Dark Tranquillity Splits With Bassist

Dark Tranquillity has officially parted ways with bassist Daniel Antonsson. The band issued the following statement:

"Shortly before beginning the studio sessions for the upcoming 10th studio album 'Construct,' the band amicably parted ways with bassist Daniel Antonsson.

"The decision has been growing for a while, and the main reason is that Daniel wanted to focus on his own musical projects as well as working more in his recording studio. Being first and foremost a guitarist, he felt that the playing bass in a full-time band didn’t allow him much time for his main instrument and true passion.

"With this in mind, he chose to follow his heart and step aside at this point instead of committing to another album and an intense touring cycle that would leave little room for other activities. We thank Daniel for his years in the band - filled with great shows and amazing memories and experiences in all corners of the world - and wish him all the best with his future musical career. Wastefall Announces Lineup Changes

Wastefall has checked in with the following announcement about lineup changes within the band:

"It is always bad news when a member of a family departs but in the current circumstances it’s for the sake of music. Christos Kyrkilis (keyboards) left the band in friendly terms. Therefore, the band decided to go on as a quartet.

"Since Domenik is more than efficient, he is going to take charge the keyboards concerning the studio recordings. It’s better for the chemistry of the band to remain as a quartet. We wish Christos all it’s best to his future endeavours.

"Since Kostis Papalexopoulos is still in exile in London UK, the band had to come up with a new member behind the drum kit. We are more than happy & proud to present you Konstantinos Galimis (Agnosia, ex-Ravencult).

"As we previously informed you, concerning the upcoming photo shooting, we can now present you the current line up photos. Feel free to check them out here."

Konstantinos also commented on his recruitment: “I am very happy and proud to be part of this new era for the band! I can't wait to perform on some amazing tunes behind Wastefall's drum-kit!” More...

Warbeast Announces Fill-In Bassist

Warbeast is pleased to announce that Casey Orr (Rigor Mortis, GWAR) will join the band as a fill-in bassist while on the road this spring with GWAR.

The band’s upcoming tour dates with GWAR and Wilson kick off in Tucson, AZ on April 10th. The 16 day run, dubbed the “Fate or Chaos Tour,” will continue through the month of April until it closes in Jacksonville, FL on April 25th.

Warbeast vocalist Bruce Corbitt states, “Obviously we are all psyched to have Casey on board for this upcoming tour with GWAR and Wilson. I’ve always respected Casey’s professionalism, abilities and musicianship from our many years together in Rigor Mortis. This will be a natural and comfortable fit for Warbeast. Plus he’s still buds with all of the guys in GWAR, so this tour will be a blast… to say the least."

Casey Orr also adds, “I am very excited to accept the challenge of playing bass for the mighty Warbeast! I'm looking forward to crushing skulls with my brothers in the Beast, and I'm totally stoked to be bringing the thunder on the road this April, supporting my Scumdog family – GWAR. Texas Thrash will Destroy!”

“This by far will be the most solid lineup to date with Casey Orr joining us for this tour. I’ve known him all of my life and it just seems right,” comments Warbeast guitarist Scott Shelby. “Casey is hyped as well, as is the whole band to move on to this new era and continue to Destroy!”

“I’m looking forward to the rhythm section being tighter than ever,” states drummer Joey Gonzalez. “I know Casey will be killer to learn from and jam with." More...

Tides Of Virtue Calling It Quits

U.K. band Tides of Virtue has issued the following announcement about deciding to call it a day:

"I realize this wasn't the announcement people were expecting to hear tonight and it saddens us to have to say this but Tides Of Virtue has come to an end.

"As our personal lives and jobs have become busier it hasn't been possible to keep the flame beneath Tides alight and as you may or may not know we have lost several members along the way.

"We want to thank everyone who has been a member of Tides of Virtue from the start and to the promoters and friends that have booked us shows and put a roof over our heads and most importantly thank you to all of the fans that supported us, whether it was coming to see us at a show, buying a T-shirt/hoodie or our album or even just checking us out online. I wouldn't swap any of our experiences on the road for anything (including the insane 24 hour drive to Barcelona to play with Texas In July). More...

Akris Signs With Domestic Genocide

Virginia-based psychedelic sludge sorcerers Akris recently joined forces with Domestic Genocide Records for the release of a forthcoming full-length debut. Recorded by Chris Kozlowski at Polar Bear Lair Studios in Middleton, Maryland, the offering is slated to drop later this Summer.

Comments vocalist/ bassist Helena Goldberg of the signing: “It's incredibly gratifying to sign to a label that not only recognizes how hard we work for our music, but also supports our relentless pursuit of our passion. We are very excited to be working with domestic genocide for the release of our debut full length album and we plan on touring the United States over the course of this June and July.”

The following press release was also issued about the band:

"The story of Akris begins in the middle, on a fateful June night in 2011 when Goldberg met drummer Sam Lohman at a house show in Alexandria, Virginia. Goldberg had begun Akris three years prior, continuing the path she had blazed with her first band Aquila.

"An accomplished and classically trained pianist, Goldberg began playing bass while studying piano and composition at the Manhattan School of Music, graduating in 2008. Her Uncle and mentor, world renowned master musician and accomplished recording artist Charles Burnham, gave Goldberg her first bass and taught her improvisational skills. A deep knowledge of musical theory and composition mixed with a deep, near-gut wrenching adoration for heavy music is where AKRIS derives its sound.

"Powered by Earth and Sunn amps, Goldberg's bass sound can only be matched by the sheer concentration of her vocals making for an avalanche of sonic severity. Drummer Sam Lohman began playing clubs since 1980 and has since performed with various bands including Sheer Terror, Dust Devils, Nimrod, Sikhara, Steve Mackay and the Radon Ensemble, Acid Mothers Temple, Sonic Suicide Squad, Matta Gawa with guitarist Ed Ricart and his solo noise project, 36. Two musicians from the same town but different worlds. Doomed to fail. Don't even try. The first jam set the new course and a new Akris was forged."

Cytotoxin Cancels Upcoming Shows

Cytotoxin has issued the following statement about canceling upcoming live shows due to the band's guitarist experiencing a health issue:

"Hi people! Unfortunately I have to inform you about an issue that influences my guitar playing. Since about a year I increasingly developed a problem with my right hand (picking hand) and after a lot of research on the internet and also a couple of visits of several doctors I finally was diagnosed with focal dystonia.

"What this exactly is will be hard to explain to non-affected people. Basically it’s a quite seldom neurological task specific movement disorder. Because of that it’s nearly impossible for me to play techniques like alternate picking, palm muting or sweep picking any more. You can get a more detailed information of focal dystonia right here.

"I believe I owe to explain the circumstances to our fans. We thought about telling you the whole thing for a long time. We decided to make truth public since we don’t want to affront you in any way. We really appreciate all of you for what you’ve done for us and we will always be thankful for your eternal support!

"Within the last rehearsals we noticed more and more that we can’t keep up our live performance standard any longer with of my disorder. Because of that we had to make another hard decision which is to cancel a few shows in the near future. I’m sure that things won’t get better if I keep on playing those new songs which are very challenging for my right hand at the time. You may wonder how I’m planning to overcome this… More...

Dillinger Escape Plan Announces New Album

The Dillinger Escape Plan will release upcoming new album "One of Us is the Killer" this coming May, 2013.

"One of Us is the Killer" is set to be released by Sumerian Records (Animals As Leaders, The Faceless, Periphery) in North America through the Dillinger Escape Plan's own Party Smasher Inc. imprint. Party Smasher's partnership with BMG covers the rest of the world, including licensing deals with Grind House (Helmet, Cancer Bats, Funeral For A Friend) for Japan and Remote Control (Radiohead, Vampire Weekend, MIA) in Australia.

The new Dillinger Escape Plan album was recorded in Southern California with longtime producer Steve Evetts (Glassjaw, The Cure, Suicide Silence), with additional production at guitarist/co-founder Ben Weinman's studio. Mastering will be handled by Tom Baker (Deftones, Nine Inch Nails, Beastie Boys). The following press release was issued about the album:

"The album represents a new holistic pinnacle of the band's constantly evolving and engaging dynamics. The band will launch worldwide tours in 2013, beginning with a handful of headlining dates that have just been released.

"Dillinger's mind-bending meld of metal, rock, experimental ambience and melody first reared its head with a 6 track EP on hardcore indie Now Or Never Records, quickly followed by Under the Running Board on Relapse. The band earned a reputation as a fearless act on the live stage, committing their minds, bodies and spirits to the exhibition and visceral release of performance and often brutalizing stages, gear and themselves along the way. Calculating Infinity became the gold standard for the emerging 'math-core'/'math-metal' movement, earning a place in author Martin Popoff's "Top 500 Heavy Metal Albums of All Time." Kerrang! included the album in the '100 Best Rock Albums of All Time' and presented the band with their Spirit of Independence Award. More...
