KYLESA have returned from their European tour with Baroness and offer up the following update:
"We just got back from touring Europe with Baroness. Thanks to everyone who helped out, came to the shows, put us up or showed us around. Special thanks to the Marricle, whom without, we would have been completely lost. And of course, Stachel, for the quick whit and four wheels. Thanks to all of our fans who supported us even when Robert had to go home due to a tragic family loss. It is really appreciated."
"We've got a few shows planned for late May on the east coast. Other than that, we will continue working on our new record."
Tampa, Florida-based melodic thrash metal band THE ABSENCE has issued the following update:
"Well, a lot of people have written us asking how the drummer search is going. We had some good drummers show up to the audition on [February] 3rd. We video taped all of them and watched the videos. After all the auditions we found a guy who just nailed the songs very well and we have been rehearsing with him every week since. His name is Justin Reynolds. The kid is wicked good and keeps time very well without a click track. That is a quality you don't find often in a drummer."
"So now that the drummer search is over, get ready for THE ABSENCE to start touring again and bringing headbanging metal to your town! We are all excited and feel like a huge weight has been lifted off our shoulders. We can't wait to hit the road soon."
"Thanks to all the drummers who came out to the audition. We appreciate your efforts."

German death metallers DEBAUCHERY will release their new album, "Continue To Kill", on April 4 via AFM Records.
According to a press relase, "Continue To Kill" is "the fifth album from DEBAUCHERY and the fantastic follow-up to their successful blood-spattered platter 'Back In Blood': more evil, more brutal, much faster. With the dynamic and powerful production of Dennis Ward (ANGRA, KROKUS, PINK CREAM 69) leant to a much heavier genre, 'Continue To Kill' is on its way to finally signaling a breakthrough for these German blood-busters. With guest musicians such as Tom Naumann (ex-PRIMAL FEAR), Schmier (DESTRUCTION, HEADHUNTER) and Tomasz (ex-BELPHEGOR), this record takes on a new slant."
Check out the new song "Blood God Rising" on the DEBAUCHERY MySpace page.
DEBAUCHERY's video for the song "Lords of Battle" can be viewed below. The track comes off the group's debut album, "Back in Blood", which was released in March 2007 via AFM Records. The CD was recorded at House of Music studios in Winterach, Germany with producer Dennis Ward and was made available as a double digipack, featuring a bonus CD containing seven cover versions of songs from RAMMSTEIN, MANOWAR and THE BEATLES, among other artists.
Danish death metal band COMPOS MENTIS — whose second album, "Gehennesis", was released in March 2007 via Mighty Music — has issued the following update:
"This spring we have gone under ground in order to focus on composing material for our third album, which will be recorded at CBStudios on various occasions during July and August.
"Since the recording of 'Gehennesis', three menbers have joined COMPOS MENTIS, namely Ken (guitar), Rune (keyboard), and Claus (bass), and with these lineup changes we had a perfect chance to further develop the music of COMPOS MENTIS."
"All members — new as old — are contributing to the making of the new album and the songs that have been written so far are faster and more riff-orientated and the song structures are a bit more straightforward than previously. It still sounds like COMPOS MENTIS, of course, but with a whole lot more to it!" More...
Chicago’s high-energy rock ensemble TUB RING start a three week tour tomorrow with FOXY SHAZAM, KARATE HIGH SCHOOL, and PEACHCAKE. The band finishes up the tour with an appearance at The End Records’ showcase as this year’s SXSW Festival on March 15th, 2008 in Austin, Texas with the ALEX SKOLNICK TRIO, JARBOE, NADJA, and GIANT.
An update online from bassist Trevor Erb reads:
"Hey dudes and dudettes! This is a boarding call for all passengers on the flight/bus/train/bicycle bound for the ‘Woo!!! Spring Break ‘92…Let’s Make Some Bad Decisions‘ Tour, your vessel has arrived, it’s time to head out."
"If you’re reading this, then you’ll be pleased to know that we’re either finishing up a last minute rehearsal, packing the van and trailer, or already on the road and well into our journey. All of these things should make you happy, because for the next month we’ll be out with some great friends of ours that we haven’t seen in sometime, and that always makes for a good time. FOXY SHAZAM, KARATE HIGH SCHOOL, and PEACHCAKE are joining us on this tour, and I think that’s a what you can call a ‘really big show.’ In the spirit of Spring Break, it’s safe to assume that we’ll be sauntering around with fruity drinks topped off with cute little parasol toothpicks and looking for a ‘killer foam party,’ so please point us in the right direction, and make sure our glasses are topped off." Extreme metal titans, CRYPTOPSY, have been forced to cancel their recently announced tour of South America in March, after drummer Flo Mounier broke his knee cap. Mounier had completed the drum tracking process for the group’s new album prior to the incident, so it did not affect the recording. The tour of South America is expected to be re-scheduled later in 2008.
Cryptopsy are currently putting the finishing touches on their sixth full-length, The Unspoken King, which will surface through Century Media this summer. The group recently announced the addition of new frontman Matt McGachy (3 MILE SCREAM) and keyboards/samplist Maggie Durand to their lineup.
Alex Auburn (guitars) states: “Right now the band is plunged deeply into the production of the new album and so far everything is going well. Fans will be amazed by the diversity and open minded vision of extremes for this particular entity. Some song titles we’ve been working on are ‘Worship Your Demons', ‘Resurgence Of An Empire’ and ‘Silence The Tyrants'. More news to follow soon.” More...

The "Somewhere Back In Time World Tour 08" was inspired by Maiden's recently released DVD, "Live After Death" (New Door Records/Ume). Filmed and recorded over four spectacular nights at Long Beach Arena on the "Powerslave Tour" in 1985, this has long been a benchmark for rock concert videos and live albums, and the CD remains one of the biggest-selling live albums ever with sales in excess of six million worldwide. With the video having been largely unavailable for many years, the fans' massive interest in this legendary concert continues to this day with the DVD debuting at No. 1 on charts around the world (including The UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark and Finland), as well as No 2 on the Billboard USA Chart and in Canada.
This tour revisits the band's history by focusing almost entirely on their classic 80's period in both choice of songs played and the stage set, which is based around the legendary Egyptian Production of that "Powerslave Tour" as portrayed on the Live After Death DVD. This will arguably be the most elaborate and spectacular show the band have ever presented. Furthermore, the band intends to bring along for this summer leg of the tour the colossal mummy of Eddie, as featured on the Live After Death DVD, along with various other elements of the show that would not fit on their 757 on the first leg of this tour, which included the shows at the Forum and Izod Centre. Sadly no jumbo has a door big enough to fit in such a massive and imposing monster.
Says vocalist Bruce Dickinson: "We are all greatly looking forward to getting back to see our fans in places like Texas, the South West and Seattle where we haven't played for quite some time. And for this leg we will be able to bring along all Eddie's toys which we couldn't get on our plane during the first leg. We are all having a great time on this tour and really can?t believe the excitement it is creating round the world and the huge numbers of people who are turning out to see us. It makes for a really very exciting time for all of us, fans and band alike."
