Skinlab Begins Work On New Album

American groove metal veterans Skinlab has announced that they have begun work on their next studio album. In the meantime, the group has also revealed that drummer Paul Hopkins has departed from the band and been replaced by Fabian Vastod. A statement from vocalist Steve Esquivel reads as follows:

"First off we are very happy to announce that Skinlab has officially started recording our new album with legendary producer Ulrich Wild and we are excited for our first release on Art Is War records and the rebirth of Skinlab. With new beginnings comes new members and the return of some old. This will be the first album with our new drummer Fabian Vastod, after departure of original drummer Paul Hopkins.

"Fabian who is no stranger to Skinlab has been friends with the band for many years. Fabian came in strong and started recording demos and immediately became the obvious choice that he was our guy! Ten brand new tracks of brutality are in the works and we couldn’t be happier with the results! We’re on a new mission to get back on the radar and more importantly back on the stage to do what we love doing while the fire is still burning! Today we are currently in the Bay Area tracking guitars at Snakes Greendot Studios featuring our new guitarist Marcos Medina as well as Snakes return after a year and a half absence from the band! These are exciting times for Skinlab we’ve got our nose to the grind.... expect a new heavy and see you on the road this summer!”

Vale Of Pnath To Release New EP

Tech death extremists, Vale Of Pnath, will release a new EP, "Accursed," on May 17th via Willowtip Records. The album's title track is available for streaming below.

The band's second EP following two acclaimed full-lengths (2011's "The Prodigal Empire" and 2016's "II"), "Accursed" is fuelled with tech death adrenaline and shrouded in black metal's iniquitous aura. Those complementary qualities enhance what is unequivocally another giant step forward in penetrating songwriting dynamics. Concision with depth describes the five proper compositions, while the cold, mechanistic opening soundscape "Shadow And Agony" and chilling interlude "Audient Void", are equally vital in completing an EP that is best absorbed as a holistic musical experience, albeit one that is the stuff of nightmares. The picture painted is a bleak one, the intensity unleashed nothing short of devastating to the nervous system and traumatic to the psyche. More...

Danko Jones Posts New Music Video Online

As they prepare to finish their first US tour in five years tonight in Seattle, Canadian hard rock trio Danko Jones has unveiled the Amir Chamdin-directed music video for their latest single, “Dance Dance Dance". The clip can be seen below.

Chamdin, an award-winning Swedish filmmaker who has previously helmed videos for the likes of Ghost and The Hellacopters, shot “Dance Dance Dance” last month in Stockholm and created something truly unique by combining two vastly different art forms - Danko Jones' signature style of fist-pumping rock with an incredible single-take dancehall-inspired clip.

As longtime fans of his work, the members of Danko Jones were excited to collaborate with Chamdin and gave him free reign to bring his vision of their song to life. Says frontman Danko Jones, “We are excited to finally have Amir Chamdin directing the video for our new single, 'Dance Dance Dance.' We’ve been a huge fan of Amir's work for years now, and waiting to work with him was all worth it.” More...

Tom Warrior Recording Debut Niryth Album

Triptykon and former Hellhammer/Celtic Frost mastermind Tom G. Warrior has revealed that he is currently working on the debut Niryth album in Switzerland with Triptykon/ex Celtic Frost guitarist V. Santura. In a post on his blog, Delineation II, he said:

"Wednesday evening, late at night, and I am sitting in my spartan room in an exceptionally old-fashioned countryside inn, located in a tiny Bavarian village surrounded by endless fields and forests covered in lingering snow. We have just finished the third day this week of recording and mixing sessions at Triptykon guitarist V. Santura’s equally remote Woodshed Studio. It is a pleasant feeling of accomplishment that fills me this evening, after many months of frequently challenging work on music and lyrics behind the scenes.

"These past few days, we finished all vocal recordings for Niryth’s initial recorded music and then began mixing the material. Only one of the songs remains to be mixed tomorrow. And we also completed the recording sessions for V. Santura’s pilot lead guitar and my pilot vocals for the final, major part of the Celtic Frost/Triptykon Requiem. I am deeply grateful to V. Santura for his graceful patience and considerable talent, without which neither the Requiem nor Niryth’s sessions would have yielded such unique results.

"And when V. Santura and I sent the Niryth mixes to my songwriting partner and group co-founder Mia Wallace, who was unable to attend these sessions due to a prior and inescapable commitment, her emotionally positive reaction confirmed that we appear to be on the right path with this project."

Niryth is a new project from Warrior which features three bassists (including himself) and no guitars. He's joined in the group by Triptykon bassist Vanja Slajh and Mia Wallace (of The True Endless, Skoll and currently of the Hellhammer spin off Triumph Of Death and live bassist for former Immortal frontman Abbath,) as well as drummer Pidi Leuenberger.
