To herald the start off their 2006-2007 world tour, IRON MAIDEN have announced their Scandinavian Tour dates for November. In an attempt to satisfy the insatiable demand, this will include multiple dates in Stockholm and Helsinki following the massive success of last summer's concerts in Scandinavia where all 95,000 tickets sold out almost immediately and where they made history in Gothenburg by selling out all 55,000 tickets for Ullevi Stadium in just two and half hours! The concert was also transmitted all across Scandinavia on terrestrial television. This will be MAIDEN's 10th appearance at Gothenburg's Scandinavium — yet another record breaker which no other band, international or domestic, has surpassed in the venues history.
The dates are as follows:
Nov. 09 - Aalborg, DEN @ Gigantium
Nov. 10 - Copenhagen, DEN @ Valby
Nov. 12 - Tampere, FIN @ Icehall
Nov. 14 - Helsinki, FIN @ Hartwall arena
Nov. 15 - Helsinki, FIN @ Hartwall arena
Nov. 17 - Stockholm, SWE @ Globen
Nov. 18 - Stockholm, SWE @ Globen
Nov. 20 - Gothenburg, SWE @ Scandinavium
Nov. 21 - Oslo, NOR @ Valhalla
Nov. 23 - Bergen, NOR @ Vestlandshallen
Tickets for the Oslo and Bergen shows will go sale on Saturday, February 25 at 10:00 a.m. Tickets for Sweden and Finland will go on sale for at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, February 27 while the Danish dates will go on sale at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 27.
The IRON MAIDEN Fan Club have made special arrangements with EMA Telstar and their Associates to allow 120 of their fan-club members to gain special entry to each concert, which will allow them to get right at the front of the stage! Full details of this exciting offer will be available here on www.ironmaiden.com in March.
Due to production considerations there will be no support act on the first two tour dates in Denmark but on all the other dates MAIDEN have confirmed up-and-coming U.S. band TRIVIUM as their special guests.
IRON MAIDEN are currently writing material for their new, as yet untitled fourteenth studio album which will be released later in the year prior to the tour. The live show will of course include new album material, and will be in full MAIDEN tradition — spectacular stage production, sound and lights ... and, of course, Eddie!!
Says Steve Harris, "We had a fantastic time and a lot of fun last year playing songs from our early albums. However, MAIDEN is all about pushing ourselves creatively and keeping fresh, so we're all charged up to make a great studio album together with Kevin Shirley and take it out on the road at the end of the year."
These Scandinavian dates herald the start of MAIDEN's new album world tour which will take them around parts of Europe through to Christmas, playing selected dates in other parts of the world in the New Year.
Swiss extreme metallers AMOK have completed work on their full-length debut, "Lullabies of Silence", for an April release. The CD was recorded and mixed at the RecStudio in Geneva by Serge Morattel, and was mastered by Alan Douches (MASTODON, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, MISFITS, RUN DMC, CLUTCH, BAD BRAINS, etc.) at West West Side Music. The release party will take place at L'Usine in Geneva on April 26.
AMOK's most recent mini-CD, "Hephaistos", was recorded in August 2004.
Former CELTIC FROST guitarist Ron Marks, who had previously publicly stated that he would "practically swim to Switzerland to be in CELTIC FROST again," has issued a statement commenting on the band's recent split with guitarist Erol Unala.
Said Marks: "I've been flooded with emails and phone messages about the current situation with CELTIC FROST. I'm quite flattered that so many are thinking of me and I thank you all. As I'd said previously, I still hold a very warm spot in my heart for the band and for Tom [Fischer, guitar/vocals] and Martin [Ain, bass] as friends. Should they be willing to have me back, I would certainly be interested in discussing it with them. I have no idea if they're at home or out somewhere doing promo but Tom has my phone number and email address should he choose to contact me.
"Thanks again all those who've extended their kind words and wishes. As always, we'll hope for the best."
Ron can be reached at email@example.com.
Marks is currently his own project called SUBSONIC, whose sophomore album, "No Such Soul", is available worldwide from Sonic Wave International. The follow-up to 2002's "Super-Vel" (Outlaw Entertainment) includes a hidden track, "Horror Vacua" — a song Ron originally wrote for CELTIC FROST, but which was never recorded by the influential Swiss outfit.

Dirt Von Karloff holds down the four strings for Los Angeles-based industrial/metal act Society 1. He has, upon my review , clearly honed a terrifying stage persona, the likes of which throughout Rock history has only been seen from Gene Simmons, Sid Vicious and Jerry Montano. I took the liberty during the recording of Society 1's next album to venture off down the dark and creepy path with this true metal monster. More...

Legendary New York hardcore/metal act CRUMBSUCKERS will be reuniting for a special show to mark the 20th anniversary of their classic "Life of Dreams" release. Original members Chris Notaro (vocals), Chuck Lenihan (guitar; GENITORTURERS), Gary Meskil (bass; PRO-PAIN) and Dan Richardson (drums; LIFE OF AGONY, PRO-PAIN, STEREOMUD) will be accompanied by an as-yet-undetermined second guitarist for a reunion concert in New York City this summer.
"Over the past week, I have been in close contact with my old bandmates via phone and e-mail," Meskil confirmed. "I'm happy to say that all are optimistic and xcited about a CRUMBSUCKERS reunion."
"At this point we are still in the early planning stages, but we intend to play a special 'Life Of Dreams' 20th anniversary reunion concert in NYC this summer (date and venue to be announced), which will certainly be a lot of fun."
CRUMBSUCKERS released two full-length albums through the Combat label — 1986's "Life of Dreams" and 1988's "Beast On My Back" — before finally calling it a day in the early 90's. Several members embarked on a melodic metal venture called HEAVY RAIN, but that band was short-lived. The rhythm section of Meskil and Richardson went on to PRO-PAIN, while Chuck Lenihan ended up with GENITORTURERS.
Representatives for Metallica's management (QPrime) and record label (Warner Bros.) have both rejected as "false" rumors that the band will be headlining this summer's Ozzfest.
Metallica have lined up a number of European festival appearances as part of their "Escape From The Studio '06" tour, including slots at Germany's Rock Am Ring and U.K.'s Download festivals.
Metallica recently confirmed in a posting on their official web site that they have recruited Rick Rubin (Slayer, System of a Down, Slipknot, Audioslave, Red Hot Chili Peppers) to produce their forthcoming studio LP. The news was accompanied on the site by several pictures of Metallica in the studio with a shoeless Rubin.
Metallica officially began the songwriting process for their new album late last year and are expected to spend the next few months compiling ideas before entering the final recording stage. A late 2006/early 2007 release via Warner Bros. is expected.
Danish modern metallers Mnemic will enter ex-Stone Temple Pilots drummer Eric Kretz's Bomb Shelter studios in Los Angeles, California in May with producers Shaun Tingvolt (Strapping Young Lad, Lamb of God) and Christian Olde Wolbers (Fear Factory) to begin recording their third album for a late 2006 release. Mixing duties will be handled by Andy Sneap (Machine Head, Exodus, Arch Enemy, Nevermore) at his Backstage Studios in Derbyshire, U.K. The group's upcoming CD will be their first with singer Tony Jelencovich (formerly of Transport League and B-Thong), who replaced Michael Bøgballe in September.

"Our Truth" will be the first single taken from the group's forthcoming new album, "Karmacode," which is set for an April 4th release.
The track received its worldwide debut on the "Underworld: Evolution" soundtrack, where it appeared alongside such acclaimed artists as Puscifer (Maynard Keenan's [Tool, A Perfect Circle] new project), Chester Bennington (Linkin Park), Slipknot, My Chemical Romance, Atreyu and more. The video for the track was shot in Los Angeles by Fort Awesome, a brand-new directorial duo whose individual credits include Queens of the Stone Age, Linkin Park, Disturbed, Chevelle and more.
Lacuna Coil will embark on a massive six-week U.S. tour this March direct support to Rob Zombie. This trek, which kicks off in mid-March and runs through early May, will be the group's first stateside run since Ozzfest 2004.
Arch Enemy guitarist Michael Amott offered an update on the Arch Enemy DVD and touring:
“Hello dear Arch Enemies!
"About time for an update here at archenemy.net - don’t you think!?
"Ok, so what's happened ‘round here? Well, we’ve actually been keeping busy and focused during our time home since the holidays. A lot of effort has gone into working on the first ever Arch Enemy DVD, ‘LIVE APOCALYPSE’ which is now very near completion. The DVD is shaping up to be an ultra cool 2-disc affair and I honestly couldn’t be happier with it. The main show is from the Forum in London, U.K (December ’04) and we also have footage from Manchester, U.K in December ’05 (there’ll be 3 songs included from that). It goes without saying that there’s tons of extras/special features – as there should be!
"The artwork was done by Niklas Sundin of Cabin Fever Media. We’ll be posting the cover ASAP…
"Paul Smith - who’s been editing all the concert footage has done a superb job, it looks stunning. I spent a couple of days in London recently at his studio and that was a blast…had a lot of fun annoying him! More...

Former Nasum drummer Anders Jakobson has posted the following announcement on the official Nasum website:
"It's time for a huge announcement: I have a new band, and you will see and hear it after you've read this!
"Yes, a new band has emerged after my hiatus from playing during 2005 (apart from Krigshot's session of course), and I'll tell you the whole story.
"In my blog dated January 9 I expressed my wishes for a new grindcore band, more or less looking for people in the Örebro area, and following that blog I got a few emails. One was from Anders Bertilsson from local deaththrashers Ruin who I've sort of known since a few years back. Knowing Anders can play the guitar and is a grindfan I added him to my list of possible members.
"Around the same time I got an email from Oskar Pålsson from the death metal band Relentless asking me if I could help him out with the drums for a solodemo. I had just breifly talked to Oskar before but I told him about my plans and suggested we should merge our ideas to one.
"So I had a guitarist and a bassplayer - I had the members for a new band!
"The following weeks the three of us emailed riffs and ideas back and forth, talking alot on the net about what we wanted to do and not. This is a completely new way of creating music for me. Basically, we had about 15-20 riffs written before we even got down to the rehearsal room and met eachother for the first time as a group! I am used to bringing complete songs to rehearsals and not do so much afterwork on them, so this is really something new.
"February 2 we had our first rehearsal. We wrote two songs and worked on a few skeletons for some more songs. It felt great to be grinding again, although I am very rusty and will probably be for a while, but it gets better with each rehearsal.
"Since the initial rehearsal we have rehearsed three more times, and this past Friday we did a video rehearsal with Anders B's digital camera. Do you wanna see it? Here you go:
• The sound is slightly out of sync, but that's how it is when you use a digital camera...
• These are the very first four songs that we have completed, but they will probably change slightly until the next time we record them in some way...
• This was recorded late on a Friday, after a whole workweek and a lot of after work activities (I was away every day the past week) so the playing is so so, but what the hell - it's grind!
"Feel free to post you comments about these videos - we need some encouragement to move on...
"We are probably looking for a second guitarist so if you are in the Örebro area and likes this - get in touch!"

Unleashed have posted the following message on their official website regarding drummer Anders Schultz and summer festivals:
"Somebad news first, Anders has been hospitalized for about a week due to a lung-collapse. He's been through some serious pain and literally been to Hell and back.
A few days ago when I spoke to him he had a cord stuck into his lungs through the ribs for repair reasons.
The damn thing left a hole in his body that still hasn't grown together. That's Death Metal for ya' right there folks !!!
However, he is recovering and has now left the hospital with Doctors orders to keep still for a number of weeks. Obviously, he wasn't ready for Valhalla just yet........
We are now looking to find a temporary replacement only for the Metal Mania festival in Poland next week. We will keep you posted on how we succeed in doing just that.
"The good news is that Unleashed is now confirmed for the 'Bang Your Head !!!' Festival in Balingen, Germany on the 23rd of June. Together with acts like Whitesnake, Helloween and Y&T.
"Unleashed will also headline the 'Queens of Metal' Open Air festival on the 17th of June in Kleinwenkheim, Germany. We are looking forward to another deathbanging summer !!!"
