Lycosa Announces Self-Titled EP

Innervenus Music is proud to announce the CD release a self-titled EP from "old fashioned steel town metal" band Lycosa on February 12th, 2013. The EP is available for streaming through the widget below, and Innervenus Music also commented on the band:

"Lycosa is a spontaneous concoction of beer, music, and friends. Formed in October 2010 by vocalist Leech and drummer Chris (Iron Crown, ex-Evil Machine, ex-Reducer), who got together with a couple other friends and started writing and practicing in Chris's basement. Within a few weeks, his wife Amy (Motorpsychos, Molasses Barge, ex-Reducer) joined on bass. The band played their first show in July 2011, working with a few different guitarists until Tree became the permanent replacement at that position in early 2012.

"With lyrics that focus on story-telling (such as in opening track 'Barbara,' inspired by the Pittsburgh-based cult classic film Night of the Living Dead), Leech's vocals typically fall into the categories of grind or brutal death metal (with influences including Devourment, Prostitute Disfigurement, Terminally Your Aborted Ghost), but don't just expect to hear the same old slams-and-squeals. The band draws inspiration from a wide array of sources -- guitar riffs and solos in the style of old-school thrash such as Megadeth, and a rhythm section rooted in Melvins/Eyehategod-style sludge, just to name a few -- which allows for plenty of variation between their songs. Grisly Amputation Announces Debut Album Release

On February 12th, 2013, the debut full-length album by old school death dealers Grisly Amputation will hit the streets courtesy of Innervenus Music. The "Cannibalistic Tendencies" album is now available for streaming via Bandcamp or in the player below. The following press release was also issued about the band:

"Identified as old school American death metal/grindcore/deathgrind/goregrind, and fueled by Jack Daniels, PBR, and old horror movies, Grisly Amputation was founded in February 2010 by guitarist Gene Fikhman and drummer Chris Dissell after their band Scorched broke up. Wanting to take their new project in an old school death/grind direction, Gene first brought on board his fellow guitarist from steel city sludge band Vulture, Garrett Twardesky (ex-Shipwreck I Promised), who came up with the name Grisly Amputation.

"They started writing material, as well as trying out bass players and vocalists -- eventually striking gold with Pat Butcher (ex-Lethal Prayer, ex-Omneity), who had previously worked with Garrett in First Day Dead, as well as newcomer Rob Grisly.

"In the past year, the band has opened for numerous local bands as well as some national touring acts -- including Nokturnal Hellstorm, Deceased, and most recently Cannibal Corpse, whose bassist Alex Webster (with whom GrisAmp's Butcher had taken lessons) personally selected them as local support when that tour hit Pittsburgh. Burning Cross Releases "End Of Illusion" Album

German black metal band Burning Cross has released the new album “End of Illusion," and several tracks from the release are available for streaming online. Check out “Störangriff,” “Anticulture Revolution,” and “The Burning Cross” at the band's MySpace page here. Burning Cross also comments on the album:

"The record deals with the often in this scene discussed topic of the final revolt of Black Metal against the ruling society. Worldwide, united, brutal and ruthless. Be it in the struggle against the western pseudo-democracies, the Christian authorities in Europe or the religious fanaticism in the Middle East. Everything is pulped.

"To create an authentic rough timbre, Burning Cross has recorded the album quite traditional. Live, in one piece and with only one room mic. 'End of Illusion' is constantly accompanied with ambient sounds and sound effects to enhance the atmosphere and give the listener the feeling of being live at the end of illusion."

The track listing is as follows:

1. Worst of all Releases

4. Antichristian Revolution
5. Störangriff

Eight Bells Streaming New Song

Invisible Oranges is currently offering up a premiere of “Fate And Technology” from Oregon transcendentalists Eight Bells.

“Fate And Technology” comes off the trio’s Billy Anderson-engineered "The Captain’s Daughter" debut, scheduled for release on February 19th, 2013 via Seventh Rule Recordings. Give the song a listen through Invisible Oranges here or in the player below. The following press release was issued about the band:

"Eight Bells features within its ranks SubArachnoid Space alumni Melynda Jackson and Christopher Van Huffel. A native of rural Texas, Melynda Jackson grew up an only child. The isolated grasslands and windswept landscapes of her youth would later inspire her to evoke equally mysterious terrain through experimental guitar explorations and wordless vocalizations in the now-deceased SubArachnoid Space.

"Now based in Portland, Oregon Jackson's Eight Bells continues in SAS’ tradition of heavy guitar exploration, adding a blackened dissonance to the mix and minimalist vocals. Jackson is accompanied by classically trained six-string bassist Haley Westeiner, who also provides harmonic counterpoint to Jackson’s newly discovered vocal talents. SubArachnoid Space drummer Chris Van Huffel resumes the throne he occupied for ten years, bringing his thunderous, nuanced double kick playing with him. With this power trio, Jackson has found a group that brings focus and support to her unapologetically expressionistic experimental metal music." More...
