British progressive rock veteran, and founder of Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson has posted the following update online in regards to his forthcoming solo album:
"My second solo album is nearing completion. It will be in the form of 2 separate 40 minute albums released in the same 2 CD set, and will also come as a blu-ray with surround mix, high definition stereo and a lot of visual material (Lasse is already working hard on films for many of the songs.) We're also planning a special Insurgentes style hard back book edition with a full length bonus CD of additional material.
"A year in the making, this is without doubt my biggest project to date, perhaps my most ambitious and personal music, and with some phenomenal musicians and performances on it (drummer Nic France in particular is going to blow a lot of people away). We hope a website will launch around April/May to start previewing material, with the album scheduled for September."
German thrash metal legends Destruction have posted their new music video online for the song, "Hate Is My Fuel." You can check it out below. The song comes from the group's forthcoming new studio album, "Day Of Reckoning," which was released in Europe today through Nuclear Blast Records.

"We are stoked to announce that the debut Arms of the Sun album will be available worldwide Tuesday, March 29! This will include Digital Downloads, CD's, and Signed Limited Edition Vinyl Copies!"

Finnish progressive death metal act Barren Earth is currently embarked on a U.S. tour. The band has now checked in with the following new road report:
"The support bands on this tour don’t have their own mixer guy/girl. This means that we have to rely on the venues’ personnel to take care of our live sound. Even though we obviously can’t hear how we sound onstage, by all reports the sounds seem in general to have been quite good so far. But there was a certain venue where we were warned about the sound guy. It was said he couldn’t be trusted with a food mixer, let alone a sound mixing desk. But there was very little we could do about it, so we had to put up with him. Listening to the way he did the sounds for the next band, one could understand the complaints: the sound was truly rotten. But considering that the band in question was Rotten Sound, this was actually quite befitting.
"In Seattle we had connections of our own. Travel-weary rock musicians were provided refreshment, nourishment and sight-seeing by friends and relatives. We thank thee.
"Schedules on venues have in general been quite reliable, with the exception of Seattle. Two local support bands were running a bit late, and once we got our stuff onstage, there were a number of connection problems, the sources of which were seemingly impossible to locate. We had already passed our starting time, and were contemplating on having to omit songs from our set. This would’ve been a shame, since we are only playing for 30 minutes on most nights anyway. However, as the problems were finally resolved, the tour manager said we could play our whole set, if we ‘played it quick’. As a result, the Seattle gig was a hyperactive set, with tempos a bit faster than usual. It was actually quite fun. Maybe we should start playing speed metal.
"After having travelled from the furthest southeast to the furthest northwest of the US, Canada beckoned. But there were one or two issues hampering with our travel plans.
"The travel distances on this tour are quite long. The bus usually starts for the next destination at around 4 a.m., and arrives at the venue around noon or later. So, as one wakes up in the morning, one can expect the bus to still be in motion. (Obviously some of us do not wake up before the afternoon or even later. Don’t know why. Maybe it’s the jet lag...) But on too many a morning the bus has prematurely stopped. And this is because our bus has been beset with numerous technical problems from the word go. It seems that we have been unlucky in our choice of vehicle, since the problems just keep on appearing. More...
Krallice has now completed work on the band's third full-length album "Diotima," which is to be released on April 26th, 2011. The track listing for "Diotima" goes as follows:

Swedish death metal act Nominon has issued the following announcement about recruiting a new guitarist:
"Leave the light behind... New axeman! Some kick ass news, a shorter European trek is now under construction between late March and early April. Support will come from the fleshy German deathsters Lifeless, a band that just released a killer fucking debut album on IbexMoon Rds. So what are you clubs and promoters waiting for?! Drop a mail to nominon(a)lycos.com if you're interested to book this package.
"Furthermore we have to reveal some sort of severe news as well, since it's now obvious that longtime Nominon member AntiChristian Strömblad has been forced to lay his axe to rest for the time being due to some personal shit.
"Nominon collectively wishes Mr. Strömblad all the best of luck and hope that everything will work out for the best. What we have accomplished and yet also what we've been going through during the last six years together is something that only a handful of people in the world would have managed to come out of alive, yet we fucking pulled it off.
"New guitarist is youngster Alexander Lyrbo who has proven himself more than worthy to fill AntiChristian's bloodstained boots. Alex first performance with Nominon as a permanent member will take place in Zabrze, Poland March 5th. Even though AntiChristian's departure we certainly proved once again that nothing seems to be able to kill this mighty entity known to the living dead as Nominon. This marks yet a new chapter in the unholy world of Nominon. We expect it to be a bloody one."

Israeli prog/metal band Orphaned Land has issued the following announcement about offering the band's new album "The Never Ending Way of ORwarriOR" as a free download for fans in certain Middle Eastern nations:
“For years I was educated to hate Arabs and learned how much they hate me and my nation, I was sure both Israelis and Arabs, Jews and Muslims will never live in peace. But then something happened, a small movement - the music that taught me more than any teacher, guru, rabbi, sheikh, was my band’s music – Orphaned Land. I know that a football fan of Barcelona will never cheer up for Real Madrid, so how can it be that Arab people will follow my Israeli band? It's simple - the power of music to bring people together, to break walls, even worst enemies can find a mutual song that they love, and right there - it's a moment where they can find something in common, a door to a dialogue, to understand that we are all one. We consider you, our Arabian fans, to be the most brave metal heads in the world, since you re-defined the word 'underground' into a new level.
"We know how hard it is to be a metal head in the middle east and we always want you to know that we as pioneers of the Middle Eastern Metal genre, we are trying our best to be your voice too without getting into politics that divide us for ages. I already know that music can bring people together since I see how many fans we have in the Arab world despite the fact we are Israelis.
"I know that all the wars and bullshit they put in our heads are just a stupid lie, I know it because we succeeded to break it, and we are not politicians, we are just a heavy metal band.
"We are banned in your countries, not to mention the fact that we cannot play a concert there, this will never stop the power of music and friendship that exists between us - I see you, our fans as a miracle, you give us the inspiration to continue as much and as strong as we can. Lately we have decided to make our latest album legally available in your countries - FOR FREE! We hope that you'll enjoy it and spread the word.
"Our countries flags may have different signs and colours but deep in our hearts shines the same flag - the flag of hope, friendship, brotherhood, Don't you ever forget it - it is our duty as disciples of the sacred oath."
The album can be downloaded at this location.

U.K. act Conspires To... has issued the following announcement about posting a new song online for streaming:
"The song is one of our fastest and most aggressive so far. It is all about dormant emotions being dredged up from the past and exploding in a fit of rage and aggression.....so not a love song then! Enjoy, there is more on the way."
Polish death metallers Decapitated have checked in from the Radio Gdansk Studio, where they are currently recording the follow-up to 2006’s “Organic Hallucinations." The album is being produced by Wacek Kieltyka and sound engineer Malta Arkadiusz Malczewski. Drums are being recorded with Daniel Bergstrand, who will also handle mixing duties.
Commented drummer Kerim: "Hi guys, I just wanted to tell you what is going on in the studio. Today is the second day of actual drum recording and it goes really well! We will probably could finish about 4 songs today. We will see how the next days will look like but I think we should finish drums earlier. We do not have any bigger problems so it feels good to record in this place. The acoustics of this room sounds great so I enjoy playing all these songs a lot. Today is also the last day with Daniel Bergstrand, who prepared the drum sound for us. And he definitely knows what he’s doing!!
"When I listen to the songs right now I believe that this album will be strong. Different in some ways but I feel confident about the new material. Being part of the new line up and recording the first album after the long break is definitely a big thing for me. After all those shows we played together, this is our new challenge. It’s not easy but I like challenges! So that’s it for today. Stay tuned for more news coming up!"

Nocturnal Depression has issued the following announcement about parting ways with the band's bassist:
"News from the Negation Council: Sun & Moon Records will re-release the CD version of 'Reflections of a Sad Soul' during April 2011. 'The Cult of Negation' LP version by Funeral Industries is at the pressing plant. The 'Svig and Negation Tour' is complete. The tour with Angantyr will pass following countries: France, Italy, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, Netherlands and Belgium.
"After 6 years of self-hatred in Negation, Krahne (H.Suizid) has decided to leave Nocturnal Depression for personal reasons. So we are looking for a new live session bassist player."
Krahne also commented on his departure:
"I, H.Suizid, took the decision to leave Nocturnal Depression. I did what I wanted and even I'm sure I still got lot of things to discover into ND's music. When I started Nocturnal Depression it was about Black Metal climax in musical landscape. ND is a kind of DSBM band and has to stay this cause this is its personality. But actually I really don't like the way of the actual scene, we're into Black Metal Mind since the beginning so I'm in no way fan or agree with 'open mind towards all music genres and also the coming of the shoegaze in our scene.' Yes, I'm a closed mind and i don't really care about your tolerance and clean voices.
"Things have to end for me like they started. So I will re-record together with Lord Lokhraed 'Suicidal Thoughts' and 'Near to the Stars.' It will be release by Sun & Moon Records. ND will continue under the leading of Lord Lokhraed and the new album 'Spleen Black Metal' is really a turning back to the beginning of DSBM."

"After a month of the relative comfort which a small tour bus can offer, the final Scandinavian leg of the tour was a bit more rough. We went back to basics, driving a rental van through the winter wonderland that is our home. We would like to thank:
* Accept & Gaby Hoffman - our heroes, inspiration and a very nice bunch of people!
* The Accept crew - most of which have been incredibly kind and helpful to us... and as for those who haven't, I've learned from moustasched rednecks on TV that karma will get you one way or the other.
* Everyone who has followed this blog
* ...and as always: all our fans and the people we've met on the road, as well as the other bands and crews we've toured with so far.
"See you all when we hit the road again!"

"The name of the game is '011' and you will find me, Thomas, Christian, Johan, Snowy, Katarina, Lori and Nalley appearing as even more fantastic characters than we are in reality! ; -) There will be more news on this coming soon!"

One of the best experiences of any metalhead's life is being able to meet his or her favorite band in person.
