Having his American acoustic tour alongside Bob Wayne and Jay Munly in December, and just recently a trek through Australia and New Zealand alongside John Baizely, Scott Kelly's newest U.S. solo tour with support from Eugene S. Robinson (Oxbow) is now underway. The following press release was issued about the tour:
"If there was ever a certainty of damage done, dealt and overcome, the SCOTT KELLY solo tour is an object lesson in the character building parameters of life's grinding parade. Bringing equal parts sonorous weight and lambent beauty, the man, the guitar and the songs from a songbook heavy with NEUROSIS and SHRINEBUILDER antecedents, KELLY's current tour sees him debuting unreleased songs from his upcoming solo record, as well as his previous solo LPs for a live show experience burnished by the acoustic and not diminished by it."
"There's fear everywhere," Kelly says. "In moments both quiet and small. And there's surviving them all. And we are."
Eugene S. Robinson supports with a brand of storytelling that draws from his previously published work, as well as stories from the beast that has driven OXBOW for the past two decades. More...
In anticipation of the forthcoming release, "Oro: Opus Primum" and the follow-up "Oro: Opus Alter," Ufomammut has released a video trailer as an early indicator of what to expect from these monolithic new recordings.
The footage was filmed during the recording sessions with Lorenzo Stecconi at Locomotore Studio in Roma, where Ufomammut has recorded previous albums. The band's publicist commented: "This video offers a unique insight into the formation of their gargantuan riffs, succinct drum blasts, stirring synths and effects and purposeful vocal passages. As the footage draws to a close we are left with an impression of how all of these elements are seamlessly bound together by this dynamic and cohesive trio. If you thought that Eve was a bold step in UFOMAMMUT's sonic adventure, then just wait until you hear these titanic recordings from start to end."
With "Oro: Opus Primum" being released in North America via Neurot on April 17th you can expect to hear more on the album very soon. Meanwhile feast your eyes on the video below. More...
Teramaze will be releasing the "Anhedonia" album on April 27th through Nightmare Records. The following press release was issued about the band:
"Teramaze might be Australia's best kept secret ... but that won't last long. As this band is ready to burst out of their home country and make a well-deserved worldwide impact with their metallic alloy brand.
"Whilst loosely befitting the genre of thrash metal, the music of Teramaze conjures such adjectives as, 'innovative,' 'progressive,' and 'groove-laden' but most notably, 'engaging.' Keeping the fundamental elements of metal alive in their music, Teramaze pushes metal into unchartered waters with guitar work that is incendiary and powerfully aggressive vocals that drive the song.
"The album 'Anhedonia' was produced/mixed by Dean Wells and mastered by Lasse Lammert (Alestorm, Stuck Mojo Halcyon Way) Anhedonia is a critique of modern man's diminishing ability to experience life's simple pleasures.
"Teramaze has been creating tidal waves on its native shores of Australia with its explosive live performances and is ready to bring its music to the masses on the world stage. Think metal spirit... Think future, Think TERAMAZE..." More...

We've been chatting up metal fans and band members everywhere to get their best pit stories from live metal shows. This week Tony Piccoli from Detroit prog metal act Imminent Sonic Destruction shares the following tale of suffering abuse in the pit to see Pantera up close and personal:
Back when I was living in Arizona, and still in high school, I attended the Pantera/Soulfly concert at the Mesa Amphitheater. It was my first Pantera concert, and I was supremely excited. I was very much into Pantera at the time, and NOTHING was going to stop me from getting to the very front of the crowd. I literally memorized lines from their famed "home videos." I withstood the pain of being smashed into the bar of the rail at the front. I've been in many pits in my time, but this concert was special to me, and I wanted to be at the very front to witness the band in all their glory. As the pit circled behind me during the opening acts, the force that was pushing me into the top of the railing (which lined up perfectly to my chest) was growing stronger, and the pain was escalating. Using the bar, I started bracing myself, and pushing back into the crowd. This offended the big, giant Mexican dudes behind me. Oh man, they were pissed, and with that, the "fun" began.
The last of the opening bands was wrapping up, and I could feel the energy of the crowd behind me growing as the time for Pantera drew closer. The big guys behind me continued to push into me... sometimes leading with their elbows. I continued to take it, and respond with a pretty powerful push back against them, and the crowd, which continued to anger the big guys. Finally, the last opening band finished up. At this point, there was clear discontent between me and my boys, and the big guys behind me. However, since I was the one pushing back, they were most upset with me.
Fast Forward to Pantera's set. BOOM. The crowd explodes into a violent flowing ocean of humans. It was amazing, and... painful! The big guys behind me were seriously going after me. Multiple elbows to the back, a punch to my shoulder (after all, the pit was directly behind me) and finally, a direct closed fist hit to the back of my head.
I was done. "Fuck this."More...
As was announced yesterday, Belgium's Dehuman is now officially signed onto the Kaotoxin Records roster for a multi-album deal set to start with the band's debut full-length "Black Throne of All Creation." The album drops on April 30th in CD and limited edition digipack versions.
Metalunderground.com has an exclusive stream of the album's seventh track "Cast of Assassination," which can be heard through the player below. Kaotoxin Records also commented on Dehuman:
"Amongst a plethora of bands conforming to traditional over technical death metal and nearing Deathcore, Dehuman stands apart, offering a down to Earth, straight forward and authentic array of death metal compositions. Despite intricate riffs and melodies, the quartet attach considerable importance to their song-writing so as to make any listener experience a chaotic musical world forged by the instruments of these up and coming musicians. Their desire to tour has left them prepared to conquer the world by storm."
The "Black Throne of All Creation" track listing is as follows:
1. Apocalypse and perdition
2. Monstrosity in the hands of god
3. Eyes of a thousand
4. Spiral of loss
5. Down with the world
6. Harvest the sun
7. Cast of assassination
8. Black mamba
9. Path to oblivion

Beak, the post-metal quartet formed by local Chicago luminaries Chris Eichenseer and Jason Goldberg previously of The Timeout Drawer, have created a clip highlighting music from their forthcoming debut album, "Eyrie," due out on April 3 via Someoddpilot Records). The video can be seen below.
The band has also shared the cover art for "Eyrie" (seen at the end of the teaser video), which was created by Eichenseer, a sought after graphic artist who has done artwork for American Heritage, Caural, Elliot Lipp and others. The album cover photo was shot outside of Monterrey, Mexico where Eichenseer was teaching a course on graphic design.
"Eyrie" was recorded and mixed in late-2011 at Engine Studios by Neil Strauch (Sage Francis, Bonnie Prince Billy) and contains five tracks.
The complete "Eyrie" track listing is as follows:
1. Angry Mother of Bones
2. Hands Collide
3. Men at Arms
4. Billions of Eyes
5. The Weight & Time
"Metal for the sake of it just doesn't interest us. We need more than heavy riffage and the trappings of the genre," expained Eichenseer. "I wish we could call it something else, because to me it's more. We're not afraid to carry influence from our roots in post to punk rock. We're very aware of storytelling and depth. We're not interested in skulls."
Vocalist Jon Slusher discussed the conceptual aspect of the debut album: "Eyrie is the nest of a bird of prey built in a high, inaccessible place. The album is conceptual. It's the path of ruin, the crumbling of empires and the marching of time. "
Beak is Andy Bosnak (Guitar), Chris Eichenseer (Drums), Jason Goldberg (Bass, Vocals) and Jon Slusher (Guitar, Lead Vocals).
Here are the upcoming Beak tour dates:

Periphery has released a new re-recording of the track “Passenger” now exclusively on iTunes at this location.
Mark Holcomb (guitars) states: “Hey everyone, I hope you guys dig the re-recording of 'Passenger.' We wanted to include a bonus song specifically for the reissue of the self-titled record, and since I had just joined the band at the time we were deciding which song to include.
"Basically, it made a ton of sense to go ahead and re-record this one and release it as a Periphery song. Stylistically it always made a ton of sense to do so, and since the song was originally written by myself, Misha and Spencer, it always kind of felt like a Periphery song anyways! So enjoy it.
"And remember, this isn't a track from the new album session - it's only for the re-release of the self-titled record. Get pumped for the new stuff!! Much love.
