line as it is growled. The director's vision for the photographic concept is a compelling choice for a band who's image already relies on dark intensity. "Me (Patrick Guera) and my director of photography shot some more surrealistic stuff to accentuate the brutality." As for exactly what imagery will be used;", says Guera as the directorslyly hints at some of the specific imagery. "I use a lot of gnarled branches, some human props, I don't want to give too much away. The visuals will speak for themselves."
"The video is mostly based around Oceano's performance," says Guera, "they are really brutal so we are going to accentuate that in the way we shoot them, covering them from all angles, matching our movement to the change ups in the song."

Metallica has apparantly set the record for the largest ever attendance at the Trent FM Arena in Nottingham, England. Approximately 10,337 fans packed the arena to see the band perform. The previous record was held by indie band Kings Of Leon.
"We are always striving to provide increased capacities for promoters and this record breaking attendance highlights our success in being able to attract the highest calibre of artists to our venue," said chief executive Geoff Huckstep.
"Metallica put on a spectacular gig last night – performed 'in the round' thus guaranteeing a great view for the fans - it was also the fastest selling gig here shifting an amazing 9,500 tickets in just one hour when it went on sale - another record breaking milestone for the venue."
Polish death metal legends Vader has revealed their new album title and posted a new song online for a free download. A posting from the band reds as follows: "In the middle of March, Vader will enter Hertz Studio in Bialystok, Poland to begin recording session of band's next studio album, entitled Necropolis.
"All the tracks will be recorded at Hertz and engineered by Wieslawski Bros. Tue Madsen (who previously worked with such bands as MOONSPELL, CATARACT, HEAVEN SHALL BURN and many more...) will mix the album at his famous Antfarm Studios in Denmark.
"Necropolis will be the first album recorded with Vader's new lineup featuring new musicians Paul (drums), Reyash (bass) and Vogg (guitars). More...
Guns N Roses's infamous frontman Axl Rose recently spoke with Del James for a discussion about a number of things. Inevitably, the question of a reunion came up to which Axl Rose responded: "It's highly doubtful for us to have more than one of the alumni up with us at any given time."
"I suppose (former bass player) Duff (McKagan) could play guitar on something somewhere but there's zero possibility of me having anything to do with Slash," Rose said.
"In a nutshell, personally I consider him a cancer and better removed, avoided -- and the less anyone heard of him or his supporters the better."
Crown the Lost has announced Dom Scarano, who's been playing with the band since December, as their official new bassist. Here's the update from the band:
"Really no surprise here - bassist Dom Scarano is now officially a member of the CTL fold. Dom has proven to be a viable commodity since he began jamming with us in mid-December and we are eager to move forward with him holding down the low end. A converted guitar player, Dom has picked up on our set with ease and better yet, has demonstrated a penchant for odd humor that immediately endeared himself to the always hard-to-please Joe and Renaldi. Since we are a family-oriented band, some of this material bears not repeating, but I'm sure you'll get the idea.
"In other worthy news, the release date for Blind Faith Loyalty is now Tuesday, May 5th in North America; April 17 in Europe via Cruz del Sur Music. While we had hoped for a March release, this will give us more time to prepare and promote the album and above all else, get our shit together. Not like it wasn't before, but the benefit of extra time should bode well for us.
"As a reminder, we have tickets for our April 4 show with Exodus, so please hit us up while supplies last. We can be reached through this very Myspace page or by email: email@example.com."
The band has the following shows lined up currently:
Apr 4, 2009 7:30P - Rex Theatre w/ Exodus Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Apr 17, 2009 9:00P - The Fallout Shelter Aliquippa, Pennsylvania
May 30, 2009 9:00P - RPM’s w/ Jacob’s Dream Bridgeville, Pennsylvania
