Fear Factory today confirms the band's first tour dates for 2012. Set to begin in San Antonio on May 1st, the tour’s initial dates include stops in Dallas, Philadelphia, New York City, Baltimore, and Denver among others.
Joining Fear Factory for the tour is Boston’s Shadows Fall, Kansas City-based The Browning, Riverside, California’s The Devastated, and Legacy Of Disorder from New Zealand. The tour will precede the release of Fear Factory’s new album titled "The Industrialist."
Fear Factory recently announced the addition of bass player Matt DeVries. The Ohio native previously noted, “I have been asked to join one of my favorite bands. I have been a fan of Fear Factory since 1992 and I could not be more excited to be part of this incredible band.” Guitarist Dino Cazares and vocalist Burton C. Bell noted, “we are very excited to have Matt playing bass for Fear Factory. We feel he is a great addition to our touring line-up. He has been a friend for a very long time and he is a great musician who will be a perfect instrument in the FF machine.”
With rehearsals for the tour expected to start soon, the members of Fear Factory are finishing details on their forthcoming new album expected for release early summer. Greg Reely has now completed the album’s mix. All that remains is final artwork and packaging. Regarding the new material, Cazares and Bell affirm, “this album perfectly captures the true nature of Fear Factory. The industrial/metal blend is a strong return to our original concept for Fear Factory." More...
Phoenix, Arizona metal miscreants Toad are set to embark on a live takeover next month. The punishment will begin on March 2nd in Tempe and wind its way through 15 cities before coming to a ceremonial close in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The band will be joined by a host of eclectic bands throughout the tour including Lo-Pan, Sons Of Tonatiuh, Black Market Ministry and more.
Commented the band in a collective statement: “TOAD has long been preparing for this moment, and the time has finally come. This journey will lead us into uncharted territory and will spark the widespread corruption of anyone and everyone that is either willing or unfortunate enough to participate. We are confident that this experience will be only the beginning of the debauchery and mayhem that is yet to come.”
TOAD — short for “Take Over And Destroy” — will be touring in support of the five track "Rotten Tide" EP, self-released last year. Flaunting a fully analog recording, the monolithic offering was produced by Bob Hoag at Flying Blanket Recording and features the exclusive use of vintage gear from the ‘60s and ‘70s to create “a true rock ‘n’ roll sound.”

Daemonicus has checked in with the following announcement about returning to the Balkans after a disastrous tour in 2010 in which the band's van was broken into:
"During winter early 2010 Daemonicus headed for a tour on the Balkans supporting Negura Bunget. The disaster-ridden tour contained a robbery and people freezing to death outside the of the accommodations, but did also let the band evolve as a live act to be reckoned with.
"The noted robbery of the band's own van took place in Greece outside a 'squat,' i.e an area illegally (and by force) occupied by students. But this was far from the only misfortune to take place during the three weeks of touring:
* Cancelled shows after driving more than 1000 km on one night.
* Seventeen citizens (17!) froze to death during one cold night in the Transylvania area, with temperatures reaching 32 degrees below zero.
* A tour van with almost no heating, and later on without front window and rear view mirrors.
* A stolen passport, resulting in the driver being left in Greece while the band went to Bulgaria to perform a gig. More...

Talk around rival bands Mushroomhead and Slipknot touring together is heating up. During a Q&A on a recent show of "An Evening with Corey Taylor," Corey was asked about the possibility of doing a tour with Mushroomhead, surprisingly Taylor answered with a "maybe" bringing some boos until he explained:
"My problem has never been with that band, at the time my problem was with his fans. The first time we played Cleveland fans came down, did not say shit and his f...ans down and threw stones against us. They beat Paul in the face with a padlock the size of my fist; This while we were on stage. When we finished playing, we took all our shit and went to the hearing. There were plenty of them, but we were all nine of us, was Machine Head and all our friends for a group called Amen. - Say you just take care of the damn thing right there. "
Corey explained on the proposed tour with Mushroomhead:
"I would welcome. I love to do something well, you know. Especially now. I think it would be nice to ride something together and see that shit happens. Slipknot, Mushroomhead, GWAR and Mudvayne's cursed. Because if one thing I learned is that do not cling to a stupid shit, let it go. "
On the other hand, Mushroomhead has also seen the good side of this, published in their official Facebook message:
"Jeffrey Nothing (vocals) ... Honestly, I think Paul would have wanted this to happen and JJ (John Sekula, guitarist Mushroomhead who died in October 2010) as well. Seriously, let's do this 'thing' becomes a reality, join the group!"
As a sign that the bands' relationship is on the mend, a show has been announced featuring members from both bands and their side projects. Here are the details:
Tuesday, April 17th Peabody's in Cleveland, OH
#0 Sid Wilson from Slipknot DJ Set
Stitch From Mushroomhead DJ Set
Nothing (Jeffrey Nothing's side project; first Show in North America)
Tenafly Viper (Waylon's Side Project)
Fans are showing their support for the bands coming together to tour via a Facebook page dedicated to the cause. Slipknot's manager reportedly contacted the Mushroomhead camp and said if they can get enough likes on the facebook page, the tour would be a go.

The track listing is as follows:
7. Sirius B
The following press release was also issued about the band:
"Incoming Cerebral Overdrive first emerged with their debut Cerebral Heart (Myphonic Records, 2008) which was characterized by a ferocious energy that has stayed with them to this day. However it was their union with Supernatural Cat and the 2009 album Controverso where they defined and honed their unique sound into something all the more dynamic. Their style on one hand was contemporary, heavy, furious and dirty, whilst also acknowledging and embracing Italy's progressive musical past. Controverso really was the first step in a more focused direction. More...
Finnish folk band Korpiklaani announced a new European tour for April 2012 and introduced new fiddler Tuomas Rounakari who joined the band. The band's forthcoming album "Kunnia" is scheduled for release on July 18th (Finland) and July 20th (World) through Nuclear Blast Records.
The band made the following post on their Facebook page about the addition of Rounakari:
We took Tuomas aboard when we noticed that he was actually the only sensible choice for us. We had already thought of him before but were always afraid that he'd be too busy to join us, because Korpiklaani demands much time from every band member. When we finally asked him, he replied that it'd be an exciting challenge and big chance for him, so he agreed to take over the fiddle for us - we're more than happy about his decision! At the moment the whole band is gathered in the studio where we've recently entered the final stage of recording, with Jonne laying down his vocal lines and only a few folk parts waiting to be recorded. If all goes to plan, the album will be ready for mixing at the end of March.

In an interview that came out today in L.A. Weekly, Dave Mustaine made some rather limiting comments about African women who have too many children. Below is an excerpt from that interview conducted by reporter Linda Leseman, the Megadeth frontman has the following comments:
"There's so many houses without a dad that it's just terrible. I mean, you know how they used to say there should be a license to have a baby? Well, as far-fetched as that sounds, I really think that, if the parents aren't going to stick together, they shouldn't make that kind of commitment to life. I watch some of these shows from over in Africa, and you've got starving women with six kids. Well, how about, you know, put a plug in it? It's like, you shouldn't be having children if you can't feed them."
Mustaine also discusses how Bible prophecies are coming true, how he watches cooking shows and how Rick Santorum is the classiest of all the Republican candidates. Read the full interview by going here.
Guitarist/vocalist Helmuth Lehner, of extreme metal commando Belphegor, has revealed that the group is working on fresh material for an upcoming tenth full-length album.
The as of yet untitled record is tentatively slated for a late 2012 release, and will be the follow up to January 2011´s "Blood Magick Necromance" (reviewed here). From this coming Saturday until next Wednesday, Belphegor will start the first rehearsal session for the album in Abtenau, Austria. The drum duties will again be handled by Mr. Marthyn, who performed on Blood Magick Necromance.
“It’s amazing to have the opportunity to be creative again and compose a new audible monster," commented Helmuth. “I begun the compositions in November 2011, after I had to spend five weeks in the hospital and 6 weeks in a rehabilitation center because of my health issues. I survived this hard trial, which still seems unreal. I’m not fully recovered but feel way better now, I can say. Unfortunately we had to cancel all tours until June 2012, when we will get back on the road, and will start with some European open air rituals."
"At this time, we don’t feel the pressure of a hard touring schedule and all the rigors surrounding that,” stated bass devastator Serpenth., “The way we can concentrate and create these arrangements in a completely focused way and can even put more energy, blood and guts inside. We are working intensely on ten tracks. We are totally concentrated, you know, the musick reigns above all. Magick. It’s time for a new chapter."

We’re also giving fans the opportunity to spend an incredible amount of personal time with us face-to-face in order to bring us very close to our fans in a very personal and meaningful way.
The additional dates added are as follows:

With less than a month to go, MyChildren MyBride is marching toward the release of the band's new self-titled album, available online and in stores everywhere March 13th via Solid State Records.
Today the band has unveiled a new track titled "God of Nothing," which can be heard at this location.
"With 'God of Nothing' we weren't afraid to try something weird and new," explains vocalist Matthew Hasting. "The guys wrote one of the heaviest songs we've ever released as a band and I tried anything and everything vocally. The result is a song that is dark, grimy, eerie and one of our favorites off the new album. Lyrically the song deals with our souls being bought with the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. This is the birth of a new possibilities with MCMB and we hope fans like it!"
For MyChildren MyBride, the self-titled album represents a new chapter for the band, and stamps the advent of a refined sound the members have been chasing since MCMB's inception. "That's exactly what this album is, a new beginning," says guitarist Robert Bloomfield. "I really do feel we found our sound. It's definitely MCMB still, but with this new flare that we've all loved and understood but never figured out a way to translate it to our music. I feel like everything we've done as a band all comes together in this one record. It's the best album in our career so far." More...
German thrashers Exumer have been confirmed to play a series of live shows in South America in June, 2012. The trek will take the band through Argentina Chile and Brazil. Exumer's Danish thrash masters Artillery are joining them on the whole tour. This is Exumer's first appearance in South American in 24 years, where the band last played in Brazil in 1988.
Vocalist Mem V. Stein comments: "We have been waiting for this moment for a long, long time! It's a huge milestone in our career to return to Brazil after 24 years, where there are numerous online communities that wholeheartedly embrace EXUMER and where our fans have been loyally following us since our first appearances in the 1980s. There could hardly be a more cult tour package, between EXUMER and ARTILLERY, to hit South America and the timing could not be better for us to return there shortly after the release of our new album."
Exumer's first new album in 25 years, "Fire And Damnation," will be released via Metal Blade Records in April 2012.
Artillery's Michael Stützer Comments: "Artillery are looking forward to come to South America to play for some of the most dedicated thrashers in the world. Vision of Disorder has issued the following announcement about signing on with Candlelight Records:
"Before the word 'Metalcore' existed… Vision Of Disorder did. We did what we did because WE loved it, not because we thought others might. 20 years later we’re, once again, at work with the same approach. After a newly inked deal on Candlelight Records, we are about to begin tracking on our first studio album in a decade. We are bringing all the elements of what made us unique and ferocious to the table. Playing reunion shows over the past few years and seeing such positive responses has truly been inspirational. This album is absolutely dedicated to our fans that have stuck by us through our ups and downs. Without them, it would not have been."
The band will start recording the as-yet-untitled album in the next month or so with Will Putney (Shadows Fall, Suicide Silence, Four Year Strong) and Cameron Webb (Motorhead, Social Distortion, Ignite, Pennywise) will be handling mixing of the album.

Behemoth is twelve shows into the band's European tour now alongside with Cannibal Corpse, Legion Of The Damned, Misery Index, Suicide Silence and Nexus Inferi. Nergal has just sent in his thoughts on shows Behemoth have played so far:
"We are in the middle of this tour and on behalf of the band I must state that's probably the best European run we've done ever! And it's not just courtesy but a fact. Never seen European venues so crowded and enthusiastically reacting to our show. I know, we've been away for a while, the band's future was a big question mark and if you ask me, I have to say I was seriously worried If I can pull it off at all.
"Now I can finally admit: Fuck yes! I can still get my ass on stage and give my blood, sweat and heart to the people who truly deserve that. These 'return' shows have some transcendental touch to it and I can't get rid of the feeling, it's a new life injected in band's veins. I am proud. Of my band, myself and all the fans coming to the shows. Thank you. Stay strong and see you soon!"

It appears there is trouble in the Suffocation camp as drummer Michael Smith is apparently having differences with other band mates. Other news sources indicate that he has left the band entirely, but there has been no official word from the band or label Nuclear Blast as of yet. However, it is clear from the following statement on Smith's Facebook page, that he is not pleased with the founding members:
There are not many things related to the suffocation brand I can honestly say brings me sadness. Except, the lack of pride that exists within those who have the “right” to claim the name as their own.More...
This battle has been one that to any focused being, should make obvious sense but has evaded some for 2 decades. Within any foundation the weakest link will always cause all structure to crumble.
The one fact that keeps me at peace is the fact that anyone who has ever seen or spoken to me regarding Suffocation and the industry as a whole, has always left with an understanding of the level of focus and pride that I personally hold for myself, the brand that is Suffocation and the genre We influence and helped create.
As I´ve always said, if you are willing to put your time and soul towards anything at
Be willing to speak truths, fight and bleed for it if need be.

British rockers Voodoo Six have checked in with the following announcement about recording a new album:
"Recording started this week on the 3rd album. We have been writing the new songs over the past few months and are really excited to get them down.
"We are recording live in the studio to capture the feel of each song and it's working great. A lot of modern recording uses a click track to control the tempo of the songs but we wanted to capture that special something that can only happen when you hear 'rolling' and the band launches into a performance.
"We are recording in Barnyard studio Essex UK. A fantastic mix of vintage and modern equipment, where 3 Iron Maiden albums were recorded in the 1990's."
While work on the album progresses, you can check out a previously posted music video from Voodoo Six titled "Falling Knives" at this location.
Anthrax, Testament, and Death Angel recently wrapped up their second leg of U.S. tour dates earlier this month. Baltimore was the second to last stop, on February 7th, and after missing the first leg of the tour in Silver Spring, Maryland, a show at Ram's Head Live was one I couldn't pass up. Despite having stopped in Silver Spring not too long ago, Ram's Head Live was packed pretty close to capacity, if not sold out.
The crowd was noticably older - mostly in their upper thirties and fourties - and for once I didn't feel like the old guy at a metal show. That is, until I saw those who made the show a family affair and brought their teenagers or younger kids. It seemed a little surreal, but bringing my teenage sons is something I could see myself doing in the not too distant future.
When I arrived, Death Angel was already well into their set, despite it being five minutes before they were supposed to take the stage. Having missed the opportunity to photograph the band, I grabbed a beer and enjoyed experiencing their brand of old school thrash. While Death Angel has been around since the 80's thrash scene, I didn't grow up listening to them like the "big 4," so this was my first time seeing the band live. More...

Swedish power metal band FullForce, featuring former HammerFall guitarist Stefan Elmgren, announced that guitarist CJ Grimmark has departed the band. His replacement will be Ex-Dawn of Oblivion guitarist Stefan Rosqvist.
The announcement on the band's Facebook page reads as follows:
A few months ago guitarplayer CJ Grimmark decided to leave FULLFORCE due to some changes in his life situation which he had to put priority to. The band wishes CJ all their best for his future and they are still very good friends and it wasn't an easy decision for Grimmark to leave the band.
During the last few months FullForce have been focusing on writing the songs for their second album and also searching for the best possible replacement for CJ both musically and personally. Finally the search is over and FullForce is happy and proud to introduce guitar ace Stefan Rosqvist (ex Dawn Of Oblivion, Lale Larsson) to you. Stefan Rosqvist is a very talented, versatile guitarist and musician and the band is really excited to have him on board. FullForce have almost finished the songwriting for their yet untitled second album and is planning to enter the recording studio during this upcoming summer.
A public statement was issued by the departing Grimmark as follows:
A few months ago I informed my great friends in FullForce that I had come to the conclusion that it's time for me to step aside and let someone else fill my spot in the band. As much as I have enjoyed every moment I spent with the Mike, Anders, Stefan and Tommy and their families, I realized that I can't really contribute with the same focus anymore. [I] will not quit making music and I sure hope to see the people that I have had the chance to meet while being on the road with FF, again a.s.a.p.
To the guys in the band: THANK YOU for the great deal of fun I've had with You on the road, on rehearsals, while shooting videos etc etc.
Mike - Your enthusiasm goes way beyond that of most other people, and so does Your voice!
Anders - Your huge musical talent and sense of humor is WORLD CLASS - You're one of a kind and one of my musical heroes!
Stefan - It was an honor to be on this boat with You. Your combined skills as songwriter/ player/entertainer (on stage and in private:), backed up by true professionalism, taught me a lot.
Tommy - thanks for Your kindness, positivity, loyalty and solid bassplaying. You will be missed!
I truly wish You the very best! I feel honored to be replaced by such a talented player as Stephan Rosqvist. Best of luck and congratulations to You!
God bless, over and out!

With some after parties of legendary proportions at one of Helsinki’s many metal bars, I have to admit waking up was not so easy Saturday morning. And then I remembered it was day two of the expo, and went on my merry way back downtown. Day two of the expo would ring in the Finnish metal awards as well as many more bands, with the headliners today being Stam1na and Turisas. More...
After being in Finland for a full year now, I once again was able to attend the annual Finnish Metal Expo in Helsinki. A good omen for the weekend was the fact that for the first time in weeks, the weather was not so freezing that my fingers would be tempted to fall off.
Perhaps a difference from last year, that I had noticed immediately was the fact the exhibition itself had shrunk a bit. Less guests, and less retail stands of course means smaller crowds and I wondered just what that would mean for the rather exciting lineup this year, which featured Swallow the Sun, ICS Vortex, Turisas and many more!
