Nightrage has checked in from their Greek tour with the following road report:
"After a couple of days on beautiful Crete, we flew back to the slightly colder mainland and headed straight for the small east coast town of Lamia. Even though the modest size of the city, it did indeed deliver!! We did a headlining show for a crazy audience that truly gave 1000% and proved Lamia to be the best gig thus far of the tour. For you who attended any of our shows during this tour, you will remember Marios' introduction of the rest of the band members. Being in Greece and all, we thought it suitable to use Greek names as a way to blend in more with the culture.
"The next show on the list was in Larisa, once again with Septicflesh as headliners and as usual on this tour, our Athens rocker friends in Lucky Funeral. For some reason, Anders had managed to totally screw up one of his basses but some nice fellas in a music store in Larisa kindly fixed it for free. More...

Horse the Band has issued the following update about releasing a six DVD set from their Earth Tour:
"EARTH TOUR Photo Book/6-DVD Set Preliminary Info This thing is happening and it is happening soon. Preliminary details:
"15 hours (our goal) of HD footage, taken from 120 hours of raw footage resulting in 6 DVDs showing the countries we visited, the people we met, the shows we played, what we drank and ate, everything crazy and funny and sad that happened, and most importantly, us. Think of this not as a DVD or movie, but more like a novel in video form. Something you spend a lot of time with to reap a greater artistic reward for your soul. A Rock Odyssey, but something even greater, as Rock is only one of many parts of the equation!
"1 live DVD: Every song we played on tour, each song's footage and audio comes from a different show in a different country. The DVDs will be nestled into the back cover of a hard-cover full color photo book. This will be either 50 or 100 pages. It's going to be 8 1/2" by 11" so it's big but still fits on your bookshelf. The books will be one of a kind with actual tour artifacts (ticket stubs, fliers, plane tickets) incorporated (sewn, pasted) into each. The books will be hand-bound (professionally, it will NOT fall apart, they will look and feel exactly like any book you buy in a store, quality-wise) and will be very beautiful and special items. Denver's Cryogen has issued the following announcement about recruiting a new guitar player:
"We're happy to welcome Chris Ghigliotty to the Cryogen family! He will be filling the second guitar spot. We felt freeing up Darkness to focus on vocals was the best move for the band and will help us achieve a tighter live sound. Chris was the best fit out of everyone we auditioned for the spot. Chris comes from former Colorado metal band Followed by Silence, who our drummer Aaron was a part of as well.
"Chris joined us at our CD release for his first show with the band. You can find more pics from the show HERE."

Ihsahn has been one of the figureheads of black metal for almost two decades. From his time with the mighty Emperor to his current solo project, the frontman has had a hand in some of the best albums in black metal history. On his third solo album, “After,” Ihsahn incorporates unfamiliar elements into his core sound, including eight-string guitars and saxophone melodies. I recently had the opportunity to speak with Ihsahn about the new album, illegal downloading, and the possibility of touring the US. More...

Megadeth front man Dave Mustaine has issued the following update about their upcoming tour dates:
"Droogies! Five more days and I will be standing in a hotel room getting ready to start my day again on the 2010 Megadeth World Tour. I know that I have said that there was not much gas left in the tank over the years, and I know I have a reputation for changing my mind, but we all do that, its just my choices are more public than most of y'alls. I can't tell you how rewarding it has been to make a new start with David Ellefson, and I can't tell you all of the other people that I have come across that are happy for me, for us, for Megadeth, and for Heavy Metal.
"This changing of my mind was not so much 'me' changing my mind, as it was the spiritual renewal of my mind, and having a new outlook on life for the past few years that has really never had a chance to be publicly displayed. This is not about me or my growth, it is about the powerful healing of forgiveness. I am really more grateful for David forgiving me for whatever I had done that harmed him or his family.
"I am very grateful for everything that has led up to us being reunited in the studio and soon to be on the stage. From Southern Gentleman James MacDonough, with his edgy bass playing, unstoppable energy, and his upbeat disposition to James Lomenzo, who also had a unique style of holding down the bottom end, while teaching us all how to continue through the mundane touring life and maintaining class, dignity, and respect for everyone. Soilwork frontman, Björn 'Speed' Strid, has checked in with the following studio blog:
"It has been an intense start on this recording, we grabbed the songs by the balls and we are currently recording rhythm guitars. The sound is absolutely amazing, more ‘meat’ than ever before, we have slightly more distortion but deadly precision. As you have figured, Dirk has already hammered in the drums and I gotta say it’s definitely his best performance ever. Absolutely jaw dropping! I’ve been very focused on finishing the lyrics, really have a lot to tell and channel this time. It’s turned out to be very personal but very relieving to bring out what’s been stuck in my head for two years, which has been probably been the two hardest years in my life. To drop a few song titles: 'The Thrill,' 'Late for the Kill, Early for the Slaughter,' 'The Akuma Afterglow,' 'Let this River Flow,' 'Where Angels Fear to Tread,' '2 Lives Worth of Reckoning'... Ladies and gents, it’s gonna be intense. More...

We've been talking to bands and fans everywhere to get their favorite mosh pit stories. This week Phoenix, Arizona post-hardcore/metalcore band blessthefall's lead singer Beau Bokan shares a "heart-warming" pit story:
"So we're on tour with Silverstein, playing a show in Denver, Co and it's a packed house. Kids are getting rowdy. I could tell there were a couple obvious 'tough guys' in the crowd who were getting a little too excited. So I was keeping an eye on them. Before you know it, two dudes were in each other's faces and one of the guys throws a punch totally knocking the other one down. I made the band stop playing immediately. I told both of the dudes that if they were going to fight they could go outside and finish fighting otherwise they would have to hug each other if they wanted to stay in the show. So they hugged it out and the show went on. It felt awesome to make 2 strangers who were at each other's throats ACTUALLY hug it out just to stay in the show and see them have a good time."
blessthefall recently announced that they will headline The Bangover Tour this March/April with support from Miss May I, Greeley Estates and Before Their Eyes. The U.S. and Canadian run follows up their slot on The Atticus Tour late last year.
Check back every Tuesday for more tales from the mosh pit.

“So we are finally home from probably the best tour we have ever been on and we’re all ready to go again! Actually, if we could just rewind and do this one over again minus the van break-ins, extracurricular head injuries, and a couple really unfortunate meals (with consequences), it would be basically perfect. Christian rockers Stryper recently revealed that they will be recording an all covers album from secular bands that influenced them. Stryper's Michael Sweet has issued the following statement about the decision to record the album:
"Hey Everyone, it seems that our decision to do a cover record has pleased many people, but has upset a small number of people as well. We've never been a band to go with the flow - we've always set out to do our own thing and to do it according to how we feel led. Some agree, some disagree. It's always been this way. We didn't grow up in the church, we grew up on the streets of LA so our approach to spreading God's word doesn't always line up with how others think it should be done. The bottom line is this - we have not turned our backs on our faith or our beliefs, we just want to loosen up a bit and show our fans how we came to be musically. We we're heavily influenced by a number of bands back in the 70's and early 80's and these bands helped to shape our sound and style. This is the purpose of this record, to show you how we evolved over the years and more important - to have a little fun in the process.
"The band is looking forward to cutting lose a bit and performing the music we grew up with. I'm sorry to hear that there are a few negative Nancy's who believe that we're turning our back on God and our faith. This couldn't be further from the truth. The fact is that we are stronger and even more serious about our faith then we've ever been before. God knows our hearts and our motives. We don't endorse any of these bands or the message they present or their lifestyles. We just want to play some amazing songs and hopefully break down some walls and open some doors along the way. We will continue to honor God in all that we do and say and we can only hope and pray that the few of you who have expressed your disappointment will open your minds and your hearts to what God can do with this record. Let's not limit God...."
Your Demise, who recently posted a video of guitarist Ozzy Porkchop experiencing a stun gun shock, have now stated that they were held at gun point by Canadian police on the way into the U.S. Stu Paice of Your Demise issued the following statement:
"As we headed our back into America from Canada, we decided to head to to Tim Hortons for the Last time before we entered the states. Shortly after leaving, everyone was full of bagels and coffee, Drifting of to sleep, our rest was interrupted by the sound of 3 Canadian Police Cars. Sirens blasting, we pulled over completely baffled as to why we where being stopped as we had done nothing wrong.
"So we stopped at the side of the free-way to the sound of, ‘Driver, get out of the car now’, at this point we had no clue what was going on. So danny gets out and they tell him to stick his hands up and turn around, walk toward the car, we then saw a Police man stick a Gun in Danny back and drag him to the car, Handcuff him and put him the back of the Police car. so we now mental stuff was going through our heads. Next they shouted for the passenger (Pumpjack) to get out, Same thing, GUN, HANDCUFFS, CAR BONNET!.
"We started to giggle nervously and heard, ‘All of you , Get out’, so we got out and we were told to put our hands in the air and get down on our knees, the whole time, we where held a Gunpoint by 2 Scumbags. So we get out in the freezing snow, on the ground and the cop starts to search the van, i mean it was like 24 Jack Bauer shit.
"They soon began clear, that they had the wrong people and found it to be a bit of a misunderstanding. So it turns out the car infront of us, well the driver had just shot someone, and we had basically just missed it happen. The Police where responding to it and thought it was us, when in theory they got the wrong car/van. So an eventful last night in Canada." More...
