Internet file sharing company Kazaa have lauched a countersuit against those music and movie companies who are taking action against them, in an effort to prevent them from engaging in what they feel is copyright infringement. Kazaa’s parent company, Sharman Network, claim in their suit that these companies are guilty of copyright misuse, monopolization, and deceptive acts and practices.
No one can argue that many labels are run by crooks and practice predatory an monopolistic tactices, but I don't think Kazaa has the moral high-ground to go suing them at this point. Maybe they have some spare cash to blow on lawyers so that they'll have less for the recording industry to take when it shuts them down...
Pitchshifter are to call their upcoming live album ‘Bootlegged, Distorted, Remixed & Uploaded’. This is to be issued by their own PSI label in March, to coincide with their farewell tour of the UK, which runs from March 13-28.
American Head Charge have parted with keyboard player Aaron Zilch. This is apparently due to ‘irreconcilable differences’. The band have no plans to replace him.
Canadian crew Voivod are to work with George Lucas’ company Industrial Light & Magic on the video for the song ‘We Carry On’. Apparently, the ILM crew are fans of the band. ‘We Carry On’ comes from the upcoming self-titled Voivod album.
Red Wine, the Spanish Heavy Metal Act, has finished the recording of their new album 'Sueños y Locura' at Rock Studios. The album will be mastered at Powerhouse Studios by Piet Sielck (Iron Savior).The band has recorded the track 'Kill Me In Dreams' which will appear as bonus track in the first edition of the album. Sueños y Locura will be released on the 14th of April. Cover artwork has been painted by Jan Yrlund.
