After a hiatus of nearly a quarter century, Everett old school thrashers Mace have regrouped and put out a new song. The track "HAARP Strings 2012" is streaming below as the band ponders offers from German labels and promoters. The new logo for Mace was even designed by fellow Seattle old-schooler Tommy Neimeyer of The Accused. Mace first hit the scene in 1985 on the classic Metal Massacre V compilation. Check out some of the band's old school tunes by heading over to Mace's MySpace page.
A few weeks ago in Unearthing the Metal Underground, I introduced some ultra brutal bands from the southern Filipino city of Davao. This time around, let’s take a look at the capital of Manila, which definitely isn’t to be outdone in the slamming, blasting sickness category. The Metro Manila area, an impossibly huge urban center, is bursting with bands weaned on a steady diet of Disgorge, Malignancy, Devourment, and Gorgasm, so let’s get right down to it.
OK, so technically Pus Vomit isn’t actually from Manila, but the band is from right next door to the metro area, and calls Dasmarinas home. There’s no doubt the denizens of metro Manila can clearly hear the unholy din this three piece has been conjuring since 2005 no matter what part of the packed metropolis they hail from.
Pus Vomit keeps things simple from a lineup perspective, with just drums, vocals, and a guitar player, but there’s little simple about the Pus Vomit sound, which is equal parts slamming accessibility and technical prowess. The band has kept busy since its founding, with two demos, three splits, and a full length, “Degrade the Worthless,” which came out in 2009 on Berdugo Records, the label run by Alexander De La Cruz, the man who also publishes the In Dark Purity ‘zine. Fans of far eastern brutality in the vein of Vomit Remnants, Infernal Revulsion, and Rest in Gore will revel in Pus Vomit’s insane mix of slams and technicality.
After previously streaming the song "Dead Girls Don't Say No!" online, the band has now checked in with the following update about streaking a sample from the "Boy A" track:
"Here we are, back again with a brand new sample!
"Boy A is probably the song that better represents the will to push the boundaries of our music a little further with this record, in fact this particular song features an unusual vocal approach on the verses, eerie samples all-over and even our first keyboard solo ever!
"To have a taste of the acid madness just click here, more samples coming soon, be aware!" More...
Aggressive Disorder has checked in with the following announcement about finishing the band's new album:
"The album you've been patiently waiting for is complete. It's got some majorly F**K'N KILLER tunes on it.
"We all think you'll be way satisfied. Keep checking back to hear some of them. Thanx again & it is loud & it is heavy!"

Starting today, AOL Music is streaming Corrosion of Conformity's self-titled new studio offering in its entirety. Set for North American release on February 28th, 2012 via Candlelight Records, Corrosion Of Conformity was recorded at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 in Los Angeles, the 11-track offering was produced by the band in cooperation with long-time collaborator John Custer, mixed by John Lousteau (Foo Fighters) and features artwork by Seldon Hunt (Melvins, High On Fire).

In conjunction with the record release, the Raleigh, North Carolina legends will embark on a full U.S. headlining tour this March. Set to commence on March 1st at the Gramercy Theatre in New York City, the trek will hit 16 cities including two performances at this year’s SXSW Music Conference in Austin. Enthroned's new album "Obsidium" will see release via Agonia Records this coming March, 2012. In anticipation of the upcoming release, the label has now posted a track from the album online. Check out the song "Nonvs Sacramentum" in the player available below.
South African act In Dreams has issued the following announcement about regrouping:
"Back in 2005, In Dreams earned their right to stand amongst S.A's best. Playing gigs all over South Africa and filling venue's with metal heads, hungry for some authentic brutal riffs. Their songs were played on 5fm and radio tuks 107.2. After signing to an alternative label they stepped into SABC studios to film their début single 'Forgive Me.'
"After this, relations quickly deteriorated between In Dreams & the label because of creative differences. Blood sweat and passion lead them to bring the whole machine to a screeching halt. If they couldn't create music on their terms and give the metal community tunes that was a 100% true to them... they damn well wouldn't.
"They say if you love something set it free. In Dreams thought: Fuck that! If you love something put it in a basement and feed it through a slot. And that is exactly what they did. With new tracks, demo's recorded, writing, upcoming gigs and pure passion. They are back and ready to melt some faces. More...
New York death/thrash act Hexe Krieg (formerly Choke On Your Ego) recently recruited former Vital Remains/Godless Rising vocalist Jeff Gruslin. The band has released a short video montage/promotional clip to introduce itself to fans. Check out the clip below.
Year of the Sun Records has announced the release of the official music video for "Feel Again" by the Toronto/Montreal collaborative project Exes for Eyes. The song "Feel Again" was the opening track from the band’s 2011 debut "The Amsler Grid." The video was filmed by Dave Sheldon and “Big” James Arsenian from the band along with Connor Sheaves and Liliana Carvalho. Check out the clip below.
"James and I have wanted to put together an Exes For Eyes video for a long time now," commented guitarist Dave Sheldon. "This was a completely beer-influenced DIY shoot with good friends in my old rehearsal room, so it provided an excellent vibe that I think really translated in the footage."
Vocalist “Big” James Arsenian concurs. "The song 'Feel Again' is a party tune so, when it came time to make the video, it made sense to just get a bunch of cases of beer, a tube and a funnel and bust out the cameras. We'll be hitting the road in March and rocking Ontario and Quebec so keep an eye out for us. Also, the first person to show up naked to an Exes For Eyes show gets a free T-shirt and I'm not joking." The album will be released by Svarga Music worldwide on April 2nd and in western Europe on April 6th. The lyrics are written in Ukrainian, Russian and German and explore problems of mankind's relation to the past, ideas of greatness and boundless possibilities of the human spirit, and the strength of will and character. Cosmology concepts are also represented, albeit leaning toward the social aspects. Thunderkraft will start recording sessions for a third album in the winter of 2012.
Polish death metal band Centurion has signed a contract with Psycho Records for its second album "Serve No One." The release will come out on 14.03.2012.

Friday, February 17 marked the fourth to last date of In Flames’ headlining North American tour in support of their 2011 studio album “Sounds Of A Playground Fading” (reviewed here). As a longtime fan and ardent supporter of the band through thick and thin, and having missed every performance since their spring ’08 Gigantour stint, I was rabidly eager for a live In Flames fix tonight. Anything less would constitute a crime against metal. More...

Brussels, Belgium act Dehuman has signed a multi-album deal with Kaotoxin records. The first full length, "Black Throne of all Creation," will be released both on CD and LP on April 30th, with a
special release party in the band's Belgian capital hometown. Kaotoxin commented on the band:
"This four piece of young brutalers is all about bringing back to life what once was the corpse of early 90's Death Metal. Don't compare 'em with your now habitual bad sounding youngsters that are thinking a crappy production makes something Old-School. Not at all! Dehuman is bringing together the spirit alive, summoning the great ancients without copying them, without being outdated. They've inhaled the smell of that rotting corpse giving all of their up-to-date creations that cryptic stench we once used to love."

We are honored to present our new guitarist and songwriter Kensington who is responsible for most of the killer riffs on this album. MASK OF MALICE is our darkest record to date concerning both the music and the lyrics. Our main interest was to reflect the nature of human malice in our recent music which express in straight forward up-tempo smashers and pounding mid tempo songs. We are grateful for everyone who was involved in this recording of this album!" More...

It moves straight forward from the the very first song to the last, delivering a vibrant mix of skilled musicianship with the urgency of the classic thrash records from the 1980s!"
Exumer recorded the band's first new album in 25 years with renowned producer Waldemar Sorychta (Grip Inc., Therion, Sodom, Moonspell, etc.) at the helm. The 10-track strong, hard-hitting CD "Fire & Damnation" combines a punishing production with aggressive song writing. The Black Dahlia Murder's video for "Moonlight Equilibrium" is now live on BloodyDisgusting.com. The video is a David Brodsky-directed nod to old-school horror films with a much more graphic approach.
The video's content aptly fits the lycanthropic lyric concept set against a bawdy Victorian back drop. The result: a chilling and entertaining slice of mini-horror that metal fans and horror-enthusiasts will enjoy. Watch Moonlight Equilibrium at this location.

Directed by Chris Lago and produced by Artlab Studio, the new video has been described by the band itself as "provoking and desecrating, but rich in meaning." According to the band the video is "a very cinematic plot drives the story through facts and landscapes chained to the famous apparitions of the Virgin Mary at Fatima in the early twentieth century, painting a horrible, yet quite contemporary portrait of the Church Institution." Coming off of the second Dethklok album, Brendon Small's Galaktikon searches for melody (in the vocal) and finds inspirations in modern black metal, Queen, Foo Fighters, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins and Weezer. No influence is unwelcome on this project. Brendon Small paired with Dethklok drummer Gene Hoglan (Strapping Young Lad, Testament, Fear Factory) and Dethklok bassist Bryan Beller (Steve Vai, Mike Keneally band) and Dethklok engineer and mixer Ulrich Wild.
“This album should be thought of as an audio comic book, an over acted chamber drama, a ridiculous premise that takes itself way too seriously all the way to the end,” states Brendon Small. More...

Dominique Leurquin has checked in with the following update about Luca Turilli's Rhapsody recording the new "Ascending to Infinity" album:
"Hi my friends, Dominique here for you from the freezing Annecy ha ha. I am actually here in the French studio of my friend Arnaud recording the rhythmic guitars for our album ASCENDING TO INFINITY.
"I just finished to record the parts of the song DARK FATE OF ATLANTIS and I can tell you already this will be a killer song of the new RHAPSODY release. I am looking forward to playing it live because, apart from being the typical RHAPSODY fast hit song that all our fans will love to listen to, it contains so many bombastic elements that on stage will sound really impressive.
"The technical level of this song is very high for everybody and the drumming of Alex Holzwarth is just amazing. Therefore the recording was not easy at all because in these kind of songs, to get a massive impact, you need to go for the maximum precision and all the rhythmic instruments have to sound 'together' at 100%. Therefore for these kind of speed songs Luca always asked me to cross-check each take at half speed and for me and Arnaud sometimes is a double work, but of course the final result in the end needs to be perfect and for this style of music it is really necessary. Especially when on top of these same rhythmic there is a whole orchestra moving ha ha. More...

Autopsy are death metal legends. No arguments there, but who knew they would come roaring back into prominence after being dormant for 15 years with last year’s “Macabre Eternal”? The band has a new lease on their career, warping the minds of a new generation, while crushing the necks of older fans. The band is getting ready to release a new compilation album, “All Tomorrow’s Funerals,” which will include all their EPs remastered, along with a couple of new tracks.
I had the chance to send drummer/vocalist Chris Reifert questions via e-mail, and he proceeded to take none of my questions seriously. Those looking for some insight into how “All Tomorrow’s Funerals” came together will be disappointed, but those that want a few good laughs at my expense will thoroughly enjoy reading this interview as much as I did.
