Visions of Atlantis has issued the following update about bassist Michael Koren continuing to play live shows with the band:
"Hey out there! I just wanted to inform you that our Now-Father Mike (best wishes to his little Rocker!) has quit the band a few months ago (as we posted) to focus on his Father-Role as you may know already...
"But Mike was always a VoA Member for us in the hearts and now he decided to stay with the band for Live-Shows also in the future which means that he`s still our man for the VoA Live-bass guitar and that we won`t change our cool team for rocking on the road! For the Studio (as this is taking much time) he won`t be able to join the recordings for our new Album (The Album Title will be announced soon) which is absolutely no problem as we`ll work together with another Studio-Musician so that Mike can focus on his Work as a Tattoo Artist and of course on his father-role! We wish her all the best for the future!
"So here and now we are searching for a new singer again, details for applications follow in a few days on our official homepage. We know that you are waiting for a new album, and we are very sorry for keeping you waiting even longer for the new songs, with which we actually wanted to enter the recording studio now. The good news is that we will play the coming concerts nevertheless, cause our old singer Lisa Middelhauve has agreed to step in for them. But she will not enter the band again, so this will be an unexpected last opportunity for many fans to experience her on stage with Xandria once more!"
Xandria's upcoming shows are as follows:
5/7 2010 Thessaloniki (GR) - 8Ball Club
5/8 2010 Athens (GR) - AN Club
Good Fight Entertainment, founded by industry veterans Paul Conroy and Carl Severson, has launched a new management company with a music and sports division, along with a new record label, Good Fight Music.
Pioneers in the hardcore and metal scenes, and former partners at Ferret Music, Warner Music and ChannelZERO, Conroy and Severson have proven track records for innovative thinking and unwavering tenacity. Their abundance of experience has taught them how to spot cutting edge talent and propel them into the spotlight. To obtain maximum visibility for its releases, Good Fight Entertainment's record label, Good Fight Music, has partnered with Sony's RED distribution, which distributed Ferret for six years before their merger with Warner's Independent Label Group. During that time, Conroy and Severson helped launch the careers of numerous hardcore and metal outfits, including Killswitch Engage, Every Time I Die, and From Autumn To Ashes, while taking the likes of In Flames, The Devil Wears Prada, Chimaira, Madball and more to previously unachieved levels of success.
"I and all at RED couldn't be more pleased to be back in business with Carl Severson and Paul Conroy and their new label, Good Fight,” says RED president Bob Morelli. “As we begin 2010 with all the challenges and opportunities that we will deal with, working with Carl and Paul gives us a better chance for success. They are on the cutting musical edge, whether it will be with their label, as managers, in touring or other entrepreneurial initiatives."
Of their new endeavor, Carl Severson states, "We've built a company that is in a unique position to rise to the challenges of the evolving music industry. We've been on the front lines as digital has become the medium of choice for music marketing and commerce and we've grown with it, embraced the opportunities it's presented. Paul, myself, our staff; we have the resolve to thrive in this climate. Good Fight Entertainment is the culmination of our experiences as artists, band members, managers, musicians and executives. We have the opportunity to work with people who believe in us as much as we believe in them. This is a very exciting time for us."
The first Good Fight Music releases, Cancer Bats’ "Bears Mayors Scraps and Bones" and Son of Aurelius’ "The Farthest Reaches," are both scheduled to be unleashed April 13. Future releases from the already substantial Good Fight family of artists will include new albums by Rosaline, I Am Abomination, This or the Apocalypse, Conditions, Madball, and the newly reunited Disembodied.
“I'm very excited and honored to be a part of Good Fight,” says Madball frontman Freddy Cricien. “I've worked with Carl and Paul for some years now. I've developed a friendship there that goes beyond business. Some say friendship and business don't mix, in this case they are wrong. We are all very passionate about music and it will translate through this new vehicle, Good Fight Entertainment. It's the next chapter and Madball is glad to be a part of the movement.”
The music management division of Good Fight Entertainment boasts an already established roster of heavyweights, including August Burns Red, Behemoth, Between the Buried and Me, Bless the Fall, Cannibal Corpse, Children of Bodom, Chiodos, Every Time I Die, Holy Grail, Job For a Cowboy, among several others. Greek metallers Nightrage have checked in from the road with the following tour report:
"Hey people! Orestis Skotadi (Olof Morck :) ) here with a brand new tour blog from our Greek metal odyssey!
"We've had a few very lovely days here in sunny Greece, starting with our show in Agrinio; we started off the day with a drive through the Peleponnesian countryside, gazing in awe at the breathtaking scenery of the coastline of ancient Peleponnesos. Agrinio is a sleepy little town, and we were playing on a Sunday, but still we had our best show so far there, a big thanks to all the crazy metal heads of Agrinio coming over to rock out with us! Nightrage is without a doubt the first northern European metal band to play Agrinio, something we're proud of!
"Next up on the tour was Heraklion on sunny Crete, and we were greeted by 25 c, shining sun and the great Cretan locals, all doing their utmost to make our stay a lovely one! Show was really good, even though it was the last day of a three-day Greek holiday, and most Greeks were home curing their hangover :) We were staying at a lovely little hotel right next to the beach, so next day we got the chance to hang out on the beach, and feel of the warm sand and the slightly cool ice-blue Mediterranean on our feet! Something quite amazing, considering Sweden is till deep frozen and covered with snow. After that, we once more had an amazing drive, this time through the Cretan countryside, with it's rolling hills, snow-capped vast mountains and picturesque olive groves all making an unforgettable impression on us! Yesterday, Avenged Sevenfold--whose drummer James "the Rev" Sullivan tragically passed away in December 2009--announced on their website that they are recording their new album with Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy. Avenged Sevenfold said in part: "We asked Jimmy's all time favorite drummer Mike Portnoy to record on behalf of him. Mike said it would be an honor and without question that's what Jim would have wanted. It's comforting to us that someone like Mike, who is undoubtedly revered as one of the best drummers in the world, held such respect and adoration for the Rev's abilities."
Mike Portnoy today (2/18/09) issued this statement:
"Even under normal circumstances, I would've been happy to help the guys out in any way I could as I think Avenged Sevenfold are a great band...but under these incredibly sad and tragic circumstances, I must say I am truly honored to have been asked to play with them and I didn't even have to think twice about saying ‘yes.’
"These guys are a true family and it is an incredibly emotional experience to be here with them for the first time without their lost brother. But they have welcomed me into the family with open arms and there's a real excitement to make the record they had set out to make.
"I am treating my participation on this album with the utmost respect for Jimmy's memory and am remaining as true as possible to the drum parts that he wrote for the songs and the record he wanted to make.
"I want their fans to realize that I'm not trying to step into or fill The Rev's shoes...I'm just merely lacing 'em up for him!"

The band comments, "We think Chris is the next great producer to come out of the Raleigh area along side John Custer (CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, CRY OF LOVE, DAG) and Dick Hodgins (HOOTIE AND THE BLOWFISH, CONFESSOR). Our early report from the studio… The drums sound like cannons and the guitars are as heavy as tombstones grinding together. Absolutely brutal!"

AGE OF DESPAIR has scheduled a few one-off shows at Volume 11 in Raleigh, North Carolina on Sunday, March 7 with KITTIE & GOD FORBID and as direct support to OBITUARY on May 29.
