Deron Miller of CKY fame has posted some updates on his current situation. In regards to last years' fallout with CKY, he had the following to say:
"I'm still waiting on some news myself. when i say i know nothing, that means i really know...nothing. i have not heard from anyone at all since that st. lois show when that shit went down. i have tried to get in touch with those guys but they are not ready to speak to me as they are still understandably pissed off at me. its frustrating for everyone but for me it especially sucks because i am no longer that person that caused that trouble. in any event i hope we can finally finish the masterpiece that we started and get out touring again. thats all i can say."
For the moment, Miller is working on his death metal band, World Under Blood, about which he had the following to say:
"the big news
the time has come to head back into the studio in early april and lay down 4 new WUB tracks. the 4 of us are really amped on the last song i wrote, i think it'll end up being the best one i've ever written in my life. there's also one thats pretty fast, in fact i'm thinking maybe its a bit too fast...which means its perfect. we're also going to do some covers...the definite one we're doing is megadeth's "wake up dead" which we all agree to be one of the best metal songs of all time.
to be honest, this wasnt the big news...but you'll know soon enough.
Porcupine Tree's new disc, "Nil Recurring," has been given a full retail release, and Peaceville have a micro site dedicated to the album which includes a new video by Lasse Hoile for the song "Normal". The retail edition of the album is identical to the original mail order version except that it comes in a super-jewel case with a card slipcase, instead of the digipack Transmission version. Both this and the "We Lost The Skyline" CD are now shipping from the PT Store.
Swedish band Scar Symmetry has posted the following announcement on their MySpace page:
"We're happy to announce that our 3rd CD, "Holographic Universe", has now been mixed, mastered and delivered to the people at Nuclear Blast Records! We pushed the "record"-button for the first time early December and the time since has been hectic and intense to say the least. We've worked our asses off 24/7 and the result is 12 new songs, featuring all the creamy goodness of "Symmetric In Design" and the spicy flavours of "Pitch Black Progress", this time with a lot of added cheese and pork-fat... Does it make sense to you? No, not to us either..."
The tracklisting for "Holographic Universe," tentatively due to hit shelves in June this year, is as follows:
02. Timewave Zero
04. Artificial Sun Projection
05. The Missing Coordinates
06. Ghost Prototype I (Measurement Of Thought)
07. Fear Catalyst
09. Prism And Gate
10. Holographic Universe
11. The Three-Dimensional Shadow
12. Ghost Prototype II (Deus Ex Machina)
Tampa, Florida’s LIGHT YOURSELF ON FIRE have completed work on a new EP and have posted a brand new exclusive track, titled "Love And Death" on their myspace page.
LIGHT YOURSELF ON FIRE consists of ex-members of REVERSAL OF MAN, SCROG, BRUTALITY, and more.
The band’s sound is inspired by the intensity of the Tampa death metal scene, as well as the dark atmosphere of bands like SWANS and CHRISTIAN DEATH, and the abrasive, off-kilter noise of bands like HELMET and UNSANE.
The new EP was produced by Mark Nikolich at Atomic Audio Recording in Tampa, FL, and mastered by Scott Hull at Visceral Sound.
LIGHT YOURSELF ON FIRE is currently seeking a label for the new EP. The band’s debut full-length was released on CD by Kiss Of Death Records and on cassette by Robotic Empire.
LIGHT YOURSELF ON FIRE will be touring throughout 2008.
Long Island's THIS IS HELL have announced a UK headline tour in support of new album "Misfortunes", released Monday, February 25. Support will come from UK noiseniks DEAD SWANS.
Commented guitarist Rick Jimenez: "We're always siked to get to the UK, but especially now with the new album. We're dying to play these new joints live. We're headlining this time around so we get to play smaller more intimate venues which I greatly prefer, as well as take out DEAD SWANS, a band we're real stoked on!"
The follow-up to "Sundowning", "Misfortunes" was recorded at Killingsworth Studio in Long Island, NY with Tomas Costanza (DIFFUSER, BEDLIGHT FOR BLUE EYES) and Full Force Studios in Port Jefferson with the acclaimed producer Joe Cincotta (OBITUARY, SUFFOCATION, ANIMOSITY).
Comments Rick: "The new album is furious as ever. We put a lot of time and effort into the writing and went real deep to tell the story we needed to tell and express what we needed to express this time around. The album is a journey through life dealing with your actions, your demons, your regrets, your struggle to stay afloat and whether it's worth it to even hold on or to just give up. There is a lot of self-questioning and realization this time around. We went real deep and got real personal on this one but I believe its something that a lot of people will be able to relate to. People need to know that it is OK to feel miserable and frustrated sometimes and know there are other people out there that don't always have the answers either."
THIS IS HELL's Kerrang! Most Wanted Tour with DEAD SWANS:
Apr. 18 - Barfly, Cardiff
Apr. 19 - Barfly, Birmingham
Apr. 20 - Barfly, Liverpool
Apr. 21 - Barfly, Aberdeen
Apr. 22 - Barfly, Glasgow
Apr. 23 - Barfly, York
Apr. 25 - Barfly, Brighton
Apr. 26 - Barfly, London
Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles recently conducted an interview with Warrel Dane, frontman and vocalist for Nevermore. Dane talks about his upcoming solo album, "Praises to the War Machine," progress on the new Nevermore live DVD, writing for a new Nevermore album, plans to tour and more. Excerpts from the interview follow:
On taking his solo material on the road:
"I'm very committed to get this thing on the road. I'm working on new Nevermore material, but I can work on songs on the road. It's not going to be a problem writing the Nevermore stuff and touring at the same time. I'm going to do as much touring as I can possibly do for this because I'm so proud of this record and I just want to get it out there and play these songs live because I know they are going to translate well to a live show and I can hardly wait."
On the status of writing for new Nevermore material:
"I've got a lot of really strong song ideas from Jeff (Loomis - guitars) that I'm working on. At the moment he's working on an instrumental record. I'm not sure when he's going into the studio to work on it. It's going to be very soon though. Once he's done with that, we're going to go full-on focusing on Nevermore stuff. For the moment I have a bunch of stuff I can work on without Jeff. Everyone keeps asking me - 'with this solo record is Nevermore broken up?' Fuck no! There's no sticker on it that says 'there's no more Nevermore so deal with it.'"
The setlist for the band's upcoming live DVD, filmed at their October 11th, 2006 gig in Bochum, Germany is as follows: "Final Product", "My Acid Words", "What Tomorrow Knows/Garden Of Grey", "Next In Line", "Enemies Of Reality", "I, Voyager", "The River Dragon Has Come", "I Am The Dog", "Dreaming Neon Black", "Noumenon", "Inside Four Walls", "Politics Of Ecstasy", "Dead Heart In A Dead World", "Matricide", "The Learning", "Sentient 6", "Narcosynthesis", "The Heart Collector", "Born", "This Godless Endeavor". On the DVD, Warrel said:
"There's a company in Germany that's editing the whole thing right now. I'm going over to Germany in March to help because the first cut didn't turn out so great. The footage is good, but the first edit was bad. It was like an MTV video, not a live show. So I have to go over and fix the problem. There's been other issues in terms of getting it released that we are trying to get resolved and it's been a nightmare."
On the album cover for "Praises to the War Machine" and politics:
"It's like an apocalyptic scene with these two children that are standing naked in the middle of a battle-field with bombs dropping on them. And they are kind of waving at the bombs saying 'hi, how are you.' It's really creepy. The song itself has got a little more of a political bent to it. Not really personal. I mean the music sounded very angry and a little bit war-like. It's just kind of a statement about the current situation in the world where politicians are making money off of war. And to me that's just sickening and I had to vent. I'd like Dick Cheney to hear that song actually. It's certainly a moment in history when you have a black man and a woman up for the same job. That's something a few years ago I would have never imagined. No matter who gets the nomination it's going to be historic either way. So that's kind of interesting. I still have no clue who I'd vote for."
The tracklisting for Dane's solo album is as follows:
01 - When We Pray
02 - Messenger (featuring Jeff Loomis)
03 - Obey
04 - Lucretia My Reflection
05 - Let You Down (featuring Chris Broderick)
06 - August
07 - Your Chosen Misery/Feel Failure
08 - Praise To The Warmachine (featuring James Murphy)
09 - Brother
10 - Patterns
11 - This Old Man
12 - Aeon

After much anticipation, the stunning, inaugural solo effort from NEVERMORE vocalist Warrel Dane will finally see a North American release on May 13th. With this effort one of metal’s most defining and revolutionary vocalists further hones his craft to perfection.
Dane, who first shattered the boundaries of conventionality with the legendary SANCTUARY and NEVERMORE, proves that he is one of metal’s most diverse frontmen with this solo effort as he unleashes a barrage of introspective and personal lyrics that are heartfelt and extremely powerful. All of this emotion backed with his soaring angelic and dynamic vocals provides all of the necessary elements for a savagely captivating, melodic assault that quickly hooks you in. This exhilarating new offering begins a new chapter for Dane and will soon further solidify his spot as one of the genre’s most influential artists.
Before beginning this new venture Dane went out and surrounded himself with some of the best musicians that he could find. This search ultimately resulted in landing the renowned Peter Wichers (ex-SOILWORK) on guitars and bass, Dirk Verbeuren (SOILWORK) on drums and Matt Wicklund (ex-HIMSA) on guitars. The effort was also recorded and mixed by Wichers (co-producer SOILWORK).
Dane further comments as to how this solo effort came about: “Right around the time NEVERMORE was recording This Godless Endeavour I started talking to Peter Wichers about maybe doing something together. I think we both wanted to do something different and that’s ultimately what got the ball rolling. I had always wanted to work with a songwriter that had a more song based approach rather than focusing on technical skills and Peter was exactly that. We collaborated on almost everything and I wrote all the lyrics and melodies. Peter had great ideas at times for harmonies, that’s what a good producer does, and I think he’s really come into his own as a producer with this record.
“The purpose of doing this project was to step out of the confines of NEVERMORE and focus on coming up with memorable songs instead of constructing songs that showcased everyone’s skills. The material is more straightforward than NEVERMORE, but I don’t know what to call it. I think my influences have really played a part of the sound. I love old school goth and I love thrash metal, and every other kind of metal, there’s a little bit of all of that in the record.

According to a news article on Mother Jones, music by bands including Deicide (who's song "Fuck Your God" is declared the most used), Dope, Drowning Pool, Metallica, AC/DC, Rage Against The Machine, Hedpe and others has been used in American military prisons and on bases as torture devices. The songs are said to induce sleep deprivation, "prolong capture shock," disorient detainees during interrogations, and are apparently handy for drowning out screams. Based on a leaked interrogation log, news reports, and the accounts of soldiers and detainees, here are some of the songs that guards and interrogators reportedly chose: More...

A live interview with legendary singer and frontman King Diamond (KING DIAMOND, MERCYFUL FATE) will air on "The Vault of Metal" show on Friday, February 29 beginning around 1:00 p.m. EST.
For more information, go to www.thevaultofmetal.com.
KING DIAMOND recently received a Grammy nomination in the "Best Metal Performance" category for the track "Never Ending Hill" off the group's latest album, "Give me Your Soul … Please".
In November, KING DIAMOND cancelled its North American headlining tour — which was scheduled to launch March 23 in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, and run through May 8 in Houston — due to a herniated disc.
"Give Me Your Soul ... Please" entered the Swedish national chart at position No. 28. The CD also landed at No. 58 on the Danish chart (the second highest new entry on the chart behind VELVET REVOLVER).
"Give Me Your Soul ... Please" sold 4,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 174 on The Billboard 200 chart.
VH1's hit reality show "Rock Of Love With Bret Michaels 2" is not only a mega success itself taking the top spot numerous times on all of cablevision, but it's bachelor star has recently hit the network airwaves with special guest appearances on television's top talk shows like "Live with Regis and Kelly", "The Ellen DeGeneres Show", and "Late Night with Conan O'Brien".
In addition to those accolades, late night television staples such as "Late Show with David Letterman" and "Saturday Night Live" have also given a nod to "Rock Of Love" with featured skits. "Saturday Night Live" scored some of its highest ratings the week they did a 10-minute "Rock Of Love" sketch that was dead-on perfect. One publication cited the great imitation as a definite indication that the "Saturday Night Live" staff had to be avid "Rock Of Love" viewers since they did such a great job with it!
Not only can you see Michaels on "Rock Of Love" this spring but you will also be able to read all about his life this fall when the singer's much-anticipated autobiography is released by renowned publishing house Simon & Schuster.
You'll also be able to see Michaels in an all-new light when the Biography Channel premiers its "Biography" on Michaels on April 5, and when Fox airs its special celebrity edition of "Don't Forget The Lyrics" featuring Michaels in May.
A solo album titled "Rock My World" is set to be released in April and the singer will be touring in support of the album starting this March.

Texas metal band DROWNING POOL has posted a brand new video message from singer Ryan McCombs. Watch it below.
DROWNING POOL lost its first singer, Dave Williams, to heart disease in 2002, and parted with a second vocalist and a record label while attempting its first comeback two years later.
More recently, bassist Stevie Benton was diagnosed in December with a neurological disorder called Bell's Palsy, which causes paralysis of the face and occasional sensitivity to sound. The group had to cancel the rest of its immediate tour dates so that Benton could recover.
DROWNING POOL has been on the road in support of its third album, "Full Circle", which marks the recording debut of Ryan McCombs. More...
The reunited STONE TEMPLE PILOTS have scheduled the following dates:
May 17 - Columbus, OH - Crew Stadium (Rock on the Range)
May 18 - Camden, NJ - Susquehanna Bank Center (WMMR Event)
May 23 - Indianapolis, IN - Indianapolis Motor Speedway
May 31 - Holmdel, NJ - PNC Garden State Amphitheatre (WXRK Event)
Jun. 01 - Mansfield, MA - Tweeter Center (WBCN Event)
Jun. 07 - Kansas City, MO - [to be announced] (KQRC Event)
Jul. 12 - Toronto, ON - Downsview Park (Edgefest)
More shows will be announced soon.
Although STONE TEMPLE PILOTS broke up in 2002 under less than friendly circumstances, both singer Scott Weiland (who currently fronts VELVET REVOLVER) and guitarist Dean DeLeo have said that the band members are all on good terms now. Weiland even told The Pulse of Radio he could envision making another STP album. "We were never a band that felt like we needed to lean too hard onto our muscle," he said. "We always felt like we had enough beauty and enough finesse in our music, you know, while we were together, that could carry us into a long career. So for us to make a record at an older age doesn't seem like a stretch, you know, 'cause we were never all about brawn."
The last STP album, "Shangri-La-Dee-Da", came out in 2001. The band's initial success in the early and mid-'90s was derailed in the latter part of the decade by Weiland's well-documented drug problems and arrests.
Weiland, who entered rehab earlier in the month at an undisclosed location, has struggled with substance abuse problems for more than a decade, although he has reportedly been clean for nearly four years until now. Questions about his condition flared a few weeks ago when he missed a VELVET REVOLVER performance at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah, claiming transportation problems.
METAL CHURCH singer Ronny Munroe has issued the following update:
"As you all know we are busy working on the new release. Metal Church is back with a vengeance and we know where you are. In appreciation for our fans old and new over the past two plus decades we have decided to accept artwork for the new cover from those who know us best.....our Congregation! If we accept your artwork and use it we will include your name on the CD.
The working title of the new release is "This Present Wasteland." So use your imagination. We will desplay some of the artwork we get on the Metal Church myspace page for everyone to see. We know there are many talented fans out there and we would love to see one of you get the cover. You can submit your artwork to This_Present_Wasteland @yahoo.com.
This new release is sounding incredable and we are all very excited for you to hear it. Until then good luck and Metal Horns to you."
Formed in late 2005, Centralia began attacking the New Jersey metal scene. The band quickly found a stable line-up and began to crank out heavy tunes with groove. They have rocked the stage with the likes of Anal Cunt, From A Second Story Window, Mensrea, Spur, and countless local metal/hardcore actts. Fast forward to 2008, and Centralia are in the midst of writing a full length album and planning many more shows. In addition, Centralia now have their own web domain, which you can check out centraliaburns.com. I caught up with Ken, one of the guitarists, via email. More...
Guitarist/vocalist Oddleif Stensland of the Norwegian progressive power metallers COMMUNIC has issued the following update:
"Finally, the mixing of the new album is done, and the master has been sent to our record company Nuclear Blast. Hopefully they will like what we have been working on, 'cause they have not a single clue on what this album contains, as they have not previewed any demos or anything prior to entering the studio, until the master drops on their office table. But we have tons of confident and this is some of the most insane work we have ever done. The guitar and drums sounds fantastic, and Tor-Atle [Andersen] is playing his best stuff ever, Erik's [Mortensen] bass lines are more in your face than it has been before and my vocals has never been as varied as this before. We have no clue on what you guys out there will think of this new material, or what the magazines will have to say about it, but we know it will be hard to top the reviews and sound check positions from 'Waves of Visual Decay', because they where so raving all over, so it will be exiting to follow the coming months of promotion. We have also received a preview of the album artwork and it is simply amazing, and fits the theme and atmosphere that this album withholds, it will be shown here as soon as we are able to release it, along with the title of the album and the complete track list.
"I have said earlier that the album would contain shorter songs but I guess that was a tiny lie, as most of the songs clocks in over 8 minutes. One on 7, one over 9, while two on 6. Well, that's COMMUNIC, I guess!!!!"
The drums for the eight-song CD were recorded at Gimlekollen Studio in Kristiansand, Norway while the rest of the album was done at Jacob Hansen Studio in Ribe, Denmark, where the band's last two LPs were recorded. A May/June release via Nuclear Blast Records is expected.
The band last year toured Europe as the support band for UK progressive metallers THRESHOLD. Also appearing on the bill were MACHINE MEN and SERENITY.
COMMUNIC's sophomore effort, "Waves of Visual Decay", entered the German chart at position No. 66 back in May 2006.
COMMUNIC has been confirmed for the Bloodstock Open Air festival, set to take place August 15-17 at Catton Hall in Derbyshire England.
Nuclear Blast Records reports:
"Nuclear Blast is proud to announce the signing of Sumerian thrashing black metallers MELECHESH.
After founding the band in Jerusalem back in 1993 the band managed to become the first metal outfit out of the Middle East to draw mass attention from all over the world.
Since releasing their breakthrough album Sphynx in 2003 every headbanger out there has heard of this oriental blackish, thrashy force called Melechesh (which by the way is Hebrew/Aramaic for "king of fire“). After their even more successful 2006 effort Emissaries, it was time to move on businesswise – enter 2008 this unique and promosing band finally found its new home under the flag of Nuclear Blast. Welcome, brothers!"
Here is what founder, guitarist/vocalist and mainman Ashmedi has to say about this great news: “We are pleased to be cooperating with and being part of the Nuclear Blast dynasty. This was the logical step for us and Nuclear Blast has the platform from which we can keep on expanding and capturing the souls of many. With strong foundations towers can soar ever higher to reach newer cosmic plains.
I am working on new material at the moment, the writing process will still take some time, the process will be paused for the European Tour in March/April hence, talk of a new album will not yet be divulged but we will keep you updated!”
German black metal outfit DARK FORTRESS have premiered their new video clip for the song 'Edge Of Night', taken from their new album Eidolon, out now via Century Media. Check out the video below...
Guitarist V. Santura comments on the new video as follows: “It’s great to finally present our fans the first-ever Dark Fortress promo video, which should be an excellent and sophisticated alternative to all the lame clips with crappy sound that are uploaded to YouTube usually. The 'Edge Of Night' clip was filmed at an abandoned church and should captivate anybody with its dark and morbid atmosphere!”
Furthermore, despite all rumours, the Dark Essence Alliance tour featuring Dark Fortress, HELHEIM and VULTURE INDUSTRIES will take place as planned, see below for the exact dates:
7 - Zella-Mehlis, Germany - Klangbunker
8 - Aalen, Germany - Rock It
9 - Rotterdam, Netherlands - Baroeg
10 - London, UK - Purple Turtle, Camden
12 - Essen, Germany - Turock
13 - Ingolstadt, Germany - Paradox
15 - Salzburg, Germany - Arge Kultur
18 - Uster, Switzerland - Rock City
20 - Tilburg, Netherlands - Little Devil
21 - Lübeck, Germany - Treibsand

MÖTLEY CRÜE will launch a world tour, in support of their new album, The Dirt, on July 4th.
In an online post, drummer Tommy Lee also commented on his status in the group, stating, "Nope! I never quit! Silly rumors! We're all together! We're goin' on a world tour starting July 4th!"
As previously reported, Mötley Crüe has set a July 8th release date for The Dirt, their ninth studio album. The first single from the new album is expected to impact radio on May 7th.
The new album is based on The Dirt: Confessions Of The World's Most Notorious Rock Band, the 448-page tome which catalogues the drug and alcohol abuse, nasty infighting, and sex parties of Vince Neil, Tommy Lee, Mick Mars and Nikki Sixx.
A film version of the book is expected to be released this year by Paramount and MTV. It's been billed as a true-life version of This Is Spinal Tap.
Mötley Crüe was formed in 1981 and, as one of the best-selling hard rock heavy metal acts, have sold 50-million albums worldwide.
Ah, Bane in New York City’s Knitting Factory: non-stop straight-edge hardcore at its finest. Boston’s Bane plugged their gear in, and from the first force of front man Aaron Bedard’s strong vocals and heavy and energetic 3-chord and punch-packed drum backing from the band, fans were singing along in unison while moshers threw themselves across the floor. Bane made it clear they were excited to play New York City.
Bane’s merchandise booth was jam-packed with fans waiving their money and pointing to shirts. Personally, I fell in love with their black shirt with gold glittered ‘BANE.’ Inevitably, Bedard gifted me with a shirt and a hoodie. I can’t express enough how much this band RULES in every way! More...
The fourth album of Lithuania's Obtest "Gyvybes Medis" will be released early April in three different formats. The digipack compact disk and picture vinyl record will be handled by Osmose Productions, while the collectors' A5 sized CD book will be released by Ledo Takas Records.
Zucchero Clément of the French magazine RecMag conducted an interview with KORN bassist Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu on February 24, 2008 in Geneva, Switzerland. Fieldy talks about former KORN guitarist Brian "Head" Welch's recently published book, the French festival Hellfest and his personal projects. Also included is new performance footage with KORN guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer, who rejoined the band's European this past weekend after taking a break of several weeks.
Watch the five-minute clip at this location.
Shaffer left the group's European tour last month for "personal and family reasons." In a January 2008 MySpace bulletin, Munky stated about his decision to take a break, "If you want to better understand my departure, then listen to the words in the song 'Watching the Wheels' by John Lennon." Singer Jonathan Davis said, "We fully support Munky's need to be home right now and because we want to come through for all of our European fans, the tour will go on. It's what Munky wants us to do, too. We promise to give it our all every night!"
KORN's current touring lineup includes guitarist Shane Gibson and ARMY OF ANYONE drummer Ray Luzier, in addition to original members Davis and bassist Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu.
Patrick Douglas of the Great Falls Tribune recently conducted an interview with MUDVAYNE/HELLYEAH guitarist Greg Tribbett. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:
On MUDVAYNE's latest release, "By The People, For The People", a collection of rarities including live tracks and demos:
"This is stuff that you can't get online. This was in a vault. ... I'm sure you can get it online now after the record has been put out. It was something that nobody had ever heard and was an opportunity for our fans to hear how we wrote (songs), how certain songs came together at first before they made it onto a record."
On keeping busy touring with HELLYEAH:
"HELLYEAH has definitely given me another outlet of music that I needed. I needed some time away from MUDVAYNE to do another project. It's definitely gotten me wanting to go back and do some more writing with MUDVAYNE."
"I'm grateful that I've had the opportunity to be in both bands. It's a lot of hard work, man. It's going to pay off in the end and we're going to continue to do it. We're definitely going to do another HELLYEAH record and we're doing another MUDVAYNE record. I don't think I'm gonna get too much time off in the next five years."
On the past 18 months, which have been a blur to Tribbett:
"It's been like a roller coaster ride, man. We started writing the HELLYEAH record after MUDVAYNE got done touring 'Lost and Found' and pretty much haven't had a break. We put the record out and started touring it nonstop. In between that we started working on ... 'By The People, For The People' It's been pretty insane."
On being a veteran of nonstop touring:
"A lot of people can do it and a lot of people can't. The road's a hard life but we've been touring nonstop for seven, eight years now. I think that's the biggest change is how to handle the road, growing with the music, growing with touring. Maturing basically."
On the next MUDVAYNE record:
"I've been writing for a couple months, actually. I'll be prepared for it. It's like starting all over again."
On the album's musical direction:
"That's something where everyone's gonna have to wait and see what happens. We're trying some new stuff on the next record and the next tour to keep stepping it up. We definitely have a lot of ideas. Chad's [Gray, vocals] got a lot of interesting things that he's gonna write about."
Bassist Jonathan Buske of the Los Angeles hardcore/metal act TERROR has issued the following update:
"Just checking in to let you all know that the new record is DONE!!! We finished tracking and doing vocals a few days ago and have been working with Zeuss [producer Chris 'Zeuss' Harris; SHADOWS FALL, HATEBREED] on mixes for the past few days. Like every band says about their newest shit, it's without a doubt the best and hardest TERROR record to date. Expect some new TERROR flavor, some of the old and some unexpected flavor. We can't wait for you all to hear it!!
"We take off in a few days on the Firestorm Fest tour, so be sure to check out the dates for that on our page. Following that, we are doing the legendary Superbowl Of Hardcore in NYC, shooting a couple videos with our bros at Space Monkey Studios, then taking off to Europe to do a run with IGNITE, STRUNG OUT and DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR... then hitting up South America for a week or so. So, be sure to check the dates... we have a ton of stuff coming up."
TERROR is rumored to have inked a deal with Century Media Records for the release of its new album.
BTS Video recently posted footage of TERROR's January 5, 2008 concert at Skunk Hell in Seoul, Korea. Watch it below.
TERROR's latest EP, "Rhythm Amongst The Chaos", was released on October 30 through Reaper Records. This EP includes four new songs and one definitive cover song with a guest vocal appearance from Vinnie Paz of JEDI MIND TRICKS.
TERROR has always been a band known for holding true to their grassroots hardcore ethics. So when indie-hardcore label owner Patrick Kitzel approached the band about releasing a one-off EP through Reaper Records, TERROR jumped at the idea. "Scott [Vogel, vocals] and I have been friends for fifteen years and worked together with all of his prior bands," said Kitzel. "When the idea presented itself to do an EP for the love of the cause, it was a quick decision on who would be putting it out!" More...
Drummer Craig Nielsen of the veteran Arizona-based metallers FLOTSAM AND JETSAM has issued the following update:
"It's finally here! In less then one week the band starts its European tour! All the dates lead up to the killer Metalmania festival in Poland with MEGADETH, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, and so many other cool bands. We will be filming finally totally pro DVD from that show. There is going to be eight Sony, top-of-the-line cameras and an extremely professional crew. We will be going to some cities the band has never visited before, including Barcelona, Budapest, and, of course, the town in Poland, Katowice. When we get back it shouldn't be long before we begin recording the new record as we have nine songs written and so we are in the last stage of that process. We are very much looking forward to hanging out with all of our fans in Europe and having many warm beers. Unless, of course, Europe has worked out their refrigeration issues which would be ####ing killer, but there is no such thing as bad European beer, warm or cold."
As previously reported, FLOTSAM AND JETSAM, ATTACKER and CHRIS CAFFERY will perform at the TMT Metal Fest 2008, set to take place July 18-20 in Endicott, New York. Also scheduled to appear are TANTALLON, MAGUS BEAST, ARES and ICARUS WITCH, with more to be announced.
Finnish death metallers TOTAL DEVASTATION have posted this message on their official website:
"The new album is now ready! 'Honour The Disorder' will be released on April 16 through Playground Music.
New album shows no compromises, instead it gives you nine tracks of violence, dishonour and hooliganism. Maybe punkier approach than before, but still heavier than most of the 'Metal' albums of today. So, smash the nearest shop window, torn your shirt, drink cheap beer and buy this album!
Tomi Joutsen of AMORPHIS is (featured) in the song 'We Want To Believe'. The song is online at our MySpace site. Check it out!"
Here is the complete track listing for "Honour The Disorder":
01. High On War
02. Nation Of Rats
03. We Want To Believe
04. White Water
06. What Remains
07. Bend In Shape
THE HAUNTED vocalist Peter Dolving has posted this message on his MySpace page:
"One month of absolutely astounding results.
I had an epiphany after feeling like complete fucking crap for two months straight. Feeling absolutely worthless, useless and like utter crap. This, though everything in my life has been pretty much nothing but good. And then - clarity. I saw what the problem was. Self perception. My image of myself. Not just how I view this Peter Dolving character. No, a deep insight in my basic approach to everything that concerns me. I've gone through the last 30 years with this way of looking at myself and how I go about everything in life; I believe I'm worthless. With no redeeming values what so ever. No value, no weight, no nothing, ningun, niente, nada, zilch, zero, an absolute void really. Holy shit.
I also came to this understanding; Even though this might be my emotion, hard facts disprove me. I am a good dad, I actually have happy, communicative, creative and intelligent kids - worthless? They'd be fucked up, they're not. My wife has been with me for 10 (TEN!)years, and she still laughs at my crappy jokes, bares with me in my updownupdown little private rollercoaster, and she tells me she loves me. And it can't be the money, I know that for a fact. I live in a small house in the woods and my neighbours talk to me, lend me a hand and ask me for help and drink my coffee. No nervous scraping of feet, no forced politeness, simply no bullshit. I have friends. No real ones who've been there 15 years. Worthless don't keep friends for that long. I get to come to their homes, eat and drink, have my kids spill food all over their furniture and floors and keep getting invited back. I get to play music with some of the most talented people I have ever met in my life. People I admire. People I feel, well, inferior to. And what do they do? They treat me with love and respect. They listen to my ideas, my dreams, my visions and my woes. And they keep doing it. Worthless don't get invitations to participate in working with their peers and heroes. I get mail, and letters from people all over the world who appreciate work I participate in. Shit, worthless don't even piss people off.
And it dawned on me how fucking incredibly grateful I am for this life. A life I've hated my way through for too long.
It's funny in a sick kind of way, because my low self esteem has functioned like armor. No matter how much others have claimed to hate me, I've always shrugged, like "Yeah, well at least you don't have to BE me, you can just fuck off, cause I hate me more...". Pretty much explains why I always loved NIRVANA's 'Negative Creep' or 'Here Come Sickness" by MUDHONEY.
So if anyone wonders why I haven't been blogging a lot lately, it's simple; I've been busy living.
As far as elections, music-scene, politicians and internet slander goes; Fuck 'em all... but you knew I'd say that...
And yes, I still hate Glam Rock, Emo, and fags who are too chicken shit queer to call themselves Proud Homo, cause you know what? I can't stand superficial drama and featherboas. In my book, we're all freaks - some just don't have the fucking balls to be square about it.
Oh yeah, if you by any means really loooooove the goth latex polished surface world, please keep doing it, but don't hide from why, and don't blame mom and dad - they're just as fucked as you and me.
Peace and love fuckers!"
KNAC.com has issued an exclusive interview with DEATH ANGEL guitarist Rob Cavestany, conducted by Peter Atkinson. The following is an excerpt:
Q: The new album’s got a real swagger to it. It’s has more of a rock vibe than a straight-up thrash vibe.
A: "That’s what our style has evolved to. We play thrash, but our sound of thrash has other elements. It’s a different flavor of thrash and that has to do with how our songwriting has matured and how confident we are as musicians."
Q: Your producer, Nick Raskulinecz, has done mostly rock albums, did that play much into vibe of the album, or did he just capture what you guys were putting out?
A: "Some of both. Not only did he capture what it is that we want, but he captured us at our best. That’s really the job of the producer, when you’re working with a band like us who really knows what we want with our sound. In our case, the role of collaborating with the producer was just that — to collaborate to bring out the best of our sound as opposed to wanting a producer to make us have their kind signature kind of sound.
When we met up with Nick, he and I basically co-produced the record together, we just hit if off from day one. One thing is the chemistry has to be there, right there it can make or break it, and even though he does mostly rock he’s a full-on metalhead. The whole reason we ended up working with him is he knew our music.
A friend of ours named Danko Jones, who did his last album with Nick, he came to one of the recording sessions wearing a Death Angel hoodie and Nick was like 'Dude, Death Angel', and he picked up a guitar and started playing 'Seemingly Endless Time' and 'The Ultra-Violence'. So Danko got a hold us and was like 'dude, my producer knows your guys music, you guys should hit him up'. And when we realized who he was, were like 'no way'. So we sent demoes to him and he called us the next day and was like 'dude, this is the sickest Death Angel album to date'. And we were locked in from that moment on."

Death Angel's Killing Season was released yesterday (February 26, 2008) via Nuclear Blast Records.
Now available is an exclusive Vitek tribute t-shirt commemorating the untimely passing of DECAPITATED drummer Witold "Vitek" Kieltyka in 2007. Limited to 100 units, it also commemorates the 2005 Decapitated/GOREROTTED European tour, which hit 12 countries in just under 30 days.
Wilson Gorerotted states, "I wanted to do something to mark our respect for the time we spent with Vitek, and all of Decapitated when we toured in 2005. It was a very important tour for us, and we have remained friends ever since. I felt that this shirt could give metal fans something to remember Vitek, and at the same time raise some money for the family. Vitek's daughter was born when we were on the road together, and hopefully this tour souvenir can provide something for her future too."
Vogg (Decapitated), "This is a tribute shirt for my brother Witek. This shirt is also an expression of respect from our brothers in Gorerotted, and a souvenir of one of the best tours we ever did."
The shirt has been donated 100% to the band, so every penny you spend goes directly to Vitek's family (less shipping cost). All shirts are black short sleeve, with white/silver print that looks killer! Available in M/L/XL, the shirt is extremely limited to 100 units, but if it proves popular, then it may be re-printed.
Wojtek Kieltyka, Vitek's brother, who is dealing with this tribute states, "On behalf of Witek's wife and daughter, I would like to express my sincerest gratitude and respect to everyone who will contribute to supporting his family, and keeping the memory of his genuinely inspiring personality and amazing talent alive by purchasing the t-shirt! 'Nothing truly good can ever be destroyed, or can ever die!'"
PAIN have issued the following update from their current European tour supporting NIGHTWISH
"Here we go again. We left Frankfurt around noon today cause we had to wait for a new driver first. The new driver arrived and our 200 kilometer journey towards Bamberg began. After two hours of driving with only 20 minutes to go we got pulled over by the police, who ordered us out of the bus and had us sit in a line at the sidewalk. They searched us one by one and had us remove socks and shoes for about 40 minutes while they searched the whole bus and turned all of our bags upside down. When they were finished they came out with a camera case and asked us who it belonged to. It contained a small plastic bag with a suspicious white powder and was owned by our new driver who of course claimed he never seen it before. Well, to make a long story short we're stuck somewhere on autobahn without a driver, it's pitch black and raining outside. We're trying to enjoy ourselves watching Terror on Elmstreet on a laptop eating cold can food with piss warm red wine. Another day off well spent. Everything taste better with Freddy Krueger."

Recently reunited Middletown, New York band My Bitter End is currently looking for a new lead guitarist, as AJ Tompkins will not be rejoining the group. Here's the official word:
"We were hoping that AJ would want to come back and write another record and play some shows, but alas, he has decided to officially part ways with My BItter End and so we are going to be trying out people for the position of lead guitar in the band. We have a few requirements that would need to be secured first though:
1. must be at least 21 yrs old
2. must have reliable equipment/transportation for practice once, sometimes twice a week
3. we're not currently planning any big tours, but we will be in the future... so being able to get time off from work every 4-8 months for 2-6 weeks would also be a plus
4. we like to party like anyone else, but no drug addicts please
5. must be able to play our material (duh)"
"If you think you fit this profile, send us a message. If you have any way of recording yourself playing our stuff that would also be killer. We look forward to hearing from you."
