Kip Winger could have been a member of Kiss. I am basing this notion on body hair alone. As the number of eighties bands grew, Winger was one of the bands that started the “too much” movement eventually breaking in the early nineties. This was foreshadowed by the Beavis & Butthead character Stewart wearing a Winger shirt as a sign of being weak and available for jokey punch lines. More...

Thinning the Herd's drummer passed away late last year, and now the band has checked in with the following update about auditioning for a new member:
"We want to thank all the people we auditioned, and those who are still in the final rounds.
"We have been moving our studio - a cathartic action after losing Rick, which has taken up all the bands time. The momentum and time spent with Rick C. was irreplaceable. We took a lot of it for granted, as our sound was so easy and meshed. As we audition, the work needed to get back to where we were is an uphill climb.
"We were so tight, we didn't have anything to change when we ran the set. We were into the groove, finding nuances and inflections only present to those in the moment and kinetically balanced through sound.
"The finalized art hasn't been approved - and a bored Gavin has already started writing the next record. Looks like we aren't going to release this record until April."
Essence, Hellish Crossfire, Bleeding Red, and Justice have been newly confirmed for the Beastival Open Air 2013. NoiseArt Records also comments on the fest:

"The line up that will enter two stages already looks like a wet dream come true. Beside Sabaton, Wintersun, Kataklysm, Satyricon, and many other bands the 'Big Teutonic 4' Kreator, Sodom, Destruction, and Tankard have been announced.
"More info about Beastival, the bands and how to get your tickets including limited fan packs (ticket, T-Shirt + NoiseArt CD of your choice) at the festival's website or through Hardticket.eu." More...
Virgina-based symphonic black / death metal act Warthrone - featuring drummer and guitarist Erik Sayenga (ex-drums for Dying Fetus, Witch-hunt, and session musician for Obliterhate) along with Kristel (ex-Witch-Hunt) and Richard Johnson (ex-Witch-Hunt) - are hard at work finalizing their new full length album which is slated to be released early summer 2013. The band comments:
"This is the only release since our debut EP 'Ghoststorm Eulogy' in 2005. Recording is finished and is in the mixing stages now. Fans that can appreciate a unique mixture of styles such as Dimmu Borgir, Old Man's Child, Naglfar, Marduk, Dark Tranquillity to Putrid Pile, Cannibal Corpse, and Obituary take note!
"This release promises to deliver brutality, relentless drumming and sick vocals while retaining a sense of song structure and incorporating the different styles of extreme music. We don't consider ourselves one specific style. We are inspired by many death and black metal bands we love and listen to daily, and the influence is something that naturally ends up in our songwriting."
The CD will be self released and the band will be in the search of licensing the album. Check out the band's Facebook page here for a new preview track.

The song delivers an array of vocal styles, with melodic, grim and spoken words coming courtesy of Vintersorg and aggressive vocals by Athera. Vintersorg had this to say about "The Greatest Offender" and his contribution to the track:
"The song has several faces and an adventurous approach which I simply love. From the calm opening with the 'clean' atmosphere towards a more aggressive realm and then ending up in the same calmness. In between all this you'll find these epic parts that was just meant for my way of thinking when it comes to vocals."
The song is now playing on the Bravewords audio player, which can be launched from the site's homepage by going to the Okular heading in the left column. "Sexforce" will be self-released on March 4th. More...
