"Head Rush is a new tune just uploaded here. 'No Mercy' is one added in the last couple weeks. It is my intent to create pieces that were unlike some of the tunes here, yet still retain the signature sound. I wanted the pieces to have a more live as well as raw feel. Both the leads on the songs were done in one take to highlight this. Music is an extension of what I am and what I feel. The pain, the sorrow, the anger and the joy. I want to experience it all and let it out all my demons as well as the angels. It's this arena I live and breath. Thank you for reading and listening."

I'm glad we're out with really friendly people, as I was dubious about going out so soon after our recent tragedy, but it's going good. Myself and Kevill have been playing Street Fighter 2 non-stop. Drummer Ben Murray commented; "It has been just about two years since Light This City came home from the Death Angel tour and decided to call it quits. Needless to say, it has been an exciting and interesting two years since we put a stop to the band, and since June of 2008 everyone in Light This City has started brand new awesome musical endeavors. That being said, we always knew we would get together one last time to thrash with all our amazing fans up and down California. That time has come, and we are extremely excited to announce four 'Final' Light This City shows. These should all be absolutely killer, and we expect all our west coast fans to be there! We will play a good amount of 'Stormchaser' songs as well as all the bangers from 'Facing the Thousand' and 'Remains of the Gods.' Since we didn't play any shows in support of 'Stormchaser,' this will be the best chance for all of you metalheads in California to come rage with us while we bust out these songs! Hope to see you all there!!"

Every week we talk with bands all over the world as they share some of their favourite stories involving metal's answer to line dancing, the mosh pit. This week, Seregon frontman James Moore told us of a new use for shoes.
"We played a show in Bristol and everyone was going apeshit, broken glass, faces, bodies and shoes flying around etc. I see one guy who gets shoved so hard he flys into the wall and his arm smashes through several pint glasses and heads straight back into the pit fist in the air with blood pissing out of his arm. The same pit with shoes flying around, one guy who is walking around pumping his fist in the air catches a shoe, then starts hitting people with the shoe all around him and then concentrates on the bloodied thrasher, quite simply the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen!"
Check back every Tuesday for more tales from the pit.
Wollongong based progressive metal/rock band The Sacred Truth has posted a band update on their album recording and upcoming live show:
"The EP was part one of a concept story about an unnamed character beset by tragic events and his eventual downward spiral into depression and darkness. Now, the album will essentially be 'part two' a sequel which will tie the storyline together and have listeners intrigued form start to finish.
"Although very challenging, the idea of writing an album in the vein of great artists such as Pink Floyd who released the concept albums The Wall and Dark Side Of The Moon is a very rewarding experience and will hopefully give the listener an opportunity to connect with the charecter and follow the story somewhat like you would reading a novel or watching a movie."
11th Feb 2010
The Sacred Truth @ The Oxford Tavern, Wollongong
w/ Helm and Mind At Large
Tickets available at the door 8pm, $10.

New Jersey progressive death metal outfit THE BINARY CODE are currently on tour with Relapse tech-thrashers Revocation and French experimentalists Hypno5e on the 2010 Metal As Art Tour, and took some time out of their hectic schedule to check in from the road.
Guitarist Jesse Zuretti writes, “We've just rounded the turnpoint to begin our trek back east! From the very start of tour we knew we were going to have a good time."
"As I'm sure some of you may have heard, we were in a pretty bad van accident just a few days into the tour. The guy whom hit us was found responsible in full for the accident, and rightfully so. Nevertheless, our drummer, Umar (along with our wizardly manager), pulled it together and found a way for us to continue the tour in a minivan rental. If I might add, we also would've been homebound if it weren't for Hypno5e and Revocation sharing gear and stow space." More...
Guitarist Silenoz of Norwegian black metallers DIMMU BORGIR recently spoke to U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the band's follow-up to 2007's In Sorte Diaboli.
"The words that come to mind, if we should even try and attempt at describing (the new material) at this point, would be something like: grand, huge, epic and primal," he said. "It has this eerie and haunting feel to it. Atmosphere and ambience!
He continued, "It's hard to say anything distinct or speak objectively about the new material when you're in the middle of the writing process — we're too close to it at this stage — but we'd be lying if we said it's not good. We're very confident in the new material and we believe it'll raise a few eyebrows. We might even have to trim our own!"
Regarding why the wait between albums seems to be getting longer for DIMMU BORGIR, Silenoz said, "Because we want the next album to be a better and stronger one. We're more critical of each process and we take the time it needs. Quality is, at the end of the day, in the eye of the beholder, but once we start rushing things, like trying to write music while on tour to speed things up — forget about it. We've tried it before and it didn't work. We focus 110 percent on one thing at a time. Plus, if we'd release an album every year, where would the expectation be? Where would the excitement be?"
