CREMATORIUM, the Los Angeles purveyors of "Murdercore," has announced that guitarist and longest standing member, Mark Uehlein, will be leaving the band for personal reasons. His last show with CREMATORIUM will be this Saturday, February 27th at The Blvd in Los Angeles, CA.
Vocalist Daniel Dismal comments on the subject, "This Saturday night is going to be Mark's last show ever with CREMATORIUM. Mark has dedicated a lot of blood and sweat into playing with CREMATORIUM since 1996 and in many ways, CREMATORIUM would not have done as much as we have as a band if it was not for Mark's involvement with the band. It's a sad day to watch Mark leave but we want to give him a proper send off and let him know just how much he will be missed and how much he's actually given to the underground Metal scene as a whole."
The complete details of the show are as follows:

Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy recently finished recording the drum tracks for the upcoming Avenged Sevenfold album. Avenged Sevenfold guitarist Zacky Vengeance issued the following statement about the drum recording:
"Finished tracking drums with MP. They sound fucking amazing. Jimmy will be proud. Jimmy's also smiling knowing that Mike Portnoy has a deathbat forever tattooed on him. To show Mike that A7X is deeper then just a band I got one to match his. Jimmy would have done the same. Mike realized that our fans and friends are considered family. Being an A7X fan isn’t always easy because it means you’re not only gonna laugh with us, but cry with us and defend us on occasion. If you’re part of the family it's for life. Shads dedicated his right hand to our brother, without hesitation. I believe what we all share together is magical and wouldn't have it any other way...Ill try my best to keep you updated from the studio."

Black metal act Dark Funeral has issued the following update about kicking off the "A Declaration of Hate" European tour:
"Ave everyone! Today it’s less than 2 weeks left until we kick off our massive tour throughout Europe, a tour that we dubbed 'A Declaration of Hate - European Tour 2010.' 41 shows across 17 countries are lined up, so this will be a massive trek indeed. The tour premiere will be held in Skövde, Valhall, Sweden on March 5th, and we will round up with a hometown show (Stockholm, Sweden) on April 19th. As support, we will bring with us some truly killer acts too: Zonaria (SE), Carach Angren (NL), Nefarium (IT). On the UK dates Akercocke will join the horde, too.
"On March 3rd-4th we have rented a theater where we are going to hold some serious pre-production rehearsals. You know, to plan the last few details and make sure that everything works and goes as we’ve planned. Can’t fucking wait for that! Anyway, I’ll make sure we get some images shot from it and posted on the web, hopefully on the 4th already! We have also prepared a killer set list. And I’m absolutely sure that it’ll please both old and new fans of the band.
"Since it’s almost five years since we last toured Europe we have planned and prepared to bring out our biggest production yet. So be prepared for a HELL of a show! Not only will this be the biggest production we have ever brought out on the road, it will also be the longest tour we’ve done since 2001 (Diabolis Interium). And we’re totally looking forward to it! For those of you who haven’t got your ticket yet, you’ll find tour dates and links to where you can purchase your ticket below. See you soon!"

Bay Area thrashers Death Angel have been holed up in their Oakland, California studio for the past few months writing songs for their next Nuclear Blast release, tentatively scheduled to drop in September. The band heads into Audio Hammer Studios in Sanford, Florida in March, with producer Jason Suecof on the board to start tracking the new record.
Rob Cavestany, lead guitarist of Death Angel had this to say about plans for the new album: "Jason is one of my favorite producers churning out some of the sickest slabs of metal out there today. I am so stoked to have the chance to co-produce our next record with him. It's gonna be vicious! The band is on fire right now in the thick of pre-production and the new songs are crushing! We can't wait to start tracking!"
When asked about the hiring of Suecof, Death Angel vocalist Mark Osegueda added: "We are so excited about the opportunity to work with Jason on the upcoming album. The new material is the most aggressive and technical music we have written in years. So, we needed a producer that was capable of unleashing the tones that match and compliment the over-all vibe of the songs. With Jason’s experience in producing some of the most brutal contemporary metal artists and albums of today I know we made the right choice! I think the collaboration between the two of us will prove to be venomous and infectious! It will be Death Angel's first album ever recorded outside of our home state of California. We will be heading out to Jason's very own Audio Hammer studios for total immersion into what, I can guarantee, will be the heaviest Death Angel album to date!"

Steel Assassin has issued the following update about working on a new album:
"Hello friends from Steel Assassin! We played a killer show 2/20 with friends Meliah Rage, Ravage, and Mob Hit at Whiplash in Stoughton, MA. The attendance and enthusiasm of the crowd was huge!! And we hope this will herald a new resurrgence in the old school traditional Power Metal /Thrash movement. If it can happen here, it can happen anywhere and everywhere. This must seem strange to our friends and fans in Europe, So. America and elsewhere because the Metal scene has always been strong. But here in the U.S. things have changed a great deal since the ‘80s.
"Our latest CD, 'In Hellfire Forged' has been selling well. High Roller Records has released a limited collector’s edition of the recording, and is almost sold out. Our video 'Burn Witch Burn' is getting some playing time in various Metal shows around The World. Now the band is getting ready to record our latest CD, 'Metal of Honor: WWII.' Those of you who have purchased 'In Hellfire Forged' have heard a little preview of the upcoming CD with the inclusion of the song 'Breakout at St. Lo,' which was the first song for the new WWII that we had written. Denmark's As We Fight has issued the following update about working on new material:
"You might ask yourself; are the boys in As We Fight working hard or are they hardly working? And it’s a fair question. With Jesper handing in his resignation in early September last year, one might think that this must be the end of it (read official statement below). But what seemed as lethal dose turned out to be pure EPO. We played a handful for killer shows as a quintet (one of which was given a 6/6 review) and it felt great and gave us the confidence to continue as a five piece.
"So right now we’re working hard on new rocking material with the tentative project title 'Rockcore.' Hopefully we’ll be ready for a late spring release, but we won’t just dash some mediocre metal off. We’re going to take the time needed for this material to be just the way we want it. And we will definitely try to keep everyone up to date on the process with news post, video clips, diaries etc., but please help us out by keeping an eye on our (almost) brand new Twitter page. We’re furthermore thrilled to announce that we have landed a gig supporting Underoath at Pumpehuset March 21st. Kick ass!!!" More...
California's Draconian Winter has issued the following update about recruiting a new drummer:
"It is unfortunate to inform you that Daniel Larsen is hereby no longer a member of Draconian Winter. The split was 100% mutual and there is absolutely no bad blood between us. He's an amazing drummer and will continue using his talent to the fullest. Be on the look out for his up and coming progressive band, Oracle. It'll blow you away.
"Having said that, we have now officially begun searching for a new drummer. If you or someone you know might be interested, send us a message and tell us a bit about yourself and your experience. Links to your previous work would be a huge plus! More...
U.S. power metallers In Virtue have issued the following update about recording a new album:

The album will be a loose concept album about the end of the world and will contain about 12 songs. The band has already laid down the drum tracks at Prairie Sun Recording studios in Cotati, CA with engineer Jason D'Ottavio (Shrapnel Records) and will be recording the remaining tracks over the next several months."
In Virtue guitarist and composer Trey Xavier also commented: "This album has been a long time coming. We've been sitting on these songs for over a year and now we get to do it right. These are our fastest and heaviest songs to date, and I am confident that this album will be a treat for fans of all kinds of metal. The album is due out sometime in mid- to late 2010, and the band is currently seeking a label to release it."

"Finally after 4 days in the studio I'm done with drum recordings on this Revengia album. Initially it was 12 songs to be recorded but we ended up with 14 tracks because we had plenty of time left.
