Intergalactic heavy-metal warlords GWAR and fellow all-caps organization PETA2 have announced (or, actually, are announcing right now...) yet another alliance aimed at the furtherance of animal rights, namely an animal's right as a superior species to not have his skin ripped of him to make clothing for inferior humans, unless of course GWAR decides different. This message shall be imparted to the human race through the production of another GWAR/PETA video, in follow-up to last years "Fight Humans Not Dogs" piece (which can be viewed at this location).
This wildly successful infomercial resulted in more humans fighting than ever before, and was nominated for a "Peggy", which is basically the "Oscar" of infomercials, eventually losing to Billy Mays, who accepted posthumously.
PETA2's Dan Shannon, Director of Youth Outreach and Campaigns, had this to say--"PETA is thrilled to be working with GWAR to raise awareness about the cruel ways that animals raised for their fur are treated. Like our previous collaboration with them, Fight Humans Not Animals, this collaboration will aim to turn a few heads"
GWAR's Oderus Urungus "said" this-- "GWAR is titillated to be working with GWAR, in this, the latest thing that GWAR is doing. We'll be providing the humans with an alternative to animal fur, and also helping improve the hygiene of this country's vast prison industry, in a collaboration that is sure to rip off a few heads."
The video is set to begin production at GWAR's shadowy "Slave Pit" next month. GWAR is currently wrapping up the North American leg of the "Bloody Tour of Horror" with a spate of shows on the east coast of the U.S.A. The upcoming GWAR tour dates are as follows:
Thu/Feb-17 Raleigh, NC @ Lincoln Theatre
Fri/Feb-18 Allentown PA @ Crocodile Rock

Comments guitarist/vocalist Mike Cummings of the new record and upcoming dates: "The new, as yet untitled, record is dark and ugly, but smooth in all the right places. I think live is where these songs are going to hit the hardest. We've been doing this for long enough that each stop on a tour isn't just a show anymore. It's a full blown party; a gathering of friends old and new. This tour should be no different, save for the fact that now we are flying the Small Stone flag, and are stoked to be doing so!"

Germany's Kromlek has issued the following announcement about the band's upcoming album "Finis Terrae:"
"The Maya were terribly wrong! The end of the world will befall us in 2011 – in fact by the concentrated impact of a 13 headed hydra. The most diversified band of the pagan metal sector sounds apocalyptical fanfares for the cardinal onslaught against convention and genre-sullenness. The congenial sextet around polarizer and ideologist-in-chief Mr. Alphavarg presents an album of variety and complexity that is simply unique and incomparable.
"All powers of the forerunner album 'Sr...dt' have not been simply cultivated but pitchforked into higher spheres. Genre borders will be overrun and every skeptic will be forced to devotional hush by an overwhelming kaleidoscope of epic melodies, bombastic moments and impressive profound and plurivalent lyrics about the forthcoming end of the world.
"With his concept Mr. Alphavarg reveals a real superlative of his previous work. Beside the traditional languages used – namely German, English and Swedish – there are ground-breaking pamphlets in Sanskrit, Latin, Arabian and many more. Furthermore, for two songs the six apocalyptical horse riders are accompanied by famous supporters.
"World-exclusively for 'Finis Terræ' Mark and Joris of Heidevolk sing in German for the very first time! Moreover Equilibrium’s mastermind, René Berthiaume, participates as vocalist for the first time as well. More aggressive, more melodic and harder than ever before this album definitely proves the potential to enthuse and inspire listeners all over the world and far beyond the pagan metal genre? 'Finis Terræ' is really an end time soundtrack you just have to call your own!"

more than half of the songs solos flawlessly and creative, very often in fact at the time of recording, new ideas are introduced in the songs. During the same period the band is planning on touring and hitting most festival stages around Europe.
Recordings will take place in Prophecy Music Factory studios and production duties will be handled by R.D. Liapakis with the rest of the band. There will be 11 songs on the album, and artwork will be delivered by Jonas Kawalek who has worked with the band in the past for the "Satanic Curses" album.
Commenting on the creative process of the new album, band main man R.D. Liapakis stated:
"Mystic Prophecy is now more than ever in a turning point in their history. Fireangel overcame our expectations and our fans have shown us their support in the best possible way. The tour we did with Stratovarius gave the band the chance to get a very good sense of unity and groove which is generated by every member contributing to whole which finally is presented to the fans. This is what will make a difference in our upcoming album.
"The feeling of unity, amongst us, enhances the effect we bring out. More power, more feeling, more combined ideas, more diversity, but all in the thread that goes through it all which is Mystic Prophecy. Two minds work better than one, so imagine all five of us contributing equally to the final result. I am confident that we'll do our best to express what's in our souls and hope the fans like it. Up till now we seem to have a common ground so this album will only enforce this bond with our fans and help us create new ones."

We, The Undersigned has posted a blog online detailing the band's recent tour dates in Canada. An excerpt from the blog follows:
"February 9th - Mad Hatters, Montreal QC (with Endast): Tonight was our very first show since the summer of 2010 and I cannot tell you how excited we were to hit the stage and make some organized noise for the masses. Preperation for this cross country tour has been a bit stressful so we are badly in need of releasing the tension through some cathartic heavy metal! And that we did mes amis. Mad Hatters was packed from wall to wall (thanks to our good buddies ENDAST) so we cranked up the tube amps and plowed through our 7-song set. It was clear that we missed the sensation of excitement and adrenaline that comes from a We, The Undersigned performance. Despite our 8-month break, the mission has not been forgotten. Awesome show!
"As our 3rd cross Canada tour begins, we would like to give a huge shout out to our new Super Friend, Mr. Josh Ingram. He has decided to help us out by playing drums with us every night! He's a rockin dude so when you come out to our show, be sure to send him some love and creep on his facebook.
"We would also like to thank our sponsors for the tour: Jagermeister, D-Tox, Red Tentacle, Diminished Fifth Record, and The Outlook Agency.
"February 11th - The Highland, North Bay ON: For our first North Bay show ever we found ourselves at a venue that was basically somebody's upstairs transformed into a rock hall. This was cool because there were no rules, but it was also a bit sketchy because there were NO RULES! It's been a while since I've been subjected to that much tabacco smoke (etc etc) but it made me thankful that no one can smoke in bars nowadays. More...

My Inner Burning is preparing to release the band's second full-length album, “Eleven Scars,” which will see a March 22nd North American release via SPV/Steamhammer. Metalunderground.com is premiering the song “Demons” off this upcoming effort, which you can hear below.
“Eleven Scars” follows the My Inner Burning 2009 debut self-titled album. “Eleven Scars” sounds groovier and a little darker than the act's first self-titled release. Guitarist Torsten Sauerbrey explains the reasoning behind the darker sound by commented, “Probably the many concerts we’ve played since, and the stronger influence of our vocalist Becky, who penned the occasionally rather sinister lyrics.”
“Eleven Scars” sees Becky Gaber deliver eleven incisive stories – a clear reference to the album title – about broken friendship, unhappy love and other relationship dramas. “Eleven Scars” is no concept album,” says Sauerbrey, “but the record’s lyrics definitely have a central theme.”
Here's the tracklisting for My Inner Burning's "Eleven Scars":
4. For the Last Time
5. When I'm Gone
7. Done With Denial
8. Gone Wrong
9. Enemy of Mine
10. New Breed
“Eleven Scars” was recorded at the Metal Sound studio in Osterode/Harz and mixed by Sauerbrey.
Kevin Lyman has had a hand in the creation of Warped Tour and Mayhem Festival, to name just a few of the noteworthy projects he has been involved with over the past two-plus decades. Starting out as a club promoter in Los Angeles, his idea to have a yearly outdoor summer festival conducted in parking lots with Warped Tour has turned into one of the most well-known tours out there today. Along with John Reese, Lyman started the Rockstar Mayhem Festival a few years back to give the spotlight to metal and hard rock acts.
This year’s line-up is a powerhouse, with headliners Godsmack, Disturbed, and Megadeth on tap, as well as Machine Head, In Flames, and Trivium supporting. I had the chance to talk to Lyman in early February about the semantics of running a major festival, the process behind choosing acts, and the possibility of taking the festival overseas in the near future. "I have lived with these songs for over a year now and the songs have to be real good if I'm still digging them a year later! I have an open mind, though, to whatever magic occurs between Nick Sterling, Bobby Jarzombek [drums], Bob Marlette and myself.
