TVT Records, once hailed as Billboard's top independent label will file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy this week, company head Steve Gottlieb tells Billboard.com. "This is not the end of TVT," he insists. Founded in New York in 1985, TVT rose to notoriety after releasing music by Nine Inch Nails and KMFDM. Other notable heavy artists on the label's roster have included Sevendust and Bobaflex. In recent years, however, the label has focused on hip-hop, scoring a series of hits with artists such as Lil Jon, Pitbull and Ying Yang Twins,
TVT Music Publishing will not be closed, according to Gottlieb. "That's the only part that hasn't had layoffs," says a source. "People have left and they haven't hired new replacements, but everyone I know in publishing as of yesterday is still working. Although, the people still remaining are just there to fill orders and deal with overdue accounts payable."
TuneLabMusic.com reports that Nine Inch Nails front-man Trent Reznor is delighted TVT Records has filed for bankruptcy, after falling out with the company in the early 90s. Reznor fell out with the firm following a series of disputes over producers, single releases and royalties. In 1992, the he reached an agreement with TVT allowing him to leave the label while still paying a small amount of proceeds.
Reznor can’t help but revel in the news that the company is in trouble. He wrote on his website: “You’re gonna get yours. Not ALL news in the music industry is bad these days.” The star linked his statement to an article about the collapse of TVT.

Milwaukee cops last week arrested a 19-year-old man accused of being part of a hammer- and bat-wielding mob that attacked BURY YOUR DEAD guitarist Eric Ellis after a local show.
According to BostonHerald.com, police say at least five men toting bats and hammers approached Ellis outside the club following the February 16 concert and snatched a bag of jewelry from him. Ellis chased the thieves and was assaulted, Milwaukee police spokesman Officer Bobby Lindsey said.
In a statement, the band said the attack was part of a "gang initiation." Lindsey said police have no evidence the incident was gang-related but the probe is ongoing.

OPETH frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt has recorded a guest appearance on the track "Unhealer" from the forthcoming solo album from former EMPEROR vocalist/guitarist Ihsahn, entitled "angL".
Commented Ihsahn: "We've been talking about doing something for a while and I'm really happy it finally came together. Needless to say, Mikael's performance is nothing short of amazing!"
Asgeir Mickelson and Lars Norberg (both of SPIRAL ARCHITECT) were responsible for laying down the drum and bass tracks on the CD, respectively. Ihsahn said, "Asgeir and Lars have delivered a rock-solid foundation for the whole album. Pounding blast-beats to slow fretless passages are all performed with great precision."
"angL" is tentatively due mid-spring via Mnemosyne Productions/Candlelight Records.
Ihsahn previously described the musical direction of the new CD as "a natural progression from 'The Adversary' , but with a somewhat heavier touch."
"The Adversary" entered the Norwegian album chart at position No. 33 upon its release in 2006. The CD was written and recorded over a one-year period at Symphonique Studios in Norway and features a guest appearance by Garm from ULVER on one song. All music and lyrics for "The Adversary" were written and performed by Ihsahn with exception of drums, which were played by Asgeir Mickelson (BORKNAGAR, SPIRAL ARCHITECT).

Digital channel Scuzz TV are hosting the new CAVALERA CONSPIRACY video, for the track 'Sanctuary'. Check it out below...
Roadrunner Records recently issued the following update:
The wait is over. Many said it would never happen, that Max and Iggor Cavalera, the Brazilian brothers and visionaries that formed the groundbreaking metal band SEPULTURA in 1983 would reunite to make electrifying music together again.
Despite having spent 12 years apart, the inescapable fact remains: Max and Iggor share blood and are musical soulmates. Their time away from each other fostered musical growth leading to the newly inspired metallic magic.
While the Cavalera Conspiracy and their Roadrunner Records debut Inflikted may seem like the closest we'll get to a Sepultura reunion, make no mistake - The Cavalera Conspiracy is it's own maniacal, untamable beast with its own set of rules.
Inflikted hits stores on March 25th, but right now you can head over to newburycomics.com and pre-order the record. For a limited time, everyone who pre-orders will also get a FREE CD booklet signed by Max & Iggor.
Hurry over - supplies are limited.

FROM AUTUMN TO ASHES drummer Jeff Gretz has posted this bulletin on the band's MySpace page:
"'Live At Looney Tunes'... recorded live at Looney Tunes record store in Long Island, NY in January of 2008. For those of you that were at the performance and pre-ordered a copy it's taken a little longer than the store had anticipated (it was too hard for us to approve mixes in Europe so we waited to get it situated until everyone was home). Below is the final track list for the CD. We played a handful of songs at the show that aren't on here, most of them were for them to reset the computer hard drive to capture the performances, so instead of standing around we just played songs we had no intention of including. Everything recorded was used. 10 songs, 40 minutes of live FROM AUTUMN TO ASHES. The only two songs we WANTED to put on but couldn't were 'Sugar Wolf' and 'Take Her To The Music Store' because of a glitch in the computer that didn't catch those two, but that's why we did so many, to play it safe. We ended up having Brian Mcternan mix these (you may know his recording work from the 'Biology' record and from 'Holding A Wolf By The Ears'). This should be sent off to master soon and for those of you that didn't pre-order one or weren't there... we will do our best to get you info on how to get a hold of this before they run out."
Here is the complete track listing for "Live At Looney Tunes":
02. Milligram Smile
03. Cherry Kiss
04. Everything I Need
05. Deth Kult Social Club
07. Royal Crown vs. Blue Duchess
08. No Trivia
09. Recounts And Recollections
10. Alive Out Of Habit
11. The After Dinner Payback

The Pulse of Radio reports: SYSTEM OF A DOWN vocalist Serj Tankian and PEARL JAM frontman Eddie Vedder have both contributed songs to the soundtrack of "Body of War", a new documentary about a soldier named Tomas Young who was shot and paralyzed from the waist down during his first week of duty in Iraq.
Tankian, who contributed both his own solo song "Empty Walls" and SYSTEM's "B.Y.O.B.", told Spinner.com that he was moved to participate by a letter from Young himself. He explained, "He told his story very simply, yet very powerfully, and I was extremely moved reading his letter. I was also inspired by his courage in taking a stand and speaking out. I knew right away that I wanted to get involved and help get out his message in any way I could, and what better way than through music?"
Vedder's song, "No More", was written exclusively for the film and recorded last year at the Lollapalooza festival. He told The Pulse of Radio that PEARL JAM has heard from numbers of Iraq veterans and/or their families. "We've gotten letters, I've talked to different people that have lost kids to this war," he said. "A lot of them are between the ages of 19 and 24. I'd said the majority are 19 and 25, or 26, 27. What were the reasons we went, how do we get out, when do we get out, who's profiting from this, and will we let this happen again...those are the questions that it raises for us."
The "Body of War" soundtrack also features contributions from RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE guitarist Tom Morello, Neil Young and others. The two-CD set arrives on March 18, but can be pre-ordered at bodyofwarmusic.com. The movie will also premiere sometime next month.
Serj Tankian is currently opening for FOO FIGHTERS as he tours in support of his first solo album, "Elect The Dead". Eddie Vedder will embark on his first-ever solo tour in April, in support of the soundtrack CD for the film "Into the Wild", for which Vedder wrote and recorded nine new songs. He'll begin the trek on April 2 in Vancouver.

CATARACT recently announced the addition of bassist Nico Schläpfer (END OF SUFFERING, TIMOR) to the group's ranks.
The band has scheduled a CD-release and 10th-anniversary concert on March 20 at Rohstofflager in Zürich, Switzerland.
PAIN members Peter Tägtgren (guitar/vocals), Johan Husgafvel (bass) and David Wallin (drums) were assaulted Friday night (February 22) in Leipzig, Germany during a day off on the band's European tour as the support act for NIGHTWISH. As a result, the group was forced to cancel Saturday's concert in Leipzig, but the bandmembers quickly picked themselves up and were back on stage on Sunday.
"We did the best we could," Tägtgren said of the post-attack gig, according to Sweden's The Local.
"We were the wrong people at the wrong place at the wrong time," explained Peter, who required ten stitches for cuts to his face.
As it was their day off, the singer, Husgafvel and Wallin spent the evening at some local bars.
While they were walking down the street looking for a taxi, three men attacked them from behind.
"Sometimes things like this happen. We have no idea who they were, but it was really dodgy," Tägtgren told The Local.
The bandmembers, who were taken completely by surprise, were left severely beaten and bruised.
Afterwards a passerby recognized them and drove them to the hospital.
Husgafvel suffered a broken nose and Wallin, who was hit in the head with a wine bottle, ended up with concussion and stitches to the side of his head.
"The body gets a shock. Johan is full of kicks and bruises. David and I are dizzy as hell," Tägtgren told The Local.

TO-MERA, the U.K.-based dark progressive metal band fronted by former WITHOUT FACE vocalist Julie Kiss, has parted ways with bassist Lee Barrett (ex-EXTREME NOISE TERROR, DISGUST, MUSSOLINI HEADKICK). It was a decision made at the beginning of the year and a replacement is already in place.
Commented Lee: "I've had a great time playing with the band, but unfortunately my 'real-life' work dictated that I was unable to fulfil any possible future touring or musical commitments. It was only fair to the rest of the band that I left now rather than encounter any potential scheduling conflicts at a later date. I shall hopefully still be involved behind the scenes and taking care of the band's day-to-day business as I have been before, so I'll still be sticking around."
Barrett's replacement in TO-MERA is Mark Harrington, also of DEMAGOGUE.
TO-MERA released its sophomore album, "Delusions", on February 18 via Candlelight Records.
Regarding the new CD's musical direction, Barrett previously said, "All the elements present on [last year's "Transcendental"] have been greatly expanded upon. The music will display a much greater range of moods, tempos and dynamics (ranging from fragile subtlety to epic bombast via everything in between), whilst being simultaneously more sophisticated, yet more melodic and coherent than before. Julie's vocals have become substantially more versatile and powerful. There will be loads more guitar and keyboard (even drum!) solos. But most importantly, we feel this music has a much deeper and more genuine emotional impact to it."

California-based death metallers ALL SHALL PERISH check in with the following update:
"A lot of people have been writing as well as leaving ridiculous comments on MySpace asking about the new album, so we thought we would be nice guys and drop a little ASP Recording Progress update on that ass. :)
For the past 2 - 3 months, our schedule has consisted of waking up at the crack of dawn, meeting at the practice room and creating music for 12 hours straight. We have probably created enough music and riffs to fill up 2 CDs, but after running it through the famous "ASP Shit Filter" only the best of the material will end up on the new disc. Unlike many bands, ASP have all sacrificed our lives and jobs to put in the quality time needed to make this new disc all that it can be, and trust me, this disc is going to turn some heads.
Our music is always so hard to describe, because we hate putting it in genre sub-categories... that type of labeling just dumbs down music. We have always written from the heart, rather than writing to sell records or to make it big. On a personal level these new tracks are super intense, crazy, melodic at times and are all played with extreme passion from our hearts. On top of that, Chris' solo work on the tracks so far is some of the most incredible stuff we have ever heard. That kid always blows us away with what he is capable of. By the way, have you guys visited http://www.ItsStoreyTime.com yet? GO NOW!
Have no fear loyal fans, the writing of the new CD is close to completed and we promise not to dissapoint. We head into the recording studio this April to record. Expect studio updates, as well as samples of the new material VERY SOON.
See you on the road!!"
Earache Records report:
Seminal grindcore masters CARCASS have posted a trailer from The Pathologist's Report DVD documentary series, which forms the extra bonus material on the forthcoming reissue of the Necroticism - Descanting The Insalubrious album. Check it out below...
The documentary interviews, filmed in London and Liverpool at the end of 2007, feature the main members of Carcass - Ken Owen, Bill Steer, Jeff Walker and Michael Amott - discussing in-depth the story behind the band's development from gore-soaked grind beginnings to the more refined melodic moments of their later output.

Gregg Rossetti, main composer, says about the album, “[This album] is groovier and the songs are diverse. There is less obnoxious double bass. It is more about colors and sounds and groove, rather than in your face metal. The guitars are more down tuned and heavier riffs, rather than epic. The other stuff we’ve done is more orchestral. There are orchestral parts to this album; it’s just not dominating the songs. It is there for color rather than being bombastic.”
The album was recorded and mixed at Erypsus Studios in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey. Album artwork was done by Brazilian designer Gustavo Sazes (FIREWIND, NIGHTRAGE, MYSTIC PROPHECY).
SUSPYRE released its second album, "A Great Divide", in March 2007 on Lance King's (BALANCE OF POWER, PYRAMAZE) label Nightmare Records, but due to the buyout of Navarre Distribution by Koch International, the CD's release date in the USA was delayed until September 11, 2007. SUSPYRE will be releasing a special edition of their first album, “The Silvery Image” on March 4, 2008, which will include the bonus track, “Crimson Shade.”
